Tuesday! Which at least means Monday must be over, right? (It's also Crown Roast of Pork Day, which is too much trouble for a Tuesday, and Cereal Day, which is less trouble but not very exciting.) What fragrance are you wearing?
The perfect match for a gin teapot would presumably be Demeter Gin & Tonic or Penhaligon's Juniper Sling, but I went with (boozy but not gin) Lush All Good Things.
Reminder: on 3/10 we're taking the Booze Cruise...wear a perfume with a booze note. Suggested by Koenigsberg.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image is a "G 'n' Tea tea set" ("Put the party back into tea-party with this tease of a tea-set! 1x 4 cup ' GIN' teapot, 2x 'GIN' teacup and 1x 'TONIC' milk jug."), £87.50 at Product Of Your Environment.
SOTD Sylvaine Delacourte Florentina. I am enjoying the not-quite-gourmand almond/vanilla mix. It goes well with my morning coffee 😉
what do you think? I tried a sample and I thought it was meh
It is a tad sweet for me, and there isn’t anything very interesting going on.. so yes, meh as well. Since it’s a simple office friendly scent I will happily finish the vial, but it’s not FB worthy for me.
I am more excited to wear similar almond/vanilla/tonka scents from the recent split meet that are closer to my preferences: Jo Malone Myrrh & Tonka and Prada Infusion d’Amande 😀
I felt the same way about it
Good luck with your splitmeet finds and report back!
I thought they were all meh.
Wow, first! I fail the boozy challenge as the warm (55) damp weather called out for violets, so I am wafting Apres l’Ondee.
Beautiful!! Apres L’Ondee is so lovely.
Waft some of the beauty my way please!
Good reason to fail!
SIgh.
I have hankered after a bottle of that since my first sniff. You smell lovely!
You guys are just adorable, all of you!
Oh yes. You smell wonderful!
So very pretty.
I went through my samples last night to find anything with a boozy note and wasn’t terribly successful. The principal and parents at my school might not like me “smelling like a brewery” as my mother would say, so I’m in Iris Nobile.
Very pretty!
Yeah, my school is kind of picky about that too!
I love that one!
My ! What a lovely tea se………screeeeeeeeechhhh ! BANG !
Shaking head, clearing it. 😀
Triple strength coffee!
Album of the day, for an extra long workout, because the music is rockin’ Station to Station- David Bowie.
Maximum volume is NOT enough.
M7 YSL- vetiver, oudh, a small amount of amber beneath.
🙂
Carpe Diem. Peace.
Favorite cereal: yellow box Cheerios.
Honey Nut ? No, thanks.
M7, Current formula or the vintage one?
Vintage.
Stocked up when I saw it at Macys years ago.
Knew it was too good for the mainstream department store customers.
Discontinued.
All brown monolithic bottle.
I bought it the day it was launched and it remains the only oud in my collection, because honestly, what more could you need?
Excellent !
Smart move! 🙂
I’ve read some reviews of the vintage/first edition and it sounds like something I’d like or love.
I am not very impressed by the new formula by the way, a bit dull.
Fantastic. At what point in your perfume journey did you figure out a great decision like stocking M7
as you did?
I was familiar with oudh from an Ajmal oudh I had purchased in 2001.
When M7 was released in 2002 it was more ‘wearable’, the Ajmal is beautiful, but VERY fecal.
A few years later, M7 wasn’t a blockbuster, so……..time to stock up.
No regrets.
And I like oudh, Dior Leather Oud is another favorite.
Rockin’ out with the best, Bear!
Turning on the Thin White Duke. 😉
Moderation, again.
OY !
Never too much Bowie.
You smell fabulous today, Bear. BTW, the mention of your triple-strength coffee never fails to make me smile.
Thanks Jalapeno !
I’m glad I can make you smile. 🙂
I mix plain yellow box and Honey Nut half and half to get that just right level of sweetness.
I’m very picky about cereal.
Either hot oatmeal or Cheerios.
Cinnamon Toast Crunch tastes like cardboard to me, everyone thinks that is bonkers. LOL
I am celebrating International Women’s day a bit early since I have busy day tomorrow and wanted to wish all my perfumista sister’s to be bold and (smell) beautiful
Tried my french press protocol a bit different this morning, thanks for your suggestions.
😀
Forgot..SOTD is Alahiiiiiiiiiine
MMMMMM. Alahine.
You smell wonderful!
Yes, you smell great.
Happy International women’s Day !
You smell great!
Happy International Women’s Day in advance! You smell lovely.
Wearing VP Mito, eating a lemon & lavender scone baked by my sister.
yum yum scones..
sounds like a lovely day!
Great combination of flavors and scent!
You smell great. Love VP.
Your scone sounds delicious!
I went for Hedonist Rose for today.
The opening white wine note is full of sparkle on my skin, and is light enough that I won’t get pulled in for accounting under the influence
Ha! “Accounting under the influence”!
Ha. This one is in my to-try list. The original Hedonist didn’t work for me, but I’m a sucker for anything with rose in the name.
Oh, me too! I’m so tempted by the travel set with all three- the pocket atomizers still have the jewels in the base, which just slays me.
I’m sure you smell great (have never tested that one) and I absolutely love those Hedonist bottles, so gorgeous! ????
When I opened the curtains this morning I was greeted by this grey rainy sky. AGAIN. I needed something uplifting and more sunny, so I went with A la Nuit. Too bad longevity is not that good.
