Bunch o’ limited edition collector bottles & summer fragrances 2009, part 4

Posted by Robin on 18 March 2009 16 Comments

More limited edition collector fragrance bottles, with the usual disclaimers: in most of these cases, the juice is unchanged, just the bottle is "special" (or not, as the case may be), and some of these may not be available in the US. I've also included a few summer flankers this time.

Clinique Happy GemsL'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme

From Clinique, the limited edition Happy Gems set (shown above left), with 100 ml of Clinique Happy, a Happy Charm and a Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss. Available in travel retail. (via press release)

From Issey Miyake, the yearly summer versions of L'Eau d'Issey. "This limited-edition bottle evokes the bright, carefree days of summer with enticing hints of color enlivening its fresh, transparent impression." The men's version is shown above right, the men's and women's summer limited edition fragrances can be found now at Sephora. You can see past versions here: 2008, 2007, 2006. (via sephora)

JPG Classique Summer 2009JPG Le Male summer

Also at Sephora, the yearly summer versions of Jean Paul Gaultier Classique (above left, 100 ml alcohol-free Eau de Toilette) and Le Mâle (above right, 125 ml Eau de Toilette). Like the new Ma Dame Eau Fraiche, the bottles are "inspired by Gaultier's Eden". You can see past versions here: 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008.

DKNY Pink Delicious

From Donna Karan, the DKNY Pink Delicious Limited Edition: "Delicious Kisses celebrates romance in a fresh, enticing way. For this special occasion, the DKNY Be Delicious bottle transforms into a delectable pink apple. Innocent but sexy, sweet yet sinful. It’s the perfect gift for her. Pink is for romance. And romance is in the air. This special edition DKNY Be Delicious bottle comes in a very romantic shade of pink and contains DKNY Be Delicious Eau de Parfum." 50 ml for $52, available at Macy's.

It isn't doing anything for me either. Maybe the BD fans will love it. I want that L'Eau d'Issey bottle though!

None of these bottles seem so unusual and special to be coveted special collect-me-now-I'm-limited kind of importance. Admittedly, I'm not a 'bottle girl' , I'm definitely a 'juice girl' but the above collection seems kind of meh.

It isn't the most unusual set, you're right. I'd still like to have that Issey Miyake.

Just picked up the Eau D'Ete Issey Miyake this afternoon at Macy*s. While I really can't stomach the regular version of this scent – the calone/marine notes hit me with such force that it induces a headache – the summer version is beautifully done; sheer, transparent and not so in-your-face. The photo of the bottle doesn't do it justice. It's really very nice.

I like the JPG, will have to get it. Much better than last year's. Any news on Cacharel summer editions?

Don't get me wrong…I admire the pretty bottles, but since I keep all my FBs in the refrigerator I try really hard to not let my purchases be influenced by the pretty packaging. Things I only wear occasionally, I spritz on cold (brrrr, refreshing) and things I wear frequently I keep 10ml decants on my dressertop.

I have friends who keep their bottles out on display and I sigh over how it looks…but I just can't do it. :~(

Yes, I agree…all my full bottles are kept in the fridge. Since I live alone, I'm the only person who'll ever see it. But it'll still cause me to grin to myself when I grab it and spritz.

Julien, thanks so much — I figured it had to look even better in person.

There must be the usual Amor Amor things, but haven't seen them yet — although admittedly also haven't been looking. There are too many new fragrances this year, again!
