Holiday fragrance gifts 2010, part 6 ~ home fragrance edition

Posted by Robin on 10 December 2010 17 Comments

More gift ideas for the 2010 holidays. This round is home fragrance (you can also find some home fragrance items in the earlier editions: part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4 and part 5). More to come!

From Fornasetti Profumi, the L'Ape scented candle with lid (above left), 300 g for $150, and the Pistola Incense box (above right), with 40 incense sticks in a wooden box with decorated ceramic burning tray, $220. Both items are in the Otto fragrance (thyme, lavender, orris, cedar, Tolu balsam, incense, birch/styrax and labdanum) and can be found at Ron Robinson.

From Joya, the Jasmine Absolute & Sugar Candle: "Joya partnered with ceramic design artist Sarah Cihat to bring you the Perfume in Porcelain Collection. Each all natural candle is comprised of essential oils, soy and beeswax and is housed in a subtly glam porcelain vessel. Notes of jasmine, magnolia blossom, tuberose, coffee berry, and toasted marshmallow." 75 hour burn time, $48 at Barneys.

From Caldrea, linen sprays in Basil Blue Sage, Ginger Pomelo and Sea Salt Neroli. $12.99 each for 32 oz at Norby's.

From ElizabethW, scented candles in Parsley Flower and Squash Blossom (there's another, not shown, in Tomato Leaf). $25 for 9 oz.

From The Body Shop, a reed diffuser in Vanilla & Lime Blossom. 125 ml for $19.50.

From Annick Goutal, the (wonderful) limited edition Noël room spray: "The cult fragrance named Noel mixes lemon, bitter orange, mandarin and Siberian pine." $46 for 100 ml at Bergdorf Goodman or Bloomingdales.

I got a sniff of the candle at NM a few weeks ago and it is wonderful–way better than the highly artificial smelling “pine” and “Christmas tree” scents that are so ubiquitous. I don’t use candles (I have cats who tend to knock things off of counters and tables and I don’t want my house to catch on fire), but if I did, I would have bought it. I did not see the room spray there, but it shows up on NM’s online site now, so maybe they just didn’t have it in yet.

The AG, right? I have a decant of the room spray (Kevin reviewed it and kindly sent me some) and it is marvelous.

Oops–yes, I meant the AG Noel candle. Somehow when I edited my comment, I edited a little too much.

No problem! Well, I can vouch for the spray. I have nearly drained my decant.

The Noel room spray is beautiful, and you’ve reminded me to haul my bottle out and spritz around the house a little!

I need to smell the AG room spray. I have all of those essential oils and it should be pretty easy to replicate.

FYI – also noticed a full line of Caldrea products at my local SuperTarget.

I grew up in the Mpls metro area, home of Target, and then at one point moved where there wasn’t a Target to be found within 750 miles. I thought I would die. 😀 And this reminds me… did you find the holiday Mrs. Meyers products?

Oh, ditto — I got used to Target in Southern Cal, and then moved to SE PA & didn’t have one for a few years. I need Target!

But they recently rearranged my local Target, and last I was there, I missed the home cleaning section entirely. I am going again this weekend and am going to look for Mrs Meyers + Caldrea.

the Fornasetti Profumi candle and incense box are seriously cute and I like the sound of those notes but they are expensive so I guess I will not add them to my Christmas list.

Why is it that whenever I read these compilations, my lemming is for the most expensive ones?

Ha! This happens to me, too. Pathetic, aren’t we? 🙂

I used to play a game with myself where I would look at only the images on a catalog page and pick my favorite. ALWAYS the most expensive thing on the page.

I also play that game occasionally and every time it comes up most expensive!! My husband despairs – we have 2 daughters and he fears them inheriting the same ‘skill’. 😉

That is what I do, I read the descriptions, look at the photos and kinda blur my eyes when I see numbers (price.) Always want the most expensive. Always. Pathetic indeed! 🙂

I love Caldrea’s Sea Salt Neroli – I used it to clean my parents’ house after my dad’s death, and it was so fresh and comforting! I stilluse it now – just lovely. I can’t wait to find the linen spray! And the AG Noel is seriously tempting as well – perhaps I’ll have to go prowl some this weekend.
