Paprika Brasil joins the Hermessence collection from Hermes

Posted by Robin on 10 October 2006 10 Comments

Hermes Paprika Brasil fragrance

Paprika Brasil joins the Hermessence collection of fragrances (Ambre Narguile, Osmanthe Yunnan, Poivre Samarcande, Rose Ikebana, Vetiver Tonka) at Hermès this month.

Like the others in the series, Paprika Brasil was created by Hermès house nose Jean Claude Ellena, and as previously reported, it was inspired by Tristes Tropiques by Claude Lévi-Strauss. Notes include pimento, clove, paprika, iris, green leaves, reseda, ember wood (aka Brazilwood or Pernambuco) and woody notes.

Paprika Brasil will be exclusive to Hermès boutiques. (via osmoz)

So…are you going to give it a test run, R? Somehow, I just can't get excited about this one. Maybe it's Hermessence overload or the paprika thing, but I'm just not jazzed this time around.

Gosh, do I sound like a fragrance scrooge, lol?

    Hugs!

Hey, if JCE made it, I'm gonna smell it! But have to admit, I'm not quite as jazzed up as I usually am, either. Paprika isn't my favorite note. Still, have heard at least one glowing report so I'm trying to be hopeful. Hugs back!

I, on the other hand, am frothing at the mouth to test this one. I'm a complete Hermessence ho, I am.

Another hopeless Hermessence ho, myself, I´m afraid…I have bought Paprika Brasil, it´s sort of strange, more feminine than the others, I would say…I don´t know yet if I´m going to use it as much as the other Hermessences, but at first I didn´t like Osmanthe Yunnan very much, and now I simply adore it! I think Paprika Brasil is a bit heavy on the iris side, and green and watery in a quite strange way. Well, ask me a few days later, so I can test it properly!!!!!My favourites of the line will be Ambre Narguilé and Rose Ikebana, though…

Hmmm..heavy on iris and green & watery sounds better than I expected, actually. Is it very, very spicy & peppery?

Yeah, actually it does sound better than I thought it would. I may have to re-think my position on this one, R. :)

    Hugs!

I would not define it exactly as very spicy, it´s not strictly an oriental perfume. It´s STRANGE
