Britney Spears Believe ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 17 August 2007 25 Comments

Britney Spears Believe perfumeBritney Spears will launch her next fragrance, Believe, next month with the tag line "The greatest freedom is to believe in yourself":

Top: Inner light shines outward with a mouthwatering top note of guava pulp and golden tangerine

Heart: A delicate blend of feminine honeysuckle is intertwined with hints of linden blossom

Dry down: A balance of sophistication and youthful spirit, patchouli aura is wrapped in a wink of sensual amber and pink pralines

Britney Spears Believe fragrance bottleBritney Spears Believe is an Eau de Parfum, and is available in 100 ml for $58. If you pre-order now from elizabetharden, you'll get a free Britney Spears Believe T-shirt; or pre-order from britneyspearsbelieve and get an unspecified "free gift". Orders are to ship in late September. (quotes via elizabetharden.com)

Side note: There has been a fair amount of controversy over the fragrance ad shown above. Britney was rumored to have walked out of her photo shoot in a rage, and some have claimed that a body double was used for the final ad. Elizabeth Arden says nope, that's Britney. If you care, you can read more at Access Hollywood.

Other recent releases from Britney Spears: Midnight Fantasy.

Three celebrity fragrances in a row…. wow! Although the bottle for Believe looks kinda cool.
I did like the article about Takashimaya yesterday. It sounds like a must-see for perfume addicts. For some reason, Firefox wouldn't let me comment on it, but my complements to the author.

I like this bottle MUCH better than any of her prior fragrance bottles (although I haven't seen it in person).

Tak is a lovely store, one of my favorites stops in NY! We're going to be doing more brick 'n mortar store articles, but for a whole variety of reasons, we're not going to take comments on them.

Makes sense – the no comments thing. It will be fun to read the upcoming articles.

And thanks for not busting me on the fact that the Guerlain is not really a celebrity fragrance – I was distracted by Hillary Swank, I guess.

Which means you recognised her! I certainly didn't, LOL.

Does Britney really think we 'believe' that that's her own body in the ad?

It certainly doesn't match up with any pictures I've seen of her in the press lately, I have to say. But what do I know. I don't think they're claiming they didn't photoshop the picture, just that it really is Britney.

By the way N, if you get the chance, could you send me an email? Want to ask you a question (nowsmellthis at comcast dot net).

It's very kind of you to give me an out like that. I was willing to 'fess up to not being able to add. :)

I just realized that for some reason my smiley/emoticon has no nose, which is sort of ironic considering this is a fragrance blog.

I'm not getting how that bottle…works. Does it have a teeny-tiny triangular base, which would make it awfully tippy, or is the pyramid set into a block of glass (sort of like the Michael Kors perfume bottle) which doesn't show up in the picture, or what? I'm really baffled.
Nice bottle, though, even if the scent sounds fairly appalling.

And I “believe” that Ms. Spears is a wh—…oh, let me stop while I'm still half-way civil!

    Hugs!

Guessing the teeny-tiny triangular base? But haven't seen it in person so don't know. I was just so happy that it didn't have rhinestones in it.

That is definately a picture of her from when she was about 19…

I don't know what anyone can “believe” from her. She's just so self destructive now.

Yup, that's Britney, all right. After LOADS of photo shop. Interesting commercial on youtube, called the Evolution of Beauty by Dove. Shows how much work is done to create a final product in advertising, I think every teenage girl should see it.

I thought that was about how old she was now, so will have to take myself off to Wikipedia…

Cool bottle, not sure about the scent. I didn' like 'Curious' & it sounds like that, rather then 'Fantasy'.

I guess it depends on what they do with the base — whether it is really light like Curious or something darker & more sexy.

It's funny; everyone I know thinks 'Curious' is light & sweet, but on me it's heavy & way too strong.
