I’m in Zara Vapeur Blanche today, for a day of getting the teen to an all-day orchestra workshop outside the city and making sure the lunch we ordered for the kids shows up. (80 pizzas…fingers crossed they show up. We ordered from 3 places to be safe.)
I tried emailing Les Senteurs this morning to see if they’d ship me Tauer Nexin internationally. It is still in my cart from yesterday and I got an automated reminder last night to come back and buy what was in my cart, but I bet it’s long sold out. Someone in London is laughing quite hard right now. 😀 Oh well, £220 saved.
Sorry!! That went really fast. But I do wonder if other niche retailers will have bottles coming…it’s possible US retailers haven’t listed it yet because they don’t have the bottles yet. Might be worth shooting an email to Luckyscent, Ministry of Scent, Smallflower, Fumerie?
I”m guessing that since there were only 1000 bottles, individually numbered, it’s not coming this way. I did look at Luckyscent yesterday and there was nothing. Oh well, some things are not meant to be. 🙂

I’m in my last sprays from a decant of CDG Cologne Series 4: Anbar. I’m not really a cologne person but this one is my favourite of the three, exceedingly nice and not at all expensive, and I keep wondering if I ought to get a bottle….
Drogerie Markt is a German drugstore chain that carries all sorts of quality inexpensive personal-care products: whenever I’m in Berlin I get a little haul of fun things to bring back with me. One of them this time around is a few Bilou shower gels in foaming spray canisters (like shave cream): they have one called Funky Cola and I ask you, how am I supposed to resist that? And it does smell like cola, too!
I just looked Bilou up. My gosh the shower foams really are so much fun! Sweet popcorn, creamy dough and tasty donut… How do you choose!?
Luckily for me, DM only ever seems to have three scents at any one time, so I just get one of each and count myself lucky. I would definitely get Sweet Popcorn if it were in the shelf, and probably several of it.
Oh dear, now I want some Funky Cola shower cream. Can’t see the brand in the US anywhere.
DM is awesome! They have great bubble baths and bath bombs and coloured bath tabs for kids — you can mix and match the colours to change the colour of your bath and such. Ockeghem Teen has only…just…decided that she’s too old to have kid fun in the bathtub, so I don’t pick them up anymore, but they were fun. 🙂
Okay here had a foaming shower mousse in their strawberry scent that was wonderful. Shave cream style soaps are lovely.
I didn’t know I had a shower foam lemming but I guess I do now.

I had the flu and Covid vaccine last night, and I woke up with really bad body pain this morning. So I will take it easy for the rest of the day. I am sure I will be fine tomorrow. I am watching on TV the eclipse broadcast from different parts of the world. It is a very dark, rainy day here today, so we will miss the 25% partial view we were ready to see here.

Hope you feel better soon. We got our flu shots yesterday. Already have done Covid and RSV so I think we are done for this year. I am fortunate I haven’t had too much for side effects from any of the vaccines this time around except a headache from the Covid vaccine.

I always get side effects from the Moderna shot. Never from Pfizer or the flu vaccine, except for a very mild sore arm. But I am glad I am done for the season.
That’s interesting – my reactions to the vaccines have been the same as yours re Moderna vs Pfizer.

Just was able to watch the eclipse! I had bought some special glasses and shared them with my neighbors. We have a bright sunny day here but the light got so eerie! I watched it happen for about 45 minutes. It’ll take awhile to finish but I came back inside. We have around 80-90% totality here and that ring of fire part was amazing. Wow.
I am wearing Fils de Dieu and eating leftovers of the big casserole dish I made last night of chicken tetrazzini. I used up around half of a rotisserie chicken and it came out well, I’m happy to say!
So jealous! Mr. Ockeghem texted Ockeghem Teen and I while I was driving her to her orchestra workshop to let us know the eclipse was peaking (he’s an astronomy nerd), and we were like 🤷🏼♀️…hard to see an eclipse through clouds.

I have been reaching for Shalimar MI which is funny since I have never much cared for Shalimar in the past. I think as I grow older my tastes have changed in perfume. That’s okay though as that means I can get some different ones in my arsenal.
Does Shalimar MI have good projection?
I guess I really don’t know to be honest with you. Maybe someone else could answer. No one has commented on it, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t project well.
Just came back in from watching the eclipse. We are in Corpus Christi, which was right in the center of the path of annularity, so at the maximum point there was a perfect “ring of fire.” A couple of people played the Johnny Cash song during the eclipse, which was very apt. I got some really good photos which I will upload and try to share where everyone can see them when we get back home.