Coffee, yes, I need at least three cups, strong and black, to wake me up.
After lunch, Jasmine tea to accompany A la nuit. 🙂
Jean Patou Normandie Ma Collection in pure parfum, so beautiful!
Gorgeous! I love the Ma Collection scents, too. Normandie is such a glamourous one.
What a great teapot!
SOTD is PdE Equistrius, a sample of which I unearthed from a found box of samples and decants in my kitchen drawer, of all places!
Beautiful day in the swamp today. Continuing my mad dash around town trying g to “get things done”!
Happy Tuesday and hope everyone is enjoying an ice cuppa something. It was hot not hot pour over coffee for me this morning and I am now WIDE awake????
Mmmm. You smell great!
You smelled great today!
Today is my Friday (I’ve got a 3 day break starting tomorrow!), so I’m wearing Ambre Russe which has a delightfully boozy opening and a soft as velvet dry down. Tea is Assam Halmari (with a load of letters following) with a drop of milk.
My favorite boozy scent, although I get more black tea than anything.
Love AR and that’s another that would work for me on Friday’s Booze Cruise. You smell great!
You smell fantastic and I really like that tea.
I think it’s great that we are both drinking Assams 🙂
One of my favorite ambers! YUM!
You smell great! I wish it was cool enough for me to wear AR on Friday.
SotD: I am wearing a drop of Patou Cocktail Dry. It is aged, but still wonderful with a bitter sweet herbal with a very old school civet base.
S(ip)otD: Upton Hattialli Estate Assam–very toasty and malty.
Your tea sounds good too. I love Assams,
Tea twins today! At least, that was my morning tea. Now on Mariage Freres Russian Breakfast, for lunch.
Your tea sounds yummy. I meant to place an Upton order yesterday since I’m almost out of my usual Zaloni assam. The last batch I ordered wasn’t as good, though, so I think I’ll try the Hattialli.
In the not boozy, but still wonderful, Avignon. Was a blind buy from the split meet and it is so perfect to me. Wonderful on a stormy, grey day like today. Chai tea is my drink this morning (well, after a doppio espresso!). Thankful for a co-worker who brought me lunch so I don’t have to leave the office in the rain!
Yay for that coworker, and not having to go out in the rain!
Found Elizabeth & James’s Nirvana Bourbon, which is a little on the nose, granted, but kind of pleasing to me.
You smell great! I enjoyed a sample of that one. Not enough for a FB, but it was nice. I preferred Nirvana Black. Have you tried that one?
I have tried it and liked it. I think my favorite though out of all of them is the Nirvana White.
On a crunchy-cold winter morning, what could be better than the sweet smoky leather of Lonestar Memories?
You smell so good. That’s another fragrance that needs more attention, especially while we have seasonally appropriate temperatures.
Hardly anything. 🙂 You smell amazing!
I can’t think of anything. You smell incredible!
Nuit de Tuberose from my new second hand bottle from eBay! and
thank u BobH for introducing me to this beauty, I’m really enjoying it’s strange gorgeousness very much.
It is a great scent. You smell wonderful !
I love that one! It is slightly odd, maybe the cardamom? I prefer it in warmer weather as it blooms nicely.
I love it best in summer, too. It’s in my top 5 for summer in fact.
Thanks for the comments on NdT… I need to try my sample in other kinds of weather, now. Curious as to what I will find.
I’m wearing Chanel Beige EDT that I received from the split meet. So soft and pretty! Now that I stay home with my baby instead of go to an office, I’m drawn to this much more than my old favorite, No 22.
You smell great. It’s a versatile fragrance and I imagine it can make you feel all put together, even if your day is hectic with baby centric activities.
Its such a cozy scent to cuddle up with a baby
Chanel Beige is the grown-up memory of the smell of a baby’s hair washed with J & J Baby shampoo. I love the smell of both. Enjoy every happy baby minute!
What a lovely description! 🙂
Busy day ahead. In my way to Philly for a meeting and back to NY late this afternoon. 4 cups of coffee already and wearing Balenciaga Paris (thanks a lot Kpaint!). Easy to wear and in some way comforting. Just what I need for a day like today.
Yay for coffee and perfume!
I’m not boozing today. Instead, I’m wearing Attache Moi, which I received in my Sens Unique box yesterday. So far, I love the soft, elegant woodsy patchouli of it, though it’s a bit light.
Oh my, lizbee! You are an enabler. It’s the first I’ve heard of this subscription. Attaché Moi sounds lovely.
Oh, boy! You’re in for it, Wendysue. ????
I got the Sens Unique box too, and have at least liked if not loved everything in it. That rarely happens. My sense of Attache Moi was very similar to yours.
I haven’t tried everything in the box yet, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I like this first one. I’ve tried other subscriptions and have been disappointed. I thought I’d give SU a try anyway, and I’m so glad I did.
Hah, I absolutely loathed both N-Cigale Black Lavender and 1907 Vanilla- the latter I think is probably a well done gourmand and just not for me, but Black Lavender I got 30 minutes in before I had to take a shower to scrub it off and flee the other way because of the sweetness assault.
I actually think that’s a huge positive in a subscription box, though! The variety is wide enough to provide some interesting experiences and I’d rather have 50/50 loves and scrubs than six “pretty good”s
The reviews for Black Lavender were not great, but I like it.
I agree. “Pretty good” isn’t enough.
Oh! Almost-twins, that’s what I was wearing last night!
