It's Almost-Friday, plus Chili Dog Day! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Hermès Eau des Merveilles, by perfumers Nathalie Feisthauer and Ralf Schwieger.
Reminder: 7/28 will be Nathalie Friday...wear a perfume by Nathalie Lorson or Nathalie Feisthauer, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image shows the Les Flacons Bandana silk Twilly from Hermès, in three colors, £125 each at Hermès in the UK.
My SOTD is C.O. Bigelow Lemon Eau de Parfum. On the drive to work, my husband mentioned that I was wearing a new perfume, and he said that he liked it
Oh, what a great feeling to get a compliment like that, yay!
bigelow..A great pharmacy as well
Ooh that scent sounds perfectly refreshing
So nice to hear those compliments first thing in the morning.
I’m wearing Alien eau Sublime, for a day of appointment’s and house cleaning. This scent is so cheerful and uplifting, my skin almost wants to reject it, lol! I really do like it, I think it will be great as a winter pick me up.
I tried that one recently and liked it. It is a good winter Alien.
That sounds like something one of my friends ought to try. She just recently tried the original Alien and liked it quite a lot.
She really should, this is really well done. Imo.
Inspired by Barqs SOTD yesterday, Mon Guerlain
You smell so pretty!
are you listening to some great 70’s music too
Little Monkey wanted Paul Simon to be played this morning..over and over again…
My parents used to play Paul Simon (his Graceland album in particular) when my sister and I were little monkeys. I’m still very fond of his music
Thanks — ya’ll made me smile this morning
And you smell lovely!
I just sampled that the other day at the mall- strong stuff for sure!
On Monday I wore Anjouan, a wonderful ambery ylang scent from Indice Parfums. Yesterday I tried their Mohéli and really hated it — it was a super-aquatic, calone-drenched thing that will be to some people’s tastes but not mine. Today I wore the third of the trio, Moroni, and it is glorious, an expensive-smelling fruity floral pairing jasmine and ylang, with a gourmand finish. Two out of three is pretty good!
I’m commenting below on Fleur des Fleurs and it could be similar to your Moroni with a common ylang ylang & jasmine base, but FdF has more tuberose and woods, whereas Moroni is fruitier? I have to see if a find a sample!
I haven’t tried FdF but Moroni is unquestionably a fruity floral, no tuberose and no noticeable wood (I’m sure there’s a dab of something like Polysantol in the base to give it some staying power, because it survives a shower no problem). You can get 2-mL spray samples of all three for 5 euros from the Indices Parfums website.
thanks for the tip, I’ll go over to the website!
I’m in Prada Amber Pour Homme Intense as we have another cold and rainy day here. Forecast says weekend should be a bit better and that we’re off to 30*C at the beginning of August. Such a weather rollercoaster this summer…
Cloudy & looks like rain here too.
I was sampling it yesterday and today it deserves a full 2 sprays: Fleur des Fleurs, Une nuit à Bali (of the Une nuit nomade line), it’s a joyful white flower bomb, could maybe be “Vamp à NY”‘s slightly more sophisticated and less boozy big sister, probably because both claim to use only “natural” ingredients?
Another Ormonde Jayne today from a sample: Champaca. This is really nice even though it starts off a little sweet. I have a hard time with florals but I could definitely live with this one if a bottle fell in my lap.????
I love Champaca. One of my favorites in the set. You smell great!
Thanks! I have a feeling I’m going to enjoy this entire line, which is worrisome for my wallet!
I like MANY of them as well!
I haven’t met an Ormonde Jayne fragrance I didn’t like, and many of them I like a little too much. Luckyscent now carries the line in the US……..just saying.
You smell great! It doesn’t read very floral to me at all. Mostly I get nutty, toasted rice tea and citrus. My facorite of what I tried. Wish it lasted a tad longer on me, though.
Thanks! I have 9 more samples of the line to make it through, but the first two are winners!
OJ does florals really well. Their Osmanthus and Ta’if are also gorgeous.
Right now my scent is Nuxe body oil, but I plan to spray on some Marc Jacobs Cocktail Splash Ginger before I leave for work.
The university where I work is hosting a cookout this afternoon so, if I’m lucky, I may get to celebrate Chili Dog Day after all
Eat one for me!
