Tom Ford Vanilla Sex ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 6 December 2023 27 Comments

Tom Ford will launch Vanilla Sex, a new gourmand fragrance in the Tom Ford Private Blend collection, later this month.

Addictive by nature and glamorous by design, a captivating interplay of deep and bright vanilla notes stars in Vanilla Sex. It’s an unforgettable experience and an icon of sensual pleasure that’s far from innocent.

Vanilla Tincture India, an ingredient created specifically for Vanilla Sex, exudes a soft sensuality. Vanilla reveals a pristine glamour, warmed by mysterious florals and bitter almond essence. A timeless sandalwood quality mingles with enticing tonka absolute and an exquisite Ultravanil™ molecule.

Tom Ford Vanilla Sex will be available in 30, 50 and 250 ml Eau de Parfum.

I know. My first thought was, “who comes up with this stuff?”

For Tom Ford, that seems tame.

I’m presuming you’ve never tried ‘Sex & Cognac’ , Kilian’s ‘ Let’s Settle This Argument Like Adults, In The Bedroom, Naked’ or even Secretions Magnifiques / Seminalis etc. It seems that in 2023 you can still make people clutch their pearls or decry the end of civilisation by putting ‘sex’ in the title of a product !

Nope. Let’s just say this makes TOM FORD’s Fucking Fabulous sound tame by comparison. 😇

When I saw the name, my response was what do you expect out of Tom Ford? Just by seeing Tom Ford ads and his other perfume names, it’s heavy on the sex.

Yeah, “vanilla sex” actually doesn’t seem on brand, once you get past the supposed shock value of seeing the word “sex” in a perfume name (which is no longer surprising for TF).

I’m sure not his intention at all but Tom Ford has become boring.

This comment thread makes the name “Vanilla Sex” a lot more entertaining.

My first reaction was an eyeroll.

I can see I’m in the minority, but I thought at first glance that that was a great name for a scent — possibly the best thing about it, because there are three things I’m confident of: 1) it will not be particularly interesting, 2) it will be wildly overpriced for what it is, and 3) it will nevertheless sell like gangbusters.

Maybe it would be better if the words were in French? Lol.

I wonder what the French term for not-kinky is! Reminds me of a video I saw where an English woman asked a French woman what the French term for “French kissing” is, and the French woman said, “Kissing.” 🙂

If you haven’t read it, look what he says Black Orchid smells like. After I saw what he wrote I kept smelling myself. Really probably shouldn’t say it on here, but now nothing surprises me coming from him.

I’m over the whole shock-factor that seems to be TF’s modus operandi…I’m no prude, honestly, but this is just becoming tedious. At least “Lost Cherry” was a good fragrance to me,so I’m hoping this at least smells decent.
