Posted by Robin on 14 July 2008 14 Comments

La Voce by Renee Fleming fragranceCoty will launch La Voce by Renee Fleming, a limited edition fragrance created in honor of opera star Renee Fleming. Proceeds from the perfume's sales will go to the Metropolitan Opera, and the scent will debut at their Opening Night Gala on September 22 before going into wider distribution.

The floriental fragrance features notes of passion fruit, white truffle accord, jasmine, lily of the valley, dark chocolate mousse and ebony wood.

La Voce by Renee Fleming will be available in 50 ml, concentration unknown, for $200. The bottle design was inspired by a chandelier at the Met, and includes a wearable brooch. (via prnewswire, wwd)

Profumo di Acqua di ParmaAcqua di Parma has updated their Profumo di Acqua di Parma fragrance, which originally launched in 1930. The new scent will be introduced this coming September.

The new chypre juice is by perfumer Nathalie Lorson, and features notes of bergamot, ylang ylang, peony, jasmine, Bulgarian rose, labdanum, vetiver, patchouli, sandalwood and musk.

Acqua di Parma Profumo will be available in 100 and 150 ml Eau de Parfum. (via cosmeticnews, luxgallery.it)

Ohhh, the new AdP juice sounds nice, love frags with labdanum, vetiver, patchouli, musk but sandalwood does funny things, have to try first…..

The old one was nice, too, but rather old fashioned (and rather hard to find) & assuming this one will smell more “modern”. A shame for anyone who loved the original, though.

R: Yikes…the packaging on the “Met/Fleming” scent! I'm surprised there's not a mini curtain, and a tiny figure of Renee as Tosca twirling on the box-top! I guess we know where most of the $200 per bottle went….K

K, have to agree — $200 seems low for that extravaganza, and the juice can't have taken up much of it. Almost hoping it was a misprint in WWD? But hey, if it was $200 and had a curtain & Renee Fleming twirling on the top, I'd need one…and so would you ;-)

i like the over-the-top packaging on the fleming piece – it fits opera.

and, better stock up on the old profumo, because a new formulation usually means they are ruining a perfectly good chypre. and this is one of the oomphiest.

Yes, would agree it's a good fit.

And also agree on the Profumi — I really doubt the new one will be as deep & rich as the old.

Well if SJP, J. Lo etc have their own I don't see why La Fleming can't? And the packaging sure knocks the socks off the competition… but I would hate to be in the Gala audience on that night – the whole theatre will reek! As for me, I might just get a bottle and as the curtain rises on her new Arabella DVD, ceremoniously open the package, dab a little on my writsts, pin the brooch to my flannel pyjama top, and recline in my armchair sipping on hot chocolate as her glorious voice and the music of Strauss washes over me.

Oh my, with those notes, I hope they don't sell it until AFTER the performance. Your plan sounds perfect!

You know there is a “Profumo” by Acqua Di Parma available on Sephora.com now, it goes for $173. I'm wondering if that is the old version (must be because last time I've seen it at Sephora was a year ago) and now I'm reading the new, “updated” version will be available in September. I read somewhere that Profumo (I the one from Sephora available now) has over… 300 all organic ingredients! I also heard those ingredients are made from best-quality essences. If You think about that then this $173 for a bottle of this juice isn't sooo expensive anymore. I love Acqua Di Parma, their fragrances and their awesome customer service. I should save up some money and buy a whole bottle of Profumo – but now which one should I go for? The old or the new version?

That is the old one. I haven't smelled the new one so couldn't say which you should buy, sorry! I like the old one ok, but I don't love it.

The new profumo is available in Harrods – must be a special deal for them until Sept, it was like 150 pounds or something, I can't describe well, but I loved it a lot more then the old the saleswoman was saying it had lots of oudh, hadnt seen the notes yet, so who knows she could have just seen a dumb american :)

Aha, thanks — didn't know it was out yet. And who knows, maybe it does have oudh? That makes me more interested in trying it.

I love Renee Fleming! For a while now I was really hoping an opera singer would put out a perfume, and now they have and Renee Fleming happens to be my favourite opera singer, and idol.
I really hope that this fragrance comes to Vancouver so I can try it on, and if I like it i just might buy it because how often does Renee Fleming put out a perfume?! But wow 200 for 50 ml? That sure is pricey, I guess I will have to love it not like it.
It looks like it will smell good, those notes sound very nice together, but who knows. The bottle looks absolutely beautiful as well. I wonder if Renee Fleming actually wears this scent? What do you think?

I really don't think this is going to be in wide distribution unless it sells well enough that they do a cheaper version. If you're dying to own it, I'd be looking for a bottle now.

No idea if RF wears it, sorry.
