Guerlain Shalimar Cologne ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 24 April 2015 23 Comments

Guerlain Shalimar Cologne

Guerlain has launched Shalimar Cologne, a new 'sparkling amber' variation on 1925's Shalimar. The  most recent Shalimar flanker was Shalimar Souffle de Parfum.

Shalimar Cologne was developed by perfumer Thierry Wasser. The notes include bergamot, lemon, grapefruit, freesia, jasmine, rose, white musk, vanilla and iris.

Guerlain Shalimar Cologne is available in 50 and 90 ml.

Will definitely sniff this one. Wasn’t a huge fan of the Souffle..it grew on me some and who doesn’t love the bottle, but it didn’t win me over. I will sniff anything Shalimar:)

I guess I will sniff it too, but freesia…don’t want freesia in my Shalimar.

Same here, but then again, I don’t really want freesia anywhere. I’ll sample it, but I’m really holding out for a Shalimar musk flanker. :)

I could live with outlawing freesia altogether ;-)

Freesia, definitely a back seater note..if not too much in front, I am ok with it! I am hoping this isn’t too white musky…I say that a lot these days.:P

OH, Ann, did not mean the cut flower! I love freesia.

It would be nice if they could actually create a freesia note that smelled like the real thing for a start. Ive smelled nothing that said ‘freesia’ that was even close :-/

I will sniff this one too.
Side note: I still cannot get over the hurt of the axing of my dear Parfum Initial… :(

Did you get a celery note with Intial? I do.

Poor Parfum Initial. Death by bad marketing; give it any other name and it’d be a bestseller.

VeraJayne, I get a greenish vibe in the middle somewhere, but no celery.

I am sure I have a vintage Shalimar in cologne somewhere in this house. Will sniff this for sure. Love Shalimar!

The words Shalimar and Cologne just don’t go together I think…

Unless it’s the vintage edc! I have one of those, and it smells richer than my more current extrait!!!

I have a couple Guerlains in Parfum de Toilette concentration and they are fantastic.

I recently found a vintage cologne and I am surprised to see how rich it smells, as you said it is like a current extrait strenght

I was invited to a Shalimar event and I had the chance to try this, I really like it, I have never tried the vintage one though.
I didn’t smell any freesia, it was mostly lemon in the beginning and then it’s changed to a subtler lighter version of Shalimar if this make sense. Great for summer.

I prefer Shalimar flankers to the original, and this sounds like something I would like. Will definitely try it when I come across it!

    Hello,
Has anyone been able to buy Shalimar Cologne in Ireland or the UK? If yes, can you please advise where? I have searched the online stores and phoned a number of shops but none of the Guerlain stockists seems to have it – and they say they never had it. I also contacted Guerlain in Paris but they were unable to advise where I can purchase in Ireland or the UK – which is puzzling. I would really appreciate any advice from NST members. Thank you!

I’m afraid I have no idea, but you’re more likely to find an answer if you post on something recent & widely read — maybe the next weekend open thread or a scent of the day poll? Good luck.