I got my box yesterday too and loved Attache Moi from the first instant. I have a feeling a FB is not too far in my future. I was also pleasantly surprised by how much I liked ELdO Yes I Do, given how far sweet floral bouquets are outside my leather & cologne wheelhouse.
Yes, I Do is the one I’m most looking forward to trying next.
Love that tea set! Wonder if they make a bourbon set. 🙂
SOTD is Tabac Blond in extrait, courtesy of Rappleyea. Gorgeous.
Gin seems to be the liquor of choice for teapots, had trouble finding anything else!
And don’t you smell gorgeous! I think that one is especially appropriate for Woman’s Day eve!
oops! That should be the plural – *women’s*
I hadn’t thought of it that way, but you’re right – Tabac Blond’s backstory is sort of Early Women’s Rights. And now I have that song “Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better” stuck in my head. 🙂
Chanel Coco Parfum. A few small dabs worn over the lotion
wow wow
beautiful!
Mmmmmmm
Such a fantastic scent
You smell fantastic!
You smell perfect!
Had a craving for an old school chypre this morning so I went with Miss Dior Original. My only regret is that I did not spray more liberally. I fear it will fade before lunchtime.
One of my favorites! You smell great!
Good morning y’all…
Had to drive to downtown Atlanta for an apt, and I’m so bummed that I have to rush back to work afterward. No stops at Nordstrom’s or Nieman Marcus for sampling/sniffing! Probably saving me money though! 🙂
SOTD: Atelier Pomelo Paradis. Uplifting and cheerful!
I got a sample of this at NM a while back and loved it immediately!
I watched your YouTube Video yesterday (which I quite enjoyed, by the way) and jotted this one down. You have probably just become an enabler, because I will probably scoop up a bottle sometime in the near future. 🙂
Lubin Korrigan. I dug out the sample I got because of all of the NST kudos. When I tried it last year, I thought it was too masculine. I really like it today- it’s the scent of an elegant cocktail bar with comfy leather sofas, dark finished wood walls, and fragrant patrons.
Dark roast drip coffee today. I may need to attempt french press!
Ooh, that sounds really good. Might have to snag a sample and sneak it onto the back of my guy’s neck. ????
All the talk of green perfumes yesterday had me pull out my Heure Exquise decant. It’s hitting the spot on this drizzly day. I’m still in a phase where my tolerance for anything sweet is pretty low, which is at least having me use stuff in my collection I’ve been neglecting.
* awaiting moderation ????
Glad I’m not the lone ‘offender’. LOL
I’ve got it several times in the last couple of weeks. Robin, are you nervous of us?
No, but apparently my spam filter is!! But they must not get held up in the queue for long, because I never see them there or have to manually moderate them. So I think there is recently some sort of lag in the automatic spam filter thingie.
Twins! I have a small decant of this and some days it’s just right.
Yay!
Stay cozy and dry!
I do love green perfumes as well..will have to try this
You too! I find it similar to no 19 but maybe a little warmer?
I like HE (and have a bottle to prove) but I prefer it for a slightly warmer weather, I think. But you smell wonderful!
Thank you! It’s not too cold today and the base has some warmth. I’ll try it in warmer weather to see how it does.
I wore that yesterday in similar weather. I bought a bottle of the edp after having tested the edt. I recall the edt being more iris-forward. Anyone?
I got it from you! So thanks ???? I know tested it in an AG boutique and wonder if I tested the EDT because my recollection of it doesn’t quite match this one. But I could totally be confusing it with something else.
I figured as much! I haven’t worn it much but I’ve decanted a lot for folks around here. I loved it when I wore it from an edt sample but the edp has me much less swoony. That said, it is nice when I’m in the mood for it.
That’s a favorite of mine!
I’m wearing Byredo Gypsy Water, which is not strictly boozy but reminds me of limoncello!
I love Gypsy Water. How does it last on you? Seemed to fade quickly on me, but maybe I wasn’t dabbing enough from my sample?
Same here. I got a sample a while back and it lasted like a few minutes on me. I can’t even recall what it smells like because it didn’t last on me. And for me, longevity is everything. If it doesn’t last on me, I don’t buy it.
It lasts a few hours on me, but I think the spray bottle probably helps! I’ve read a few complaints about the longevity though, so I’m not surprised.
I was wondering if the spray bottle helped a bit. I’ve noticed a lot that sampling from a spray bottle or a sample vial makes a difference to me. I LOVED it though- the opening and the dry down- so maybe I’ll see if I can find a spray sample and try it again before I shell out for the fb.
Oh goodness, yes DO move from a dabber sample to a spray before committing to a bottle.
It smells like sheer vanilla to me and lasts all day. I haven’t worn it in a while.
Not boozy, but wearing Odin Petrana. On my skin it’s a WALL of powdery violet and iris, very dense, and very strong and long lasting. There’s no AIR in it, no space between the notes. Someone said that it’s a ‘dog whistle’ of a perfume, and I agree with that assessment– there’s just something about it that is a bit too much. I almost love it but not quite.
Taking a half day at work because my sitter’s out sick, so I’m able to participate in the NST SOTD. Woot!
A wall of iris and violet! I will check this out!
PSA: If you’ve been holding back on buying any Teo Cabanels, they’re doing their 40%-off sale on old packaging. See link: http://shop.teo-cabanel.com/private-sales,us,2,71.cfm
I still have a good 50mls of Alahine, but I’m tempted to back it up since packaging changes so often forbode formula changes. Somebody talk me down…if you can.
