Happy Almost-Friday! Plus, happy Whipped Cream Day and happy Bird Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm cheating: I'm taking Dior Poison down a notch by wearing Hypnotic Poison.
Reminder: 1/6 will be Take it down a notch Friday — wear a perfume that has a bad reputation because people wore way too much of it back in the day. Go ahead and wear it lightly, or go loud and proud, you'll get points either way. Suggested by Bear.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image is from Dior's Bird of Paradise makeup collection, 2013.
Today I’m wearing Hermes Eau de Neroli Dore.
My weekend starts today because 6.01 is a holiday here.
YOU smell great!!!! Love that one!
Oh, that one is so nice! I do need to try it again to see if it’s a keeper. Such beautiful perfume!
Enjoy the long weekend!
Have a great weekend!
Loud & Proud
Coco Noir Parfum & Coco Noir Body Cream
The Parfum is better then the EDP in my opinion. Body cream is just delicious!
The au Tibet for my morning cuppa
Yum! Really perfect.
I bought the body cream during my 4th quarter spending blitz 😉 but haven’t opened it yet. Haven’t tried the parfum but maybe now that STC is carrying Chanel again they have it or will get it.
Oh gosh, i don’t see Chanel in their brand listing. Will keep checking!
Meant to reply to you here… 😉
I bought the body cream during my 4th quarter spending blitz 😉 but haven’t opened it yet. Haven’t tried the parfum but maybe now that STC is carrying Chanel again they have it or will get it.
Let me know what you think!
I am going to re-apply in a little bit. The parfum is expensive but I really liked it more than the EDP. There is not much talk about it but here is a review I just found that Denyse did http://graindemusc.blogspot.com/2014/08/coco-noir-extrait-de-parfum-by-chanel.html
Wham ! Bam! Thank you Ma’am!
Early morning workout.
Triple strength coffee.
Playing THE RISE AND FALL OF ZIGGY STARDUST AND THE SPIDERS FROM MARS, almost one year since the death of David Bowie. R.I.P.
Amarige Givenchy EDT. A few swipes on my arms provides enough sillage to fragrance the universe with tuberose and mimosa. I’m on a beach, drifting in and out of sleep with an ice-laden whiskey sour at my side ! If only!
😀
Carpe Diem.
I forgot about Amarige. Loud and good! I need to look for my bottle which might be hidden somewhere. You smell great!
I’m more awake after reading this. Thanks, Bear. A+ on the project!
Okay, now I am awake! Good Morning!
My favorite album of all time! Freak out in a moon-age daydream, Bear.
Perfect, all around! And I can’t believe it’s been a year already ????
Amarige is my best friend’s favourite scent. She is currently skiing towards the South Pole and I keep imagining her sitting in a tent with two others who are secretly plotting to send her out into a blizzard .
I would definitely push her onto her own personal ice floe and pay a seal in buckets of fish to tow her out into open sea….Amarige is one of the very few perfumes that makes me feel ill.
!!!!
I actually wonder if all the time she soends at high altitude has affected her sense of smell. But i don’t suppose it could. I think the trip is going to take a month so probably Amarige will be the least of their scent problems.
🙂
A friend of mine used to wear this, and I actually quite enjoyed it on her. I could never really enjoy it on myself though.
If you want a good belly laugh, and are not easily offended, your blizzard anecdote reminded me of another one on Everest.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwuw6Z33018
That’s funny. She’s climbed it four times (she’s a guide) an has some funny stories.
That beach sounds excellent. The whiskey sour sounds even better.
I like Amarige too.. I think that may be what I do for tomorrow.
I was out and about today and found some Amarige and gave myself a big spritz in your honor.
Thanks for the love, Everyone!
😀
Assam of India…heavily sprayed to be loud and proud.
Unfortunately most of my loud and proud fragrances were drained long ago (80s and 90s) so this community project is a bit of a challenge for me.
Whipped cream day? had I known I might have gone with Dame Perfumery Black Flower Mexican Vanilla today 🙂
I think you could take a bath in Assam of India and still not overwhelm anybody, but you smell great all the same!
Ha!ha! this is true! I love it just the same 🙂
Love Black Mexican Flower Vanilla! ????
Me too!!!!!
SOTD is Serge Lutens Chene. Love this comforting scent of dry wood.
Yum.
Hey, twin. We smell very good.
I’m wearing Cuir de Russie, because I’ve been missing it.
you smell wonderful!
Almost chose CdR today. You smell great!
CdR is wonderful. Almost wore that today.
I’ve been missing it, too — thanks for the reminder!
I also debated on wearing that one today. You smell lovely.
Love CdR! You smell great!
Back in SL Feminite du Bois. I’m beginning to lose my sensitivity to it and spray it on with abandon.