I really love Nuxe body oil..I am sad that company has left the states. Guess you can still buy it online
I’m bummed about it too since I hopped on the Nuxe train just before they left the US market. I got my bottle on ebay anyway, but I’m afraid that now the prices will shoot up.
I am a fan of Nuxe body oil. Enjoy your chilly dog!
SOTD is Queen which is just as good as I remembered. Sometimes, you remember things better than they were and it’s a bit disappointing when you revisit them, but not my Queen!
Very hot, so did the waterfall hunting yesterday and a bit of hiking. Took the van on some very sketchy twisty forest roads with nail biting grades and it did quite well. I’m wishing I hadn’t gotten the extended version because it’s less maneuverable in tight situations, but all in all, it did fine.
Got home, fed T-Rex who appeared to be ravenous, took her outside for business and somehow she managed to squat right in a nest of ants. Before I knew it, they were swarming all over her. Brushed them all off, got her inside, where she promptly went into shock. Emergency vet luckily is only two miles away and now she is a bit low but otherwise fine.
We’re going to have a very low key, boring day today. I’m pooped????
Poor T-Rex. My dachshund once stumbled upon a wasps nest. Luckily she didn’t suffer any serious damage but she was very quiet for a while. I hated having to watch her suffer.
Give T-Rex a hug from me!
Jeeze Louise! What a day! Glad T-rex is ok.
Aw, poor T-Rex! Hope she’s having a good rest day after all of yesterday’s excitement.
Your poor baby! So glad she is okay now. Hope you all can get some rest today.
Poor baby. Sorry to read this. I hope she gets lots of hugs today and extra dog cookies
Oh no! Poor T-Rex. That sounds like a nightmare. I’m glad the vet was so close.
Give her a big pet from me. And I hope you have a relaxing and completely uneventful day.
Hugs and positive vibes for T-Rex! I hope you both have a relaxing day!
Poor baby! Hope she feels better soon.
Poor thing I hope she feels better!
Queen is a great scent! I’m glad your poor ant-bitten dog is going to be alright!
Thanks all! Steroids and Benadryl to the rescue. She’s a bit hung over but otherwise doing fine. She gives you a a big wet doggie smooch in appreciation for the well wishes????
OMG, poor T-Rex! I hope that those weren’t fire ants she stumbled onto… those things are EVIL!!!
Oh, gosh! Poor thing. I’m glad she’s better now!
Oh no, poor T-Rex. Glad she’s on the mend.
Scent twins! I’m wearing Eau des Merveilles as well. It’s one of my most neglected scents and it is truly wonderful and unique.
Tea is Lune Rouge.
Hey twin! Now I’ll have to go make a cup of that tea.
You smell great. I’m saving Eau des Merveilles for Friday. Oops, I mean Fri-YAY!
Me too, it’s the only Nathalie I have apparently!
I am wearing Wisteria Hysteria by Nathalie Feisthauer. But it’s fighting for dominance against the scent of Lush Jasmine and Henna Fluff-Ease hair treatment from my freshly washed hair.
Does the henna treatment have a strong scent? My sister and I used to dye our hair with henna when we were teenagers and I remember the smell of henna would stay in our hair for days afterward.
I recall the smell of henna as being quite unpleasant
It has a very strong scent – jasmine mixed with something herbal and slightly spicy. I do not know what henna smells like, but if this herbal scent is henna, it’s not bad. Strange, but not unpleasant. But it can linger for days for sure!
I love the smell of that Lush henna.
SotD is Jasmin et Cigarette. From a sample.
You smell gorgeous. That’s been my no-brainer scent this summer.
Its a great scent indeed.
I dont get that ashtray/smokers vibe that many reviewers (and kpaint, in comment below) mention. Next time I wear it I will ask people around me if they think I picked up smoking again
Love this one – you smell great!
And? (I think I’m in the minority as a non-fan. That ashtray smell is too much for me, even as a smoker. Or maybe because I am?)
I used to be a smoker, but I do not get any ashtray. Funny how impressions differ right?
To me its a fruity, cheerful jasmine, that is easy to wear. And i get a bit of hay as well.
I like it a lot!
You’re smelling great! I don’t get ashtray from JeC, either… but I do get a bit of unburned tobacco leaf in it at times. Most of the time it is all jasmine.