Jolie Madame extrait today, because it’s supposed to be 60F today. And because it’s beautiful, of course.
Is this perfume a blind buy, in your opinion?
No! I admitted here that it was just boring to me, and several others came out of the woodwork to say it didn’t do anything for them, either.
Hey- thank you! I do hear such good things about it! I think my favorite Oriental style perfumes are Boucheron, Fendi and TF Noir pour Femme.
NO. Took me four wearings to fall, but I fell hard.
No, but their sample set, at 11 euros, is. They are dabbers, though.
Oh- now that sounds NICE!
My wish list just got one bottle shorter. And I wasn’t supposed to be buying anything. Enabler!
Uh-oh.
I got this email too!
Ironically, I am wearing Alahine today and hoping they don’t change a thing
I can’t talk you away from the edge. What were you thinking of purchasing?
Oh, a backup of Alahine, of course.
Are you sure it’s due to a change in packaging? I opened the email to see if Barkhane was included, but it’s not. It has the same packaging as the others, as far as I can tell.
And I’m not going to talk you out of a backup bottle at that price 😉
Oh, no…????
I’ve been thinking about Jolie Madame lately but haven’t broken it out since the weather has gone back to being cold. You smell gorgeous!
Wearing another Chanel today: Cristalle. Needed something light and simple.
Crown of Roast Pork day sounds amazing, but definitely too much trouble. I’ll compromise tonight when I get ramen with pork tonight before the hubs and I go see Logan.
Hi Jenkr! I just replied to your yesterday’s post- it is mail.ru
Thanks! I’m a bit swamped today, but will email when I can.
I like your plans! And you smell great.
Thanks!
It’s “tightwad Tuesday” at the cinema we go to. $6 for new releases.
OOh pork ramen sounds delicious! I might have to try to talk my H into bringing some home for dinner. There’s a great noodle house right next to his work site.
Yes! I could live off ramen – if I was allowed to, but the hubs I think would have issues with it.
HYLNDS Spirit of the Glen. I smell like I was locked inside a distillery overnight, slipped in a puddle of sugar syrup on the way home, and tried to try off with a fur coat.
Oh that sounds amazing! You smell great. 🙂 I have a sample of that somewhere that I forgot about, I’ll have to dig that up for tomorrow I think.
Hope you’ll enjoy it!
Ha! I like that one but suspect you don’t?
Actually, I do like it! ;D
Oh, good then!
Happy Tuesday!
1) Finally- I got the estimate for getting the damage repaired to my home. It happens to be LESS than what the insurance adjuster estimated, and plus my carpet was deemed to be in excellent condition! So it will be : ceiling patch and paint job, carpet cleaning and pad replacement with an anti microbial. Total cost should be around $1000-$1500.
The insurance company paid $3000!
2) SOTD: Eau Universalle from L’Occitane, and a new deodorant: Rose Vanilla from Schmidts. Am doing this because saw it on sale. Verdict: I smell very good indeed, like the very best hug from an auntie combined with the freshness of the cologne from an uncle!
Good news on the repairs!
Great news for the repair costs, and it sounds like you smell wonderful.
That’s great news on your house!
Mmm, I bet $1500 would make a difference to your perfume wish list… ;^)
HA! Boy oh boy oh boy WOULD IT EVER.
Scentless today, good heavens! *looks around, tries to cover up the nakedness* I was rushing out of the house and completely forgot perfume. I will have to raid the emergency stash at work, so it will either be CB I hate Perfume Winter 1972 or Fleurs Liquides…
Booze cruise! SOTD is CBIHP 2nd Cumming: whiskey, dirt, and leather, mmmm. I was going to save this for Friday, but why wait?
More on yesterday’s test of new BdI vs old: I have always had very little longetivity from the old BdI LE, and yesterday was no different; the new EdP was definitely stronger. Interestingly though, post-shower, I could still smell the old EdT’s sandalwood on my skin, while the EdP was completely gone. Hmm.
Off-topic: yesterday I noticed that FIF has upped their minimum for free shipping to the US from 300 euros to 650…! And shipping for orders less than 650 is 59 euros…!! Won’t be buying there anymore. Does anyone have recommendations for other European fragrance stores that will ship to the US? I know about Essenze Nobile… any other sources?
It’s been a few years since I bought from them, but I was very pleased with Celeste Parfums in the Haag. Shipping wasn’t free on my order (under $200), but they sent a large number of very nice samples, equivalent to the shipping cost at that point in time, really.
http://www.celeste-parfums.nl/?___store=en&___from_store=nl
thanks!
Ah Celeste! Also a cute boutique in a fancy but cosy neighbourhood, staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, beautiful collection.
Whoa! Good thing it didn’t affect splitmeet. We’ll need a new category of weekend get-together so everyone can chip in to hit the 650 mark. Bulkmeet? lol
That’s really a bummer, though.
No kidding, that’s where I got all my splitmeet bottles.
I’m still waiting on my order 🙁 It left Germany on Feb 27 and no updates since then.
Also forgot to add that I love Alan Cumming but love him even more for his perfume names. Cracks me up every. time. LOL
It may have been returned to FIF. It happened to Clarissa. My order from April Aromatics also got sent back for no reason.
If I recall correctly Parfumaria from The Netherlands (no affiliation) also ships worldwide!
http://www.parfumaria.com/en
Thanks!
