Just below, the ad for Dior's new Aqua Fahrenheit — it's the same ad they used for Fahrenheit Absolute in 2009, with a new visual at the very end. Below the jump, first up, the original Dior Fahrenheit ad from 1988, then below that the ad for Fahrenheit 32 from 2007.
I am sorry to be so stupid, but what does the “55” and “3” they say in the ad mean?
If you add up all the numbers in the ads, you get the total number of Fahrenheit flankers that Dior are planning to release before the end of the century.
LOL!! Probably.
LOL!!
Not stupid at all — that music is from a Pat Metheny song (and album) called As Falls Wichita, so Falls Wichita Falls. The numbers are in the song, and I don’t know what, if anything, they mean, but they’ve got nothing to do with the scent.
Thanks.
Sorry, I didn’t mean my cheekiness to imply that I thought your question was stupid. I just couldn’t resist the wisecrack.
Seriously though, I think in all the variations of the ads, the numbers have always been presented in descending order. Could that mean anything?
I said the same thing: “What the heck is the meaning of 55 and 3?”
Maybe they’re measurements?
Heres a bit of trivia taken directly from answers.com
“The spoken words ’38, 42, 55, 3′ in the title track occur at 14:38, 14:42, 14:55, and 15:03 into the recording. An excerpt from this track was chosen in 1988 as a sound effect to a Fragrance TV-commercial (Fahrenheit by Christian Dior), which made it more recognizable to the audience as the Fahrenheit music track.”