SOTD is Olympic Orchids “Arizona”.
Notes: black locust, pine, juniper, artemisia and wild flowers.
Not so much a perfume as a landscape painted in scent. I’ve never been to Arizona, but to me the pine leaf/ pine resin/ Mediterranean herb vibe reminds me of Les Landes in France, or Naxos in Greece. I’ll put it on the longlist, although I’m doubtful I’ll ever get a bottle on this side of the Atlantic.
I’m trying to imagine who would wear a Hermes twilly bandana? All I can come up with is a very camp street gang (maybe Kensington High Street or the Rue St Honoré). They can all pile out of their Suzuki Vitaras and dance lightly yet menacingly down the road, clicking their fingers and jangling their gold chains (with Pandora charms), like an updated West Side Story.
Also: is there anyone here who can eat a peach neatly, and if so can they teach me? Thanks. :^D
You need to eat it like a banana, with a knife and fork
Sadly I already eat it like a total banana!
Peaches are my favorite, but I cut them up into bite-size pieces.
One of the joys of eating a peach is having the juice run down your chin. Just keep a napkin handy????
Yes, napkins and strange neck angles and pushing laptops out of range all feature in the current mode. :^)
I love going outside to eat peaches and nectarines. You probably need a break anyway, Koenigsberg!
I’m in this camp. What’s better than a delicious ripe peach spilling juices down your arm?
I love the description of your Twilly gang! Can’t help you with the peach issue however – I’m always a giant mess when I’m done eating one.
I lived in Greece for a couple of years. There was only one way to eat a peach.
Go stand in the Med.
I like that solution. Standing in the Rhine, not so much.
Someone gifted me a Hermes Twilly a couple years ago and I wish I knew what to do with it. What an expensive piece of useless cloth.
Hah! I was just going to say I’ve been coveting a twilly for a while, but the $$$ is more than necessary. But then I also realize I’d likely not know how to wear it or wouldn’t have the right panache to carry it off… Except maybe as a fabric bracelet… ????
Maaaaaaybe we can arrange a swap????? Twilly for perfume?! It’s either that or I try to put it up on evilBay!
I was actually thinking they would make a perfect belt for a high-wasted pair of shorts I have. The original cloth belt fell apart.
That doesn’t seem like a look I could pull off
I love my twillies. I tie it on a bag handle or tie it on my wrist. Sometimes I wear it to spin class like a bandana. I love my twilly little round Hermes boxes and put pencils or earbuds in them and keep them on my desk.
Call me silly but…
Twillies, PLURAL. (The box IS really cute. If I could sell the scarf and keep the box, I might.)
So, I used to have a Twilly equivalent from Coach (probably at 0.2x the cost), and for a while I had it tied onto my Coach handbag. Everyone made fun of me–“your purse has a scarf?” Also, it was kind of inconvenient, so I eventually took it off.
Since I don’t have any Hermes purses (swoon, sigh), tying an Hermes scarf on a non-Hermes bag would be even sillier!
Jasper! Imogen! Come inside. Mummy has something important to tell you.
What is it? Tell us! Is it dreadful? Not Spanky ….
Yes, I’m afraid Uncle Spanky has done something very silly and foolish. He’s been caught on CCT …. I can hardly bring myself to say it….he was caught wiping peach juice off his chin with a twilly scarf.
No! NO! But what will happen to us? How will we ever be safe from the Twilly Gang now?
It’s all right, Darling. Mummy has talked to Uncle Roger in the Defence department and he has arranged for a tank to be parked outside our home. If any member of that frightful Twilly Gang dares to show their face….well, let’s not spell it out. Now, let’s cheer ourselves up. Go and fetch nanny and ask Viktor to bring the car…Chanel is having a sale. New schoolbags for everyone!
If you have a really good peach, there is no neat way to eat it, except possibly standing over the kitchen sink and doing the “Philly Cheesesteak Stance”.
OMG, I can so relate (just the peach…I have not had a proper Philly Cheesesteak in forever)
Well, you should come visit Arizona! I haven’t smelled that perfume, but from the notes you mentioned, I’d say it would be the scent of driving up one of our mountains. You’d smell the artemisia (sagebrush) at lower elevations, then the juniper, and then the pine at the top.
The Twilly Gang! ???? OMG, I can picture it! But who would the rival gang be?
