Yesterday was not an exciting day, but it was not crazy hot and I did finally trim the bush that was blocking the light from my dining room window, then I went to a perfect yoga class, then I came home and watched the final episode of the latest season of The Great American Baking Show. For quiet happiness, I'm in Astier de Villatte Grand Chalet.

Wore Hanbury in the morning (a very happy, sunny scent) but later switched to Lune Feline for International Cat Day. Cats = Happiness.

Glannys, I didn’t know either scent so I looked them up. Hanbury is also a place to visit! I put the fragrance on my try list, and the Villa’s gardens on my explore list. Lune Féline sounds intriguing. When I thought about it, we have all those names for full moons, it seems a shame that there isn’t one for cats!
Hanbury is lovely. I used up my bottle a while ago and didn’t get more, but you inspire me. Maybe I can find a travel size somewhere.
I don’t usually layer scents but today I’m wearing a CSP pairing that always makes me happy: the vivid, slightly cartoonish Vanille Banane, toned down by the genteel Vanille Abricot.
Perfect. I almost did Banana today.

Going to wear Paris-Deauville – a happy scent for me, for sure. Happy because my husband sent me beautiful flowers for my birthday (he was out of town). And because the fall sports season is starting up, my happy place these days is on a sideline with my cameras.

Thanks to all for the birthday wishes. We had dinner with 21 yo son last Friday in Cleveland and tonight he was home, dinner with his childhood best friend’s family; football camp starts Tuesday so he won’t be home until thanksgiving. Grateful to have a few days with him; I know they are fleeting at this point.

This week’s CP made me more aware of the things that I should feel grateful for. One such thing that struck me while I was cooking for my mum one day (she had a few dental bone grafts done so she was in constant pain and also needed a soft diet) was that I should feel lucky both my parents are still with me and are relatively healthy.

As my yoga teacher always says. Be grateful not only for what you have, but also for what you’ve missed. You are fortunate to still have both your parents. An only child, I lost my dad at 14 and my mom at 25.
Wow! That is young for both parents. I am an only child too Laila, but I lost my dad when I was 36 and my mother just a few years ago so I was much older when she died.

I’m blissfully happy in Bronze Goddess. It makes me think of the beach, The Beach Boys, grilling out, ice cold watermelon and all the best things of summer.
My happy thing is that I have made two delicious dinners with our garden vegetables that we both loved and had enough leftovers for lunches, always a win.

For CP Friday, I thought about wearing the scent that makes me happiest but realized that’s impossible — too much depends on mood and weather and various other things, and they all make me happy anyway. So I chose what felt right this morning, the soft, calm, tiny purple flowers in Bucoliques de Provence. I think the label design is perfect too.
How did I not know about this fragrance with lavender and iris? You must smell divine!

I’m in “Music For A While,” from Frederick Malle. (The name goes right over my head – I must be missing something.) From what I hear/read, it’s a polarizing one from the house, but I love it. It’s a sort of modern fougère, with a not-too-sugary pineapple note, laced with lavender, a little vanilla, and patchouli. Sounds strange, I know, but it works. Even more remarkable, my hard-to-please (fragrance wise) girlfriend LOVES it on me, so I can spray it with abandon.

Pineapple and patchouli are surprisingly compatible together.
This was another scent I had to read up on today, but it’s contrast sound quite intriguing Daniel. Isn’t it heavenly when someone you love nestles into your neck and deeply inhales your scent then exhales with total pleasure? Keep spraying with abandon my friend!

I’m happy today for in just a few minutes we’re on our way to the annual White Oak Folkfest 🎶 in Dodgeville WI. The music + community spirit = ☮️ & happiness. And the beautiful savanna setting, complete with organic farm and a restored antique barn set on the gently rolling hills of the driftless area of sw WI, in and of itself say ☮️ and happiness.
My favorite summer color is coral and my wardrobe reflects it. Wearing this color in summer makes me feel bright and alive, and happy! To complement this, and for today’s cp, I’m wearing Omnia Coral by one of my favorite perfumers, Alberto Morillas. I love the berries, pomegranate and hibiscus in this; it’s called ‘an optimistic color and composition,’ and I would agree!❤️

You smell Summery-happy – I blind-bought Coral at Vintage Vogue and it won me over. I bought a coral polo shirt this Summer and it really is a cheerful color. In fact, I am wearing it now, ha!

The thing that brings me the most joy these days IS my cat Mici. Every time I start a Yoga with Adriene video, he immediately hops onto the mat and stays close to me. Sometimes I have to move him to do certain poses (he loves center stage 🤣).
The other day, during savasana, he climbed onto my chest and just stayed there until the end.
I love him so much ❤️ (and my other cat, Duli, who isn’t a fan of home workouts).

I am in Guerlain AA Pamplelune today, which always makes me happy. I have slammed through quite a few bottles of it over the years, never tire of it, and always keep a back up bottle on hand.

This morning I stopped into my local cafe to grab a coffee and met a friendly Pembroke corgi with the most perfect and perfectly Ginormous ears. Corgi encounters are one of the true keys to happiness IMO.

