It's Tuesday and World Chocolate Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I am home from vacation, drinking a cup of Cascadia Breakfast tea and wearing Love, Chloé from a very old sample.
Reminder: on 7/10, wear a perfume with a lime note, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2026, where I'll occasionally manage to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Teabag Teapot ("Simply insert the string of your teabag onto the silicon to hold your teabag in place. When done infusing, pull the string to lift the teabag from the water") in Lime is $30 at ForLife.
Hello.
Sotd is Xerjoff Gibeon. She is beeeeautiful! Powdery floral bomb that is timeless, classy and very elegant. If Chanel Comete is a shooting star then Gibeon is a meteor shower. Me thinks it’s bub worthy.
You bet I’ll be celebrating Chocolate day! I also want to introduce a really good chocolate brand to anyone interested. The name is Läderach and it’s from Switzerland. Their chocolates are absolutely divine!
I had a half a bar (too much!) of Loon Dried Cherry just now 🙂
SOTD Lolita Lempicka Elle L’Aime–lime soda and coconut with vanilla ylang, and jasmine. It may be a tad too sweet for Miami summer, but I forget how much fund this is.
It’s a great scent!
Good morning. I am wearing Sisley Soir de Lune today and drinking a cup of English Breakfast tea
Classic all around, Barqs!
In Cristalle edt this morning. Am bumbling my way through, having messed up the coffee making after spotting the neighborhood bunny back to feast on my plants, and being sufficiently distracted as to run outside to sprinkle more rabbit repellent everywhere. Mr. G’s suggested solution is for us to move to a 28th-floor condo on the theory that bunnies don’t generally jump that high. While that is undoubtedly true, I don’t think I like that idea. The HOA alone would be detrimental to my mental health!
Does rabbit repellent work? I need to sprinkle my entire yard with deer repellent, ack. I don’t even mind the deer and rabbits eating everything — they can have it — I just want fewer tick carriers in my yard.
Yes, it seems to. It’s made with (among other things) animal blood, so vegans might disapprove. The brand is Plantskydd, it’s crystals that get sprinkled around vulnerable plants, it acts as a fertilizer for (I assume) non-food plants, and my tub of it says it works on deer too. Worth a try, imho, unless the blood aspect is a no-go for you. It has nearly no smell, as far as I’ve noticed.
Sounds better than using mountain lion urine, though.
And easier to obtain, I should think.
It is commercially available. My former in-laws used it when they lived in Maryland.
Oh, very interesting. Thank you!
Good morning, everyone! Happy Tuesday.
I’ve been wearing Boucheron Pour Homme all weekend – vintage EdT, current EdT, current EdP. The vintage stuff is extra special, but, (surprise surprise,) the current versions are really good, too.
Pour Homme isn’t quite as delightful as Boucheron’s Jaipur Pour Homme, but I’m very happy to have it in my collection. I think it’s more interesting than the current Eau Sauvage. (I’ve never smelled vintage Eau Sauvage, unfortunately.)
As an elegant, citrusy, mossy, herbal, gentle floral, in a traditional “gentlemanly” style, Pour Homme is hard to beat. And, my goodness, it’s affordable!
You smell great, Daniel!! I love your exploration of all the vintages.
Ah, my Dad wore this!
Hi, Daniel. Boucheron *Jaipur* anything is amazing. I have always been very fond of Boucheron Jaipur fragrances for both men and women.
Clearly I need to get my nose on the Jaipur For Women! Jaipur Pour Homme is a masterpiece.😊
Yesterday was Capsule Covey, probably the most limey fragrance I have. Today is ELdO Fils de Dieu, the perfect comfort fragrance for a cloudy morning. And turns out it has a lime note. I haven’t noticed it before but will give it a good sniff today.
Now I’m awash in lime. What was I thinking/smelling, missing all this lime before?!
Funny how that works, isn’t it? Just tell me that a fragrance has a certain note that I’d not noticed before and then that’s all I can smell. The power of suggestion…
Aha! Fils de Dieu is something I have in The Sample Stash. But it might be too hot here on Friday for that.
