Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit and happy May Day! Birthdays: Calamity Jane, Sterling Allen Brown, Joseph Heller, Terry Southern, Shirley Horn, Judy Collins, Wes Anderson. RIP Paul Auster. What fragrance are you wearing?
One one arm, I've got Carthusia Mediterraneo, the first fragrance I ever bought unsniffed, and (I think) the bottle I have replaced the most times. I might just wear it again tomorrow. On the other arm, vintage Diorissimo, because May Day.
Reminder: 5/2: is Our Lady Donatella Versace's 70th birthday. Wear the last fragrance you purchased, or anything that you think fits the occasion.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2025, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Versace hoodie (in children's and teen sizes) with "embroidered Biggie Bunny logo in a terry towelling design" is on markdown, about $174 at Children Salon.
Wearing the last perfume I purchased – Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt. I bought 10 ml in April, since I had finished my previous decant a few months earlier.
That’s a good one that I have always enjoyed.
Love that one, you smell great!
Hello.
Sotd is Miss Dior Originale. Great classic chypre.
Packing for my trip to Kuala Lumpur tomorrow. Will be there for a little over a week! I am hoping for lots of good food and shopping. I will be bringing only TFs since I have them in travel sprays (Lost Cherry, Bitter Peach, Oud Wood, F*ing Fabulous, Soleil Blanc) and they seem to cover a range of moods. Per my chat with Pyramus yesterday, I am definitely leaving space in my suitcase for potential purchases!
Have a great trip! And your travel scents sound perfect, esp. Oud Wood and F*ing Fabulous. I have a smidge of my Miss Dior Originale (frosted glass houndstooth bottle) but am opting for the original Jessica McClintock for my May day scent.
Have a great trip.
Have a wonderful time, safe travels.
What fun!! Eat something wonderful for me 🙂
Have a wonderful trip!
Safe travels.
Enjoy your travels! I have never been to Kuala Lumpur nor Malaysia so I will live vicariously through you.
Your trip sounds so exotic and wonderful! I still have some vintage Miss Dior, pre-Originale! A favorite for me in May.
Ooooooooooooh, your upcoming trip sounds amazing! Safe travels!
Hi all, SOTD is the original Jessica McClintock for my May day scent. I’m glad to say farewell to April, knee injury that needs PT, sinus infection, and Mr. SmokeyToes and I got food poisoning last week. Good riddance to April! 🙂
I am headed to downtown SF, and then on to work, everyone have a good day!
I am happy to say farewell to April as well.
May ‘May’ be good to you!
ZOMG, what a horrid April you had!
Wanted to let everyone know that I did hear from Deva. She and T-Rex did get to Minnesota and love it there. She hasn’t been posting because she hasn’t worn perfume for a few weeks. I’m sure she will be back on when she’s wearing perfume again😊
It is raining, which we need, but wasn’t planning on that weather so changed my mind on perfume choice today. I guess I will wear Shalimar MI.
Forgot the rabbits like usual 🤣
So glad for an update! You can’t go wrong with Shalimar-anything. 🙂
Thank you, Kris!
Deva, if you are reading this, we are glad to hear from you whether you are wearing a perfume or not.
Thanks for the update.
We are forgotten rabbit twins!
Thanks Kris and if you are reading Deva, we are glad for the update.
Thanks for checking in with Deva! And so glad to hear she’s loving MN.
Thanks for the update on Deva!
Thanks for the update on Deva! And your Shalimar MI smells so good!
Thanks for the Deva update, so glad all is well!
Thank you Kris! Also forgot my rabbits!
Thanks for the update on Deva! And here’s hoping we both keep getting much needed precip.
You smell wonderful – my iris are blooming this week, so I should wear SMI soon. Thanks for the Deva update!
Hi, Deva! (whispers: MVP)
Oh dang, forgot to 🐇 🐇 🐇. Currently commando for a haircut later this morning, but when I get back I’ll spray on some Eau d’Hadrien EDT to go with the gloriously sunny day we’re about to have. Technically that’s the last fragrance I bought (a BUB, because I’m afraid of it disappearing from the planet any day now), but what I will actually spray from is most likely my existing bottle. The BUB supposedly is arriving today, but I may not have patience enough to wait for the mail to get here. Lots to confess to Our Lady this time!
I remembered for once, and said all 3 rabbits 3 times, so you can have one of mine 🙂
Oh, thank you! 💕
I’ll be in the studio today, so I’ll be scentless. Dumb work getting in the way of my perfume wearing!
But as soon as I’m in the car on my way home, I’ll douse myself with something highly polarizing and diffusive. Take THAT, fellow workers with whom I share space.🙂
“Highly polarizing and diffusive” – The perfect description!
