Posted by Robin on 16 June 2006 30 Comments

Givenchy Ange ou Demon perfumeGivenchy will launch Ange ou Démon in August. The fragrance...

...targets a more mature woman than Very Irresistible. Firmenich’s Olivier Cresp and Jean-Pierre Bethouart created the oriental floral. The top notes are fresh with essence of white thyme, mandarin orange from Calabria and essence of saffron. The middle note mixes maxillaria orchid, lily and ylang ylang, while the base note is made of tonka bean, vanilla, rosewood and oak wood absolute. (via cosmeticnews)

Ange ou Demon is an Eau de Parfum, and is available in 50 and 100 ml bottles and in matching body products.

Viktor & Rolf Antidote fragrance for menViktor & Rolf will launch Antidote, a fragrance for men, this September:

The juice, by Alienor Massenet and Pierre Wargnye of International Flavors & Fragrances, is a rich, woody oriental. Top notes are of mint leaves, Italian bergamot, mandarin orange, essence of grapefruit and essence of Guatemalan cardamom; the heart is of sambac jasmine absolute, essence of French lavender, essence of African geranium, essence of nutmeg, cinnamon bark extract, freesia, orange blossom and violet, and the drydown is of amber, essence of Indonesian patchouli, cistus labdanum absolute vanilla, iris, sandalwood, Texan white cedar, essence of guaiacum wood, tree moss, leather, white musk and tonka bean. (via Women's Wear Daily)

On the name, Antidote, note that Viktor & Rolf have more than once called fashion an "antidote to reality", and they called Flowerbomb "an antidote to the reality against which we have only one weapon: dreams". (see L'Oreal website) Antidote is an Eau de Toilette.

Sisley Soir de Lune perfumeSisley will debut Soir de Lune this August. Soir de Lune features...

...top notes of bergamot, mandarin, lemon, coriander, nutmeg and capsicum pepper oils. At the blend's heart are notes of May rose centifolia and mimosa flower absolute, jasmine, lily of the valley, iris and peach. Woody moss, musk, honey, sandalwood and Indonesian patchouli notes are featured in the drydown. (via Women's Wear Daily)

    Can't wait for these three…

Givenchy's would be a perfect gift for my best friend…(The one of the Poison anecdote…)

Victor & Rolf's juice sounds nice, and although I am not a big fan of Vanilla Burberry's Brit made me change my mind….It can be good if done properly.

Sysley's eau de soir is a classic (although not one of my favorites I prefer Eau de Campagne…or as my bf likes to call it..”Eau de Money”, because it smells of the rich and costs an eye of the face 😉 )

Soir de Lune sounds more than interesting… I am really exited about all of these! 🙂

All 3 sound good…especially hopeful for the Sisley. I like that they have so few fragrances instead of 2 major launches & 2 flankers every year…

Eeee! Pretty excited for the Givenchy – I think the name stems from Ungaro's collection of the same name that he made for them a while back? I hope this is a steering back in the direction of the fine complex scents they used to make.

I'm most excited for Soir de Lune only because I wore Sisley Eau de Soir exclusively before discovering this online fragrance community.

It is a great name & concept, and I'll bet it will be a big seller unless it is truly awful.

Clueless here, K, I didn't even know Ungaro designed for Givenchy. But 2nd the wish for a fine complex scent!

the name means angel or devil or seductress. Nordstrom has started sampling in anticipation of the mid august launch. It is an amazing scent…..just beautiful.

I did not love it on first sniff, but will certainly give it another try. The bottle is pretty, at any rate!

At first, Ange Ou Demon gives off a delightful aroma. However, with my body chemistry it went awry after only an hour or so. It was still quite strong throughout the day and by the time I got home in the evening I wanted scrub myself thoroughly to get the scent off of me. Everytime I got a whiff of the scent, I thought my 83 year old mother was in the car with me. (Barb douses herself with White Diamonds or Passion both by Liz Taylor). Not a bad thing, just not the scent for me.

I don't know why this new scent took me back to the 90's but it did.

Sorry for the late reply…but actually can't add much, as I have a sample of the Givenchy but haven't tried it on skin yet. Haven't heard any glowing reviews, for that matter…

I'm wearing the sample of Ange au Demon right now. Hmm… Its not a bad fragrance, but its not that great either.. I would definitely describe it as a 'moody' fragrance. Something to wear when you are in a mood for something dark and quiet.. (sorry, can't really explain it.) Not an everyday fragrance and its definitely something I smelled back in the early 90's.

Wait… I've been wearing this sample for about 1 hour now. I don't like it. I had to wash this off in the bathroom at work!!!! The dry down of this made me nauseous! Not a good thing.

I love Ange ou Demon. It is my latest favorite. It smells dark and dangerous yet like high altitude high oxygen air- smells the way that chandelier looks but with a masquerade ball around the corner. I love it. Thank God most other women don't like it. I enjoy standing out in the crowd!

I just swaped a bottle of daisy(that I unfortunaely couldn't stand anymore) for a bottle of ange ou demon!
At the moment I am liking it, it' quite diferentof everything I own, a little darker… and for that reason it will probably come in hand when not in the mood for the rest of my collection!
And it's also a good thing(at least for me) that tons of ppl didn't like it!
Even though I like it I have to said that it smell kinda like grape kool aid and mentol! (not necessarily a bad thing)

Glad you found something that fit in your collection! It doesn't seem to be a huge hit here but it must be selling since they didn't discontinue it.

I don't think i'ts a huge hit in brazil either, it's kinda a love and hate perfume in here! most part of ppl hating!

Or maybe the fans are hiding, maybe I should hide myself for liking this one 😉

Can I ask you something Robin? What is your (sincere) opinion about Amarige? (this is another fragrance that i don1 see many rviews or ppl talking about)

Thank you so much and HAPPY 2009 🙂

    Many Thanks

To be honest I haven't even tried Amarige in years — last I did, it was just too strong for me.

A happy 2009 to you as well!

oh I remember soir de lune ‘s launch, Harvey Nichols made a great big deal of it. I’m not sure if they still sell it. and it’s expensive.

not too keen on Antidote, it’s a bit too spicy and oriental for me.

and Ange ou Demon, if I remember correctly is a bit bland.

Can somebody write a review of this perfume(EDP)? I like it, but not quite sure whether I should buy it or not. Want some other opinions.

I was not a big fan, and probably won’t review it, sorry! There are almost certainly lots of reviews at MakeupAlley.
