Happy Fruity Friday! Our community project for today (a repeat from 2014): wear something fruity. It doesn't have to be a fruity floral, just something with plenty of fruit.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm shockingly fruity in Arielle Shoshana Eau de Parfum.
Reminder: 6/16 will be Oddball Friday...wear a fragrance that smells like nothing else you own, or interpret oddball in some other oddball way. Suggested by Austenfan.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m having a fruity Friday with Bombay Bling from NVC 🙂
Lots of mango and lychee for me.
I am going to wear the last bit of Bombay Bling decant today too!
Triplets!
We smell fabulous 🙂
Ignore those of us wandering over for a huff….
I’m wearing Bombay Bling too and loving every minute of it!
Woohoo. Love being scent twins with you.
Now why did I not think of that?
Fruity Friday here with tender grapes and figs in Wilde by Jardin d’Ecrivains.
Sounds perfect!
Thank you! It’s not my all-time favorite in JdE line-up (that would be Junky), but I enjoy Wilde a lot, and I actually can imagine Oscar Wilde wearing it. That said, I like almost all scents by Jardin d’Ecrivain, and I hope to add Marlowe and George to my collection as well.
I have Marlowe which is a fun scent. I should wear it more than I do.
Happy Fruity Friday! I’m on-theme in one of the very few fruity fragrances I own: Love & Toast Mandarin Tea. Orange blossoms, pomegranate, and rooibos tea. I blind-bought a mini splash bottle for something like $8. Highly recommend this cheap thrill to anyone who loves orange blossom.
My Friday night plans include going to the Arboretum for a night hike with wine and cheese to follow. Can’t wait!
Arboretum night hike sounds very cool. What town?
Cleveland area. The arboretum is in Kirtland, OH.
I’ve been to the Holden Arboretum. My mom might have been a docent there. Have fun!
Your night sounds a whole lot better than mine- enjoy! ????
Night hikes are nice! Enjoy!
Thanks for the recommendation–I love both orange blossom and cheap thrills.
Not really playing today, but I received a 20 % full bottle of Iris Ganache yesterday, and have therefore decided to spritz myself lavishly. A small touch of bergamot is the only fruit this one claims, but I smell so good.
Enjoy your new acquisition!
What a prize! I have a partial bottle I am savouring as well. You smell great.
I got a sample of this recently and it’s just delicious! I might actually join you in wearing this today, phooey on fruit!
oh, you lucky duck! enjoy!!!
Forgot to wear perfume before leaving the house (which happens almost never, I wear perfume if I am staying home and vacuuming). I saw today’s post as I was returning emails and getting tea and thought I have a decant of Bombay Bling in my desk drawer at work. It seems like a lot of tropical fruits I probably can’t name but should fit the bill.
I can’t remember when was the last time I forgot to wear perfume. On some occasions (not too often) I might choose not to wear it but probably never just forget.
I’m also wearing BB today. The main fruit I get from the opening is mango but after that – I’m not sure (and do not really care) but I love it!
My SOTD is fragrance I wore religiously every summer from 1994-1996- Escada Limited Edition 1994 Un Ete en Provence (with seven fruits!!!)
Top notes: pineapple, apple, cherry, nectarine and pear
Mid notes: jasmine, peony, lotus, cyclamen, lychee and watermelon
Base notes: praline, amber, cedar and sandalwood
This was the first bottle I purchased during my first trip to Paris and it is still in my top 20 scents of all time.
Also, testing The Pour Un Ete and Violette Verte …The reminds me a bit of Cristalle
I love Escada scents….all of them remind me of summer’s good times!
They are perfect for the summer!
Delicious!
🙂
tomorrow is the big baby shower..I will let you know how the guest like the soap. I also bought some fake lavender for decoration and will get some real flowers for the tables.
Oh good luck with that! yes, let me know if everyone likes their goodies 🙂 The decorations sound perfect!
Uncle Serge’s Fille et Aiguilles for the chutney-spiced fruit. Perfect for a cold winter’s day.
I like this one, but can only wear it during the few cold days we get in TX each winter.
One of my favourite scents, i wore it last night.
A lot of people consider this a christmas or winter scent but I love to wear this in summer as well.
The smell of pine and incense in summer is just magical.
Reminds me of the french Atlantic coast region, where I spent a lot of holidays when i was young.
Pine trees warming up under the hot sun, a visit to a roman church in one of those small beach towns in the Médoc, the boozy fruity smell of those gorgeous rich wines….
Oooh…only recently got my sample do I haven’t had a chance to wear it in summer yet. Will have to try that! Might work for our (summer) xmas season 😉
Yes, that’s exactly what it reminds me of! Summer in les Landes in the pine groves near the beaches.
it’s so gorgeous – at any temperature
Actually, it seems like ‘Fille en Aiguilles’ might be one of the 8-10 fragrances Serge Lutens will discontue when his upcoming relaunch (new graphic design, 100ml bottles, etc.) will be introduced to the buying public.
I hope that’s not true!!!!! 🙁 It just cant be true, I have the impression it is one of SL’s most beloved scents…
I know. If it turns out to be true – which it does look like – then it’s a really surprising move.
(yes i am aware that ‘beloved’ does not equal ‘commercial succes’, but still …would be a shock for me. FeA has a special place in my heart. It made me fall in love (again) with perfume and pushed me down that rabbit hole…
I know what you mean. I just stocked up on ‘Serge Noire’ (in case it does get discontinued, which it increasingly looks like) and that is not exactly everybody’s favourite fragrance but I just really love it so much.
I’m horrified… In addition to the fact that I think 100 ml bottles (and bigger) should be outlawed in general ;), any new bottles/design, in my experience, means definite reformulation. 🙁
It would be a great surprise if this whole relaunch doesn’t mean reformulation all over the board
Arrgh! Do you know when that will happen? Which ones are going? I had heard that the export series was rotating but not that some would be discontinued 🙁
There are 8 rumoured to be discontinued, including Serge Noire, Vitriol d’Oeillet, A La Nuit, Bas de Soie, Arabie, Fille en Aiguilles, Daim Blond, and Cedre.
Oh, and all of the Vapo Tout Noir series.