Hmm, I’m not in love with lime notes in perfumery (though I love them in food, Key Lime Pie anyone?) but I see that it’s in a lot of fragrances I’ve owned or tried. I sold my Theorema Eau Leggere because I found the lime note discordant in one of my fave perfumes. (The original Theorema and its flanker Esprit d’Ete were keepers.) For the sweet side of the lime, I think Creed’s Virgin Island Water captures the tropical cocktail vibe perfectly but I don’t have any ATM. I am planning to decant a bit of Chanel No 19 vintage cologne for another NSTer later today so that will be my SOTD, and I will pretend that this very green fragrance has a lime note.
Actually, I wonder if lime was a common ingredient in classical perfumery but I think not, except perhaps for a few classic men’s colognes like Royal Lyme of Bermuda and perhaps some Penhaligons and such.
So for the CP, I may veer into verbena, vetiver, and other green notes this week, which to me are lime-adjacent, or at least near to the more austere green versions of lime.
Happy Tuesday everyone!
Oh, that’s good to know, because I was wondering if I had anything with a lime note, and I do have it (Fils de Dieu). It’s always good on a hot day too.
Hey, lime-adjacent is plenty enough if you don’t like lime.
Hi all. I am CP-compliant in Milano Fragranze Piazza Affari, but the scent is not to my taste. This sample will be given away.
Sunday night was terrifying. This time, Kyiv was not the only target – a town between Kyiv and my hometown was attacked. The explosions sounded very near; we lost running water briefly, for a few hours, and power for about 12 hours. And the morning news was devastating: people in that town were told not to go outside, the air quality was dangerously low, some families had to be evacuated, roads between the towns were blocked… Death, injuries, demolished streets.
I slept all day, woke up in the evening, cried, went for a walk, and only then became more or less myself again.
I’m so sorry for that terrible news and bad experiences. It’s just so much that you are (all) having to deal with. I don’t know how you can cope at all.
I’m so sorry for your terrifying night and for the shattered peace and in your nearby town. Sending you a big hug
I a so sorry–I can’t imagine how terrifying that would be. I am thinking of you and your country.
I’m so sorry for so many things, Glannys.
I’ve been thinking of you Glannys. Keep safe.
Oh Glannys, like apsara, I’m so sorry for so many things. I think of you often.
Glannys, no one here can know what you are going through, we can only imagine and empathize and feel so sad for you and all Ukraine. For myself, I also feel a great rage at the global bully and wish him a timely demise.
Glannys, I’m at a loss for words, but wanted you to know I’m thinking of you and your country.
Glannys, I’m so sorry! 😟 It’s inadequate, I know, but there are no words to describe suffering through this kind of human brutality.
Ugh! I hope you’re feeling “better” although that is relatives.
I feel so bad for you. I don’t know how you do it day in and day out.
Damnit. It’s unspeakable, what the people of Ukraine have endured.
My goodness, I missed that entirely by skipping the news today. I would think all of this was unendurable but you have endured it.
Sad to see the USA out. I’ll be cheering for Morocco or Norway now. I am like those commercials that change their team shirt and reveal a new team shirt underneath.
Sticking with chamomile and mint tea for now. I made a double espresso latte this morning, and shortly after I felt like my heart was in my throat 💚 eeeekkk
As I am re-reading Bel Canto, I am wondering why I am re-reading. I am not liking this book the second time around. What is wrong with me or the book. Maybe I was in a different head space when it came out years ago…
It’s funny, I never liked Abel Canto either. It’s one of those novels that everyone raved about so I thought I was ‘doing it wrong’ and tried rereading several times.
agreed!
Have you watched the movie? Renee Fleming does the vocals for Julliane Moore.
No, I didn’t know there was one. Thanks.
I will go for Norway too since I am about 3/4 Norwegian.
Oh wow, Morocco is still in??
It’s cold here and I’m holding a mug of coffee just to keep my hands warm. We had floods at the weekend but now everything is just soaked and drizzly. One of the things I loved about living in Germany was the central heating, which ran 24 hours per day. Here, heating the house at night is regarded as profligate, and heating more than the room you’re sitting in is extravagant. So, the house is always freezing when I get up. Hence the joy of a warm drink. Wearing JM FrenchLime Blossom for a swerve on the CP. Three hours till sunrise….come on sun!