Same here 🙂
But that first spray after a long break – heavenly, is it not?
Absolutely.
Love, love Feminite du Bois!
SotD: Versace l’Homme (the 1984 l’homme). Classic, loud woody leather fougere. My bottle is older and the citrus at the top is bruised, but this is still very nice with plenty of moss and patchouli in the base.
S(ip)otD: Satispur Assam which is lovely and malty with a tiny hint of allspice.
that tea sounds so good!
I just got packet of their tea today, from Upton! Have not tried yet.
I missed a bunch of days due to my entire family getting the Norovirus! Gross stuff. Anyhooooo….we’re all back to good, and I’m back to fragrance! 🙂
SOTD: Tainted Love, by Tokyo Milk. Vanilla scented pipe tobacco is what my nose gets! Good stuff!
Stay healthy everyone!
You smell good!
Glad everyone is recovering.
You smell good. The Tokyo Milk scents fun and practical.
I’m glad you’re feeling better. I’ve never had Norovirus, but I’ve heard its terrible.
tis the season for colds and viruses
Yikes! Glad everyone is feeling better!
Wow, that’s awful. Glad you’re all recovering!
I had was wondering where you had been. Glad you’re all doing better.
Atelier Cologne Encens Jinhae today..
How do you like this one?
I’ve only tried and now own Tobacco Nuit (from the swapmeet).
I need to visit Atelier Cologne again soon to try some of their new offerings.. there are many!
PdN Vanille Tonka today. I’ve missed it.
YOu smell great!
How did your son like the new bottle you got him for Christmas and how did your other son make out with all of his West Point stuff?
Taz has not worn his Egoiste yet, but he says he likes it.
Gaze just finished his applications to UVa, Princeton, Yale, and William & Mary on Jan. 1. (He’s been accepted at Virginia Tech, so that’s his fallback should none of the other options work out.) As for West Point, he’s obtained his congressional recommendation, finished his online application, done his Candidate Fitness Assessment (passed), his medical assessment (we think he passed), his vision assessment (on the bubble), but no further info at this point.
Wow! Congratulations to your son, regardless of how the apps workout! That is a lot of hoops to jump through, and he’s made it through so many! You must be very proud mama. ????
Wow! Good for him! Exciting future ahead.
All good stuff 🙂 and nice to have a fallback!
This is all so impressive! How wonderful!
Wondeful!
SOLD is Si Lolita, which is too new to be “back in the day” for me.
Si Lolita was “back in the day” for me, too!
Today, Dana Tabu. Another HUGE, HUGE, loud perfume. I hope I can survive this week 😀
This has been my mother’s signature scent forever in any season. For so many, many years I have sprayed on her different type of perfumes in hope that she has at least another option to wear. She always says “it is pretty, but I don’t feel myself when I wear something different” (sigh!) Few years back we were at Sephora and she tried and liked a lot Armani Code for women. I was so happy that I bought a bottle for her without hesitation. She wore it no more than 4 times, arguing that she preferred her TABU. Needless to say that I was the one who finished the Armani and believe me, it took me forever.
She used to wear it every day. These days when she is old and sick, she has one or 2 spritzes once in a while. She has several bottles accumulated in her drawers that she received as presents for any occasions. It does not matter if I do not like Tabu, but for me when I rarely wear it, I feel that she is very close to me and that gives me a sense of immense comfort.
Wonderful perfumelover67!
Tabu reminds me of my Aunt Evelyn. R.I.P.
A whiff of her Chesterfields are always in the background when I wear it.
Good memories. 😉
Bear, thank you for suggesting this theme. It has been a week of many beautiful, unforgettable memories!
You’re welcome, perfumelover67.
Enjoy, you smell great!
A moving scent memory.
I loved reading your post, perfumelover67 🙂
What a wonderful tribute to your mother.
Perfumelover67, such a wonderful tribute to your mom! Love it!
Love this.
Lovely tribute. I have yet to try Tabu.
Great story, thank you for sharing
What a special scent memory/association, perfume is such a wonderful way to feel close to someone special.
Thanks for sharing this lovely story! I’ve been thinking lately about how wearing a different perfume almost every day will get in the way of my son having a strong, “signature scent” memory to associate with me, and I may need to do something about this. I love that I can uncork a bottle of 1000 and feel like my mother is suddenly beside me.
I totally agree with you Isabella. Considering how much I love perfumes I would like to be remembered by one in particular. But as you say everyday we smell different. I am thinking of probably wearing a signature scent every other day, so at least I can keep enjoying the others. Now my question is what would it be that signature scent to be associated with me?
It would be nice to do a ‘what my mother/ father/ relative…wore’ memory project if it hasn’t been done.
I like that idea!
Wonderful idea!
Love your post. It’s very touching.
Vanille Absolument, which I still prefer to call Havana Vanille, as it has such a strong tobacco note.