I enjoy wearing Fille et Aiguilles in winter as well. For me it’s a Christmas scent.
You smell great!
When I think fruit I think of good old 4711 eau de cologne, my new summer staple: tons of cool breezy citrus with herbs and roses. Is there anything more refreshing?
I just got a couple of bottles of 4711 – not the original, but the Blood Orange and Basil, and the Mandarine and Cardamom. Really quite good summer colognes, and so inexpensive!
Eau de Colognes and citrus are my fav fruits!
I started fruity week with Mary Greenwell, so I’m ending it with Mary Greenwell – but this time with Cherry. Cherry by name and cherry by nature! I loved it so much when I bought it about a month ago that I went back and bought a back up bottle.
Bob – I know you like the Mary Greenwell Plum, and I have a FB that is in my ” Dear God No” pile.
I’d love to send it to a good home that isn’t mine 🙂
Send me an email at t f k 3 1 ( no spaces) in the land of yahooooo and I’d be thrilled to send it to you
That’s incredibly generous of you and if you were in the UK I would snap your hand off! Maybe another Plum lover on here would like it…
Hannahmom is in Canada.
BobH – would the Royal Mail grab it if it is mailed from the colonies?? 😛 Canada Post is not usually an issue
Workout.
Triple strength coffee.
I am bi-scentual today.
LOLOLOL. 😉
Escada Tropical Punch on left arm. Passion Fruit, guava, hibiscus, peach, white musk. No sweetness.
Good Life Woman Davidoff on right arm. Ylang Ylang, fig leaf, sandalwood.
Compare and contrast!
Slice O’Life.
How come I never remember to NOT wear the white chalky antiperspirant/deodorant with a tank top until I’m over a friend’s house?
Attractive white clumps in armpit hair.
LOLOLOL
Goes on ‘invisible’, does not remain that way.
LOL. 😉
Live and learn. Maybe.
Carpe Diem. Peace.
Onward and upward——–>
You smell awesome! Good Life is another one of my long lost loves. How come my lost human loves keep resurfacing, and my perfume never does? Lol
You smell so good that no one will notice the chalky deodorant 😉 .
Just take Tom Ford’s advice and never wear deodorant. Learn to love the smell of sweat like he does! 😉
Sometimes.
That is a ‘situational’ thing.
LOL
Cheers!
😉
I think I know what you mean… 😉
Matthew McConaughey doesn’t wear deodorant either! I’d rather see some chalky deodorant than smell him….of course, that’s situational too! 🙂
HOUSE TWINS!!!!!!
Have you worn Tropical Punch, chocolatemarzipan8 ?
I’d like to hear what you thought of it. TIA.
Bear, I have worn every single LE Escada…but I always got them as soon as they were released…so my mind is a bit fuzzy on Tropical Punch as the release date was 2001 but I do remember that it was sweet…I think out of all the Escadas the only one that did not appeal to me was Lily Chic…I gave it to my mom who drained the juice and then returned the bottle to me.
Thanks!
TP, (pun not intended, but maybe LOL) has gone from tart to sour, on my skin.
It has been stored properly, so it is skin chemistry. I think I will wear Hanae Mori EDT after some yard work.
The strawberry-bilberry confection that is super sweet!
Like me! !!!!!
LOL. 😀
hanae mori for women? LOVE that one!!! drained at least two bottles! You will smell really really good 🙂
I would say workout twins, but I suspect that your workout puts mine to shame!
Any workout is a good workout, Jalapeno
Just pace yourself, it really helps in all life aspects.
😀
Workout twins!
OK boss!
HAPPY FRIDAY!!!! Soooo ready for the weekend! 🙂
Super fruity in Bvlgari’s Omnia Paraiba. One of my favorite scents for summer, and one of the few my hubs seems to notice, because he likes passion fruit!
Have a good weekend! We are taking a day trip to Chattanooga tomorrow with the kids, to visit the Tennessee Aquarium and just take a break from work and summer school/grad school. Gotta remember to stop and breathe every now and then! 🙂
Paraiba is really nice.
Have fun in Chattanooga! We love taking the kids to the aquarium!
We like the TN Aquarium better than the GA Aquarium! LOL I like the way TN winds around, so you can see everything….
Have a happy weekend and breathe deeply! How fabulous to be able to visit Chattanooga ‘in real life’. Some places exist so strongly in the imagination through literature, music or the imagination that I get a jolt of pleasure when they are mentioned in a factual context. – and Chattanooga is one of those mythical locations.
House cousins..today I put on Omnia Coral lotion after my morning shower.
My hubs picked me up after work and said “do you have perfume on”?
I was a bit stunned because I couldn’t smell anything and he doesn’t say anything usually other than “that smells spicy” or “that smells musky” or ” that smells woodsy or powdery or sandalwoody”.
I asked him “what do my iris perfumes smell like?
He says “they smell flowery”.
Clearly my work is still not done.
I don’t really have a lot of fruity in my collection, so I’m wearing Keiko Mecheri Peau de Peche from a sample. Peachy, for sure!
School is officially out for the summer! Woo hoo!
My daughter and I went to Lush the other day to get her teacher an end of the year gift. They really have a great collection of prepackaged gifts that I’d never paid attention to before. Then yesterday my husband forwarded me this article he saw on one of the blogs he reads
https://heatst.com/culture-wars/lush-insists-it-doesnt-pressure-staff-to-get-naked-and-show-bare-bottoms-for-green-activism/?link=TD_heatst_articles.47942&utm_source=heatst_articles.47942&utm_campaign=circular&utm_medium=HEATST
Who knew? There was no nakedness on our visit. Lol.
(Robin, I hope this doesn’t violate the commenting policy with the nakedness and all.)
Hmm, just had a quick re-read of the commenting policy, madtowngirl. Looks like you’re allowed to write comments naked so long as you don’t start a fight. HTH. ;^)
Nah, it’s just a link. I don’t mind links to naked 😉
No fruity perfumes with me, unless you count the lemon-y zest of Chanel Eau de Cologne, but that doesn’t suit my mood or the temperature here at the moment. I’ve chosen Sycomore, but it’s really a bit too cold right now for it to bloom. Its austerity seems to match this landscape, though. It always feels slightly remote and brooding to me, and that fits well too.