Come on sun! Mostly to keep you warm
Twins today in JM.
Ha, I think I know that feeling of just toughing out the weather with little heating and a/c. But sometimes we cave in and just turn the dial because we can’t stand it anymore.
Well waddaya know, I can wear linden scents and feel right on target for this week’s cp as lime trees = linden in Europe & the UK. With this expanded definition, I’m good for the week, I think. I don’t have the Jo Malone, which is beautiful (gave some to my sister once, who loved it) but I do have a French one that I need to dust off. Thank you Kanuka.
Something tells me I will be a little envious of your cold temperatures later on this week.
Huh. Did some googling. Never knew central heating was uncommon in NZ but now I know…
Is this true even in newer construction, that there would be little or no insulation and no central heating?
I have actually never lived without central heating, and that includes all the places I lived in and around San Diego.
I only have one perfume that I have been able to confirm contains lime, and that is Lush 25:43. I think I will save that one for Friday. I do have a bottle of Yves Roches Mandarine which, along with tangerine and mandarin, lists “citruses” among the notes. I am guessing that might include lime. Lemon and orange are far more well represented in my collection. I could be creative and interpret “lime” as linden. I do have a few of those, but I only use them at bedtime, as linden is one note that invariably makes me sleepy. Today I am in Caswell-Masset Lavender (original) from the collection of mini EdCs I bought recently. This one definitely has a few other notes besides lavender; it reads sweeter and warmer than straight lavender, and I find it to be very nice.
Huge thanks, I have several but also forgot about 25:43!
Hello from California! Getting to California was a pain. Had one guy that smelled like he just rolled out of bed and hasn’t brushed his teeth in days. What made things worse is that he had to spread out and I had no space. The second leg of my trip was had someone really big next to me. We are all crammed in there like sardines and I forgot about how middle seats can suck but it is what I get for the Southwest basic economy.
Spending my day in no 19 and getting used to the time change.
Welcome to California 🌞
Enjoy!
Sorry you were crammed in like sardines and feh to bad-odored fellas in very tight indoor spaces. Very inconsiderate.
But at least you are here. Enjoy California!
Ugh, manspreaders in airplane seats are The Worst!
Flying used to be so lovely, now it is so horrid! Sorry Dawn, hope the rest of the trip is wonderful.
Good morning all. I’m all set this week because I have a plethora of perfumes with a lime note. I even wore some over the weekend (PdE Corsica Furiosa and Lush 25:43)!
Today I’m in a nostalgic summer favorite, B&BW Coconut Lime Verbena. I found a bottle of the Purely Silk body splash on eBay about 5 years ago and am really glad to have this scent again. I’ve also considered finding a bottle of Mango Mandarin. That’s another fruit, summery one of theirs I wore in the early 2000s.
Yesterday I worked at the office instead of at home and kept things low key with 4711 Acqua Colonia Lime & Nutmeg. It was a hot day so cologne was perfect.
Oh, and I meant to say I have a haircut scheduled this afternoon and am looking forward to skipping out on work a bit early. Plus the great feeling of getting shampooed in the salon…
There’s a Tuesday farmer’s market in my neighborhood so I think I’ll walk over and buy a bouquet of flowers after my haircut. I was given flowers at work last week and just tossed out the last of those. It was so lovely having a bouquet that I immediately want another.
Treat yourself!
Yay for the haircut!
According to Parfumo, vintage Jones New York edp has lime, though I can’t detect it. One of those well-blended 90s fragrances that I didn’t appreciate at the time. It’s refreshing in this heat!
That is an oldie! Glad it is still good.
Supermarket blueberry smoothie, on promotion again, with that and the delicious and local (from Kent next door) and cheap strawberries I am abandoning home-made smoothies which are definitely more expensive.
Un Jardin en Méditerranée this morning on a warm 28C day, I find it such a unique, minty fig and tonight TF Champaca Absolute which I will have to confess to Donatella, it’s an old friend I got to know through a decant,. as ever delicious and very potent.
Smelling wonderful, Aurora, I should wear that one more often.
So glad you love it too.
I can’t wait to see the deal you got on the TF!
😀, not too expensive but not crazy cheap and got some 10ml travel sprays of other discontinued TF, all will be revealed.
