Holiday fragrance gifts 2010, part 7

Posted by Robin on 14 December 2010 23 Comments

Time is running out: get that shopping done! If you need more ideas, check out part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, part 5 and part 6. More to come!

From Penhaligon's, a candle in their popular Elixir fragrance: "Opening with eucalyptus and the harmonising hot spices of cardamom, cinnamon and mace, the senses are massaged with the dark magic of Turkish rose and jasmine, sharpened with a twist of orange. Heat and smoke rise and the incense and woods mingle with the earthy rub of resins and spices. A touch of vanilla and the soft persistent roundness of hypnotic Tonka bean complete the atmospheric dry-down." 30 hour burn time, $50 at MiN New York.

The Wood & Leather Discovery Box from Le Jardin Retrouvé: five 15 ml bottles, including Cuir de Russie, Sandalwood, Eau pour Homme, Citron Poivré and Vetyver. 49€.

From Bond no. 9, the Merry Berry Box, with refillable 7 ml travel sprays of Astor Place, Nuits de Noho and The Scent of Peace. $200.

A few hostess gift ideas in the Thymes Frasier Fir scent (not all are shown): Candle ($26), All Purpose Cleaner ($10), Hand Wash ($14), Reed Diffuser ($60), Bar Soap Set (2 bars, $19), Hand Lotion ($14).

A stocking stuffer (assuming you have your stocking stuffers shipped from Paris) from Astier de Villate: scented erasers in three fragrances (Naples, Mantes La Jolie or Rue Saint-Honoré). 4.50€ each.

(My mother placed a few Thymes Frasier Fir candles around her house for Thanksgiving Day. They were lit throughout our get-together, and they smelled wonderful!)

Oh good! But of course I’m drooling over the more expensive Elixir candle.

They both sound wonderful! I got some of the Pacifica Christmas candle sets for gifts. They smell pretty good, too.

Oh God! I really like that discovery box from Le Jardin Retrouve. How much does that translate into US dollars?

          Dolly, it’s a Euro sign. 49 euro = 66 USD

    *grabs Penhaligon’s candle and runs*

As time goes on, I’m more and more drawn to Penhaligon’s, I think because I view so many of their scents as being so different from what I would normally go for. With that sentiment in mind, I’ve been sampling away and really are becoming obsessed with them.

I’d love to get the erasers for the kiddos. We ordered some of the Smencils in the gourmet colored pencil variety from Amazon and I can’t wait to “help the kids” use them, of course. 🙂 I justified the purchase by saying since my daughter’s taking an arts class in January, she’d need some fresh colored pencils for practicing at home.

The Elixir candle would be so lovely for my bedroom… I need to find that sample and try it during the winter, though I loved it just as much in the summer when I received it.

Scented pencils are great, good idea. I’ve seen scented erasers here too, but they’re usually (obviously) in kid fragrances — strawberry & the like.

Wow, so many of these are great! I love Penhaligon’s Elixir, so I totally want that candle. And you can’t go wrong with Thymes Frasier Fir — that’s an awesome scent!

I actually managed to smell the Frasier Fir candle a few weeks ago, and it’s lovely. I want it.

the Merry Berry Box (with refillable 7 ml travel sprays of Astor Place, Nuits de Noho and The Scent of Peace) sure is good bargain, and the tubular bottles are beautiful too :D.

For Canadian candle buyers: last year Chapters put their Frasier Fir candles on sale after Christmas, as they were considered seasonal items — have a look during Boxing week if you’re on the fence…