We’re on the move again today, though not very far: about 100 miles down the road to see Mt Hood ( we travel hopefully) and other beauty. Yesterday was cold and intermittently rainy, but we still managed a couple of walks and a trip along along the Columbia. It’s magnificent country, but I was torn in my emotions between feeling awe at the engineering achievement (who couldn’t be impressed?) and deep sadness for the destruction of the sacred sites and millennia of ways of life along the river.
This is a restful holiday and I have time to do a lot of thinking. Every day I sleep better and feel well-er. I hope you’re all feeling as good as I do!
Sycomore is perfect for Pacific NW! It smells like “Old Man’s Beard” ! Have fun on your trip!!
Old Man’s Beard ( clematis vitalba) is a common noxious weed here and yet I have never noticed its scent. It is the only weed to have had its own TV campaign when, back in the 1980s, the naturalistic David Bellamy was on our screens every evening with the catchcry “Old Man’s Beard Must Go!”
Yesterday I brought out the big Times atlas so I could follow your journey. And now I’m on the mend I can test all the wonderful samples you gave me. Life is good!
Cheating slightly as citruses are obviously a whole different perfume group, but the orangey Eau des Merveilles was too good to resist.
Love Eau des Merveilles, but I seldom get much orange from it. It’s a front-runner for next week’s “smells like nothing else I own” theme though.
I love the orangey cloud of EdM.
You smell fabulous.
#citrusforthewin
#orangesarefruitytoo
Miyako! Leather & apricots. The more I wear this one, the more I like it.
Topic of discussion (if anyone cares to discuss): it seems like there is a hierarchy of fruits in the perfume world (from loved to loathed). My own ranking (with many blank spots) is below. What’s yours?
0. Citrus — beloved, but not considered a fruit note by many
1. Stone fruits (plum, peach, apricot) — loved and venerable (Femme, Iris Gris!)
2. Weird over-ripe notes (rotting melon, papaya…)
….
….
….
10023. Generic “berries”, especially of the “sparkling” variety
10024. Aquatic “melon”
10025. “Froot”
Agree, beloved citrus often gets a zero ranking. Citrus top notes are so common and fleeting they are taken for granted.
As a citrus lover I really had to stretch my brain and nose for something fruity and low-citrus to wear today. That’s why Insolence edt won out over Un Jardin sur le Nil.
I like this list, but I would suggest inserting fig in there near the top, maybe as number 3? It’s one many people love and is featured in many popular fragrances that get respect.
Agreed! As soon as I hit “post” I went “OH NO, FIIIIIIIG”.
I’m doing “an attack with fruit” today, so I’m wearing: Eau Exotique, Eau Turquoise, Eau à la Folie, Eau Corail and to top things off Escada’s Rockin’ Rio. Life doesn’t get much fruitier than this.
Fruit salad day 🙂
I bet the Escada Rio is a happy scent.
If anyone remembers the Wiggles the first thing that comes to mind for me is their song “Fruit Salad” (“yummy yummy”)
Ha! I miss the days of watching the Wiggles with my kids.
House twins!!!!!
Yes! It’s the only Escada I own although I do remember trying a lot of them back in the day. I used to be rather embarrassed about my love for this fragrance, but fortunately I have moved on. It’s fun, cheerful and unpretentious.
Oh, you smell(ed) amazing!
Twinning in Arielle Shoshanna! I plan to top it off with FM Outrageous later.
I am drinking a Jasmine Lily Blooming Tea – one of those tea balls that bloom as they steep in hot water. It’s so pretty 😀
hey twin
Me too! (Arielle Shoshana twin. My tea is a vanilla honey bush.)
I like that Arielle Shoshana, but forgot to put my sample in my bag.
Hey, we’re a club!
I went with full-on orange grove in Azemour les Oranges. Leaves, moss, orange pith – I swear I even smell the soil of the grove in Azemour today. Ahhhhh.
You smell fantastic. Azemour is such a great citrus chypre
Thanks lucasai! I think so too. 🙂
Sotd is the only recent Escada LE, that turned my head. Born in Paradise. It is of course fruity with pineapple, and guava, but has more vanilla and musk than some of the others. The other night my daughter graduated from eighth grade. When we were ready to leave the house she quick ran back to her room to spray her Tommy Girl! Icing on the cake for me:)
Good work!
Creating perfume users the world over.
Cheers lillyjo!
Born in Paradise is my favorite Escada too. Not overpowering; perfect in heat and humidity!
Wow! Lots of house twins for me today 🙂
I don’t have much with fruit, other than Atelier, which didn’t suit my mood. I’m in a blind buy of Deauville by Michel Germain. I find it meh, but it certainly is fruity!
Sorry you ended up in meh!
My choices were quite limited, since I don’t really have anything that showcases fruit much. Could have gone with Galop sample for quince or coconut via Terra-cotta. Wish I had more – seems to be a gap here…
Then I remembered the incredibly cheap rose/peach scent I bought last summer or fall at a WalMart. Created by Calice Becker. So, a spritz of Love 2 Love Fresh Rose + Peach for this morning. Fades quickly, don’t much like the opening…but it settles down as a pleasant skin scent in warm weather.
I went w/ Galop today despite my mixed feelings on quince. 😉
Well, figs are a fruit, right? Philosykos EDP, which is the only one I have that’s “about” a fruit.
Plus, it’s really good. Enjoy Friday, everyone!
Love this one! I also tend not to think of fig perfumes as “fruity” — despite my love of eating figs.
I don’t quite think of them as “fruity” either, at least not in perfume. It’s odd, but judging by this week’s comments, we’re not alone!
Twins! We smell great!
We sure do!
I’m in EDT, so twinish!
Smelling good!
Definitely siblings. 🙂 I’ve never decided if I like the EDT or EDP more, do you have a preference?
Tried both as decants and decided on a FB of the EDT. It’s very green and more sparkling to my nose.
Oranges are not the only fruit – but they are a fruit, so Orange Sanguine is it today…
Yes to oranges! I love citrus fragrances. You smell great.