How to eat a peach? In fruit cocktail! Problem solved. You’re welcome. ????
I woke up wanting something girly, so SOTD is 24, Faubourg. Girly indeed!
You smell fantastic! One of my favs!
No SODT (day #3), but Charlie is still with us…. Lots of coffee and a chilly hot dog for luch. Perfect excuse to get out of the office and smell some fresh air
Gosh, that must be horrible! Do you think it might be helpful to steam clean the carpet? Otherwise, Charlie may hanging around long after you’re gone…????
It is really bad! Carpets are scheculed to be steam clean on Saturday. So we have to survive 2 more days….
Oh dear! Maybe it will wear off over the weekend.
I hope after the carpets get clean the smell is gone. She clean her place today again with her Lysol wipes, but still….
That woman is really awful. I just can’t get over how dreadfully she behaved.
I haven’t checked in for a while and clearly missed a monumental story! Pl67 seems to have a lot of them! and
I was going to tell you that I think I’m going through a period of perfume fatigue too. I was looking at my decants and samples this morning and was so overwhelmed so I just grabbed my Shalimar and sprayed (it’s my go-to). Maybe I’ll just stick to it for a few days and try and reset. It’s possible mine is because I’ve got so much going on with the relocation and all, who knows…Anyway, just thought I’d share since you’ve been going through something similar.
Hope the fresh air eases the Charlie pain!
I understand you. Stress might be contributing to your fatigue and lack of interest. Stick to whatever you like or give yourself a complete break. I am pretty sure you will be back to normal sooner than later. I think we all go thru the same fatigue many times in our lives. Just be patient!
I’m happy to hear that your carpets are getting steam cleaned over the weekend. Hopefully that will knock down the stink you are dealing with.
I hope so! I will never forget Charlie for the rest of my life
House twins Robin, I’m wearing Hermes Galop. I really enjoy wearing this, and I am using my samples steadily.
Same and same and need more.
Shalimar today just because I missed it.
Fab, of course!
I’m wearing Putain des Palaces for the first time, from my ELDO discovery set. Very retro. Very powdery.
at first I thought your picture was a portrait of a lady’s face looking back, focused on her left cheek – now I see a basket of flowers in the forefront and a vase in the background – is it supposed to be interpretive do you think?
I don’t think so. I never noticed a second interpretation of the picture. I thought it was just a pitcher of flowers.
I don’t think you were commenting yet when we were all in a tizzy over chocolatemarzipan’s avatar. It looked like a 3-eyed owl but it really was a tray of cookies and other sweets so she compromised and said it was an edible 3-eyed owl. Maybe she’ll bring it out occasionally…
Oooooh, sounds interesting, I hope so!
Yum. Love Putain.
In Eau des Merveilles Bleu today. It’s on theme with my nautical inspired skirt.
I sampled it the other day at Nordies and liked it a lot. I normally stay away from salty fragrances, but this one is so pretty and realistically captures the smell of sea water and sea breeze.
You smell great!
I agree. Usually I’m repulsed by anything aquatic.
I love this! Perhaps a darling 30 mLs is in your future?
Serge Lutens A la nuit for me today.
I’d like to express my support to the LGBT / trans community [Vegan Girl: I’m sorry but our comment policy prevents all the rest of your sentence: https://nstperfume.com/about-now-smell-this/comments-user-accounts/ ]
Vegan Girl, you smell great, and sorry I took away part of your comment. Hopefully the part I left is enough.
Many flowers make a bouquet.
You and A la Nuit smell beautiful today.
.. chin up
We shall overcome.
Right there with you!
SOTD is Camaheu from Gabriella Chieffo, which I am loving. I tried it several years ago and thought “meh”. This time, I adore it!
Funny how that happens!
It makes me hesitant to get rid of anything! I may turn around and decide I love it in a couple of years. I can feel hoarding coming on…
SOTD Yosh Sottile from the bottle- that- I-forgot-I-ordered-from- Hautelook a month ago. Tea rose and lily-of-the-valley. A little green, ozonic, with a damp garden vibe. Not very strong after the initial blast settles. Pretty.
That’s the fun thing about ordering from Hautelook, isn’t it? Just when you’ve forgotten all about your order, you get a fun little surprise in your mailbox.