I still call it Havana Vanille too. I can’t understand for life of me why it was discontinued.
I didn’t even know that Vanille Absolument was discontinued. It’s a great scent.
It’s been discontinued for at least a year or two. Maybe it was too goofy a vanilla for it to really catch on. Not all of use want a vanilla that smells like a cupcake.
I want all sorts of vanilla’s, I even enjoy the tooth achingly sweet CSP vanilla’s.
I am likewise surprised it was discontinued, when so many other tobacco vanilla scents are selling like mad. I see it as more evidence that LAP doesn’t know what they’re doing anymore.
Probably, as it is really great, and different enough from their original Vanilia to keep that in production too.
Lolita Lempicka today.
Yum!
You smell delicious.
One of my faves, u smell lovely!
Scent twin! I have never worn this before until I got a sample with a Sephora order. Liking it.,
Continuing a voyage through the Aedes de Venustas range, SOTD today is Palissandre d’Or.
Top: ambrette, pink pepper, coriander, cinnamon, nutmeg;
Mid: rosewood, copahu balsam, patchouli;
Base: ambroxan, Virginia cedar, Chinese cedar and Alaskan cedar.
Is it nice? Yes. Do I need it? No.
Off now to buy milk and possibly to watch the parade of the Three Wise Men/ Reyes Magos. Or possibly not, if I can’t stand the thought of over-excited children screaming for sweets. :^)
Why not skip the parade and go and put an offer in on one of those houses and then, once you are set up in a nice room, you can start your book. So, it would be a good career move.
I love Palissandre d’Or, you smell great.
Leather Oud (Dior). Decided to prolong the animalic Oud Ispahan from last night. 🙂
I just tried Leather Oud for the first time this past weekend and loved it — its animalic-ness is so soft and feline.
My random samples of the day are Black Gemstone and 100 Tweeds. 100 Tweeds is one of the weirder things that I’ve smelled on skin–damp animalic and spring earth
Is that Euphorium Brooklyn? Do you like it? I really wanted to like his stuff but found them weird and also too dense, like there are too many ingredients.
I like it a lot now that it seems a bit more floral. Probably shouldn’t wear it out of the house during the first hour or so until it calms down
Tubereuse Criminelle. It seems powerful like the ‘ fumes from “back in the day”, although certainly not ubiquitous as some of those were. My mom still has Opium on her dresser, but she prefers her Joy.
Yes, good call!
Somebody mentioned Vanilla Insensee the other day and I’ve been thinking of it ever since. Now that I’m home I have dug out my little bottle and sprayed myself liberally. Now, I just wish I could smell something through my allergies!* I know I smell of dry, papery vanilla but I want to be able to enjoy it.
*this is just the beginning of juniper pollen season. I apologize in advance for the months of winging you will all have to endure. One day I hope to be able to afford allergen immunotherapy again.
Well, even if you cannot smell yourself I will tell you that you smell delightful! I bought a young family member a bottle of that and it smells so good on her!
DSH Nourouz and drinking a cup of Guerlain Paris Caprice tea.
And how is the tea?
Very smooth and delicious!
Nice to know, thanks!
I chose Alahiiiine today to warm me up a bit – temps are frigid here! I’m happy that at least it’s supposed to be clear and cold, as opposed to cold with freezing rain. Now to figure out what clothing I own that’s simultaneously work-appropriate AND warm enough!
You smell lovely.
I knew you would approve.
you do smell lovely!
if you spray with a heavy hand it could be loud and proud for the community project
I do tend to spray rather lavishly as a general rule, but I’m not sure Alahine meets the bad-reputation-due-to-obnoxious-ubiquity criterion of Bear’s challenge. But who cares — any excuse to spray Alahine with a heavy hand is okay by me!
A large scarf or pashmina should work well with almost any clothes (and if it’s cold enough, the color doesn’t matter, in my experience 😉 ). Stay warm – you smell wonderful!
My third Sauf incense sample: Vox Humana. Aargh, I like this one a lot too!
That one might be my favorite, although I liked Contre Bombarde (?) a lot too.
Those two are neck in neck for me too. I’m going to have to try them one on each wrist to be able to choose. The other one didn’t last long enough for me, though it was nice for a short time.
Brrr! 21F !
1) Am wearing my samples of Velvet Rose and Oud and Incense &Cedrat from J Malone. Lovely layered together! It’s not loud, more like a raised stage whisper!
2) Almond milk coffee, oatmeal, honey and homemade fig jam to power through the morning. A colleague is out on bereavement leave, so I am taking on her duties as well as my own. I n theory, I don’t have to, but in practice I must so that things can go forward.
You smell great! I tried a bit of Incense & Cedrat and liked it quite a bit. You’ve inspired me to go back for another sniff.