Twin today! 🙂
Wore that one yesterday! You smell wonderful!
Wearing a fruity cheap thrill: J.Lo Miami Glow. Passion fruit, blackcurrant, grapefruit, coconut. I barely wear it, but when I do, it is lot of fun. Happy Friday everyone!
You smell great. I actually spritzed this everywhere last night as a diversion-so much fun!
I love a good cheap thrill! I haven’t tried that one but I bet you smell great.
My favorite of the Glows. Perfect for summer.
Full on fruit with Prescriptive’s Calyx. I bought a .5 oz. bottle a few years ago at a Ross. I don’t use it much, but I am almost out. Does anyone know how the Clinique version compares?
I haven’t smelled the old version in a long time, but I’ve read elsewhere (and my vague memories + a recent try of the new version confirms) that the Clinique version is a bit “cleaner” — I still found it enjoyable but less distinctive than I remembered.
I don’t like the Clinique version nearly as much personally. Cleaner yes and somehow more screechy.
Ain’t that always the reformulation way? 😉
Still have some in my last bottle from the 90’s….love it!
The Clinique version is very much paired down…no super ripe tangy fruit…it is much more subdued and more floral to my nose.
The only fruit I smelled in the Clinique version was grapefruit. I could smell guava, grapefruit, and some other fruit that I couldn’t quite ID in the old Prescriptives version.
You smell fantastic!! I also have a Prescriptives bottle. Such a happy fragrance!
I smelled the Clinique version last year; I kept waiting for something to happen, but it never did.
Slumberhouse Kiste. Boozy peach. I have only worn this during the colder months, so thank you Robin for this community project! ????
Love that one. You smell great!
Thank you Gi!!
Glad you are having fun with it!
Nice!
1 arm has a spritz of A. Shoshana
the other arm Moonlight in Heaven..thank you Elisa P (from the freebie meet)
Just came back from Central Park with the kiddos.
Enjoyed a nice cup of coffee from Culture Cup this morning.
How do you find the Kilian?
Oh good, your order came?
I am liking the by Killian!
Robin, I ordered and they shipped the same day, and I got some samples! Win Win
Nice!
Passion fruit smells so much better than it looks! The Arielle Shoshana EDP is on my FB list.
I’m wearing Hermes Eau de Rhubarbe Ecarlate. The tart and bright opening is so invigorating, that I just keep spraying to sustain the experience.
I am hoping that A.S comes up in the split meet. I would like to partake in that..I don’t have anything like that in my little collection
Agreed! It sounds so interesting.
I’d be in on that one, too. I’ll probably wear it next week, definitely don’t have much like that one.
I am hoping she starts selling minis or travel sprays……
There’s a mini which is a GWP 🙂
You are naughty! hee!hee! But then I would have over 100ml of juice because I think the GWP is only if you buy the full size bottle
and, I am still on a no buy!
Sunny and warm so went peachy with Roger & Gallet Fleur d’Osmanthus topped off with DS&Durga Spirit Lamp which lists “peach water” as a note. Considered my sample of Durga for that rotting melon note but today’s a day where sniffing it made me teeter on the edge of queasy.
Today on the way to Central Park I smelled Santal 33 on the streets, one near where I live and the other in Central Park on a passerby..
I think that’s their best seller so not surprised. I hope you had fun in the park! It was a gorgeous morning out. And good luck with the baby shower. Sounds like it will be lovely.
Eeeek on rotting melon!
I think I will follow eleanor_rigby and put on my sample of Jardins Ecrivans Wilde. I liked that one more than I expected to based on the notes. I’m heading to urgent care very soon to figure out why my eyelid is swollen and painful. Ugh, it hasn’t been a fun 18 hours, and I probably should have gone yesterday. I was hoping it would clear up on its own after I rested and used a warm compress last night. Anyway, I figure I shouldn’t scent myself too heavily for the doctor.
Good luck. I hope your eyelid clears up quickly. Smelling good can always help and the medical staff are used to all kinds of smells that aren’t nearly as agreeable as Wilde.
Thanks, Wendysue!
Ouch. Hope it clears up soon!
Ack! Hope they can get it taken care of.
Thanks, you guys. It’s just a dumb stye. I got some antibiotic eye drops and will keep up the warm compress often.
In SOTD news I brought my sample of Ramon Monegal Impossible Iris to work, so as soon as Wilde fades more, I’ll switch to that. It’s got a really nice raspberry note and is my favorite of the RM perfumes I’ve tried.
Good, hope that it resolves quickly.
Thanks, I hope so too.
If you want more, email me. As much as I love it, I don’t wear it often enough and I am happy to share 🙂
Thanks so much for the offer, but I wasn’t feeling it as much today as I did the first time I tried it. I so appreciate you though!
I want to try that Arielle Shoshana!
I’m wearing Laura Biagiotti Venezia — I smell very fruity and very 90s!
Oh I loved Venezia..had that along with Venezia Pastello many years ago.
Windy and cloudy here, but warm. Wearing a big spritz of Tauerville Fruitchouli Flash to the chest, plus one spritz on each wrist of Burberry Brit Red and Guerlain Nuit d’Amour.
Happy fruity Friday!
REd..mmmm…the best rhubarb around.
You reek! Could you imagine if an outsider reads this and thinks we must hate each other?
🙂
SotD = Guerlain Insolence EdT
I laugh every time I spritz this violet-berry lollipop. A bit of powder and iris keeps me coming back for another sniff. Plus the little 30 ml bottle is crazy-cute.
Have a fabulous Friday, NST. You smell terrific.
Nice pick!
Thanks, Robin, it’s so easy to enjoy. Insolence is the fruity fragrance for Guerlain lovers and for the anti-fruit folks, too.
You smell fantastic!! Love it. Another fun fragrance!
I chose a fragrance that I used to wear back in the day, YSL Champagne. Just two light sprays because it”s warm today. I found a vintage bottle which I hoard. So good. Happy Fruday all!
Lucky you! You smell fabulous!
SOTD remains my fav “fruit” – Cartier So Pretty edp for a re-dux. It has the most delicious blackberry and rose combo ever!