It’s actually my first time ordering from them! Good to know how they operate for future reference. Fortunately I’m not super impatient.
I did end up ordering the same also…potentially as a gift. Saw that a lot of folks got emails saying their orders couldn’t be fulfilled. Someone made a big error.
Did yours come yet? I saw that too. I don’t think Sottile is as popular as some of the other scents. I also don’t think they expected the response that they got for the sale. You’d thing they’d check with the supplier first to see how much stock is available so that they can inform people that things are sold out during the sale instead of weeks later after people have paid already.
SOTD is Frau Tonis Linde Berlin. We’re past linden season, but I’m missing Germany lately, and this reminds me of Germany in the summer.
Now I’m missing the smell of linden!
SOTD- Chanel 28 La Pausa edt. I bought a small bottle last year and already the bottle is half empty ( or half full). OHHHHH, why Chanel discontinued such a beauty and replaced it with its dull sister?
I gave up on the new chanel line..
Me too! From now on I should write chanel in lower case letters only.
Ha! I love a good passive aggressive move.
I stole this idea from Lovestosmellgood! See her comment above
How does the EDT compare to the new EDP?
I wore Coromandel edp last night (3rd wearing from a sample) and have concluded that I just don’t like it. They really botched that one dumbing it down. I do, however, prefer the new Beige, which is unchanged but has better soillage and tenacity.
That’s how I feel about the new Sycomore!
I’m wearing a sample of Pelargonium today – it’s one of my two Nathalie scents. Based on Angela’s review I was expecting something really exciting, but my skin must not be amplifying some crucial notes because it’s just “meh” and almost gone.
I’m about to go wash off the insipid remains and put on something more exciting. Probably Jasmin et Cigarette. Thanks for the inspiration Jiji!
I also had a sample of Pelargonium and was also enthusiastic about trying it after Angela’s review but I actively disliked it: absolutely not to my taste. The sense of smell is such a mystery.
This makes me feel better that each time I’ve tried to sniff at Aedes, their two tester bottles have been empty.
Aedes scents are definitely not safe blind buys. I really disliked Grenadille d’Afrique and could barely smell Oeillet Bengale. Looking forward to smelling Pelargonium but it could go either way.
I tried Pelargonium out twice last week and thought it was alright, but nothing special. It also went dish soap on my skin for a good fifteen minutes both times I tried it, at about an hour or so in. The sense of smell is a mystery indeed!
SotD = Jour d’Hermes
Sunlight peeks through leaves and branches
as I lean against a tree in a field of flowers,
then look into the distance, and breathe.
aw, thanks! Jour d’Hermes makes my day better.
I love Eau des Merveilles (as well as Eau Claire des Merveilles and L’Ambre des Merveilles)!
I’m wearing Jo Malone Basil and Neroli for a day when I’m getting back into work mode, doing research for some writing assignments and listening in on a conference call (haven’t been on one of those in ages!).
You smell great!
SOTD is the ever-lovely AG La Chevrefeuille. I smell just like the honeysuckle currently blooming in my garden.
La Chevrefeuille is a perfect honeysuckle scent. You smell beautiful.
Ah, my favorite AG (and I like a lot of scents in that line)!
Finally following the community project in some wonderful Encre Noire! Man, this stuff is great. The last two times I tried it, I think my skin was doing something funny, because there was a horrible pungent top note that others have said is the Iso E Super. But today, it was as glorious as the first few times I tried it–oodles of vetiver all around. I hope it stays like this in the future!
Could also be the weather? I tend to like heavy rich vetivers in hot temps.
Totally could be! However, I love Sycomore in all weather, so who knows.
Wearing SL Santal Blanc. I just reached into my SL samples and came up with this. Kind of funny because I am wearing all white today and it wasn’t coordinated. Vince white and pink silk top, white jeans, and nude leather slides.
You look great and smell great.
That scent seems like a great complement to your outfit.
I’m in Sweet Anthem Kay, which is sadly discontinued. It’s raining in Seattle for the first time in a while (we had a winter of record rain and then a summer of record dry) and I wanted something that fit. Kay has a great “wet sidewalk” accord in it, and it fits the bill nicely.
This also made me realize that all my favorite Sweet Anthem scents are discontinued… oh well. There are other perfumes!