Ha, that’ll fix their wagons 🙂
You must post a second time today so we know what fits that tantalizing description Daniel!
Ha! Well, I’m not sure how polarizing it is on this site, but I chose “Le Lion” from Chanel. It’s intense stuff, and though it doesn’t announce itself like, say, Portrait of a Lady, it feels wonderfully “thick” in the air. I love this sensation, but I know not everyone does. Not a good choice for a small studio setting. But, needless to say, I loved my car ride home.😊
Yay for a wonderfully aromatic ride home from work! Best part of the day? 🤣😉
It was a stressful day at the studio, so the fragrant ride home was easily the best part of the day. Thank goodness for wonderfully aromatic journeys!😊
So another thing I bought on our trip (again at a Superdrug, miraculous fount of inexpensive fragrances) was a set of four men’s body sprays in li’l aluminum canisters from a company calling itself Bespoke London, which takes some nerve, because cheap drugstore body spray is more or less the opposite of bespoke. I’m wearing the Fresh Citrus and Vetiver (as usual they’re named for what they are), which is perfectly nice if quite ordinary.
Speaking of nerve (and Superdrug), I mentioned a knockoff Sol de Janeiro called Mar e Sol that I bought as a (bath)room spray on the trip, nearly identical packaging and everything, so brazen — I didn’t discover this until a couple of days later — and then the next day, at our next port of call, also in the UK, I bought another from the same line, a duplicate of Cheirosa 62 called Salted Caramel and Pistachio. Both are too strong and sweet for me to wear on my person, but they do a dandy job of freshening up a bathroom.
Oh, and as for the Lynx/Axe peach shower gel, I was astonished to discover yesterday that North Americans CAN buy one of the new line — we have Cherry Spritz (but not the others, for some reason). I must try it when I’m out today.
In case you missed my comment yesterday…

Wearing Nicolai Le Temps d’une Fete for May Day. I remember making cardboard baskets for flowers and hanging them on neighbor’s door knobs, anyone else?
Huh. For some reason that sounds vaguely familiar, but not sure why…so maybe!!
My mom made them when she was a little girl – so that’s circa 1932 – and she helped my sister and I take them around the neighborhood.
Interesting!
Gorgeous 🥰 one of my favorites from PdN…
Mine too 😘
Yes — ours were usually made of heavy construction paper. We would make them, put flowers in them, and carry them to friends/neighbors.
Our lilies of the valley have yet to bloom but the lilacs have appeared today — as usual, I smelled them before I saw them.
Lilacs are in bloom here too. I think our May basket flowers leaned towards dandelions and violets, and all the tulips we were allowed to pick.
I’m wearing CdG Vogue 125 with its LOTV note for May Day and Our Dear Lady who has seen her fair share of Vogue coverage.
Yes she has!
I’m wearing Muguet Porcelaine for May Day.
Following the muguet theme with (nonvintage) Dioressimo.
LOTV triplets!
What a great hoodie, Robin!
I remembered my rabbits.
Commando as I go down to South Coast Plaza today. A new stand alone Dior Beauty store opened yesterday and I want to sample Bois Talisman.
Plus recycle two bags full of Eileen Fisher clothes.
Have fun sniffing!! And you can drop those bags off on my porch 😉
If you see Rose Star and tried it, please report back!
I just realized the sweatshirt featured above managed to unite the rabbit and Versace theme in one item, strong work!
I note the sweatshirt is in youth sizes. Since I am a very small-sized adult, buying clothes meant for teens is a strategy for me sometimes, saves month on some items. My trusty Levi’s trucker jacket is sized for a teen boy but half the cost of the women’s version at the time I bought it. And the sleeves are a little wider, which I like.
Winding down my vacation, back at home after some traveling, now into the house cleaning and nagging unfinished tasks part of my time off, which is still more relaxing than my job. Wearing Day Three Escándalo. I managed not to buy any perfume on my travels but I did order some samples.
My rabbit game is strong 😉
I buy teen / child items too!
Me too, plenty of 12 and 14yrs in my wardrobe, especially sport items.
I grabbed Tempo by Diptyque out of my decant bag. I like the aromatic quality, but it has little sillage after an hour.
I thunked a decant of Tempo in record time. It’s really good!
At work today in Cheirosa 62 today. Normally I am off today but I work today and off Saturday instead.
Saturday is soon!
Wearing Coyoacan from Fantome which is the second to last bottle I purchased. So wonderful and happy.
Oh good!
