Tuesday scent of the day 5/20

Posted by Robin on 20 May 2025 118 Comments

It's Tuesday, Josephine Baker Day and World Bee Day. Happy 79th to Cher! What fragrance are you wearing?

I'm in Hermès Eau de Néroli Doré. Tea at the moment is (again) Jasmine Pearl Tea Company Cascadia Breakfast, with a splash of cream and a sprinkle of nutmeg.

Reminder: 5/23 is World Turtle Day...celebrate the occasion with your fragrance, in whatever way you see fit.

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2025, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Note: the turtle teapot from Novica appears to be sold out everywhere at the moment.

    Good Morning-
A little chilly this morning, but I don’t mind as I dislike when we go from winter to summer. Putting my spring clothes to use.

I am in Lune Féline and I am wanting a full bottle of this one.

According to Atelier des Ors website the notes were inspired by the moon-
Sea turtles, in particular, follow the moonlight to shore when they hatch, and females return under moonlit skies to lay their eggs, guided by ancient, invisible tides. So there is my connection for points!! LOL

I don’t want adult anime much but I am loving the last season of Blood of Zeus as I am fascinated with Greek Mythology. Almost finished my James Salter book and then on to something else!

oh and tea is a dirty chai as I try to recreate what my FIL makes. He left me some ginger and his homemade tea spice 🙂

I love it…warm, resinous, & spicy notes. Dark non-sweet intense vanilla.
        From the website:
Top Notes: Cinnamon, Cardamon, Pink Pepper
        Heart Notes: Cedarwood, Ambergris, Styrax
Base Notes: Tahitian Vanilla, Peru Balsam, Musk

I’m up way too early this morning because Mr. Ockeghem forgot that it was a three day weekend and we are starting the week on Tuesday, which means Ockeghem Teen does NOT have to be at school at 7:10 for her off-timetable class. (Said teen went back to sleep when I announced this; we are, sadly, up.)

Commando right now because I have to go in for a medical test today. Fortunately I’m just young enough that a much less invasive test is now being used for routine screening in place of a test with a horrible prep regime. Mr. Ockeghem is bitter as he started the old regime 5 years ago and apparently has to stay on that track, and will be going in next week.

Once I get back, I will likely try PdN Odalisque again. I tried the sample that came with Muguet yesterday, and liked it, though it didn’t seem to last long. Will try again today with more sprays. (Could also be that the nose hasn’t totally recovered from my bad cold a few weeks back.)

    Hello NST 🌸
Robin, you smell great. We are house twins – I am wearing Un Jardin sur le Nil. After I sprayed it I searched for some connection with the CP and of course I found it 😄 According to ChatGPT, “there are indeed some species of turtles found in the Nile River and other waterways in Egypt. These turtles are part of the local ecosystem and can be seen in some of the freshwater habitats throughout the country” 🐢
    Wishing everyone a lovely day!

    Hello.
    Sotd is Rouge Trafalgar.
World Bee Day, then I must spray some Bee later today to celebrate. I dislike pretty much all insects (yes, even Butterflies and Moths scare me when they get close) but bees I find adorable. I also thank them so much for honey.

    Good morning!

A crazy busy week ahead in the studio – I’m exhausted, and it’s only Tuesday. The work is actually kind of exciting, so I feel very fortunate.

And (more importantly) I’ve found a scent to wear to work: Geranium Pour Monsieur, from Frederic Malle. It’s just delightful – elegant, light, distinctive – and I always feel special wearing it. It doesn’t shout, so I’m pretty confident that it’s acceptable to others sharing a close space.

    Have a great day, everyone!

I am wearing Un Jardin en Méditerranée, which is one of my least favored Jardin scents. Generally the fig is less obvious on my skin, but today, in the East Texas heat and humidity it has bloomed, and fig is the only thing that I smell. Fig is not a fragrance that I enjoy. Oh well tomorrow will hopefully bring something better.

Good Morning NST. I’m totally flouting the CP (sorry turtles but my, Robin, that’s a gorgeous teapot, & what a soothing marine color) with two sprays of my ever-dwindling Lutens Fumerie Turque because Live Large, a philosophy of life that Cher has always embodied for me. Those head-dresses! I also enjoyed her acting in Moonstruck especially. Really I should have reached for her own first perfume, Cher Uninhibited from the 1980s, which is a va-va-voom updated Bal A Versailles, but the Lutens called out to me louder. Maybe tomorrow I’ll search for a marine and vetiver forward fragrance. Have a great day everyone.

