the idea of her making her own perfume makes me want to vomit too!

j/k —ok, not very eloquent but I think she is just trying to express that the process would be beyond her capabilities to come up with something acceptable. It’d probably be beyond my capabilities as well, so I’ll just stick to sniffing the efforts of others. ;-)

I probably took an unfairly short quote, but just thought it was a great quote…what she’s saying is she thinks celebrities start fashion & perfume lines just for their own egos. Which, as we know, isn’t always true: many of them do it just for the $.

Hmm. Ego vs. desire for more money… as you point out so deftly, Robin, those two aren’t far from each other.

I admire Miss Watson’s determination to grow skills in a new direction and avoid at least some of the “Hot Young Actress” rat-race hoopla.

Thank you, Emma Watson! Ego-enhancement does not go unrewarded in this society, but if she thinks it’s a bore, that suggests she’s a much more interesting, thoughtful person than the average starlet

That young lady has her head on SO straight. The last interview snippet I read, she was talking about going to college to prepare herself for the next stage of her life and not taking the acting gig too seriously. And she doesn’t want to jump on the ‘celebrity scent’ bandwagon. Gotta love her.

    She’s adorable!

Call it reverse snobbery, but I really do think the Brits do a better job w/their celebrities. They expect them to have actual talent, not just looks, and they seem far less spoiled. Granted, there are always exceptions (ahem, VB), but on average, they just seem more sensible.

Agreed! And do note–Posh had to move to LA, which is clearly where she was meant to be all along. Sometimes people are born in the wrong places. :-)

Gosh, I would have said the opposite…B list celebrities that I don’t think could ever get a fragrance contract in the US get them in Britain. Jade Goody, that ice skating woman, Alex Curran, Katie Price…

I think that’s exactly why releasing your own fragrance in the UK is not seen as cool. None of the more ‘sophisticated’ stars in the UK do it. They’d probably rather wear perfume made by Penhaligon’s or Chanel!

You Tube “Emma Watson on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross”. Ms Watson is an ordinary, normal, mature, sensible teenager with nothing more interesting to say for herself than any other girl her age would have. And she doesn’t pretend to, either. The Harry Potter Franchise is the real star of the show, and she seems to realise that. Good for her. And thank God it’s one less celebrity scent to be inflicted upon the world……..

If her career goes anywhere after Potter peters out, you can bet she’ll change her tune. The first Emma Watson fragrance will be called what? Second Thoughts? Eat My Words? Eau Snap?

        Cumming is interesting, isn’t it?
I think he actually worked closely with the perfume people…
I doubt Emma actually cares about perfume… probably why releasing a perfume under her name makes her want to vomit. She is a smart girl!!!

She must have a very delicate stomach. Maybe some celebrities develop their own perfume not for ego or $$’s but , because like us, they love perfume

maybe some, but probably not most
in fact, I have seen several celebrities say that they usually don’t like/wear perfume when talking about their own releases.

If I was a celebrity, I’d definitely want to release one. mostly because I love perfume.

I think she’s adorable, and that quote makes me love her :)

Now I’m all curious about what perfume she wears … if I were going to pick one for her, I’d go with Ormonde Jayne – Osmanthus or Frangipani for daytime, Ta’if for night. But that’s just me.

I read somewhere that before she inherited her Harry Potter money, she had money management lessons, learning about good investments and philanthropy. I know she supports UNICEF. And that she intends to go to university.

I hope she stays smart and sweet, while moving into adulthood.

Props to Emma, let’s just hope commercialism and quick profiteering don’t sway her eventually.