LOVE So Pretty. You smell great
Un jardin sur le Nil, Hermès
(from a travel mini)
Probably the fruitiest scent in my collection (If we can all agree on considering grapefruit/citrus as a fruity note 😉
And yaaay its friday!!!
Whoops, meant to reply to you, Jiji, see my comment just below please 😀
Still my fave of the jardins
Its a tie for me between this one and Mediterranee. 🙂
Après la Mousson was a dislike for me at first. But I tried it a few weeks ago when it was really hot weather, and suddenly it made more sense. I was not even bothered by the melon (Usually melon is a total miss for me).
I actually like the melon note in that one-probably because it’s watermelon and not cantaloupe or other musky melons. It smells like a watermelon agua fresca with a dash of cardamom to me. I actually wished the melon hung around longer.
I get a lot of the same impressions as you, Elisa. I really like Mousson. It comes in second place in the Jardin series for me, with Mediterranee in the top spot.
I read somewhere that JCE thought Après la Mousson his most under-appreciated creation.
I remember reading that in one of his books, probably Diary of a Nose.
You smell great. I almost wore Nil this morning.
Fragrance without citrus would be like chocolate without vanilla. Still wonderful, but not the same. So perhaps citrus is the BEST fruit. 😉
Thank you!
Citrus does not always get the love it deserves. Maybe we can compare them to great backup singers? – I recommend 20 feet from stardom, if you want to hear more about great backup singers by the way. Great watch.
And I think I’ll wear Dilettante later on tonight, more love to the great citrus family!
Dilettante is awesome by the way. Must try for orange blossom and orange lovers.
I love citrus as a backup player and the main show. My first perfume obsession was Love’s Fresh Lemon, so it stands to reason 🙂
Loved Love’s Fresh Lemon..did you also wear any others (Baby Soft, Rain, Wind?)
I wore Love’s Baby Soft and Rain way, way back when.
Going fruity with Cacharel Amor Amor. So looking forward to the weekend!!
On the road to New Haven again, to spend the weekend with Bookworm (who will not be home until August). Wearing Hilde Soliani Ti Amo Il Tuo Tulipano, which is a little like a tutti frutti yogurt, all tangy and creamy fruit. It’s peach, passionfruit, lime, kiwi, blackcurrant, freesia, musk and sandalwood. Nice.
Safe travels and your perfume sounds dreamy!
Safe travels and your perfume sounds dreamy.
OOPs! how did that happen?
Wearing Slumberhouse Pear + Olive. Not the fruitiest but it counts, right? I think it’s a little too simple for me to crave a full bottle, but it does smell delicious.
Everything counts!
One of my favorite scents. It is hard to find this now that it has been discontinued. I find decants every now and then, but even they are getting harder to find.
I’m in Shangri La today. I don’t think of this as fruity but it does have a big peach note.
Peach notes definitely count…
Love!
In Philosykos today! Love it! It’s probably the only fruit centered thing I have right now (although it’s just as much green leaves as fruit to me). I keep catching whiffs of myself and it makes me happy!
It makes me happy too.
Pulp!
I really gotta try that one! You all have me so intrigued lol!
It’s pretty much what it says on the bottle – fresh pulp of ripe fruits. 🙂
I wore this at the beginning of the week. Its just one of those scents that puts a smile on your face. I ❤it.
Twin! :^)
Triplets!
Froot!
Serge Lutens is relaunching with new graphic design, adding new bottle sizes, discontinuation of old trusted fragrances, adding a new line soon, etc., so I have chosen to wear ‘Ambre Sultan’ in this swelteringly hot weather and the herbal amber is unfolding so beautifully.
Thanks for the heads up !
Ambre Sultan and Iris Silver Mist are the two I have backups for.
Oh wait I have two Fumerie Turque.
LOL
You smell great!
You’re very welcome, Mr Bear! Really different graphic design but now that Shiseido fully owns the copyright to SL, they want to expand. Seemingly they even want to make the slimmed-down former ‘Export’ line now called ‘Black’ line available in places like Sephora…
Noooo! Say it isn’t so!
I appreciate the heads up. How did you learn about this?
Brave move on AS in the heat. It’s great. I have a decant languishing in my perfume box. In my climate, it wears me. Be well!
Through Serge Lutens’ own Instagram account, with more details available on the Basenotes forum. The company had a new lauch in Paris a few days ago with a presentation of the new design and two new fragrances.
Oh. My. God. ????
My first, ignoble reaction was, “When are the old-bottles hitting the discounters?”
Oh yeah!
Guys! which one could we share?
Hahaha! Yes! They are already available for a reasonable discount here in Germany and have been for a long time.
Or, they could be relegated to super expensive and hard-to-find. It’s always hard to know which way the winds will blow…
Oh goodness. Thanks for the alert. Any idea which perfumes will be discontinued?
The ones that have stuck in my head are:’Serge Noire’, ‘Arabie’, and ‘Fille en Aiguilles’. Two of the bell jars are set to be added to the new main line.
Oh no.
I wonder now. Could this be the reason one of the big department stores here in Netherlands was selling a few SL’s heavily discounted last winter???
I grabbed a bottle of A La Nuit by the way. Because 50 % off is almost free, right? 😉
Oh no! What a bummer… two of the ones I love seem to be on the chopping block. The list I found on Basenotes has the following scents listed: Arabie, Bas de Soie, Sa Majeste La Rose, A La Nuit, Gris Clair, Jeux de Peau, Daim Blond, Cedre, Serge Noire, Fille en Aiguilles, and Vitriol d”Oillet.
Robin, I hope this was OK to post.
Dame’s Cassis, Rose & Sandalwood today. Lots of black currant and rose, no sandalwood to my nose. It’s very frooty! (And my first to try from the line; my box of samples arrived yesterday.)
Sometimes this one is nice and playful, sometimes it’s too little-girlish for me. But it’s worth trying out! Those Dame scents are really nice in summer, too. Hope you enjoy the rest of your box!
That sounds nice!
You smell great. I don’t get much sandalwood out of it, either.
