The 2015 fragrance awards season is over, and we have a winner, although not much of one: Tom Ford Velvet Orchid, which took only 4 awards.*
Bottega Veneta Knot, Bleu de Chanel Eau de Parfum and Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium are tied for second place, with 3 awards each.
A quick run down of past winners:
2014: Giorgio Armani Sì, with 5 awards.
2013: Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb, with 6 awards
2012: Gucci Guilty Pour Homme, with 5 awards
2011: Bleu de Chanel, with 8 awards
2010: Marc Jacobs Lola, with 7 awards
2009: Chloé Eau de Parfum, with 5 awards
2008: Marc Jacobs Daisy, with 7 awards

*This is my own (very) unofficial count, mind you, and only includes the award programs and categories I report on — I usually skip awards for things like advertising and packaging, and I frequently skip consumer choice awards too.
I keep trying to love Velvet Orchid. I like it at first spray, but after only a short time, I lose interest.
I did not love it either…but I gave up quicker than you 🙂
This summarizes my experience with the line so far–I find something interesting, possibly lovely, and then quickly it goes away or changes into something more mundane. Sigh.