It’s always a cat day of some kind here! Today’s perfume happiness is from another $20 bargain buy, Fath’s Essentials L’Orée du Bois. I don’t know why these are not more popular; L’Orée du Bois was composed by Luca Maffei and is a lovely mimosa/wood scent.
I agree about L’Orée du Bois and other Fath fragrances that are so good and SO cheap!
My happiness started out with horseback riding this morning. I was able to ride my favorite horse, he was being a bit naughty and I still had to pay my carrot tax!
I saw Fragrantica’s post about Shalimar L’Essence and… I’m worried it’s just MVP again..The Shalimar bottle, has some weird dollar-store lettering that makes it look like it’s trying to be hip for its 100th birthday party.
Sharing a beauty secret; good face exfoliate by L’Oréal: bright reveal. (not affiliated) I have sensitive skin and having been using and this is really great and doesn’t break the bank. I need to pay more attention to drug store brands 🙂

Hi JB! Did you have any luck finding a perfume similar to Florist’s Fridge? I miss that perfume ( and Yard Next Door, and Artists Studio). I saw that Demeter makes Flower Shop and Ellis Brooklyn makes Florist. I haven’t tried them. SL Vierge de Fer had that cold floral aspect of Florist’s Fridge but it may have been discontinued ( and was more lily-centred). The other perfume I do know that has a spring bulb aspect is EL Pleasures, which is cheap, at least. Keep warm over there! Not long till September.

I finally got the approval from my landlord yesterday to keep the kitten I found on the street a couple of weeks ago. That is also a reason to be happy. My five year old twin nieces have named him Kito. They say it sounds cute. Not so sure about it, but that’s his name now. So welcome Kito to my life! 🐈

It’s the weekend and that always makes me happy! I’ve seen a few mentions of osmanthus recently, so my choice for today is Fort and Manle’s Meraki.
It’s a limited edition that I got almost by accident. I’d tried a sample and liked it, but I wasn’t prepared to pay the price. It was long gone, then it turned up on sale at Luckyscent – they must have found a stray bottle or two at the back of a cupboard.
I love an accidental sale. I found my bottle of TF Black Orchid for $38.00 at Ulta. It had been sitting there all alone and unmarked. I took it up for a price check and it was on super clearance. Sold!
Frozen mango and yogurt smoothie
I continued my lesser worn Guerlains by retrieving Chant d’Arômes from the cabinet and tonight to make me happy it’s bpal Sugar cookies and a popcorn garland, I have 14 or 15 of those little oil bottles but they take almost no space which makes me happy as well.

Love the taste of fresh mangoes, but removing the pit is such a PITA! I’ve seen the Champagne mangoes in the grocery stores here in the summer; they’re seasonal.
Probably I should seek a YouTube video on preparing mangoes. I just hack up them into random, as big as possible, bits. Then I shamelessly gnaw the goodie off the pit over the sink when no one is looking!

I’m very happy it’s Friday! I’ve had a strange week because I had to go into the office Tuesday through Thursday, and I usually just work from home. Of course, the two mornings it rained, I was doing my public transit commute. 😒 But now I’m on the other side of that and we’re having a beautiful day.
My office is scent-free so I didn’t wear perfumes until the evening those days. However, somebody who doesn’t work there but was visiting for a community program wore a perfume that smelled like Lost Cherry. I really didn’t mind that she didn’t get the scent-free memo hehe.
I’ve also waited a while to put on perfume today because I was anticipating my order from the Lush sale arriving. It just did a little bit ago so I’m in Mossy Bottom body spray. It does smell a lot like their Grass shower gel, but there’s something in the dry down that I don’t love. I may end up putting this one up for swap. Also, I’m not loving the scent of the Green Shower Elixir, but I’ll wait until I use it in the shower to fully judge.

I’m happy because today is the last day of my heat wave. I’ve been seeing evidence of the cold front moving in all afternoon, with clouds and winds aplenty. Tomorrow the temperature is supposed to drop by 10 degrees, and then Sunday is another 10 degree drop after that. 78 degrees is going to be a shock to the system after this week of hot, hot, hot!
Teflon kitty has had some extra treats to celebrate International Cat Day. So she’s on board! 😽

My new kitten worked on a great lead-in to Cat Day. First, he leapt upon his heavy scratching post and managed to knock it over and break his food dish. He topped that off a day or two later by smashing the glass diffuser in an unseen encounter with a vintage lamp! I know my cat love is deep when, upon seeing the mess, my first thought was for his safety. I will never use the word “smithereens” casually again. He was fine, and Ebay to the rescue: I found an exact replacement for this 50+ year old item! I forgot to note who said it earlier this week, but I agreed that perfume in general makes me happy! For the CP, SL Clair de Musc.

Vintage Dior Dune, always perfect no matter what is going on. Someone here once called it a freaky little perfume. But in a good way. 🙂 Going out to pick blueberries, take some trash to the dump, and then hubby and I will have dinner with a friend who has escalating MS, and is pretty disabled at this point. When I first met her, she was hail and hearty, but this is a heartbreaking disease, and she is in a mobile chair and has 24 hour attendants at this point. It impacted her physically, but she was able to keep working until just recently. When hubby talked to her yesterday, he said she seemed sort of confused and was not focusing really well. Another reminder that we all need to be doing the most important thing at every moment in time, because events may intervene before you have that chance to do what you really want to do!
My vintage collection makes me happy, so I was in Norell for most of the week. This would also fit the “perfumey” cp!
I want it to get a cat very badly, but I’ve been in DIY remodeling mode in my apartment, and I don’t think it’s a good time. There’s always a new project to work on! But when it’s time, I want to get an adult cat from a rescue. Just need to figure out where the litter box will go!
There are litterboxes available that look like planters and keep the “business end” enclosed. Good for people who are in small spaces.
