News from Le Labo

Posted by Robin on 9 January 2007 10 Comments

New York-based niche perfume house Le Labo continues to expand, and is planning to open two new boutiques this year in Los Angeles and Tokyo. They will also be opening in-store boutiques in Barneys San Francisco and Barneys Las Vegas, and they expect to be in Colette Paris this spring.

And in response to customer requests, Le Labo has reformulated Labdanum 18 (formerly Ciste 18) to replace the natural civet with a cruelty-free synthetic substitute. The bottles now being sold are the new formula. Update: the new version of Labdanum 18 will be in stock tomorrow. If you're planning to order, you might want to call and make sure it has arrived.

According to the letter posted by Paschat on MUA, they're still working on new formulations. They write, 'These reworks are very precise and take months but our next order of fragrance will be natural civet free.' Am I wrong in my interpretation?

J, just went to look at her post. The email I got from Le Labo yesterday said “as of our orders as of now”, and I have sent an email back to clarify what that means — I assumed it meant the new formula is being sold now, but perhaps it meant the next time we order more fragrance it will not have real civet. Thanks for pointing that out!

I think that one is to open in the first quarter of the year, so you'd better hide them soon 🙂

Yaaaay! Indeed!! I wonder where the shop is going to be? Robertson? Montana Ave? I had heard that they weren't going into Barneys because they couldn't get the space for it.

Will they get all NoLiTa on LA and open someplace that's not so obvious? Larchmont Village? Hillhurst? Little Tokyo? Can't wait!

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE if they'd open the store in Silver Lake.

Have spent so little time in LA that I have no idea what either of you are talking about!

Silver Lake is this great community/neighborhood. Lots of great stores. They finally got an apothecary – it sells L'artisan's. I had the idea to open one of those a while ago, and wish I'd gone for it. Anyway, Silver Lake is a hip little place. Great food, interesting people, beautiful houses on the hillsides. Perfect for La Labo, IMHO.