1-Love your JM combo! Would not have thought of that! Like scentsfromabove and undina I am also a Jo Malone fan…and they do last on my skin, surprisingly.
2- Please send some of that great breakfast my way 🙂
It’s a really great combo and if you get the coffret set they come together.
And i wish I could send some breakfast out! 🙂
Jo Malone fans, unite! 🙂
Yum! Homemade fig jam sounds delicious!
It’s really good! It turned out really good this year; I was lucky to get several pounds of mission figs this past year from a old tree I found while biking!
I’d love to find me an old tree to pull several pounds of mission figs from! That’s cool.
I tried Jo Malone for the first time a month or so ago and really like them. I am looking forward to trying pomegranate noir and now your Incense & cedrat later this month. Good lasting power on me, and nice sillage.
I will give a ‘YES!!!!” to Pom noire! right now there is a soap in my shower and it is amazing!!!! I highly recommend the soaps.
Sounds like I need to roll out my sleeping bag on the shop floor and make myself comfy for an extended testing session
My JM fiend friend combines and sprays behind her onto her clothes and then something else in the front. Apparently, that’s what Jo does. People often tell her how good she smells.
Maria Candida Gentile Elephant & Roses (which I was looking for yesterday, but couldn’t find). I love that it smells dirty in a natural-world kind of way, without being raunchy in its muskiness.
I liked that one and see a 15ml in my future at some time. It smells like a working stable.
I love that they sell 15ml bottles…wish all houses would do that!
SOTD is Box of Eels, plus a trace of Lyric from my sweater. They are playing very nicely together. Snuggly!
You smell heavenly! And I love finding traces of Lyric on my sweaters — like finding forgotten money in a pocket!
Ok, I have to ask… I keep seeing that Box of Eels mentioned again and again in the SOTD posts but I can’t find perfume with that name. Is it some kind of an internal joke?
Yes — it’s Bois des Iles. 🙂
LOL
Thank you!!! Autocorrect?
I think a while back somebody’s husband coined the name as a joke, and it stuck.
He misheard it, as I remember!
I had to google it the other day and thankfully the post from NST came up 🙂
Wearing Slumberhouse’s Pear&Olive today. I love wearing this one when the weather is cool. All I have to do is a dab and it lasts all day!
I adore this scent . It is the only one from this house that sits well on me. So glad I have a small bottle as it is now discontinued.
You smell fantastic
Indeed! You smell awesome!
You smell great.
Whipped Cream Day??
I am in Dulcis in Fundo, so I fit right in.
Tangerine and vanilla laden whipping cream.
A bit louder than intended as I was goosed by one of my greyhounds while spritzing this AM.
Those cold pointy noses can be quite shocking
Hee hee. The greyhound thinks you’re being too restrained with your spritzing.
I only made it two days wearing Lyric. Today I just wasn’t feeling it, so I’m in Dior Homme today.
Dior Homme is sooo good. Is yours EDP or EDT?
EDT
After living of samples for many years I finally broke down and bought a bottle from fragrancenet.
Traveling today so need a scent bubble, but one that won’t bother those around me too much. Violaceum 2 seems to be fitting the bill. I got a small decant of this and see a bottle in my future.
Happy travels!
Thank you!
Off work today and haven’t taken a shower yet, so I am in no 19 even though it’s cold out. After my shower, I will wear vintage Bal or Shalimar.
Italian Fig by The Body Shop. It’s a bit coconuty and quite nichey for the price!
I have the shower gel and lotion in that line. Very nice on muggy summer days.
I was just reading some online lists; can anyone tell me what defines the difference between “indie” and “niche” fragrances?
I think distribution is a big factor. Indie perfume companies tend to only have a few small distributors in boutiques or only from their own website. Niche have more limited distribution than mainstream but can be found in higher end dept stores, although that also seems to be changing. Like Jo Malone can now be found at Macy’s so I always think of that line as in the edge of mainstream.
Your Macy’s has Jo Malone??? I wish mine did 🙁
The Herald Square one has it. My NJ suburb ones don’t. It’s the same with Nordstroms…available only at certain locations.
Most niche fragrances are made by the same perfumers who make mainstream fragrances — that is, perfumers who work at the big fragrance & flavor companies. Those companies then also produce the juice.
To me, indie perfumes are made by perfumers, often but not always self-taught, working outside of that system. So that makes Zoologist indie, and Tauer, and DSH, etc, regardless of how they are distributed or where they are sold.
But, that is not everyone’s definition!
I think it’s a good distinction though!
I define “indie” as perfumes made by hand (E.g., Sonoma Scent Studio, Tauer Perfumes, DSH), while niche perfumes are produced in more “industrial” manner (e.g., NVC, Puredistance, Jul et Mad). But it’s my internal criterion, I’m not sure if there is a standard definition.