Trying Lilac by Roja Dove, via the kind auspices of a Portland perfumista. It’s pretty but not a truelove, to my relief and that of my pocketbook.
Was feeling indecisive this morning so I’m trying a sample of Carner Palo Santo. Yesterday I tried Amouage Figment and Bracken. Figment was really dire, but I love Bracken.
I liked Bracken too…
Did a sniff-by at the local MegaMall yesterday on my way home from work. Currently wearing the sample of Tom Ford Oud Minerale that I made at Nordstrom’s. Nice! Goes on the buy list.
… I might have picked up a bottle (or two) of those new Banana Republic scents. Meant to get the small bottles but they were sold out. What’s a perfumista to do? Donatella forgives, I know…
I sniffed Banana Republic Classic last week and really liked it!
I’ve had a couple of BR scents over the years and really enjoyed them!
Which one’s might have been picked up?
PSA – Kazimi Rose (House of Matriarch) is at 50% off with coupon code INMYHEART. It is a great rose that rarely goes on sale
SOTD – still Mysore Sandalwood attar.
You are awarded an enabler pin for your dedication to the sandalwood attar–I bought it yesterday! It must be good if you’ve worn it all week.
Which one did you get? A pin in my crown, yay!!
Sadly for my budget, I bought both the Sandal 100K and the Bengal. Donatella would have done the same only she would have gotten the large sizes.
I got same 2.5 g is a huge bottle.
Hey, thanks! Just placed my order.
I’m wearing Carnal Flower for the first time in a year. I think I may have too many tuberose scents.
Me too – they are hard to resist but I have 5 really good ones now and need to stop.
Yeah. Yeah. I hear “tuberose” and I get all Pavlov’s dog.
Bombay Bling for me.
Want a happy political fact? It has been 27 years since President George Bush (41) signed the Americans With Disabilities Act into law! Happy birthday ADA.
You smell great
Joining you in Eau de Merveilles! Actually, you made up my mind for me – my gumption has been at a low point these last few days. I need to get over the hump, and I will, but in the meantime I’m happy to outsource some of the work to others.
Following Robin’s lead has always made my day better.
I have one from each of the Nathalies, so I’m wearing Lady Gaga Fame by Nathalie Lorson today.
I’m trying out Room 1015’s Power Ballad today and it’s a deeply, deeply boring scent. I ended up looking around for reviews and found the one from November of 2016 on this site, and couldn’t agree more with Jessica’s take on it. To my nose it smells like the Barbasol shaving cream I steal from my boyfriend when I shave my legs, with a few meek spices added.
I was a kid in the 1990s but I remember the teenagers of that decade (I thought they were *so* cool), and I think my nostalgia for that era would be better suited by grabbing some Davidoff Cool Water or maybe some Hugo Boss from the drugstore.
Ah, the review was from June, not November. Either way I agreed with it!
This for reals made me LOL! Deeply, deeply boring bahaha! I’m sure we can all relate!
Ha! Same here.
Morning, all. Yesterday passed off fine, I think, but you know that feeling of still being in motion when you get off a long flight or finish a car trip? Well, I’m still saying names very clearly in my head…”Mosese Aualiitia = Mo-SESSE-e Awalee’eetee-ah.” Seventy students turned up LATE–registry was scrambling behind the scenes to re-write the lists. Many of the pages I was handed had crossings out and re-instatements. It must have been thirty times more stressful behind the scenes than it was for me on stage. But it’s over. Done. Yay! And to celebrate, I’m wearing La Pausa, which strikes me as perfect for a long road trip (6 hours) on a cold wet day. I’ve packed Beloved for the trip home.
Take care, all. And remember, give every syllable its due weight, and watch your glottal stops. Because, after all, who knows what might happen if the glottal stops get out of control?
Indeed, ‘oo knows wo’ mi’ ‘appen? Be’a no’ le’ i’ ‘appen ‘ere, eh?
(Sorry Waterdragon, I let my glottal stop off the leash there for a moment and it ran amok).
The two of you are the best.
Yippee and yahoo for surviving the commencement ceremony! Now on to the fun stuff and kittens!
En vacance in VCA Orchidee Vanille, which I’d been dying to try but can hardly smell despite a good dousing. It strikes me that it might be best in winter soaked into a sweater, so I think I’ll sock it away for a few months.