(Ha, I just got a warning that I am “posting comments too quickly”)
LOLOL!
To pixel’s point, I had a horrific experience with them for the last 2 weeks. They sent my package twice, both times it was returned to sender by DHL (according to DHL, because of the box damage). FiF told me first time that it was an issue with paperwork, and the second time, that there have been customs changes and they need to get a new shipping carrier. I asked for a refund, which they did – but they issued a store credit and took 5% off as fees. I ended up filing a dispute with PayPal (original form of payment) and got my money back, but their service has gone downhill. It would take 3 attempts for any of the emails to be answered and there was zero clarity in their answers. I was very disappointed
Oh, dear…
That is terrible! Thanks for the warning.
Chanel 19 edt for me today, because I had cravings for it.
Question for skin junkies/experts out there: Any good recommendations for serum and moisturizer for oily/combination skin? ( I am 37 years old)
Over the week I used a sample of Erno Laszlo Phormula 3-9 repair Serum- this stuff is pure magic! My skin became bright and luminous, younger looking, pores shrunk, less blackheads on the nose. My skin doesn’t look oily anymore, BUT THE PRICE! OUCH! $ 275 for 1oz is waaay out of my budget.
I read couple articles on skincare products and checked out reviews on makeupalley, but there are so many choices, it is really overwhelming. Where do I start?
Currently I am using Vichy foaming cleanser ( which i like) and Vichy Aqualia Thermal Cream ( which is too heavy and is a better fit for dry skin, not combination/ oily).
Maybe you should look into the SkynIceland line. I’m sure that they have something for combination skin. I use the Cloud moisturizer since it’s not heavy and oily along with the glacial cleanser. What’s great is that it doesn’t break the bank like some lines do.
Thank you for suggestion Dawn! I looked up this line at dermstore and makeupalley- good reviews for products and the price is reasonable. I have no idea where to try it though, as Sephora doesn’t carry it.
I wish there was an online store like STC that was selling skincare (manufactured) samples, because blind buying skincare products could be deadly for the wallet.
I will keep an eye open for Skyn Iceland products.
Most skincare/cosmetics dot coms take returns of used products, so you could think of full-size purchases as samples.
Thank you Kpaint, I had no idea! I have never returned any skincare and only returned a bottle of perfume once.
Ouch ..you can buy a lot of perfume with that amount of money.
No officiations to any of these recommendations:
I use Paula’s choice, it is expensive but she often has specials every once in awhile. You can order samples of some of their products to try. Ordinary serums get a lot positive feedback and they will not break the bank. I use a oil from Odacite
Do you ever read BdJ Victoria’s blog? Here is a post that you may want to glance over. http://boisdejasmin.com/2017/01/my-skincare-routine-layering-technique.html
Victoria is great and some of her recommendations have saved me money and I am very happy with my skin
I meant affiliations ..autocorrect…
I second the recommendation for Paula’s Choice: you can order many of the products in travel size to test and see if it works for you. Also, they have a separate Beautipedia (or something like that) site where specialists review other brands’ products. Of course, it depends on whether you trust that site or not but they’ve been around for a while, and I guessed that if they were not telling the truth about those big brands’ products that they criticized (there are positive reviews as well), they would have been forced to take those down.
Ah yes!
I found Paula’s Choice through the BdJ blog when I asked for a lotion for my bumpy skin on my arms during one of Victoria’s lotion posts. After that, I started dipping my toes into their skin care and haven’t looked back.
Oh, I’ve seen Odacite oil on Costco’s web site (only the one kind for treating acne)- 2 bottles for the price of one.
Thank you Undina! Another vote for PC!
LOL! I have read the same article plus several more from BdJ and already placed an order for 4 The Ordinary products (serums, moisturizers and hand cream) from Deciem last week. They are swamped with orders and promissed to ship mine within 10 business days. Can’t wait for my package to arrive!
I also read couple articles on skincare from Anniky’s blog and will be making to try list for myself. 🙂
Thank you for mentioning Paula’s Choice. I believe she has travel sized offers on her web site. Will do more reading to figure out what will suit me best.
Thank you Lovestosmellgood for taking your time to reply!
I second The Ordinary line from Deciem, and will also suggest Garden of Wisdom. Both carry affordable products with quality ingredients. Both companies also welcome questions, and if you email their customer service with your skincare concerns, they will respond with their recommendations.
I really like the way my skin has responded to the Ordinaries Niacinamide + Zinc serum, which is very reasonably priced!
I haven’t ordered that particular serum, will try Ordinary Vitamin C, HA 2%+ B5 and moisturizing serum first once I get my package.
Thank you for mentioning N+Z serum, ajellyfish, adding it to my list.
I use the Estee Lauder line for my skincare regimen. I’m 43 and have been using it for 20 plus years. They have products that addresses all skin issues. The best thing about EL is that they always have some sort of GWP special going on. So, you get a lot of goodies for your money. Some might say it’s a little much, but it is nowhere near what you are paying. And, I have no affiliation with EL.
Hi Scentfromabove!
I cannot tell you how many times I wanted to get EL generous GWP just to try their skincare, but I could never figure out what to buy in the first place since I am not familiar with EL skincare, don’t use any makeup and don’t need any of EL scents. Maybe I’ll get some basic cleansers to try, as I noticed EL is carrying some travel sizes now.
Thank you for your input!!!