I had visualized them being made by hand, but then thought I was being naiive.
I thought about that but then thought about a few indie brands who are owned by a creative director while the perfumes are created by someone else, like Zoologist. Still small batch, however, and not reaching an industrial level of production.
This seems similar to Robin’s above and a good distinction to me.
Cold! Very cold! How quickly the temps change these days. Back in the puffer, with hat & gloves, and still cold.
Today called for some Orchidée Vanille. I’m still trying to get back into the swing of things and is it really 2017?? the coziness of vanille is a great aid to how I’m feeling right now.
I see a number of others wearing vanille-scented ‘fumes, so I know it’s not just me.
Whipped cream day? Yes! Sign me up.
It is cold! I wear one of those Uniqlo down jackets under my heavy long down coat. Stay warm!
Love those jackets! Uniqlo is a fantastic brand. Great prices and high quality, at least in my experience.
Brrrrrr is right! Two scarves, a hat, mittens and a feather-light knee-length down coat did the trick for me today.
Down at the end of the island the wind just whips and makes it almost unbearable to go outside.
My 2017 resolution, however, is to go out for a walk each work day. Even if it’s simply a stroll around the building, the act of getting up from my desk, from my work and clearing my head, is what I’m after.
I have been doing that with a coworker during our lunch..fifteen minutes of brisk walking…we started a few weeks ago….
Somehow days on which I get to wear two scarves make me happy. I know I’m crazy, but I love scarves.
Didn’t think I had much for the community project, but I always forget about my mini collection of which I’ll one day go through with my plan to display them in a wall curio ala Osswald for those who have seen their magnificent wall of minis.
I’ve taken it down a notch by wearing a smidge of Jil Sander no 4. Warm, spicy plum. I couldn’t imagine spraying this one full force, but I like it in micro dosing.
That’s a nice one. Jil Sander is hard to find here but I have liked a couple of the scents.
That’s what I am planning to wear tomorrow for the community project! Love it but wear it seldom because, well…. BIG!
Thank you for the tip! I may wear it tomorrow since I have a sample that I need to try and to finish and it fits the theme of Friday’s project. Or maybe I’ll spray Coco edp 🙂
I just love that wall of minis at Osswald. Mini anything I get a kick out of. I think you should definitely get your wall going at home 😉
Unintentionally on the very LOUD side here.
Warning- long story here!
I got Stash as a gift from hubby and I don’t like it by itself. I keep wanting to add a floral note, to make it less linear. And more floral. ????
Sigh- lol! So glad there’s a perfume blog for me to tell this story on! You all might get why anyone would try This dubious experiment!
The cedar reminds me of a little of a note in Bronze goddess, so I tried a drop of the oil -Stash with 1 spray of. Terracota Le Perfume on top of it- meaning to give it that tropical floral note….
. Wowzaaa! It about knocked me over. ????
Got a headache from the smell and had to take the sweater off , after an hour of hoping it died down.
This morning what survive is surprisingly strong! The Stash is all you can smell. It seems to ‘eat up’ everything I try with it. That stuff is tenacious. I’m wondering from my reading here if it’s got a big dose of ISO E?
wow!
Maybe you can hang that sweater outside and then put it back on and see what ya got
I’ll report back. ????
YIKES!!!!
Yes, missyl, we understand! Hope you don’t have to resort to dry cleaning! Thanks for the warning, too.
I’ve been more careful about spraying perfume on fabric ever since I tried this with one of the Hermes colognes (either Pamplemousse Rose or Gentian Blanc, I think), which left a very durable jalapeño note on my tank top!
😀
Jalapeño!? ????????You sometimes just can’t anticipate what you’re going to get can you?!
Ha! I have this issue with scarfs mainly since I wear so many of them. I’m careful to not spray when dressed, or at least just dab if I do have to.
Ha ha, sometimes if I’ve got an experiment gone wrong like that I have to watch out or, if I leave something lying around, a cat will pee on it! They are quite fussy about things that smell strong–worst case was Musc Ravageur.
????I can believe that. Our dog runs if she doesn’t like a smell.
Oh no! I sniffed stash today and it did nothing for me. I washed it off after a couple of hours.
Today my breakfast will be whipped cream sprayed out of the can directly into my mouth in honor of the day. 🙂
SOTD is EL Tuberose Gardenia to conjure summer in freezing Portland.
That one’s just so *pretty* — a perfect spring-conjuring scent!
i have never tried canned cream – or EL Tuberose Gardenia. Sounds like a fine combination. Put a bird on it!
Fresh whipped cream is far superior, but canned whipped cream is surprisingly good, plus, no mess no bother.
I ‘Ve never even heard of canned cream! Wow!