Today my choice is Memoire de l’Amour from Nostalgia Collection, a recent purchase. Listed top notes include apricot, plum, peach and apple, so I think it counts! Most of what comes across is milky vanilla. Very sweet and not my usual sort of thing but it’s just plain “pretty”, and is something to wear to get yourself into a good mood!
Not a fruit fan (except for citrus-y colognes) but I’m wearing the last of my one fruity love – HdP 1969. Reminds me of being in my grandmother’s kitchen when she was baking fruit coffee cake. Chances of me giving in and buying one of those 15ml bottles later today are very, very high . . . .
Hey, shoot me an email if you’re in the US. pretsky 35 at hot male
Done 🙂
This is one of my favorites — love that it comes in a 15ml too!
Le Galion Tubéreuse! An effervescent fruit punch of pear, mandarine, pink berry, and raspberry.
I wouldn’t have thought of this one as a fruity fragrance – interesting!
Oh, I like that one! But I get mostly tuberose with some fruity accents (pear and citrus) out of it, so I didn’t even consider it for today.
Yes, I get mostly tuberose as well. I think the fruit accents make it more wearable for me.
Work day but I can honestly say I smell better than ANYONE here! I’m feeling like Donatella because of Floppers incredible generosity! I’m in SHL Taklamakan. Thank You, Flopper ????
???? ????
You do smell pretty darn good-almost as good as I do ????
Happy Friday All! I’m wearing my all-time favorite scent; Nectarine Blossom &Honey by JM. To me, its the ultimate fruity scent. This was the fragrance that sent me down the rabbit hole. Have a great weekend everyone.
So nice to wear a favorite isn’t it? I’ll have to give that one a shot simply based on your love for it!
Yay! Let me know what you think when you try it.
So far just Amoreuse body oil, (don’t worry, I just put 1/2 a sample in the oil, and it’s beautiful…)
Might put a little bit of something citrusy on top?
I think I’ll do better in Oddball week than fruity week!
Oh, oddball week! Great idea! ????????
Oh I think the author is credited above, but I definitely have more oddballs in my collection than any other genre 🙂
Helloooo! boy, did this week get away from me. I was excited to be fruity all week, but did not get a chance to post, so here are my SOTD’s:
Monday–Ineke’s Briar Rose (so jammy!)
Tuesday–SL’s La Fille de Berlin (spice jam)
Wednesday–Hermes Jardin sur le Toit (pears)
Thursday–Hermes Jardin sur le Nil (mango!)
Friday–Malle Parfum de la Therese (just WOWZA)
Here’s to a fruity weekend–I just got some gorgeous strawberries from the organic farm stand near me….fantastic.
Thanks for the mention of Jardin Sur Le Toit. Now that my cheap stuff has worn down, I think that’ll be the second fruity one since I do love it. You smelled very good all week!
You smell great today!
Great list! I bought strawberries and rhubarb at the outdoor market today too. Pie!!
Wowzers! You were a veritable fruit salad!
I’m wearing Bat, from my set of Zoologist samples. It smells like…fruit compost? But in a nice way. I love it.
Bat is so good! The minerals don’t make me think of compost so much – they’re too chilly – but I can see how you might get that impression.
I’m in Kenzo Flower L’Elixir this morning, and smelling like a raspberry trifle!
Yes you are! Good choice.
Not sure if this qualifies – The Rising Phoenix Poisoned Fig. Spicy and very smoky fig. When I smell it, I get hungry – I get a mental association that someone took a fig, stuffed it with blue cheese, wrapped it in prosciutto, grilled it and then drizzled it with honey. I might just make this for dinner 🙂
Clarissa, I’m never going to fit in my clothes if you post such mouth-watering ideas! ;^)
Don’t know if I want to smell like that, but it sounds delicious!
That description made me salivate!
Oh my God…and I would add balsamic glaze to finish!
Happy Fruity Friday!
SOTD = Chanel No. 5 L’Eau
Had the weather been cooler ?and not expected to get HOT, I would have worn SSS Equistrius for the apple note. Since Plan A was not going to work today, I opted for a perfume with fruit instead. L’Eau has a lot of citrus toned down by aldehydes. The flowers are also non-distinct. The overall effect is a.nice light Chanelesque perfume, perfect for the office. I used a heavy hand (8 sprays) and since no one moved away from me, I think I can wear 2-4 more sprays.
I like your heavy-handedness. You smell great in L’Eau!
Thanks. It is just so easy to wear. The 50 mL fits nicely in my hand.
You smell fantastic! I love L’Eau more each time I wear it.
Me too! It actually may be scent of the cruise if I can only bring 1 bottle of perfume. But heh,mI know I’ll have variety since I am meeting up with the Vancouver perfumistas! Wahoo!
After wearing Hermes Rhubarbe Ecarlate for 2 days I realized I have another scent with rhubarb note- Amouage Honour- my SOTD.
Lovely fresh white floral with rhubarb and pepper, at least this is what I am getting through runny nose.
I almost wore that one today! The rhubarb in it somehow always reminds me of apple. Maybe it’s just some general dessert association?
I’ll have to dig out my sample–I don’t remember getting any fruit.
I’m traveling today and tried to participate at the airport store, but got distracted by my first sniff of Prada iris cedrat, which smelled a lot like a delicious cola (and I was very thirsty). Otherwise I would probably have gone with Alien, which no matter how much I smell it smells like grape jolly rancher to me.
Oh, cola — then I will have to try it.
I wish more perfumes smelled like cola! I will tell you iris cedrat lost the fizz after not too long, but gets close to infusion d’iris which is no bad thing!
Ah — still want to try it. But already have 2 bottles of IdI so might not need it!
SOTD is Byredo “Pulp”. Yeah, y’all thought you could hyperventilate about this for the best part of my time here and not have me try it?
Top: bergamot, cardamon and black currant;
Mid: fig, red apple and tiare flower;
Base: cedar, praline and peach blossom.
I don’t know, trying this sample this may be analogous to me arriving in Las Vegas for a day (LV being so not my natural habitat). I’m enjoying the experience, but I won’t be rushing back.
A very busy end to the week:
– last night there was a reunion of a programme team I worked with from 2011 to 2015. It was great to see so many old colleagues, and yet somehow outside the context of the old programme I didn’t have a lot to talk about. SOTE was BeauFort London “Coeur de Noir” which was fabulous with a bit of Summer heat behind it.
