Friday scent of the day 9/4

Posted by Robin on 4 September 2026 19 Comments

It's Friday and National Wildlife Day. Birthdays: Mary Renault, Richard Wright, Beyoncé. RIP Gloria Steinem.  Our community project for today: wear a fragrance that celebrates how there is never enough time to do everything you ought to do! This project might end up being so wonderful that we do it twice!

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I've been commando since last Thursday...not enough time for perfume at the moment.

Reminder: there will be a community project next Friday! Possibly this week's project will be so fantastic we'll do it twice...stay tuned!

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2026, where I'll occasionally manage to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Hey everyone, my mom is home with hospice and probably has a few days left to go. My sister is here and we are keeping her as comfortable as we can. I may or may not post a poll this weekend but you can continue to comment here if I don’t, and I so appreciate all the notes of sympathy people have left already but please do not feel obliged…I have done no more than glance at comments and probably won’t catch up for another week.

Very sorry to hear this, Robin. We will miss you, of course, but please don’t rush back – take your time to do what you need to do – & we look forward to hearing from you when it’s feasible for you to do so. You will be in my thoughts.

Robin, I’m sending you and your sister and family my deepest sympathy. I have just been through what you are going through now and I was so grateful to the hospice personnel for their help and advice. It’s a difficult experience, yet hospice people, plus Mom’s many caregivers, helped me through it and made things very peaceful for my mother in her passing, which happened on Tuesday this week. Everyone is different, of course, and yet this is such a big experience that it helps to have loving people around you. I know for me it is going to take a long time to begin to understand this loss. I am still feeling as if I’m moving under water or something. Much love to you.

SOTD was nothing, until I remembered there was a roller ball of Pacifica California Star Jasmine in my desk drawer. It is lovely slightly sweet white flowers and citrus. I miss when Pacifica did their cheap and cheerful scents.

I wore Au Couer du Desert for the concert. Orgy was absolute garbage, couldn’t hear any of the singing. The Hu was great. I think that there was some kind of balance issue. Mongolian throat singing is deep and had a hard time hearing the singing with over the instruments. Holy crap, Marilyn Manson was phenomenal. I found that Rob Zombie was just a little too much. Four bands at a concert was just way too much for my dad and I, we do Better with just 2 bands playing.

Had a dentist appointment yesterday and was commando for the day. Today is BDK Gris Charnel. I am still without power from last night’s storm and this morning’s storm and we started up the generator and hoping to get power back by 6.

Sending hugs to you and your family, Robin. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

SOTD is Eau des Merveilles, that was put on before the CP came out, because I had an early appointment for some regular maintenance to my vehicle.

Freshly showered and wearing one of my favorite body care/perfume pairings for another hot day. Topped off at 94F yesterday, and supposed to be even hotter today…🥵

So, BBW Ginger and Orange body cream with copious amounts of Ninfeo Mio over the top. Very refreshing! Happy weekend to all✌️

Fresh strawberries and a Happy Labor Day American friends, in advance because I am leaving for Provence Tuesday morning and anticipate that I won’t be able to comment after tonight. This morning, AA Lavande velours, very pleasant with some floral sweetness, rather leaning feminine, and I realized I haven’t worn my AA’s very much at all this summer. Tonight it’s vintage Obsession for men which I always favored slightly over its feminine counterpart, honestly it’s one of the most beautiful myrrh perfumes I own.

Still feeling the post-vacation blues, but I got back on the horse this morning and I’m feeling better! 🐎
Looking back on my vacation now that today I am not super jet lagged, the Alps really were as gorgeous as I imagined, and the Bernina Express was an amazing experience. I think I would have skipped Lake Como and stayed longer in St. Moritz!
Wearing Melograno today, it’s been my scent all summer (except when I was on vacation), and I’m already more than halfway through the bottle! Can you believe?
