Alliance Française de San Diego presents a talk with perfumer Christophe Laudamiel:
« Senior Perfumer », « Invisible Designer », « Perfume Designer » ... So many titles, yet non sum up the full extent of Christophe Laudamiel's creativity. For 8 years, he worked for International Flavor and Fragrances in New York, where he produced an impressive number of creations for some of the biggest names in fashion, including, Happy Heart and Happy in Bloom (Clinique), HN for Men and HN for Women (Harvey Nichols), Le Baiser de l'Artiste (Orlan), Absinth and Mimosa (Slatkin & Co.), Polo Blue for Men and Bougie Pink Pony (Ralph Lauren). World renowned French perfume creator Christophe Laudamiel invites us to travel to the heart of our senses, to biological levels within the universe of emotions awakened by smells. He will show us how olfactory senses are a powerful means of communicating and educating, in the business world, as well as in our personal lives. Laudamiel will talk about the use of technologies associated with the spread of a scent in order to create a specifically intended ambiance or concept. After significant scientific training, including graduating at the top of his class from the École Européenne des Hautes Études des Industries Chimiques, Christophe Laudamiel went on to teach chemistry at MIT and received a Perfumer-Creator certification from Proctor & Gamble.
The talk will be in English, and will take place on Saturday, May 23rd, from 4 - 6 pm at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center in La Jolla. The event is free for members of Alliance Française; a donation is suggested for non-members. You can reserve a seat by emailing reservations@afsandiego.org, or call the event coordinator, Corinne Bagnol, at (858) 254-2253 for more information.
Cool! this is right near my office, I will attend and report back!
Lucky you — both to work in La Jolla, and to get to attend.
Finally, a major fragrance-related goings-on in San Diego. Cazaubon, maybe I’ll see you there.
Looks like Christophe Laudamiel is taking this show on the road. He will also be speaking at the French Library Alliance Française in Boston on May 11, 6:30-8:30 pm, at 53 Malborough Street. (Saw this in the paper, with a number listed for more info: 617-912-0400).
Many thanks — will post that!
Hey! Did anyone actually go to this? I have the chance to see him in Boston tonight, and I’m wondering whether any of my fellow parfumistas enjoyed this event in one of the other cities.
I just saw him today (I know it’s too late for the Bostonians), and he was great. His talk was fascinating and informative.
