Christian Dior will launch Poison Girl, a new perfume for women, later this month. Poison Girl is a flanker to 1985's Poison, and follows Tendre Poison (1994), Hypnotic Poison (1998), Pure Poison (2004) and Midnight Poison (2007).* The scent will be fronted by model Camille Rowe; the tag line is "I am not a girl I am poison".
Poison Girl is described as a gourmand with bitter orange accents. Additional notes include rose, vanilla and tonka bean.
Dior Poison Girl will be available in 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

* Not counting a few flankers of flankers.
For me the only flanker that worked was Hypnotic though I’d like to smell original formula Midnight if I get the chance.
The ad campaign for this one is misjudged in so many ways – she’s such a rebel child she smokes under a no smoking sign? Argh! I want to cross the street to avoid the whole nasty mess.
I loved Hypnotic, and liked Midnight. But Dior lately is not my favorite fragrance brand and Pink / Girly Poison does not sound too appealing, or too Poison-ish. We’ll see.
Here’s hoping they don’t do the same thing they did with Miss Dior Cherie. I can see this soon being named Poison, period.
“Poison” becomes “Poison: original”
“Hypnotic Poison” becomes “Poison”
“Hypnotic Poison, Eau Secrete” becomes “Hypnotic Poison”
“Poison Girl” becomes “Poison Eau”
“Pure Poison” joins “Midnight Poison” and “Poison Tendre” (I feel like they’ll definitely discontinue “Pure Poison” after this launch)
😆 That’s a very thorough (and probably) correct analysis.
A gourmand Poison? Doggone it I am going to have to smell this, despite the fact that 1) let’s call it Poison Original has been reformulated down from a true work of art to something else entirely and 2) the whole franchise has kind of been on a downward trend (although I really did like Midnight Poison, I wouldn’t pretend it’s a thing of genius).
A gourmand PINK Poison no less. Midnight Poison at least made some sense (and I liked it too).
Hypnotic Poison was my gateway drug into gourmands and into perfume madness …down the endless rabbit hole … in general. Hypnotic Poison led me to Profumum ‘s Confetto which led me to Ava Luxe and I was a hopeless case thereafter. The HP reformulation of late smells so cheap at times…the vanilla is not a good one IMHO.
Poison Girl ..the name is sucky but I will be interested to smell it.
Robin…Dior is not my fave brand either right now…they seem so directionless ……..
Hmm if it were to begin with the bitter orange like Cologne Bigarade and moved on to Candy mixed with Portrait of A Lady or Une Rose and finished with a Guerlinade…
But, then again, that would not bear any relationship to the original Poison, would it?
The name and pink juice say I’m not their target demographic, but I’ll try this anyway because I dig the notes.
This looks like a hot mess to me. (“I am not a girl I am poison” um, okay.) At least I’ll always have La Collection Privee.
This is reminding me of the term “pretty poison”, where someone says nasty things in a supposedly sweet way.
Dior discontinued Midnight and Tendre and now they launch “Poison Girl” UGH. Idiots. Midnight was kind of nice as was Tendre. I can’t imagine Poison Girl is good – altho I’m sure it’s aimed at 14 year olds so whatever.
It’s pretty much over and out with me and Dior these days. And now this.
No matter how good the perfume may be, I can’t forgive the smoking ad. Yes, they want to reference smoking as an act of rebellion. But LVMH seems happy to undermine anti-smoking campaigns going back years, just so that it can add to its profits. The fact that the perfume is clearly marketed towards teenagers and young women is especially worrying, when you take in the smoking aspect. I really hope there is a backlash.
You’re not alone in that hope.
I love the original, Midnight and Hypnotic – and I see this as a (blasphemous) threat to the entire line. Next, this will be the only scent in the Poison range.
I HATE to Admit it… But I REALLY Like the sound of this! It sounds like it might be much better than it sounds off the bat, but I have this fragrant picture in my head of the notes and what that might be like and I must say… I am Pleasantly surprised! I can’t wait to smell this… By the way, Pure Poison and Tendre Poison (OH MY GOD THAT STUFF IS MAGNIFICENT!) are my favorite of the Flankers of Poison.
P.S. I have heard all sorts of Odious things about the Demachy reformulations, Especially of the Diorissimo, D-Essence, D-Rella and D-Rama variety and I can say that I personally find them, EXQUISITE! Maybe they do not resemble their former selves, and that for those who love them is a shame, but for never have smelling any of the Vintage ones, I can be assured that the new versions are Masterful! So… I know Poison can’t be what it was (AND IT WAS SMASHING) and I have NOT smelled it lately, but from Demachy’s other work, I feel it might not be that Dreckful! I have to catch a sniff soon!
Do let us know what you think of Poison Girl 😀 I haven’t made my mind up about it yet. I got a strong hit of cherry from this.
It is available in Russia and I gave it a sniff. Better than I imagined but still… Some of us were afraid it would be a La Vie est Belle clone. Thank Gos it is not. It is a copy of the other fragrance – Armani Code, like a fresher flanker. A powdery vanilla floral with weird citrus accents. That way if you like Code you ll like Poison Girl. If you like Hypnotic Poison you could like Girl as they are not far from each other.
Does anyone know the pricing, and if this perfume will be at Macy’s? Dior’s Facebook Page says this will be available February 1st.
I don’t know, sorry.
I have sampled it now, and it’s ok but so boring. To my nose, it’s very much like Taylor Swifts (very decent) Wonderstruck. Well, there you have it. Dior discontinued Midnight poison and instead they gave us a very mainstream fruitchouli.
About ten days ago I received a sample of this mess when ordering something else.
For heaven’s sake!
I am not a big chypre lover, but to me Miss Dior (the classic Jean Carles creation), especially the vintage extrait version, is one of the most beautiful perfumes ever.
So this was how young women were meant to smell like once upon a time: grown up and elegant.
To me there seems to be a constant infantilisation invading grown up life: reading Harry Potter and smelling like marzipan. In my opinion smelling like sugar is not remotely sexy. It actually is childish.
Baaah! My teeth ache.
As a comfort I bought myself some vintage Poison Esprit de Parfum, which still blasts you away and has a drydown to die for.
It’s not as coolly elegant as Miss Dior, but actually has a style of its own.
Whereas the cloying simplicity of Poison Girl just leaves me aghast.
I usually don’t say anything negative about perfumes, like or dislike is a personal matter, but this one is ridiculously close to everything I know following La Vie est Belle and or Black Opium. I don’t like any and I feel this release was not needed as it is a clear hint about how hard Dior tries to get through. Well, if Coco Mademoisele is no more at trend as it was so much so that one can create a “Miss Dior Original” flanker, let’s do it “La Vie est Belle” like and call it Poison Girl right. Disappointed! Deeply. It is crazy sweet and that campagne…. how far one can get it!
