Christian Dior Miss Dior Cherie Blooming Bouquet, MAC Hue: Turquatic Heat ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 11 June 2008 21 Comments

Miss Dior Cherie Blooming Bouquet perfume

Christian Dior will introduce an Asia-exclusive version of Miss Dior Chérie this August, Miss Dior Chérie Blooming Bouquet:

Dior Operational Marketing Director for Travel Retail Alain Cadet commented: “Our Asian customers loved Miss Dior Chérie’s bottle, with the elegant little ribbon, and loved the colour pink. Still, the fragrance was too Western, and not suited to Asian tastes.”

Dior perfumers went back to the drawing board to create what the company defines as “an Asian-friendly interpretation of Miss Dior".

The fragrance notes for the new version include mandarin essence, peony and white musk.

MAC Hue: Turquatic Heat perfumeCosmetics line MAC has launched a new flanker to MAC Hue: Turquatic, MAC Hue: Turquatic Heat:

Like its sister fragrance, refreshing to the senses but infused with a sultry Mediterranean allure throughout its middle-notes. The first splash is aqua-vescent, as sun-touched cedrat, mineral water and lotus flower explode on the skin. Heat and passion follow as opulent orris, jasmine and tiare soul fuse to create a blend that's modern, feminine and ultra-sexy. The scent that lingers on the skin: an earthy afterglow of cedarwood teased by a heartfelt blend of white patchouli, amber and vanilla infusion.

MAC Hue: Turquatic Heat is $22.50 for 20 ml, concentration unknown, and is available now at Nordstrom. (via nordstrom)

    What is “Asian-friendly” in fragrance?

Asian friendly, I think, is probably something very very light, since they apreciate subtle scents.

Does anybody knows if the Dior Homme Sport, that are going to be launched , is a flanker to the original one?

I hate to be a spoil sport here… but Miss Dior Cherie was AWFUL smelling to me… like a big box of Candied Strawberries! it was Offensively Cheap smelling and Linear and had really no soul to it. how this Catatstrophe has been such a best seller is far beyond my cognitive powers (Addict and all it's Nonsense Flankers as well are Detestable) Dior last made fragrance Nirvana with “J'Adore” and the Poison Flankers have been really awesome as well, strangely enough (Hypnotic Poison is an Unrecognized Minor Masterpiece and Pure Poison Smells Better than the Original Poison, Midnight is Quite Ravishing as well, maybe a little too synthetic in places but still lovely and if you all can grab a bottle Of Tendre Poison i Suggest you do so! it is Poison, But in a GREEN mode and is phenomenally Fresh yet Sultry!) But as i was saying… I can't forsee this scent being any more Scintillating for being more… ASIAN! seems as it will simply be Less Sweet but Still Cheap Smelling! which i know we all can agree on we can do without!

Another Miss Dior Cherie flanker? Jeez, it's being overworked in such a little period.

Now, I'm curious to sniff it, but really, releasing another so quickly seems silly to me.

I wonder how this trend of light fragrances for Asia started. I mean, in ancient Japan, a good perfume (i.e. incense was burned and clothes were waved through the smoke) could be smelled from about 100 feet away. It's quite interesting, no?

Usually lighter, sometimes sweeter & fruitier although in this case, don't see how it could be so guessing just lighter.

MDC is not a favorite of mine either. Guessing this one will just be much lighter.

It isn't getting a general release, so most people here will never even know about it. Chandler Burr has written some interesting articles about scent in Asia if you do a search at the New York Times.

These “Asian friendly” renditions are mostly for the mainland Chinese market, an emerging market with a huge potential. More and more cash rich mainland Chinese are switching to Western style consumerism, and many companies are tweaking their products to better comply with their tastes. In case of perfumes, this means lighter, inoffensive fragrances.

Don't know what is really “Asian friendly” I thought it was something along the lines of Yohji Yamamoto, something like a light floral aquatic air freshener.

But the other day I saw this young Asian woman come up the SA in Parfumerie Douglas with a bottle of Moon Sparkle in her hand and ask “Excuse me, I need something sweeter than this, can you advise me?” Jaws dropping all around :-)

Now regarding MAC, am not so familiar with the line as they just opened a boutique nearby and they have makeup only and more then I'll ever use, but I know this much. Hope it's not just me noticing, but after the Success of Azuree Soleil there is a lot of this coconut-tiare-cedarwood combination in summer fragrances and body products.

Yes, although many of them do very well in Japan as well.

The MAC fragrances are pretty good for the price, although so far I've only really liked one of them and can't remember if it is MAC 2 or MAC 3. Agree on the coconut tiare, it is very popular the last few years.

I found MDC to be far too sweet and cloying in all its current incarnations, so hopefully this new “Asian-friendly” version will be more appealing.

Absolutely LOVE Turquatic – can't wait to smell Heat!

Guessing it will be lighter, at least, and maybe less sweet — who knows?

My mom got me Blooming Bouquet for my birthday. It's quite lovely really. It has a sort of faint citrusy lemony smell which I can't say for sure what it really is but the major letdown was the lasting power.

I was so disappointed when I went out for a date hoping to smell great but unfortunately, the smell went faint as soon as half an hour. I am dead serious. Half an hour is crazy. What a letdown.

Oh, that's a shame! I'd expect it to be lighter than the regular, but not THAT light.
