I thought the original Eau Sauvage already was a cologne? Or at least a take on a cologne.

You would think. Now it officially has Cologne in the title.

Or more, you never know…I was wondering if they’d sneak some white musk in there.

During last 3 days had sniffs of the new Cologne version of Eau Sauvage. I’m disappointed so much.
    1. It has nothing common with the regular Eau Sauvage, even with the modern version. It smells as a sweeter synthetic version of Dior Homme Cologne with some amount of “old fashioned” plastic notes.
    2. It opens with tangerines from Dior Homme Cologne, though the opening is enriched with something like mastique smelling rather “plastic” to me. I have DHC on the one hand, ESC on the other. They are very similar, but ESC is sweeter and more synthetic.
    3. In the base the new Cologne smells like any other modern ozonic aquatic with some sweetness, like, for example, any L’Eau par Kenzo flanker.

After the Eau Sauvage Parfum masterpiece this one smells very cheap. Unfortunately. I will still prefer Dior Homme Cologne or Chanel Allure Homme Sport Cologne in this genre.

I just bought Eau Sauvage Cologne last night. The department store did not have a tester, so I bought it anyway. I must say I am impressed, and reactions have been positive. I always give a fragrance time before I pass judgement on it. It needs to be savoured, and Francois Demachy is a very fine creator of perfumes. This new addition to Eau Sauvage, has been obviously very well thought out by Dior.

I am a huge lover of the Eau Sauvage original, and this new release has enough of the DNA, but, with a variation, as would be expected. I would not want a copy of the original, as that already exists. The flanker is there, to give variety to the Eau Sauvage family. For me this cologne is beautiful, and needs to be given time to be fully appreciated.

Perfume is an abstract for me when it comes to describing, but this Eau Sauvage Cologne comes across as wonderfully floral, and all I can say is Wow!!! or A Caramba.

It smells very refined and expensive, and certainly unique in an overcrowded market place. Cheap is unjust to describe this release, as I have read in other comments, because I smell pure quality. This is Dior after all, and they are masters of crafting a sophisticated fragrance. Fantastic Dior!!! I am a delighted customer!!!
