Versace Versense ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 5 March 2009 21 Comments

Versace Versence fragranceVersace will launch Versace Versense this spring. The new perfume for women promises to highlight notes from the Mediterranean and to "perfectly interpret the contrast between freshness and sexiness".

The fragrance notes include bergamot, green mandarin, fig, sea lily, cardamom, jasmine, cedar, sandalwood, olive wood and musk.

Versace Versense will be available in 50 ml Eau de Toilette and in matching body products.

I just may have to sniff this one. The notes are right up my alley.

Agree — the notes sound nice. I rarely like a Versace though.

I know! The cedar, cardamom, sandalwood, musk, and olive wood sound irresistable. But, Versace doesn't usually smell great on my skin. So, we'll see.

Sounds wonderful and if it develops well it will be the first Versace to work well with my chemistry.

Robin, can you recommend a classy coconut fragrance for summer other than Premier Figuier Extreme and Philosykos? Am trying to replace my Azuree Soleil since the bottle will run out and the new Bronze Goddess smells different on me, like they replaced lovely frangipani with cloying gardenia. Maybe they spilled Tuberose Gardenia in the Azuree Soleil mix.

Tuberose Gardenia smells lovely on my clothes after 3 days, but before that it's quite the chemical weapon more's the pity.

I really like the green colored juice! Very striking. The blue juice for the pour Homme is also neat.

Wouldn't call it classy as such, but J Lo's Deseo isn't half bad for a sleb scent, also in the coconut department.

Otherwise you may be talking Creed Virgin Island Water. That would be niche coconut for sure, if that is what you are after!

I was pleasantly surprised by Crystal Noir recently, and a mini is currently winging my way courtesy of lovethescents. Just as I was pleasantly surprised by Kate Moss Velvet Hour this week, and Valentino V the week before. In fact a pattern may be emerging of liking just one scent in an otherwise dodgy designer line.

And no sooner than it has emerged, that pattern may shortly be broken, because I very much like the sound of this new one! Makes perfect Versense to me!

LOL at “an otherwise dodgy designer line” — that cracked me up. But sounds like you're becoming a Versace fan!

Gosh. Classy coconut is hard to come by. You really found BG *that* different from AS? I though them pretty darned close to each other.

Anyway, maybe Parfums de Nicolai Cococabana? Will have to see if I can think of anything else.

sigh! Other than being Italian, Versace stands for everything I am not. And yet somehow their perfumes always 'work' on me. I don't like them in the bottle or on a card, but put them on my skin and in 10 minutes voila! it's a new perfume. So I will have to try this now and see if it has the same magic.

    This sounds nice…
I haven't tried anything Versace for women, I don't think. I'll try this if it's at Sephora the next time I go.

Looking SO SO Forward to this… the Recent Versace Uomo and Donna fragrances released were Fantastic Bordering on Phenomenal.. (especially the Womens Version, EXQUISITE!) so this is hopefully going to pull the Versace line closer to salvation… I hated, HATED Bright Crystal, Just Smells CHEAP, and Crystal Noir is Quite Sexy and lovely, but many of the older scents developed after the Death of Gianni Just plain Suck or Reek! you should try V'E Versace if you want to smell something complexly Beautiful! This Actually sounds Quite Lovely… Am Waiting for it Anxiously!

BTW… Comptoir Sud Pacifique has a few Coconut Imbued scents as well….

Not a single women's has ever worked for me. I like The Dreamer for men though.

I actually find Hypnotic Poison to be quite coconut-y. Though it's definitely not associated with summertime, I find it a “beachy” scent. I wear it at night in the summer.

I love the list of notes, must try this! I don't think I've encountered olivewood as a note before.

I haven't seen it much either, although Gucci Pour Homme 2 has it.

I’m just hoping for some help…what is going on with Crystal Noir perfume? It’s impossible to find other then in the 1.7 size bottle and I’m seeing that sites like osmoz.com don’t even list it in the Versace line anymore!?!? Has it been D/c’d? And if so…what will I do!??? I haven’t smelled all of the Versace line but I did try Bright Crystal in the hopes that it was a version of Noir and I just gagged! HELP!?!?!?

I really don’t know if it’s being phased out or not, sorry. Nordstrom has it online in a 3 oz size though.
