Viktor & Rolf Bonbon ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 23 January 2014 32 Comments

Viktor & Rolf Bonbon

Viktor & Rolf will launch Bonbon, the brand's third fragrance for women (after Flowerbomb and Eau Mega). Bonbon will be fronted by model Edita Vilkeviciute.

The sweet fragrance is in a bottle the shape of a wrapped candy, and features caramel notes, mandarin, orange and peach.

I will update with more details when I can.

(via elle.nl)

Update:

Viktor & Rolf Bonbon is a gourmand, and was developed by perfumers Cécile Matton and Serge Majoullier. The focus is on the caramel note; other notes include mandarin, orange, peach, jasmine, orange blossom, gaiac wood, cedar wood, sandalwood and amber.

It will be available in 30, 50 and 90 ml Eau de Parfum, and is due to launch in March. In the US, it will debut at Saks in April.

Tempted to have a sniff with this one. Gourmand is way up my alley!

I like some gourmands, not others…peach + caramel may be too much for me? We’ll see. I look forward to seeing a better shot of the bottle…it looks like it could be hard to hold.

Is there life after Flowerbomb? Another attempt, we’ll see how it goes.

I’m sure they want to know too…but Spicebomb worked. Eau Mega, not so much.

They are all smelling like candy musks in the dept store as of late. Caramel, I am not a fan of generally. Plus, there is Prada candy and Le Vie Est Belle which have that caramel and funk up the department store enough already:).

Yep! And it sure sounds like another in that vein.

There is no end in sight! Someone in the department store said to me recently that Chanel Chance is now ‘too grandma’, how time flies! This person did like the Eau Tendre flanker but the original Chance was ‘old lady’.

Holy moly, Chance is “old lady.”

Pardon me, I have to go pick up shards of my brain now.

Seeing as how she’s naked, I’d just as soon she keeps it there 🙂

Flowerbomb and Spicebomb are both in the top ten best selling fragrances in France. 1 Million women’s and men’s too. As La vie est belle and Le petit robe noire. Si from Armani, too. It’s quite remarkable how marketing shapes the tastes in what people are choosing to wear nowdays. It’s obvious that the trend Angel initiated back in 1992 still going strong, high street perfumeries currently smell like candy stores. So I guess Bonbon will sell like crazy, even though I’m sure it won’t be something to write home about. Oh well, it’s a trend and as all trends it will reach it’s decadence quite shortly.

Every time I am at the department store, someone is buying Le Vie Est Belle..I am thinking, stop it, stop it!

So here’s my crackpot theory. The way that sin and scandal were the ultimate taboo (Tabu? 🙂 ) for decades, do you think that sweets have replaced them in our weight-obsessed culture as the ultimate transgression? Candy, sugar, chocolate…. these are the new forbidden… I noticed the model in the Prada Candy ads is stuffing her face with cake… I keep thinking we’ll see new perfumes with names like Cup Cake, Icing, Sweet… and even those that don’t spell it out in the name, indulge us in their notes of caramel (not a favorite of mine), cotton candy, vanilla, cocoa, etc.

Love The Name. Love The Ad! LOVE IT ALL! Anything with Peach in it I am Immediately Attracted to, so hope this is done well… Eau Mega never did hit me just right… This Sounds Much Better!

All of the notes mentioned, I absolutely love. But, all of them together in one fragrance…… possibly too much.
From the sound of it, it seems super-sweet! But, I am willing to try it out. It may be something that smells delicious on me.

Flowerbomb starts out nice on me but becomes overwhelming. I keep thinking I’ll get DH Spicebomb so I can borrow it. Will give this a try to see if it’s yummy or nauseating…

La Vie est Belle is one of the most revolting things I have smelled in a long time. I hope this one is less nauseating but I wouldn’t bet on it.

Since we are talking about sweet fragrances, I wanted to mention that I’ve tried Chocolate Crave Perfume on one arm and Aquolina Chocolovers on the other arm, and they are quite similar. Milk chocolate, orange, and something nutty.

It’s kind of hard to find the page on their (the Chocolate Crave folks) web site to order a sample, so if you want to buy a sample, go to the bottom of their customer feedback page at http://www.chocolatecraveperfume.com/feedback.htm. I have no connection to the company 🙂

I bought an entire bottle unsniffed ($29 bucks is close to free, right?). I’m enjoying it. My husband was already very affectionate and cuddly, and now that I smell like chocolate, he is even cuddlier (is that a word?) 🙂

You can order it from Saks ‘online’. That’s how I got my hands on it. And I also heard Saks will have it exclusively for a year. I didn’t care to wait that long.

So yeah, my brother invited me to go to Vegas for the weekend, and of course I said YES. Why you ask? So I can go to Saks and smell Bonbon! Haha! It’s great fun. Of course it’s sweet, but there are much sweeter things out there, IMHO. The salty caramel makes it. I kind of wish there was a bit more saltiness to it. Haha. I love it, but of course I have my V&R bias. Haha! I hope you enjoy this one Robin! And everyone for that matter. Review review! ^_^

So, I’ve worn BonBon only a few times, as every drop is precious $ wise, and my peeps think I’m wearing Fantasy. I bought a bottle of BonBon to smell like Fantasy. Good grief. -_-