I actually wanted to wear EdM today but I’d sprayed Shaal Nur in the a.m. and knew it wouldn’t stand up to the last traces of my SOTM. Tomorrow!
EdM is one of my favorites for spritzing en vacance.
Hope your holiday is wonderful.
Wow. I just gave notice at my job. I’ve been looking around for a while now and it really is amazing how feast or famine things can go. For the longest time, I couldn’t even get a call back but this week I got a great offer, a callback from another place and my current employer scrambling to keep me.
Wearing 31 Rue Cambon (3 sprays today cause why not?) and feeling grand.
31 RC sounds like the perfect scent for your situation. Good luck.
Awesome! Congrats and best of luck in the new job!
You smell as grand as you feel! Good luck.
Don’t you love it when all the stars align? Congrats to you! And nice to feel valued by your current employer, I’m sure. And smelling great, to boot.
Congratulations on everything falling into place and working out for you! Best of luck going forward.
Congrats! and good luck!
Good for you! Congratulations and best of luck!
Congratulations, Gi! When do you start your new job?
Thanks for the good wishes! To put the cherry on the sundae, I have a (welcome) 5 week gap in between. Life is good.
Good luck! You smell great!
Today I’m wafting Amouage Opus IX from a spray mixed into my body lotion. I thought that might lessen its projection slightly by diffusing it. Alas, it did not. Eh, live and learn.
Enjoy your day, NSTers!
So, how big is Opus IX?
Pretty darned big, which is potentially problematic since it’s also quite animalic. Picture the amount of juice in a single spritz from a manufacturer’s sample. That’s all I apply. ????
I guess NSFW?
Depends on where you work. ????????…But, seriously, no. I’m not a good judge of how others perceive/react to animalic scents, but the projection alone should rule it out, I’d say. (Luckily, I’m not gassing anyone out today.)
Back from Hawaii into the depths of winter – brrr! We had a lovely time, the wedding was everything I imagined a wedding in Hawaii might be. Le Temps d’une Fete worked beautifully in the warmth.
Good to hear you had a wonderful time!
Welcome back home!
SOTD = Alaia Paris EdP, from the sample that simply refuses to quit! Not that I mind. This is probably going to be one of my most selected scents of summer 2017, along with Guerlain Terracotta Le Parfum.
I’m having trouble with my bottle of this. It’s just gorgeous once in a while and meh/not great/old woman-y at other times. Hmm.
Alaia is a bit tempermental to me. I’ve noticed that it needs hot weather to be at its best; otherwise, it seems kind of washed out or faded. Just my $0.02 worth.
A relief to hear I’m not alone! I haven’t observed a temperature trend, but I’ll pay more attention in the future.
Huh. I’ve not had either experience with it. I wear it year-round and always love it.
PSA: If anyone here is a big Teavana fan, better stock up now. I just read in a Forbes article that Starbucks, who owns the Teavana chain, will be closing all of those stores in spring 2018.
Oh no! Thanks for the info!
Not surprised -the Teavana stores always look empty.
Probably to sell them exclusively at Starbucks?
SOTD is Champaca by CdG from a sample. Although I love Opardu, Champaca is quite nice and much more reasonably priced.
SOTD = Christian Dior Dior Addict + Il Profumo Vanilla Bourbon
I drenched myself with Addict and then added a few spritzes of Il Profumo and Il Profumo wimpped out and was no match for Addict. But I wafted vanilla tonka sandalwood something fierce ALL day! Thanks to a dear perfumista who gifted me a decant.
Saw on the train – consider that it was humid and in the high 70s / low 80s – red-nosed woman wearing the world’s thickest sweatshirt hoodie, a heavy scarf wound around her neck, khaki pants and open-toed strappy sandals, blowing her nose like there was no tomorrow. Lady – if you are THAT sick, stay home; also, strappy sandals, even though they match your slacks perfectly, do not go with your winter outfit.
Heard on a train platform – thank God it was not crowded – a BIG LOUD FART. She had the audacity to look around as if looking for a culprit. I just looked at her with a knowing looked and edged away.
Oh no! Terrible and disgusting. But I am not surprised. I think common sense and manners have gone somewhere else. Sadly, we need to face, endure and survive the craziness of the world!
