More limited edition summer fragrances for 2008

Posted by Robin on 6 April 2008 29 Comments

Three more limited editions for 2008:

DKNY Be Delicious Charmingly Delicious perfumeFrom Donna Karan, this year's summer versions of the DKNY Delicious fragrances. Shown is Be Delicious Charmingly Delicious, in which "an exclusive American apple note is added, enhanced with energetic solar freshness and dewy watery notes to create a scent full of summer brightness and fresh energy". Red Delicious Charmingly Delicious "is a summer cocktail of sumptuous red fruits, mouth-watering apple, and sexy vanilla". The scents are sold separately in 125 ml Eau de Toilette, or in a set with both fragrances in travel-sized sprays. (via sephora)

Clinique Happy in Bloom perfumeClinique has brought back Happy in Bloom for another limited run in 2008 (no idea if the juice is revised):

Here just for spring. New limited-edition Clinique Happy In Bloom celebrates a world suddenly in flower—sweeter, softer, brighter. Why spring is the season of constant anticipation.

Clinique Happy in Bloom is available in 50 ml. (via nordstrom)

Joop Hot Summer collection fragrancesAnd from Joop, we've got Joop! Homme Hot Summer, Joop! Go Hot Summer and Joop! Jump Hot Summer.

So far, I have not been able to find meaningful descriptions of the Hot Summer collection, but I'll add them later if I do. They are all available for pre-order at escentual in the UK.

What is it about that DKNY bottle that repulses me so?

Could it be the outer packaging? Looks like a glorified ziplock bag to me.

I thought the DK bottle was rather disgusting looking as well. I'm not a huge fan of the Be Delicious fragrance line. Tend to go for the Cashmeres more.

I'm not a Delicious fan either — Chaos & Black Cashmere have been my favorites, followed by Gold.

the magazine of the DKNY scents reminded me of shampoo, really nice shampoo, but still…

Maybe that is my problem with anything apple-based — it all smells like shampoo or candy.

It looks very sterile, but maybe it is intended for easy travel?

Black Cashmere is nice…I got a full bottle because one of my mother-in-laws bought in while flying and did not like it on the ground. I ended up with D&G light blue and a bottle of Be Delicious for the same reason…I like 2 out of 3 of them, I also am not a huge Delicious fan, but it is OK, and once in a blue moon, it strikes my fancy.

I only sniffed the Gold Bottle and also on a tissue, is it very nice?

The Happy in Bloom is a cute bottle, have you tried it?

The bottle looks like a grotesque, bloated frog.

Dolce & Gabbana with their Light Blue are the only ones to make a tolerable apple frag.

I don't go much for Donna Karan – Cashmere is OK, Black Cashmere would be OK too if it wasn't for YSL “NU”. “Gold” is so well-blended I can't smell anything. It's like a poor version of Agent Provocateur Maitresse.

Happy in Bloom is cute but too flowery for me. The original Happy is still the best. Happy to Be is also nice, there's a bit of chocolate in there but you need to spray often.

I'm not a big fan of Donna Karans fragrances in general and this bottle plus bag look terrible to me as well. Miserable color, something like pukegreen.

It would be so nice if Clinique would come with something new instead of another Happy scent. It is getting a bit boring.

As for Joop: three new scents is too many.

I really liked Gold very much, but many people didn't — YMMV.

I tried it last summer. Not a big Happy fan to begin w/, and just didn't strike me as very interesting although it's fine.

“Charmingly Delicious?” Sounds too much like the Lucky Charms cereal tag line.

Incredibly Charmingly Delicious. Deliciously Applish Delicious. Amazingly Mouthwateringly Red and Green, no, Yellow Delicious. Shockingly Delicious Summer! Really Really Delicious Fall. Sweetly Delicately Overripe Yet Still Delicious.

    We're edging toward rotten apples.

I definitely got frog from the bottle too, only I see a plastic-infused gland that pops out of the tenth grade dissection. Don't much care to find out what's inside that gland …