If you go to EsteeLauder.com, you can get information on every product they make. They tell you what that product addresses, who and what it’s good for, etc.
Take a look at it when you get a moment. They also have consultants that will chat with you online about the products.
My favorite moisturizer for oily skin is La Roche Posay Toleriane Ultra fluide.
Thank you Hera! I am pretty sure my local Sephora carries this line, will sample LRP fluid. Do you use any type of serum before applying it?
I use Skinceuticals Vit C 10% serum in the morning
I use Skinceuticals Vit C 10% serum
Another vote for the La Roche Posay.
I highly recommend paulaschoice. Drunk elephant has a very nice serum as well as a great AHA/BHA combination product.
A little late responding, but I started using Josie Maran products about 3 years ago. I have seen an improvement in my combination skin. I am pretty lazy when it comes to skincare, but the products are effortless. (No affiliation)
I’m continuing to wear scents I’ve acquired but never worn. Today it’s Fracas.
How are you liking it?
I’m glad I like tuberose.
🙂
???? You smell great!
SotD is cocktail Commodity Whisky + Gold — my intention was to smell like a rye Manhattan for booze week but mostly I smell like patchouli and vanilla. So far I have not been impressed with Commodity. I picked up the cocktail kit because the SAs at Sephora were very excited to be stocking the brand, but mostly my reaction has been a bit of a shrug.
Sephora seems very enthused with layering sets… I have the Clean Reserve set (impulse buy) and it’s pretty meh (as much as I’ve managed to play with it with so many more interesting samples to go through).
I have 2 sets, one of which I’ll put up in the swapmeet.
It’s wet, rainy and gray outside today, so I reached for a comfort scent that has a little bit of a lift. That is Chanel no 5 EDT, current formulation. Still haven’t heard anything back from Saks Fifth about Liu or L’Heure de Nuit but the lemming is starting to pass, mainly due to the price tag. Might go with SDV.
if you call the guerlain spa at 2128727200 (in NYC) they still carry it. I just called and asked while I was inquiring about about another product. No affiliation
Your enabler Lovestosmellgood
I will call tomorrow and see if they ship to Cleveland.
I slept quite poorly and have a long day ahead of me, and that tea set is looking like something from a better, different world. . .
Tabac Tabou today. As much as I dislike pollen IRL, I love the pollen sensation in perfume.
You smell wonderful!
SOTD: Equistrius, a beautiful iris, thanks to SheriG! 🙂
Another one that I want a FB of, but luckily it’s half the price of either Shalimar Mexique and/or Madagascar.
You smell lovely today,
So glad you’re enjoying it! 🙂
Happy Tuesday Everyone! What a cute teapot set. 🙂
My SOTD is Slumberhouse’s Pear & Olive. It is described as: the bitter booziness of grape tissue from French white cognac oil, the wet & earthy hues of zdravets crowned with the rich, velvety green gem of the very rare aglaia absolute.
I hate that this one was discontinued. I try to keep a decant of it because to me, the smell is like no other.
I usually find perfume PR eye-roll worthy because it’s utter nonsense aimed at the lowest common denominator. This is quite the opposite and I imagine, over the heads of most people – not just me.
Dior New Look 1947. It smells good.
Yesterday I tested Puredistance Sheiduna and was appalled to find it has that spiky horseradish-wood note that I can’t stand. What a waste! I also tried a couple of the Saufs, but they didn’t seem to last (just dauber sampling) and I didn’t form very clear impressions yet.
Contrabombarde 32 started out as a sweaty, resinous incense – pretty much exactly the way you’d expect Filippo Sorcinelli to smell, based on photos and videos of him. 😉
what? You don’t like to smell like horseradish? 😉
Ideal for roast beef fanatics! 😉
I love New Look 1947 in the spring. Plus Cristalle…and others that people are mentioning today. Time to rearrange my collection so that these spring favorites are in easy reach.
I also found the Saufs short lived.
I didn’t get horseradish, but I know what you mean about spiky woods. 😉
I have the Sauf sample pack but haven’t explored it yet. I DO find Sorcinelli and his artistry fascinating…I wonder if I’m influenced by that in the same way that some are compelled by their associations with mainstream celebrities?
I love the tea set! And I rarely respond to tea sets. Maybe it’s the gin affiliation?
SOTD is Iris 39. It seemed appropriate for a beautiful day when the grass isn’t quite green yet.
Iris 39 (and ISM) were my first perfume purchases from Barneys. You smell great!
Craving incense today, so completely off topic in Profumum Olibanum.
Nose to the grindstone on this windy Tuesday.
It’s very windy here in San Diego too. You smell great, love Olibanum.
Today is my birthday and, for this auspicious occasion, I am wearing Mohur extrait for the first time compliments of Foxbins’ Splitmeet.
It is beautiful…interesting, complex and many notes to my nose. I am not terribly good at parsing stuff out but I’m really enjoying it.
To quote Bear…carpe diem! 🙂
Happy Birthday! Hope your day is everything you wish for.
Happy Birthday She-ra! Many joyful and fragrant years to come!
Happy B-day and enjoy the treat!

Hope your day has been wonderful. 🙂
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday She-ra! You smell beautiful!
Happy Birthday, She-ra! We seem to have a lot of Pisces NSTers. Mohur Extrait is super fabulous!
Have a fantastic day.
Has anyone tried Paco Rabanne Olympea? I guess it’s not new but I just smelled it in a magazine and it seemed like a promising salty skin-scent-type vanilla.
