Avon + Patrick Dempsey Unscripted ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 22 July 2008 17 Comments

Patrick Dempsey UnscriptedAs previously reported, Patrick Dempsey, the star of Grey's Anatomy, will be launching a new fragrance for men in conjunction with Avon. Patrick Dempsey Unscripted will debut in November under the tag line "Follow Your Passion":

Dempsey played a leading role in the development of Patrick Dempsey Unscripted and was intimately involved with the concept, name, package and olfactive notes. The end result is a true reflection of the man behind the fragrance.

[...] "Collaborating with Avon to create Unscripted has been such an exciting journey for me," says Dempsey. "I enjoyed the opportunity to play a different creative role by working on this fragrance from start to finish. Unscripted is about loving what you do and doing it in your own unique way."

Patrick Dempsey Unscripted fragrance bottleUnscripted is a green woody scent developed by perfumers Yves Cassar and Pascal Guarin, who also worked as a team on Avon's upcoming Ungaro U by Ungaro For Him. The notes include cardamom, black peppercorn, fig, lavender, leatherwood, patchouli, vetiver and musk.

Avon + Patrick Dempsey Unscripted will be available in 75 ml, concentration unknown, for $32. (quote and first image via media.prnewswire, additional information and second image via wwd)

Other recent & upcoming releases from Avon: Cynthia Rowley Flower & Petal, True Glow, U by Ungaro, Bond Girl 007, Tahitian Holiday, Make Me Smile, Make Me Wonder, Fire Me Up.

I think that it is ok to disclose that dempsey's wife Jilian Dempsey, works for Avon, and that I think that is where the idea to do the frag came from.

The notes sound ok to me. I will drop by the Avon store in november to check it out! 🙂

Unrelated P.S.: Robin I found out today that there is a GAP fragrances stand in a mall near my work here in BA.

It is not as if Lutens or CdG were suddenly begin to be distributed here in Argentina, but at least is good to know I have access to more stuff (I tend to like some GAP releases ) and before they were completely unavailable here. Also the stand carries Banana Republic. (not so great IMHO, Gap tends to be more adventurous regarding the notes)

As a trivia thing, neither GAP nor Banana Republic clothing lines have official distribution channels/stores here in BA, save for the odd boutique that brings some items isolatedly

Thanks, you know more about Dempsey than I do 🙂

It is weird to imagine a place on earth where there isn't a Gap within 10 minutes driving distance, LOL…they are so ubiquitous here. And hey, do they have the mythical Gap Grass??

The notes do sound ok, the bottle is simple and not too fancy. Cheap too so I'll check it out as well, but since it's Avon I don't have any high expectations.

Since it's Avon, I'll never get to try it at all.

No, No gap grass and no DREAMS and no Blue N655 for men.

Still, the new aud e colognes have a number, so I can only wish they will reintroduce them at some point!!! 🙂

Grass was huge here in the 90's, as was Dreams.

I understand that in the U.S. you are saturated.. yet here they are something akin of a status symbol…. Does that speak volumes about supply-demand or what? 😉

I meant eau de colognes, as is jasmine and citrus and lavender, etc. as per GAP website

What, you don't have an Avon representative where you work, and nobody ever leaves catalogues lying around (on park benches, in bus shelters, and so on) or puts up posters on telephone poles and community bulletin boards? Because around these parts you can't turn around without bumping into Avon. They do everything but cold-call your house.

LOL — when I worked in an office, Avon was readily available — the catalogs were always waiting in a stack in the ladies room. Now, no more access.

I live in Australia and there isn't even a Gap in my STATE! Having said that, I actually have two bottles of Grass! It is relatively easy to get on ebay and is not even expensive. The scent itself reminds me of Calyx and Emerald Dream. Nice.

Eventually I'll give up & buy it on eBay like everyone else 🙂

Hi Jess, of course that's true, but what I want is to try before I buy and I've no way to do that anymore. Thanks though!

Finally scored a bottle on eBay for $6 not including shipping! It's definitely wearable, not too strong or lasting, and generically black-pepper-y. Worth the price!
