Gwen Stefani: next celebrity perfume?

Posted by Robin on 19 October 2006 22 Comments

Gwen Stefani LAMB logoGwen Stefani, the American rock singer who already has her own clothing label, L.A.M.B., is rumored to have signed a deal with Coty to launch her debut fragrance. (via cosmeticsint). The rumors aren't new; I had heard she would launch a fragrance under the L.A.M.B. label this fall.

I read in November InStyle that Lindsay Lohan is also doing one, but wouldn't elaborate because the deal is not sealed. Stop the madness!!

How about George W. and Condi emulating the Beckhams? (Without the hand-to-buttock feature, obviously.) Could call it 'Diplomatically'.

Isn't Kate Moss doing one? Did I ever tell you guys that as a cosmetic junkie, that this stuff is my morning coffee? =)

I've heard that too. Would be very surprised if she isn't going to…and still wondering what is up with Madonna? She is missing the boat here.

Yep, she is doing one for Topshop. Next year. Glad to hear this is almost as good as caffeine, LOL…

I make an exception for Gwen. Even better than Jennifer Lopez, who's really good at it, Gwen's been smart about making a buck off her fame, and the designs that bear her name have clearly been made with her input or at least in strict adherence to her aesthetic. Her clothing line has been lots of fun, her accessories are great, and she's always had her own idiosyncratic style and not a cookie-cutter one bought off the rack from a Hollywood stylist. So bring it on.

Never heard her music or seen her clothes, so can't cut her any slack myself but I'll take your word for it :-)

Gwen Stefani is beautiful, her style is flawless, her music is awesome! I have a hard time seeing what she would do – perfume wise – that would be better or different from all the others that are coming out. The question is, what would be her fragrance edge? Unless she can top everyone else, what's the point?

I agree with Tania, if anybody could pull of having thier own perfume it's Gwen. As long as she puts her trademark stamp on it it could be the end all, be all of celebrity scents. She's so stylish and fresh and she knows what she likes and what she doesn't. She should call it Fearless! And Madonna, I never thought of her not doing one yet, I wonder why she's not got one by now? I guess she is smarter than most?!

You know who's next? Homer Simpson, that's who. I have it on good authority that the fragrance will have a top note of powder sugar over an accord of hoagie, which will dry down to a nice comfy smell of couch. You know I am *so* there when it launches!

At this stage, the point must be that it looks odd if you *don't* do a fragrance — if Coty hasn't made you an offer yet, you must be a complete nobody.

LOL — perfect! Actually surprised there isn't already a HS fragrance. Even Spongebob has one! But I'll be in line right behind you…

Hey, Fearless is a great name. Unless it is another fruity floral, in which case it would backfire.

I bet Kevin Federline will come out with a fragrance next!!! It should be called BabyDaddy! Top notes will be new car smell mixed with his wife's other fragrances….. Oh brother…

I'm hoping that celebrities will come to their senses and realize that celebrity fragrances just don't do it for everyone! Especially me!

How about a little something from The Rolling Stones with a leather base and heavy on the smoke (that's cigarette) and maybe some sweat? LOL

When Coty starts scraping the bottom of the barrel that closely, I'm giving up on the subject of perfume entirely ;-)