    Hi, NST 👋
I chose Gabrielle Essence and then had to run an errand – it’s raining and chilly so my sotd isn’t cutting it. I’ll switch to something warm and resin-y later, maybe Lubin Idole.
My sweet kids are having our house professionally cleaned today as our anniversary present (it’s not until Sunday.) I am trying to stay out of the way. Larry the cat has already hissed at the cleaner for no reason, just wait till the vacuum starts up 🙄 He’s such a pill!

That’s a great teapot. Much better than the “turtle” I made in grade school, which looks more like a small and very uncomfortable ottoman. Like Kanuka I loved The Turtles back in their heyday — I even loved “Elenor” which Apple Music tells me the brats in the band wrote cynically after their label demanded another hit like Happy Together. I have to admit that Elenor does have pretty insipid lyrics (“Elenor, gee I think you’re swell …”). Eek. Anyway, I will be commando until after a dermo-doc appointment in a bit, and I don’t have any brilliant ideas for the CP yet.

Hospice care – depends on the facility that runs the program. My mom was in a rehab facility which was unfortunately so bad that we ended up hiring a CNA for 12 hours a day. The hospice care place did not want a CNA but we did see more frequent and reliable services.

I’m wearing Aedes de Venustas today. Bertie Wooster has a vet appointment tomorrow, so tonight I have to confine him to the shower stall in order to bring in a urine sample. Last time, Dapper opened both the bathroom door and the shower door so I will have to block his access. It was humbling to be outsmarted by a cat.

    Frozen cherries and yogurt smoothie

My mind is totally blank about what I sprayed this morning, obviously it was forgettable😀but tonight I’m in Prada l’Eau Ambrée, imo Daniela Andrier has a gift for citrus and mandarin in particular, like in Infusion de Mandarine the drydown has opoponax but l’EA is more floral and complex as there is also patchouli.

I like the teapot! Someone at my last place of business used to wear that Prada. Never knew if she marinated herself in it, or if it’s a BIG scent. Admit I’m only able to handle patch in homeopathic doses.

Thank you very much, it’s my every day teapot and the most dependable too, it’s the willow pattern, very popular here in the UK. There was too much sun in my living room, so it’s not a very good photo but I disliked the new gravatars, so I decided to take action😀. L’EA is moderate projection on me, although it lasts well, so I suspect your colleague was trigger happy with it.

Honestly, you can pick an identicon you like better and use that if you don’t want a photo! And that way it will never change again…although honestly I’m still mystified about why they changed at all.

            Here is an identicon generator:

It’s a very big scent on me, and I often get tired of it before it wears off as the longevity is quite good. But it’s very beautiful.

Crazy weather here lately. Two 90 degree days last week; now we have 3 or 4 days in a row with temps that barely reach 50 degrees + rain, with, of all things rare, a dust storm in Chicago in between!

SOTD is my favorite (and I don’t know why) for cool, rainy spring days like this, vintage Dior Dune. Almost done with this bottle but luckily I have another vintage BUB. ❤️ this one so much, never want to be w/o.

Finally got to see ‘Wicked’ at our library this afternoon – really enjoyed it👍. A quick supper of the ham and bean soup I made yesterday, then we’re off to our monthly Green Drinks (Go Green) get-together at our local Irish pub. Tonight’s topic is using the power from water for change with a speaker from Chicago’s water reclamation district.

Wishing everyone a nice night ahead!

I only wear it on chilly, rainy days, mostly in spring, but sometimes in fall. But never on a sunny day, I don’t know why.

Yes! My understanding is that this was only the second time in something like 80 years our general area had a dust storm warning and only the first time ever that the city of Chicago itself ever had a dust storm warning, and then it actually occurred.. It started on downstate farms and traveled north because of how dry it’s been this spring.

I had a day off today. I did some much needed house cleaning. My Son says ” is someone coming over?” Lol
My sotd is Zara Fleur Patchouli layered with BBW Gingham Gorgeous. This is a really good match because it brings out more Fleur and makes it smell more perfumey. I enjoy it by itself too.
Cold and rainy here and for the next few days.

Staring at my laptop screen thru a slight haze of cat hair. I was finally able to brush Teflon this afternoon, and got a few big clumps of fur out of the task. She’s going back to the vet later on this week to see if another week of the dreaded ear drops are in store.

Will have to ponder about what fits this week’s CP. No ideas so far.

SOTD = back in L’Eau de Chloe.