Top: rum, ginger and ink;
Mid: paper, leather and vanilla;
Base: cedar, tobacco and birch tar.
Then I got home and listened to the General Election coverage during the night, drifting in and out of sleep to the sound of declarations and analysis. Woke up more convinced than ever that the scriptwriters for the show we call Life have accidentally mixed their pages up with an Italian Comic Opera.
Today TOMK and I – well, we kind of got married. Calm down, it was no big deal! :^) We just upgraded our 2006 Civil Partnership to a full Civil Marriage, which wasn’t available to same sex couples in 2006. And apologies to anyone who experienced the end of the world at 14:00 BST.
Afterwards we went for lunch and came home. We did the whole ceremony and party (and to be honest, meaningful) bit 11 years ago and today’s event had all the emotional impact of paying an electricity bill over the bank counter. Although, I’ll probably file away in my memory that I did it wearing Pulp. ;^)
Congratulations!!!????
Thanks flopper!
Wishing you two a long and happy life together.
Cheers, Mals!
Congratulations!
Many years of health and happiness, to you and TOMK, Koenigsberg!
And that lalalalala sound you hear is me religiously ignoring and sounds emanating from Washington DC.
LOL 😉
Cheers!

Thanks Bear! I’ll duet with you to drown out Westminster. :^)
Congratulations !!!!!
Thanks hannahmom!
That’s lovely for the two of you, congratulations!
Thanks!
Wow! Congratulations!
Cheers!
Congratulations and best wishes, Koenigsberg!
Thank you!
Congratulations and best wishes for a continued happy life together!
Cheers!
Congratulations, and thank you for the freebie. It was love at first sniff!
Thanks! I’m chuffed you like it – it was just horrible on my skin, and I hoped that someone else would appreciate it more. :^)
I always picture Jarvis Cocker when People here mention Pulp and then I have ‘common people’ going through my head and kind of see a big waste bin outside a dreary supermarket, full of rotting fruit and veg. So, that’s Pulp in my head.
Congrats on the form signing. I think you need to splurge on a honeymoon and get it on!
Just caught up on your SL offer. Gosh you are kind and I appreciate the offer but I don’t want to put you through post office queues. Thanks though.
Thanks Kanuka. What queues? I outsource all that nonsense to TOMK, who as a music collector spends his life talking to postmen and couriers. So don’t be daft, if you fancy a sniff drop me a note. :^D
Wonderful! Come on, you should have another party. That sounds like a great excuse for a party. Congratulations!!!
Well, we had lunch WITH CAKE! What more could one want? ;^)
That’s great news! Congratulations!
Thank you!
Congratulations!
Cheers!
Congratulations!
Tank u wel! ;^)
Congratulations!! Maybe a nice getaway weekend is in order?
I’m working on it!
agree that Pulp is a nice scent to visit, but I couldn’t live there.
whoo-hooo!
three cheers to you and TOMK
all you need is love, love,
love is all you need 😉
Cheers tiffanie. :^)
Aww, congrats you 2! A Vegas wedding????
Ha! Our irony meters would explode!
Congratulations!
Thanks!
Did you say calm down? No way! CONGRATULATIONS!
Thanks lillyjo. The ‘Big Deal’ was 11 years ago, but it is nice to upgrade from 2nd class.
Well, *I* think it’s a fairly big deal.????Congratulations and all the best to you and TOMK, Koenigsberg!
Thanks Creosote. :^)
Awwww!!! Congrats! Marriage is the BEST!!
Cheers! It seems to suit us, anyway. :^)
Hehehe… my husband and I did something similar 3 years ago. 15 minutes at the courthouse, lunch at a nice restaurant, then on with life. Congratulations!!
I like your style, although your courthouse was superefficient. It took us twice as long. :^)
Well, ummm, I guess congratulations? OF COURSE IT’S A BIG DEAL!
Thanks hajusuuri. If I’m honest, it’s not a bid deal for our day-to-day life but could be important if we move to another country with same-sex marriage. That is, our marriage certificate would be understood where a civil partnership certificate might not. Sadly, there are still many countries that wouldn’t recognise either.
*big deal. No bid deals or auctions involved. Not until swapmeet anyway.
Congratulations! Best wishes for you both.
Thanks!
Adding very belated congratulations!!
Grotty day. Fruit not doing it. In Chincilla.
That’s a cure for a grotty day alright!
🙂
I am wearing Galop today…which I would call a fruity rose with some leather to boot.
Still not sure if I like it entirely. 😉 At times I think the quince displeases me and other times I catch myself thinking, “what is that great smell?”
Ditto. I have the same disparate reaction to Galop. I either love it or dislike it intensely– most days it’s both. And I sort of crave it. That odd combination of reactions almost always ends up with it jumling into my top 10 list, as I wrestle with trying to figure it out for a year and ultimately wind up with a complicated loving finale.
I had planned all week to wear Huitieme Art Poudre de Riz today (which despite the name, is fruity.) But I got distracted on the way and wanted to compare Chanel Beige edp to edt. It’s one I thought might actually improve with reformulation, and IMHO, it has. It’s fuller, rounder, richer and 3 hrs in, still going strong. (To my nose, the structure has changed, but smell-wise it hasn’t.)
Come to think of it, Beige will actually transition really well to Poudre de Riz, so I’ll wear it later today…
Also – PSA: the Chanel counter at the downtown Seattle Nordstrom store still has 3 Personal Chanel Counters available, if you regretted not buying one before they sold out. (I saw it in person and it’s adorable!) I have the Chanel Exclusifs rep’s phone number if anyone wants it (though I’m sure it’s not necessary – a call to the store ought to get you to her eventually.)
What on earth is a Personal Chanel Counter?
I’m going to place a bet and say that was autocorrect for Chanel Coffret?
I think it was a deliberate choice of words 🙂
Hiya, NST, how are ya? I’ve been sorta MIA lately for no good reason, really. Just summer lethargy, I guess.