Behold:
http://www.reddiwip.com/
I just love freshed whipped cream, especially on my double chocolate homemade pudding. Wow!
That’s a great way to honor Whip Cream Day!
have you ever tried Pumpkin whipped cream from the can? Or Peppermint? My grocery store carries both as autumn and winter limited editions….highly recommend 🙂
My brother and I used to sneak spray chocolate whipped cream directly into our mouths!
My sister and I did also and I still buy the canned stuff so my sister and I can do that 😀 .
I still do!!You know…being a man-child bachelor and all…haha!
I didn’t do that, but I sometime she did put Hershey’s chocolate syrup in a spoon and pretend I had to take it as medicine….
https://www.pinterest.com/pin/325596248031300422/
One of my favorite cartoons about whipped cream in a can! (Sorry about the eight gazillion other things lower down on the page, but this was the only web image I could find.)
Love whipped cream and you smell beautiful! EL Tuberose Gardenia is one of my all time favorites.
SOTD is Arquiste Nanban. Love this stuff. Love today’s picture, too, teal is one of my favorite colors.
You smell great.
That’s a gorgeous teal. I agree.
My last name is “Teall” and I used to try to always wear something teal – jewellery, socks or underwear if nothing more, but it got tedious.
Ha, my family name is Cooper, I’d really be in trouble if I had to wear something barrel-related all the time. Or ever 🙂
But perhaps no problem drinking something made in a barrel?
Excellent point.
I’m in an utterly lavish application of vintage Shalimar perfume, and feeling like I can’ settle down and get any work done because I’d rather just sit here and inhale…
How can any type of work rival Vintage Shalimar!!!
Last year, I was delighted to find dramatically discounted LAVS UNUM on ebay, i.e., one quarter of the original price. I have to report, however, that the shipping has gone up to 90 euros. Even so, the total is still two-thirds of the U.S. price, so worth looking into if you want one of the original LAVS perfumes. It also looks to me like at least two would fit into the box, so it would be worth checking if they combine shipment. They also have the candles.
The quality of the packaging for shipment is incredible: heavy double layer corrugated cardboard box, etc. I think they undercharged originally.
The seller is the Italian producer, so a bit tricky to find on ebay. Here’s the item number for UNUM: 291991319862
(No affiliation.)
SOTD: Amouage Homage Attar, which is smelling a bit masculine to me today.
I’m afraid to wear my Homage Attar — I’ve so little of it. Such a gorgeous and special scent!
NINETY EUROS?!! But that’s an entire bottle of perfume right there!
SOTD is SSS Tabac Aurea. The sun is shining, albeit a bit anemically, but that’s fine with me. Trying to measure my cargo floor area for a plywood underlayment and it’s a real pain. I can’t even get a reasonably accurate paper template. TA will give me some patience, I hope.
Birds, whip cream, and almost Friday day- a glorious combo✌????
Tabac Aurea…ohhh yeessss…..
Wearing Ellie Nuit by Ellie D. It’s more of a spring fragrance to me, but the sun is out today and I really wanted to wear it.
I wonder if she has essentially left the fragrance business?
Well, if Robin is taking it down a notch in Hypnotic Poison I feel obliged to take it up a notch in Poison Girl. If this perfume was a bird it would be a gallah.
That’s Galah…lifespan 40 years
Ha, good for you!
Wearing the last of my Putain des Palaces sample. I’m loving all of the rose/violet lipstick-y scents lately, and this is my favorite. HOWEVER, a decant of Lipstick Rose is on the way. Is it wrong that I’m secretly hoping (the much cheaper) Putain will win out?
I really like Putain, Lipstick Rose not as much. They don’t smell at all similar to me, though. Putain is more non-sweet cosmetic rice powder and LR waxy lipstick. If you end up loving LR, cheaper alternatives I can think of are HdP Moulin Rouge, Margiela Lipstick On, maybe even Guerlain Insolence Edp.
I sniffed Moulin Rouge once and really liked it – it’s on my try list along with Lipstick On. I’ll add Insolence as well!
Elisa P, you are the perfume whisperer. 🙂
My travel spray of Angel muse came from eBay today, I’d already applied Air D’rien, but now that that has faded I’ve sprayed on the Angel muse. Really loving the nutty/vetiver aspect, tempering the sweetness nicely, a really nice gourmand.
YSL Nu EDP today from the original “hockey puck” bottle. This is absolutely one of my favorite spicy orientals. I’m wearing it to celebrate my visit to the Seattle Art Museum later this evening for the YSL exhibit! I’m so excited to see so many beautiful and groundbreaking clothes in person.
That sounds incredible. Have fun basking in all the glamour!
Oh, First Thursday! I always forget until it’s too late.
I am wearing one spritz of Shalimar and a dab of the vintage parfum on each wrist.
Whipped cream day, who knew?