No SOTD yet but I’m craving blackcurrant and I always want chypres in spring, so maybe So Pretty…

Thanks, I missed that!
I tried it, and it was a no for me. Honestly, it smelled fishy to me. Probably the salt? Idk…but I think it is selling pretty well.
Fishy! No bueno!
I didn’t realize how many boozy scents I had until I went looking yesterday. Yesterdays SOTD was SDV; today’s is Queen by Queen Latifah. It’s a fun, boozy cheap thrill.
I’m trying to save “Queen” for Friday. 🙂
So very strange. I sprayed on Natori today, which normally is noticeable and lasts on me. It’s been less than 2 hours, and I get nothing. The heavy cap went missing sometime back, so I wonder if that has anything to do with it. I was hoping for some strong plummy goodness, but I think my little bottle has died. Weird. I do have a shrink wrapped back up though. Hope that’s still okay.
Have you tried smelling anything else? I occasionally have days when I just can’t smell much of anything, which I confirm by seeing if any of the heavy-hitters in my collection make an impact.
It may be your nose. Try it again in a few days.
Saving my only boozy scent for Friday and spending the rest of the week preparing for summer by testing some colognes. Up today: Eau Sauvage (the original, I think?). Went on very 1970s (someone I knew as a child def wore this) but it’s not particularly savage once it settles down – reminds me of lemon Lifesavers. Good thing I love lemon . . .
Love Eau Sauvage 🙂
I don’t have anything particularly boozy, other than a small sample of Slumberhouse’s Kiste, and that’s not safe for work – inspired by this week’s theme, I tried it again one evening recently and, like last time I tried it, I feel as if I’ve fallen into a vat of Southern Comfort. I drank too much of that in my misspent youth to want to smell like that now 🙂
So Incense Mythique d’Orient for me today. Another favourite I haven’t worn for a while.
‘Snap’ on the Southern Comfort – it was fun until it wasn’t. ;^D
Lol! Same here.
I had the same experience with Kiste – it was straight bourbon on my skin. I could get the same effect for a lot less drinking a few shots of Bulleit! I wish I had experienced any of the other notes that were supposed to be there.
Yesterday I was running around so I ended up with a single woman’s dinner (I forgot to defrost anything in the morning): Chips, salsa, and chocolate cake. It was delightful. Today’s SOTD is Sarrasins, my only bell jar, and well worth every penny.
My options for Friday have just doubled since Aparatchick says Queen has a booze note. I have a bottle!
Oooh you smell sooo good. <3
It's my only bell jar as well AND my no1 jasmine! 🙂
If I were going to own a bell jar, it would probably be Sarassins (or “Sara’s sins” as auto-correct would have it). And sounds like a great dinner!
I love love love chocolate cake after eating spicy salsa. It’s a perfect chaser.
Hello! I’m really, properly late today because I slept until — gasp!– 7.25! My first meeting has had to be postponed, my outfit is a scramble and looks rather haphazard, and my hair is ummm, idiosyncratic (that would be a compassionate word), but I am beautifully perfumed. Of course I am. Wearing No. 22, because it smells organised and pulled together. It’s not boozy, but it is gorgeous. I needed gorgeousness more than booze today, though the booze might come later! Be well–gotta madly dash now.
You definitely do smell gorgeous! Everything else will fall into place.
Oh, hey, I celebrated Cereal Day without even planning to! I had to have some grain this morning to offset the fact that my dinner last night was worthy of Fred Flintstone. ????
Today I’m testing MFK APOM Poir Femme. Lovely.
Is anyone participating tomorrow in A Day Without A Woman? I wonder how big it will be…
Ugh, “Pour” Femme!
I didn’t know there was a Day Without Women planned. Holy zhizz, if we all participated, the world would come to a complete and utter screeching halt. Can you imagine?!
I think that might just be the point.???? It’s organized by the Women’s March peeps (in solidarity with other International Women’s Day actions).
https://www.womensmarch.com/womensday
I sampled APOM yesterday. Sadly for me, I got soap and lots of cedar (the latter being a note that my skin hugely amplifies most of the time.). I can see how it would smell great on someone else though!
My skin tends to do the same thing with wood notes, so I was a bit concerned after I saw you mention that yesterday. Luckily, it seems to behave on me. What I *am* getting is a tight accord of the orange blossom and cedar, just like the one I get with the orange blossom and jasmine I get from FK’s Elie Saab Le Parfum. Ooh, now I’m wondering what it would be like to layer the two…
I love APOM. Such a good one. I am participating tomorrow, but more involuntarily. I am out again for so much swelling in my knees. But, I work at a school where 98% of the staff are women. Wonder how that would be………
Ha, well, you could call it “cooperating” instead of involuntarily participating.????
I’ve seen mention of several schools planning on closing for the day for that very reason–and not, they hasten to stress, as any sort of political statement but out of security concerns from not having enough staff. As if that weren’t a foreseeable (let alone desired) effect of a strike.
Oh no again about the swelling! Take care!
I’m sorry that you are having problems with your knees. Do take care!
I didn’t know about Women’s Day tomorrow, thanks for mentioning it. 🙂
Observe it however you wish and/or can! ????
Thanks the wonderful MissGina I now have two more boozy scents in my collection. I’m wearing Commodity’s Whiskey today, I love that it’s warm and cozy. Not actually very boozy smelling, but the soft woodsy notes are definitely becoming my favorite.
