New fragrances: Sira des Indes by Patou & special editions from Lolita Lempicka

Posted by Robin on 30 January 2006 20 Comments

Sira des Indes by Jean Patou will debut in France in March. The perfume:

... takes inspiration from India and its native flower champaca. The oriental foody scent notably contains banana accords, bergamot, pear, pink berries and cardamom as its top notes, a flowery heart, and base notes including musk, amber, vanilla and sandalwood. (via cosmeticnews)

Update: see a brief review of Sira des Indes.

Lolita Lempicka will launch three special holiday editions: for Valentine's Day, "Game of Love and Chance“, a gift with purchase featuring a puzzle with a key & heart; for Mother’s Day, the “One Thousand Secrets Mirror”, which converts to a stand for the Lolita Lempicka fragrance; and for Father's Day, the "Talisman Box”, with Eau de Toilette & Shower Gel. Sira des Indes has now just elbowed its way to near the top of my lemming list. Sounds like a great spring/summer scent.

Gosh, everything about that Patou is just wrong, including the 'banana accords'….so why am I so excited? Is it because it's Patou, or is it the 'Indes' in the name? I wonder what 'Sira' means?

Oh, the Patou! Okay, this is now my lemming. An excuse to go to France in March! I love Patou (I love my JOY) anyway, I am excited about this one, and I think the notes sound intriguing.

Hooray for a Patou in March, when I'll be winging my way to Paris! Banana and jasmine, sounds like J'adore?

Sira sounds great to me – love bergamot and throw almost anything on that base and I'll love it. I'm so easy.

I can't decide about the banana, all the rest sounds great to me…

As I said above, am worried about the banana. All else sounds good!

EnJoy also contains banana, green banana actually. Must be a favorite of Jean Patou's Jean Michel Duriez (a french article confirms that he is also behind Sira des Indes).

There's banana, and then there's BANANA, you know, that weird smell that the years of snapping bubblegum have train your synapses to fire BANANA when you smell it? BANANA and WATERMELON (all caps) are the olfactory equivalent to clowns and dolls for me – Scare-y! So the question is: which is it in the Indes?

    LOL!!!

Bannana & Watermelon are the two notes that terrify me as well. I got a cold shiver up my spine when I read the description for this one.

Think I'll stick with my favorite Patou “1000”.

Agree on the watermelon….in fact, IMHO many fruits should be banned from perfumery ;-)

For anyone who was wondering… Sira comes from “seera” is the name of an Indian dessert.
