Molinard Habanita La Cologne ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 30 March 2016 8 Comments

Molinard Habanita La Cologne

French perfume house Molinard will launch Habanita La Cologne, a new flanker to their 1924 fragrance, Habanita. Habanita La Cologne follows 2013's Habanita L'Esprit.

Drenched in the characteristic Habanita audacity, steeped in its star ingredients, the accord is instantly recognizable. Habanita La Cologne embodies an edgy sensuality. Young, intrepid, bewitching, it is the smoldering ember beneath the flame! Outrageous sophistication that is immediately addictive.

The notes feature nutmeg, bergamot, lemon, ylang-ylang, rose, rosewood, violet, vetiver, oakmoss, cedar and amber.

Molinard Habanita La Cologne will be available in 75 ml. Look for it in April.

I am very curious to see how this is different from the monstrous and lovely original Habanita. I have the edp edition from a few years ago which smells nearly identical to the vintage, IMHO. They did a good job with the bottle.

I have still not tried the Esprit…

Yes, I was very happy with the EDP as well. Good thing I like it, as bottles of the older stuff, once so cheap, might now be harder to get.

Love to try the new one. I don’t remember being impressed with L’Esprit.

Wow, I’d try this. I love Habanita, almost like wearing red velvet. I hope it doesn’t turn out too close to Shalimar, though.

Have a feeling this is way fresher, but we’ll see!

This has a lot of my favorite notes in it. I haven’t sought out the original yet, but now I guess I better. I love this little bottle…

I haven’t even smelled the reformulation, but it seems like they haven’t wrecked it completely. Even this and l’esprit sound good. Probably not even close to the one for ‘latter-day grande horizontales’ as Susan Irvine put it in her little book of perfume reviews.