I was in an orange blossom mood today, so I went with SL Fleur d’Oranger.
Me too! I wore Séville à l’Aube.
My Tuesday is also my Friday this week since I’m going on vacation tomorrow. I’m at a prescribed fire conference today and keeping it subtle in Santa Maria Novella Caprifoglio. I smell like beautiful springtime, but only if you actually put your nose on me. 🙂
Ooh, have a great trip!
Have a great vacay!
SOTD is 4160 Tuesdays “Up the Apple & Pears”.
Top: hops, apple, pear and gin;
Mid: whiskey and woody notes;
Base: bread.
I really just get sweet-sour green apples and spices from this one – it’s very pleasant though.
If this were a cruise, it would be a canal narrowboat on the Birmingham-Worcester canal, drifting past orchards on the way to the river Severn. But the pubs along the way would be closed. :^)
Sweet-sour green apples and spices sounds nice. I do quite dislike bready notes in perfume, though. I pick it up occasionally from some powdery roses so I can’t tell if it’s from the powder or rose (more likely powder, I guess.)
Sounds like you’re not getting too much bread, though. (I feel like the only thing missing from the notes list is cheese – making it a great picnic spread 😉 )
I’m wearing Apollo Hyacinth. Oh boy, does this hit the spot for me! My 10 ml from the splitmeet will disappear in no time. Even though I got into vanilla and gourmands this last year, I still feel an incredible affinity for bright green scents and how they conjure up Spring, hope, renewal, mystery and magic for me.
Yay, I’m so happy!!! It speaks of the best of spring to me, too… the green bulbs bursting forth after a long winter… renewal indeed!
I have only 1 boozy perfume in my entire collection of bottles, decants, and samples, so that will be saved for Friday. Instead, I’ve been testing a few vintage samples out of the sample stash. Today’s pull was vintage Narcisse Noir EdT. I have learned that I need to apply it with some restraint…
Before I forget, I ought to award Hajusuuri something to add to her enabler’s tiara. I decided to get a sample set from Andy Tauer, based on what I had experienced from the sample of Incense Rose that she had given me. Time to expand my knowledge!
Oh oh :-). Andy does a great job with his sample sets!
Ha! Put the party back into tea-party. Indeed. I’ll play along:
SotDs = infinite tea + intoxicating citron (Oolang Infini + Cedrat Enivrant). Each is wonderful alone plus they work well together. I enjoy many of the Atelier scents but have not bought a bottle. I must use up these samples.
Today a sample of Alaia Blanche reminded me of another scent. It took me a while to think of it: E & J Vanilla Bourbon.
Hope you are enjoying a terrific Tuesday, NST. You smell fabulous.
Whoops, that’s Nirvana Bourbon. Clearly I have a thing for vanilla.
I’ve been curious about the other Alaia versions since I love the original so much. Sounds like the Blanche doesn’t have much in common with the edp? I enjoy a bit of Nirvana Bourbon occasionally but I get a really strong note of aged liquor/wine barrels that can be a overwhelming sometimes.
Alaia Blanche smells like the original formula of Hypnotic Poison to me…
I tried the black bottle Alaia edp at the same time as Blanche. They were not similar to my nose. First time trying both though, and I only had a smidgen of each. I’m conservative when spritzing a new scent.
Nirvana Bourbon is a little boozy for me. I often spritz it on when I see a tester, but so far I’m not moved to buy it.
La douceur de Siam, which is an old-fashioned scent with a bit of liquor to it. Not so much me, but funny for a day?
House of Matriarch Bohemian Black, which has a lovely limoncello note along with sweet white flowers, woods, resins and amber. My decant is almost gone, so I’ll need to do something about that. I really like this one.
I like that one as well! Though it’s so hard for me to classify. It’s such an unusual fragrance.
Late to post but read comments early this a.m. which led me to jump aboard the Alahine train, and it’s about gone now. I am in the “like but not love” camp, though I do enjoy the deep drydown much more than the opening. Barhane I do love, though, and if I found a good deal on a bottle I’d be very tempted.
I transitioned my winter perfumes into storage a few weeks ago and swapped them out for spring and transitioning-to-spring scents. Boy did I jump the gun on that. Spring is never warm (or nice) where I live, but it’s back to full-on dead-of-winter temps. Nasty, icy winds, and near-freezing temps. In fact, my hands are so cold right now it’s hard to type.
So, back to winter perfumes…
Cruising along in the Booze Cruise! But first, I need to report that I smelled Box of Eels in the wild on my commute home.
SOTD = Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille
I have a decant with a wonky sprayer and I finally transferred it to a new one. Three sprirzes were potent enough for me to keep it there but it whimpered out after 5 hours. Phooey!
I wore Promesse de l’Aube today by MDCI. I’ve neglected it this winter and thought I would get in a few wears before the weather turns to spring.
Cereal Day!!!!! My ultimate comfort food. (I just finished a bowl, in fact.) I wore VC&A Bois d’Iris today, which I hadn’t worn in nearly a year I think. It was perfect. I hope everyone had a lovely day!
I did take cereal to work for my breakfast but it was our Cake Day for the birthdays of the month. So instead I had a small piece of Carmel mousse cake and fresh fruit. I’m still experimenting with flying under the radar with perfume at work, no one seemed to notice again. Today I had a drop of Beloved on my wrist from a sample. Wow, just lovely. I think that it helped me focus a bit better 😉