My Fruity Friday scent is Annick Goutal Quel Amour! Juicy.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
Hey, we’re house mates! I’m doing Fruit Day in the oh-so-plummy Mon Parfum Cheri par Camille.
Excellent!
Good to see you! Have a great weekend!
Thanks, you too!
Another AG housemate!
We’re an AG fruit salad!
😀
There you are.
Yeah, I sorta fell off the radar, huh?
I have to consciously try this as I have no clue how this smells.
I actually hadn’t sniffed it until I received it in one of the swapmeets. I would describe it as “peonies + berries”. That is, that’s what comes across most, although there’s more notes like geranium, peach, amber. It’s just sweet enough and just tart enough, imho.
I, too, am in Pulp today as one of the Over The Top fruity fragrances I own. I did get a swimsuit yesterday at TJMaxx (also saw Marc Jacobs Decadence in the perfume area).
All you perfumistas in Arielle Shoshana smell wonderful! Alas, I was too greedy and used up my sample before today’s Fruity Friday, but I’m excited to have a FB starting its journey to me tomorrow, after the official launch party (best wishes, Arielle!).
In keeping with the theme, I’m wearing Olivine Atelier’s Gigi, a papaya delight that also includes bergamot, ylang, sandalwood, green tea, vanilla, and just enough gardenia to make it a lovely, instead of oppressive (I can rarely take gardenia on me). This one is my second favorite from the line, after Amongst the Waves, and is always great for hot, hot days like today.
I bave never smelled this one. The notes intrigue me! we seem to have a bumper crop of papayas in the past few months. My Wegmans stocks them and while they are not ripe on purchase, we’ e taken to ripening them inside an oven (not turned on) and they come out sweet and juicy. Also, if it is not sweet, you can leave it out in the open during the day and it will actually get sweeter!
I think I’ve done a 180 on Gigi. It was my least favorite of the few Olivine samples I got. Still not sure I love the fruity opening but it turns into a lovely vanillic skin musk that isn’t too sweet or foody and quite addictive! Forgot about that one this morning
I am wearing sunshine in a bottle, AC Cedrat Envirant. Freshly squeezed lime with a touch of G&T. Perfect!
Oh yes you do! I LOVE Cedrat Enivrant.
I just love this one. Most of the other AC’s were meh, but this one is just so lovely, just a shame that it doesn’t last very long. I only get about 2 hours out of it, but hey, just means I have to spray more and use up the large bottle!
I’m considering Missoni Acqua, which is to me essentially the aqua-shifted version of the original bitter chocolate-melon-aquatic fragrance.
You have the most unusual fragrances, nozknoz!
It’s too warm today for any of my fruit fragrances. They are better suited for cool days. However, AG Neroli is perfect for the beautiful summery day here! Have a fabulous weekend everyone!!
I asked for a sample of this at the Madison Avenue Annick Goutal and I got a darling mini!
Wearing woodcut as I am trying to match my perfume to Waterdragon’s travels. Really like it. A real woodstack smell with a hint of chainsaw ( but that might be a result of my weird nise). Decided to stop being sick as of today…a week is long enough.
Now…here’s a problem. The local department store has decided to stop stocking Hermes so everything is half price. The selection is pretty minimal anyway – definitely not a full range – but half price Kelly Caleche ( EDP in 100ml. EDT in 50ml ), Jardins/ monsoon, nile and rooftop, Voyage, Jours/ Gardenia . Not sure what to do as I don’t want 100ml bottles but I am tempted but it’s still $$$ that could go elsewhere, towards more exciting but less beautiful purchases. Or socks and underwear.
Kanuka, you need to find perfume friends to split with. In any case, hard to pass up bargains like these.
Half-price anything makes me happy. You can hold out until there’s a larger discount but then your selection would be even more limited. Or you could ask yourself would you pay the half-off amount for half the volume and if your answer is yes, buy it. because it effectively means you like/love it enough to pay full price
I love that you are matching your scent to Waterdragons trip.
Bargains can be so hard to pass up, can’t they? You can always split or engage in any of the alternate-use methods (linen spray, scenting laundry in the dryer, etc.). I personally would figure out if there were one or two that, later on, I would genuinely regret not snapping up.
half-price Hermes?
.
.
.
wait, I think I blacked out there for a moment?
did someone say half-price Hermes?
kanuka, this time you’ve got to take one for the NST team!
I’ve missed a few days this week, so let me mention here the wonderful Un Jardin Sur le Nil (mango!), Pdn Eau Exotique (mango again), Ava Luxe Johri (fig) and today’s SOTD – Diorella (melon, which I normally hate, and peach-lovely!).
I’m not keeping up these days, but will manage to join the fruity fun with Plum today.
I decided to go with Mitsouko today, the grande dame of peaches.
You smell fabulous! I have to admit that I can’t for the life of me get my nose/brain to detect any peach (based on the EDP, anyway). But boy do I love Mitsy.????
Happy Fruity Friday!
I’m in Pacifica Tuscan Blood Orange. Practically the only citrus I can do. Lovely juicy, tart but not schreeching.
You smell great! I wore that one yesterday.
Thanks!????
Haha, screeching????. Is that even a word?
SOTD = AG Ninfeo Mio EdT. Yes, figs are fruit!! This also might work for oddball week, too. It is great stuff in any case.
Love that one. You smell great!
Thank you!
Dropping in a bit late to say: Eau d’Italie Graine de Joie. Happy weekend, all!
I have a dabber of that one. It really is pretty.
I immediately thought of Histoires de Parfums 1804 (George Sand), but I wore that one the last time. And as I ended up spending most of the afternoon in the hospital radiology department (routine tests, at least routine for me), I thought I’d better go with something a little quieter, anyway. So: M. Micallef Ananda. On me, sour plum, underlaid by some non-descript, slightly soapy florals and white musk. I see that Fragrantica has “sweet” listed first, though, so it must be one of those perfumes where my natural bitterness counteracts all the sweetness. I like it better on a hot day. I got one of the cute 30ml bottles in my Micallef advent calendar.
Ananda is long gone, though, and I’m currently sporting Guerlain L’Heure Bleue from the Freebiemeet (thank you, Wendysue!) No fruit to speak of, but very lovely.