SOTD = Chanel No. 19 EDP
First day back at work after vacation. The crazy is not here yet but I know I’ll pay for binge-watching Mozart in the Jungle (via Amazon Prime) instead of knocking things off my To Do List!
Heh, I wanted to binge but I am watching the new Mozart in the Jungle episodes one per night to make them last a bit. After each episode I watch a travel show set in Venice. Rick Steves is an old favorite.
As for the work crazy, you can’t argue with crazy, but you can bob and weave. 🙂
I may need to start from the beginning again as I missed clicking and reading the episodic annotations!
I have never leveraged Amazon Prine video until now.
Great perfume, fantastic show!!
Thank you, my dear!
Sampling L’Envol today…
It is interesting…definitely unisex. I like it but probably don’t need more of it. Not a big fan of honey in perfumes generally.
I sniffed it in a store last year and wasn’t crazy about it. One of those chemical notes I don’t like and kind of meh, to my nose.
If you’ve ever tried L’Occitane Immortelle de Corse, you may change your mind about honey 😉
A co-worker gave me a mini of Angel EDT over a year ago, and this is the first time I’ve worn it thanks to the this week’s project. Just a few dabs, otherwise I just couldn’t handle it.
Today I am wearing Amouage Honour Woman. I find it a very happy upbeat scent. It always puts me in mind of fresh apples, I’m not sure why. It’s very gloomy outside and a bit chilly and this is my pick-me-up.
I have the body wash of Honour. It’s very refreshing, especially in hot weather. And the scent lingers nicely. It does smell fruity-the rhubarb, I think.
Hi, all. I’m not in the project, because this is my wedding anniversary and I thought I would wear Beloved to please the beloved. We just had one of Those Discussions, though, and now I rather wish I had worn L’Ombre dans L’Eau, which he doesn’t like much. Here’s the thing: I thought this was our 45th. He said 44. He lives in the world through numbers, and therefore he’s much more likely to be right than I am, so I just shrugged and accepted my mistake, but he got surprisingly upset that I couldn’t remember the year we got married. Well, that is, it surprised me because he knows I don’t live through numbers. And so on.
Heigh ho! People are complicated, and even after 44 years (not 45, but still quite a long time if you think about it) there are still astonishments to contemplate. I need to go and redeem myself by making something with custard, that being one of the essential food groups according to the dear one. Be well, all.
No matter what the number, you’ve shared an incredible bunch of years together! Congratulations!
Congratulations on your anniversary. Custard sounds like the perfect thing for today.
Congratulations! Enjoy your Beloveds.
Oh,Wow.Happy Anniversary!Be Well!x
Sorry about the snit, hopefully he’ll get over it quickly. 44/45 years is a long time, you can be forgiven for a slight miscalculation. Happy anniversary!
Hope the custard comes out perfectly and you’ll be lovebirds again by evening.
Congratulations! If it makes you feel any better, my husband and I both completely forgot our FIRST anniversary. In our defense, we were in the middle of a cross-country move. At about 9pm we remembered and sorta mumbled “happy anniversary” at each other. Hopefully you two will laugh about the 44/45 mix-up next year (or next week!).
This is cute. Congrats on the 44/45 years! 😉
I don’t know if this helps but 44 Earth years is
182 Mercury years
71 Venus years
1.49 Saturn years
0.177 Pluto years
45 Waterdragon years
and 999 perfume years
So, congratulations!!!!
Ha! I’m always in trouble for forgetting which anniversary it is. It’s a lot of years, is all that matters, right? Shrugs 🙂
Oh, and Happy Anniversary, whichever!
Congratulations on your wedding anniversary, waterdragon!
Popping in REALLY late to congratulate you, Waterdragon, on your wedding anniversary.
Wonderful and congrats to you both! Nothing that a few chocolate chippies won’t fix. This happens to me all the time so I can identify with you. My husband is all numbers and science. And we’re not even in the double digits yet, so you’d think it’d be easy to remember.
Don’t feel bad. I have been married 25 years and can never remember the *date* of our anniversary. When my mother was alive, perhaps because she was the person who insisted we get married, she would send a card a few days early so I’d remember. My MIL took over when my mom died but *still* sometimes I forget! Congratulations on 44!
I’m cozy in L’Ambre des Merveilles. I have a nearly-empty sample from Sephora of this beauty, and I will soon have to decide if I am going to buy a full bottle with Christmas gift cards.
What’s that? Did someone say “Yes to Hermes” in the distance?
You smell great! I recently bought 15 ml travel spray from fragrancenet for $19.49, just saying…
http://www.fragrancenet.com/perfume/hermes/lambre-des-merveilles/eau-de-parfum#287141
I got one of those L’Ambre 15 ml bottles, too. I’m glad I did. I favor light and floral fragrances, but I’m slowly finding I can love amber as well.