Frozen mango and yogurt smoothie
28C today, a record for May 1st here but no humidity, just a gorgeous day. I chose Y this morning and was happy about it all day, it’s a fruity chypre but also impossibly elegant, and it reminds me of one of my aunts who wore it, along with No 5 and Parure. Tonight I reached for vintage Ma Griffe, the parfum de toilette, it is my most distinctive gardenia, so green, I adore it, by the great Jean Carles. I have three of his perfumes, MG, Tabu including a very vintage called lotion although it wears like an EDP, and Embrujo de Sevilla in Parfum and EDT, my most rare perfume, I haven’t opened the bottle of Parfum, it lives in the fridge.
How interesting! I have a bottle of Tabu and I remember Ma Griffe from the 70s but I’m not familiar with Embrujo de Sevilla at all. Will you open the perfume sometime?
Not sure, the bottle is sealed with baudruchage and gold thread and looks so pristine but I probably should, I have also the coffret box (outside of the fridge), so far the EDT has been enough to satisfy me. Yes, it’s not well known especially compared to Tabu.
I seem to be experiencing some of your famous/notorious British weather right now. It barely got to 60 degrees F here before the rain blew in this afternoon.
But every bit of moisture is appreciated and helps with the drought.
So I’m glad you got much needed rain but hope the temperatures will improve at least a little.
I am quite happy with temperatures in the 60’s right now.
Last year, the Denver area had 64 days with a high temperature over 90 degrees F. The heat will be back here soon enough.
Vintage Ma Griffe helped send me down the rabbit hole of no return. I got a mini in a random Ebay lot and swooned at first sniff! Wow – I did not know about the Tabu-MG connection. Tabu is certainly a favorite, too. You smell wonderful.
Thank you, MG is so distinctive isn’t it? Jean Carles was a genius although he’s less celebrated than Roudnitska.
Another successful blind buy, Fleur des Comores by MPG. It’s a soft floral vanilla, and is one of my most worn perfumes. Scent wise it sits somewhere in between Vanilia (l’Artisan Parfumeur) and Songes.
Forgot to mention that I love today’s choice of image!
It’s very Versace!
I forgot about May Day, so this evening I’m wearing Hermessence Muguet Porcelaine, the lovely lily of the valley perfume from perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena.
Perfect. I will probably wear it this weekend.
It’s a very gloomy and rainy May Day here. I’m wearing Shalimar Millesime Jasmin.
And you bring your own sunshine everywhere you go Ms Lillyjo!

SOTD = gisou honey infused hair perfume layered with Commodity Milk+
By itself, the hair perfume was generic, but layered with Milk+, it was nice!

In other news, here’s a NY Times gift article on how to save time and money when you’re at the airport. The last time I was at an airport was 10 months ago and I don’t have anything planned yet…

OMG, adorable kittehs!
Spent much of the day scentless in close quarters helping set up for our library’s Spring book sale (and games, puzzles, vinyl, CD’s, DVD’s,) – so many wonderful items! I’ll be working there most of the weekend; it’s a pleasure- and an honor – to help in any way I can, it’s my favorite place in town!❤️
Finally home and scented. The one shrub I don’t have in my garden is a magnolia but there are many in my neighborhood and they all bloomed for a long time this Spring. They’re finally done for the season, but I’m prolonging their scented beauty today in L’Occitane Magnolia & Mure. I smell equal parts magnolia and blackberry and I love it in Spring.
Happy May Day! 🌹🌷🪻🌳
Yay. Library book sales are so fun.
Sotd Moon Glory by The Harmonist.
The Sun just peeked out here to lift my spirits. Racing around since early with back to back meetings and deliveries for hospice. Going to take a nap with my arm perched up so I can smell my wrist wafting Moon Glory for a fragrant doze.
Don’t forget to take care of yourself as well.
🤗😘
Listen to Jalapeno and take care of yourself.
Bought additional lavender shower gel while picking up meds today at drugstore!
🐇🐇🐇! I have a second set of rabbits if anyone needs them.
Rainy and windy weather again this afternoon. Very glad I am not getting groceries in it!
Last week I noticed something unusual with my car, so I mentioned it to my brother a couple of days ago. He took a look yesterday afternoon. Good news is, he didn’t find anything of concern after a brief inspection. He told me to keep an eye on things when I was driving. There’s a pretty good chance I may head over to his place next week so he can have an in-depth check for a potential cause.
SOTD = a bit of vintage Diorissimo. Bet I have company!
My lotv are in full bloom too!
Hope he figures out what is wrong with the car.
For now my car is drivable, which was my major concern. It could be something as innocuous as a bad fuse.
Stopping by late in Insolence edt. My lilies of the valley are wafting May Day loveliness, but the unwanted and much-admired violets are still *everywhere* in my yard. They are my inspiration today after a morning of yardwork.
I badly need to join you in a morning of yardwork! We’ll see if I can get inspired.
Smelling good, I wore Insolence EDT last week. Enjoy your violets and well done with the yard work.
