O’Driu Satyricon ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 21 April 2015 13 Comments

O'Driù Satyricon

Italian niche line O'Driù has launched Satyricon, a new unisex fragrance.

Inspired by the immortal masterpiece of Petronius Arbiter and other artworks it gave rise in painting and sculpture, up to the namesake Fellini’s movie with its decadent and surreal mood, Satyricon carries in an orgiastic experience, with its olfactory suggestions of spices, foods, wine, goat’s and other animals, fruits and holy perfumes, until the sweat on the bodies around.

Satyricon is also much more: it’s the first perfume Angelo Orazio Pregoni realized along with the new noses from WET DREAM - Coming Perfumery “Academy”: Paolo Bazzani, Stefano Macaione and Julìa Papas, amateurs of artistic fragrances, have taken the first step to become perfume makers, embracing – and so making – the philosophy created by the same Pregoni to redefine the world of perfumery in the name of total freedom of expression.

O'Driù Satyricon is available in 50 ml Eau de Parfum, €150.

LOL I do think this may be the first time I’ve seen “goat” in perfume copy!

It has been used at least once before — for their Pathetique:

O’Driu’s wacky explanation of Pathetique sucked me in. I’m not sure exactly what Satyricon is supposed to smell like (goats and wine, I guess), but I feel another inevitability coming on.

I second Robin- that’s a great line! You should work for this brand to class up the advertising ;)

“I feel another inevitability coming on” is a fantastic line, I may borrow it :-)

The person who did the write-up of the fragrance is probably the same one who writes the signs in English which are very difficult to understand.

    “Slip Carefully”
“If you are stolen call the police at once”
    “Accident Much Road”
“No Littering. You will be fine”

This made me lol some, thanks. I didn’t get around to trying the last one. Did it smell like goats? Or goat’s blackberries? Whatever those are? Does that mean dung? LOL, goat’s blackberries.

Satyricon is not for me. I love some of their other scents, my favorites being Peety and Eva Kant. But this one . . . well, they may have developed it while having an orgy. Can only imagine the meeting they had to develop this. Pregoni’s preoccupation with sex – “Wet Dream coming” perfumery, and all the other sexual references are “be-coming” a turn off instead of on. The smell of Satyricon is off putting with a sour body odor skank that is the dominant note. There are resins and cinnamon in there somewhere, but the powerful B.O. eclipses everything else. Not for normal psyches.
