New fragrances: Sira des Indes by Patou & special editions from Lolita Lempicka

Posted by Robin on 30 January 2006 20 Comments

Sira des Indes by Jean Patou will debut in France in March. The perfume:

... takes inspiration from India and its native flower champaca. The oriental foody scent notably contains banana accords, bergamot, pear, pink berries and cardamom as its top notes, a flowery heart, and base notes including musk, amber, vanilla and sandalwood. (via cosmeticnews)

Update: see a brief review of Sira des Indes.

Lolita Lempicka will launch three special holiday editions: for Valentine's Day, "Game of Love and Chance“, a gift with purchase featuring a puzzle with a key & heart; for Mother’s Day, the “One Thousand Secrets Mirror”, which converts to a stand for the Lolita Lempicka fragrance; and for Father's Day, the "Talisman Box”, with Eau de Toilette & Shower Gel. Aquolina Chocolovers perfume review

Posted by Robin on 28 January 2006 25 Comments

Aquolina Chocolovers Perfume BottleChocolovers is the second fragrance release from Aquolina, makers of the wildly popular Pink Sugar. As you can already guess from the name, they are not straying too far from their gourmand fan base. Chocolovers features notes of bergamot, orange, lemon, lily of the valley, coriander, hazelnut, vanilla, malt and musk.

A blast of sweet citrus in the opening settles fairly quickly, leaving behind only a hint of orange. The early dry down smells otherwise remarkably like the makings of a nutty chocolate malt just before you add the milk. It is very sweet, but be warned if you happen to be looking for a deep, rich chocolate perfume: the hazelnut and vanilla are as pronounced as the chocolate, and as with a real chocolate malt, the smell is closer to chocolate syrup than a dark chocolate truffle…

TJ Maxx fragrance report

Posted by Robin on 27 January 2006 2 Comments

It has been ages since I nosed around the perfume shelves at my local TJ Maxx. Like most TJ Maxx stores, they have recently moved the fragrances right up by the cash registers, presumably in order to discourage widescale opening & testing of the fragrances. It hasn't worked.

Here is what I found yesterday: Azzaro Pure Vetiver; Cacharel Promesse; Christian Dior Eau Sauvage deodorant spray; Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Intense Eau de Parfum, Red Door Revealed, and Spiced Green Tea body lotion; Elizabeth Taylor — just about all of them (Gardenia, White Diamonds, etc) and lots of gift sets; Escada Sentiment; Ghost Deep Night sets; Guerlain Shalimar Light; Jil Sander no. 4; J Lo Glow & Still shower gels; Liz Claiborne Spark Seduction; Molton Brown Air of Joy; Nautica Latitude Longitude; Oscar de la Renta So de la Renta; and Trussardi Skin. There were a few Pecksniff's products over in the bath & body section.
