Coty – Kate Moss fragrance deal confirmed

Posted by Robin on 16 February 2007 19 Comments

Kate Moss for Chanel fragranceRumors that Kate Moss would launch a perfume with Coty have been confirmed. Her debut fragrance will roll out in September, but won't reach the United States until 2008:

Describing the fragrance concept, Steve Mormoris, senior vice president of global marketing for Coty Beauty, said it was "a mix of elegant and risqué," with smoky rose and black undertones and a vintage English feel. He added that the "complicated floral" scent reflected the duality of Moss. "It captures the two sides of Kate: the good Kate and the bad Kate," said Mormoris.

Speaking strictly as a perfume lover, I am hoping that there is LOTS of the bad Kate in the fragrance. We shall see! (via Women's Wear Daily) It seems unlikely now that we'll see a Kate Moss fragrance for Topshop.

Update: you can read a few more details about the Kate Moss perfume here.

I wonder how they'll replicate the cocaine note? 😛

Yep, I want Bad Kate in a bottle too. Surely Bad Kate can't possibly equal fruity floral? ;-D

That was my first thought too. I am also curious about the “vintage English feel”.

I'm assuming it will smell heavily of tobacco, as she's rarely photographed in private without a cigarette in hand….

Oh please dear God no! Why Coty!? I love Kate and I don't care what she did wrong. There's nothing good about Coty products or fragrances. It's that simple. People who hate Kate like my wife who think she should've had her kids taken away with just love this news to death. Heavy sigh.

I hope it is a more unique celeb fragrance. Smoky rose and black undertones…Vintage english must mean they want a retro touch as well. Give it a break about her past. If every celeb who did drugs at one time had their kids taken, not many would be exempt.

    What is a “black” undertone?

    LOL…headspace technology?

Seriously, I am happy about black undertones, not necessary thrilled about vintage English feel, which makes me think of Penhaligons or something.

One would hope!! If they do a fruity floral with cupcake, I'm giving up on celebrity scents for good.

True enough! A little tobacco in a celebrity scent would be a welcome change though…it beats strawberry sorbet in my book any day 😉

Really? I don't think have such a negative association with Coty, I guess. What company would you have preferred?

I hope so too!! I couldn't care less about her past, which I know little enough about anyway. Just give me a unique celebrity scent, and I'll be happy.

Who knows? Something dark and sexy, presumably, instead of the standard issue, bland pale woody musk that is the base for almost every celebrity scent on the market. Or just my wishful thinking 🙂

I wonder if it will include a Moss note? What a great way for the perfume world to explore a sweaty, tweaked-out accord for people to experience! And let's not forget the bathroom stall note and clean mirror note!

    Okay, okay, enough iMav! 🙂

LOL! Poor Kate, she is going to get plenty of teasing on the blogs & boards.

BTW, wearing your Muna rose attar today, it is lovely. Where did you buy it?

    Hey R,

So glad you're enjoying the Muna, love it when the attar settles and the amber, almost vanillic note peeks through with that spicy undercurrent keeping the rose smelling lush and full.

I found it for the best price here, I can't believe I picked it up at that price for something with all natural raw materials:

They're very nice people when you email them, standard shipping is free (they're located in MD), but if you prefer another means such as Priority Mail or UPS let them know in the comments section of the order and they will add it to your order at-cost. Email them ahead if you'd like the amount for shipping before placing your order.

Sadly this reminds me of a stand up joke I heard not too long ago: I'm not addicted to cocaine, I just really like the way it smells.
That said, I hope there's a least a smidge more bad Kate than good Kate in it, too!

Thanks, going to check out the rest of the line too. The brand does have a website in case you missed it:

    http://www.swissarabian.com/

but it isn't informative on the individual scents.