Ugh, I paid full price for mine. Boo.
Hi house cousin, and . . . yes to Hermes! You smell marvelous.
SotD = Eau des Merveilles, day 4. I’m wearing a mini bottle on a cord around my neck. It feels like a powerful talisman on this grey, rainy, dreary day.
Hurray for Bird Day, I had no idea. I will alert the birds here at my house. (*v*)
The mini hung on a cord sounds so cute!
Lush Dear John. It’s got a wonderful true-musky drydown.Watching The Ellen show snippets on youtube,I need some funny right now.X
Not a funny but it’s about your beloved POAL. I pisted a comment last week that I smelled whiffs of it at the British Museum and tried to find its source by surreptitiously smelling people. I mentioned this while on the bus with my fellow travellers and one if them said was it a Frederic Malle perfume because she was also trying to snuff out the source as well and my jaw dropped. Our squeals must have busted eardrums. A day later, this same person mentioned that she had been pursuing a discobtinued Tom Ford. Of course over the years many had been discontinued. I asked if it was Amber Absolute and HER jaw dropped. Needless to say, what a small world!
Darn fat fingers. Please forgive the typos!
Haha! That is awesome!PoaL is universally loved, that is so true! And how awesome to meet a fellow serious perfumista on your holiday!I hope you are keeping contact!x
Heaven!
I wore Amber Absolute today (before reading your comment). And I love PoaL – so I enjoyed your story even more than I would have otherwise. But I must say that PoaL “in the wild” – is not something you meet every day.
Reading very late, but had to say what a fantastic story!- hope u stay in touch. (And also Big POAL fan too!)
Cold and rainy, not to mention a bit cranky. But feeling cozy in Mandarine Mandarin.
Beautiful! I love a good dose of citrus on a grey day.
It is good. Adding to the pleasure with a cup of ginger peach rooibos team. Hope you are enjoying your day tiffanie! I feel like we are scent sisters. 🙂
Tea, not team!!
Yes, I think we may have similar noses. 😉
Chanel 19 edt, THE BEST CHANEL, IMHO…
Am on Team 19 for sure!
I’m sampling Lune Feline today, and it’s really lovely. I’m questioning my nose and my sophistication, because I’m not getting cinnamon or green notes. It smells quite similar to SDV to me, with a little smoke and perhaps I’m getting Isabella’s LOG emerging. I’ve realized that perhaps my sampling technique is quite wonky, as sticking my nose directly into my skin gives me a completely different impression from what I get from ambient wafts. Either it’s time to go loud and proud, or accept my own quirkiness. Or both!
Ha ha! Watch out for that LOG! It’s unfortunately not better than bad. 😀
I named my cats Blammo and Splat. I thought that I was simply expressing my feelings about my life at the time, and the fact that these two cats had exploded onto the scene. Then I took Blammo to the vet, and the vet tech said “Oh wow, yeah, Blammo! I remember that! Ren and Stimpy, right?” I only recently discovered that Splat is also from the show, lurking in the subterranean depths of my consciousness.
I loved your original LOG comment, and I know that I can delightfully summon it up whenever I encounter that particular ubiquitous note.

You all are awesome for bringing up the Ren & Stimpy show. It was one of my study breaks in college, along with The Simpsons.
I get the cinnamon very faintly but nothing remotely green. The result is too sweet or something for me.
My second place finisher for the great TIDAN award is one that is sure to raise the neck hairs of many a NSTer…..
La Vie Est Belle????
Sorry, not sorry. ????
Hahahahahah! You win.
At a concert I sat next to someone wearing La Vie est Belle. When I got home I felt like it was following me. I must admit my coat smelled nice the next day after the scent had faded to a faint whisper.
Aieaieaie…. glad I am not in smelling range… that one is my nemesis!
I love the color combo in the featured image today. I also maybe just have a thing for peacock feathers.
I’m smellin’ up the place in Youth Dew. I’m glad I don’t work with ‘fume-phobes today. 🙂
Am I cheating because I am wearing Alien today?
I never consider Alien cheating!
Late to the party, chiming in anyway 🙂
I quadruple sprayed myself with Coromandel EdP from sample. Next I took myself for walk in the cold, overheated myself and the Coromandel made me feel ill on top of feeling dehydrated! Ruh roh.
Everything was fine once I cooled down again and had some liquids. Coromandel tamed herself and now I am able to enjoy myself again.
Glad you’re feeling better. I must be strange because I prefer Coromandel during the hot summer nights. I get more incense and less cola.
Sounds like you just know what you like and aren’t afraid to have it )
Maybe, but man coromandel can go wrong on me big time too. I like to be very cold and so imagine myself *in* the chest full of cashmere with the patchouli tucked in nicely around me.
