Jennifer Lopez Glowing ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 10 February 2012 29 Comments

Jennifer Lopez Glowing

Jennifer Lopez will launch J Lo Glowing, her latest fragrance for women, in May. Per Ms. Lopez,

Glowing is such a clean fragrance. That’s what I’ve always been about. I like soapy, clean smells. This is a very woodsy scent. So it’s not exactly what I created 10 years ago — it’s the evolution of that...It’s the woodsy side of it, which I think is kind of New York-y, darker and sexier.

Glowing is a floral woody amber developed by perfumers Calice Becker and Caroline Sabas. The notes feature bergamot, mandarin, cypress, orange blossom, muguet, cassia flower, sandalwood, amber sultan, vanilla, vetiver, patchouli and cashmere musk.

J Lo Glowing will be available in 30, 50 and 75 ml Eau de Parfum; the two larger sized bottles will light up when the spray is engaged. In the US, Glowing will be exclusive to Kohls.

Well, I look forward to giving it a sniff. Glow was probably the nicest out of all the stuff she’s done, and still one of the better modern celeb scents.

Glow was really quite nice, and I’ve liked some of her others too. But the line has been noticeably less to my taste since it was downgraded from “Macys-level” to “Kohls-level” — I don’t think Coty is investing as much in J Lo at this point.

Ditto on this Robin. Not interested in Kohls level scents really. I haven’t liked any J-lo..maybe Miami Glow and that newer one Love and Light was alright. But, never bought a Jlo scent. Not too keen on celeb scents anyway.

I thought they did a good job w/ the first Halle Berry, which IIRC started out in Kohl’s to begin with? But often they’re geared younger, and cheaper, than even Macy’s.

I like Miami Glow too. To me, the original Glow smells functional.

I love this perfume. It has a really nice and fresh scent. I usually dont get light fragrances as they tend to fade fast with my body chemistry, but not this one it lasted for a long time and i got so many compliments on the way I smelled,

“Amber sultan”? Is there actual Serge Lutens in there too? : – )

I’ve never smelled any of SL but I believe addind him to perfume would only improve the juice.

In a year of so, Ms.Becker and Ms. Sabas will get to read J Lo discussing how she “developed” Glowing herself.

Ha! Waiting a full year to take credit for “development” is so…..”last season” – I give her a month…….;-)

Oddly enough, I don’t think of JLo as being “clean”. I think of her as being fairly skanky.

What is with the bottle? I’m not feeling it too much. The notes sound good though so that’s a plus. But that bottle?! : (

So it’s clean and soapy, but it’s also dark and sexy? Sigh…

I actually liked Glow. The notes in this one sound pretty good- but I’m not too fond of creamy vanilla woods scents…..hoping this one stays a little brighter on my skin. I turn everything sweet~ anyone else have this issue? A perfumer told me that means my body chemistry is alkaline, which is healthy. Sounds good to me. Ha!

What a cheap looking, tacky bottle.

The bottle is reminiscent of Laura Biagioti’s Mistero Di Roma.

I was fortunate enough to obtain a free sample of this amazing perfume! My husband works at Kohl’s and they gave out some samples. My favorite scents are Euphoria by Calvin Klein, Sexual Sugar by Michel Germain, and I RARELY try anything new. OMG I LOVE GLOWING!! It smells super clean, a little gardenia-ish (but not overpowering). I went to Kohl’s to buy a bottle yesterday and that’s when I learned it won’t be released until May. I think I’m pretty lucky I’ve got a small 2 oz bottle sample ahead of the pack!!! It’s great. You will love it!!!

It’s on Kohls’ website. I hope it’s as good as Glow. It sounds good so she better not disappoint. My Glow, Love and Glamour, LA Glow, and Love and Light have not been favorites of mine. Come on JLO. Haha.

Thanks for letting me know! I’m afraid her days in the prestige market are over — don’t think we’re going to see anything as good as Glow again.