Ooooooh, I am sure you have added more Perfume Unicorns to the stable. 😉
IIRC, Un Jardin en Med was my favorite from all the Jardins I have tried.
It is a tie with Sur le Nil for me and they’re both perfect for hot weather.
I’m reminding myself that we’re past the solstice and days will get longer – it’s so dark and dull today. I’m wearing another warming amber, Thameen Amber Room.
Sending you some of our sun, Gaynor!
Still commando after a doctor’s appointment this morning, I think I will join Aurora in Un Jardin en Méditerranée, that woodsy fig sounds appealing.
I hope your appointment went well.
Hope your appointment was routine and NBD.
It’s a beautiful day here. My daughter and I went and visited my sister and her family. My niece just found out she is expecting again. We are happy for her, but I also feel nervous. She’s 42 and I am a worry wart.
I’m wearing EL Tuberose Gardenia. It’s lovely for today.
Maybe lots of vitamins for your niece and close supervision of her blood pressure… etc, I bet it will be ok.
Thank you Aurora
🤞
Yay for a beautiful day! You smell very elegant, lillyjo.
I really do! Thanks!
Hooray for your niece!
Thanks!
Congratulations to your niece!
Thank you!
Love your scent today!
Thanks!
ZOMG, congratulations to you and your niece! Crossing fingers for you all.
Thanks!
Hello hello! I’m back from a family vacation to Malaysia and Singapore. We had a fabulous time despite the oppressive heat and humidity. It meant a little less sightseeing but I enjoyed the slower pace and there was plenty of time to eat a lot of delicious things.
None of the light-ish scents I brought on my trip were a match for the weather, it all became undetectable soon after spraying. A pleasant surprise on my trip is recognizing some lovely scents in public. I sniffed some vintage ones like Safari and L’Air du Temps. And most surprising were heavier scents like Angel and Guidance, they actually seem to work well in the tropics, to my nose.
I’m wearing Rauque today and going to figure out what lime scents I might wear the rest of the week.
Welcome back! I’m glad you had a great vacation.
Hiya tulipani! I can confirm that TM Angel smells wonderful in epic heat and humidity. I tried it once in a scorching NJ summer, with 95 degrees and 95 percent humidity.
A very busy couple of nights post holiday as per usual. Had to double up rooms again…😒 Off for a couple days now and slept like a rock today!
Currently wearing AG Nifeo Mio because I could have sworn it had lime in it, but nope, it doesn’t. Too late now. 🙃
All these rescues in Venezuela, even so long after the earthquake, got me crying like a four year old. To see such good, selfless people saving lives of all kinds *almost* renews my faith in humanity…
I don’t know what we would do without the selfless people of the world.
Ninfeo Mio smells great, regardless.
I can’t believe that rescuers in Venezuela have had to dig people out by hand. No gas or diesel for the heavy equipment. That’s effed up.
SOTD = Opula Dulce Solis Violet
Wonderful! I haven’t worn this in AGES and I missed it so. No sign of lime …
In other news, here’s a Wall Street Journal article on compromises people take when your significant other has … pets!

I don’t think I could do the allergy shots for anyone.
I *had* to have allergy shots as a kid. Wasn’t a fan of them in the slightest. Fortunately, my Mom knew she could bribe me with a roll of Lifesavers after the shot.
I used to have some fragrances with lime but no longer. This week will be whatever I grab. Today it was Dusita Splendiris with BBW Butterfly body wash and lotion.
I used to have Coconut Lime Verbena from bbw. I don’t think I have a perfume with Lime, but will double check.
Posting late again. Seems to be quite the habit with me lately. I can’t think of any perfumes I have with lime. I will have to do a deep dive later on to see if that’s truly the case.
Not as hot today, but there have been ominous clouds looming since about 2 this afternoon. Running my air purifier again, but at least it’s on the lowest setting now.
SOTD = commando. Wearing British Rose body yogurt in the usual spots, though.
We are rose twins tonight. I just put on Givenchy eau de Mademoiselle. I think its rose is similar to British Rose.
Hiya twin!
Eau de Rochas or Chanel No 5 l’Eau have lime.
Thank you Aurora! I have No. 5 L’Eau, so your comment was most helpful.