I got too busy yesterday and did not get a chance to post about yesterday’s scent which was NVC Mohur Extrait which a good number of us wore yesterday. I have ~ 8 mL left of this beauty. For what it’s worth, when I wore this back in the day and I mentioned it was reformulated, I was told no and so I shall remain silent on that.

I had dinner with a friend and a Haunted House display / tour immediately after. Dinner was at Casablanca, a Moroccan restaurant in East Brunswick. It was wonderful! I am not an adventurous eater although as long as a food is not hot / spicy, I can tolerate it. I had the chicken kebab 🍡 with saffron rice and when it came, the sticks were nowhere to be seen! It was fine though and made eating it much easier.
The Haunted House had a bit of a kerfuffle because the directions landed us where there was no entry and it took a while to extricate myself since I was car 1 and there were 3 others right behind me plus at least 6 more cars on the highway leading up to it. Not good, especially since it was a high speed highway but thank God there weren’t many vehicles traveling about. The display was scary 😱 because there were live and mean actors!

My best/worst Halloween moment was on a haunted trail when I lived in Asheville, NC. I was dating this guy who was about 6’5” and I kid you not, I pushed him to ground in my efforts to escape a guy who popped out of the bushes with a chain saw! 💀 🏃🏻♀️

I love haunted houses! It takes A LOT to scare me so I usually just end up admiring the details in the decors and the makeup of the actors. But fun nonetheless!
I also really admire the actors because they need to scream and yell all night, which definitely takes a huge toll on their vocal cords.
Lazy day after busy week. Got up early to make coffee for our overnight guests. The Chobani Peppermint Mocha creamer was a huge hit. Ended up not going to the fish boil last night. The wife side of the couple visiting had a flare up of a health condition that was triggered by the car ride, so she and I elected to stay home. Lovely woman so it became a very nice evening.
Going to a play tonight, so am thinking something innocuous yet comforting. Maybe Kiss Me Intense. The local hamburger and ice cream joint is closing tomorrow for the season, so we will head there for an early dinner before the play.

I just got myself the Jo Malone Christmas Cologne Collection and it is so stinking cute. The set comes in a box that looks like a gingerbread house. Ginger Biscuit is so good and I can see myself wearing it from fall through winter. I wish they’d release GB in the 1 oz size like in Europe. I finally get to try all their other holiday fragrances in the set too, which I’m sure I’ll wear throughout winter too.

I’ve had a lovely few days with my mother visiting and a week off work, but I’m also looking forward to getting back to the usual routine. My mother is 93 in two weeks, so nothing happens fast. The visits to cousins and other outings take a bit of time, but she can still get to up and down the two floors of stairs to our place, so she is doing very well.
As well, we also had a general election and I had a big birthday yesterday. I’ve turned 60, and like every other person I’m wondering how I got here so fast! It’s been busy lately, so I haven’t even decided what I’d like as a present from my mother, but I’m sure it will be perfume.
My beloved paid for part of my overseas trip back in April, and I’ve assured him that that has birthdays covered for the rest of our lives 🙂

I didn’t get a chance to wear Shalimar last week, so SotD is Shalimar MI. I’ve enjoyed it so much. Today was mostly cloudy and even rainy for a while, but the clouds broke a few times and Mr. Mossy and I got a good view of three phases of the eclipse. I have pine straw islands around my pine trees, and this year, the needles fell before too many of the leaves. That gave me nice clean topping for my islands, and I finished raking today. It’s the little things!
LTSG was asking if Shalimar MI projects well. I really couldn’t answer her as I can’t tell. No one had said anything to me when I am wearing it, but that doesn’t mean anything.
Wearing the Halloween-friendly White Witch by Perfumes Jamaica Ltd. because I’m decanting a bit for a friend. It’s a vintage tropical floral chypre-y thing that I found at an antique flea market.
I had not heard of them but looks like they’re still in business.
Commando today because I got so distracted by the arrival of my early Christmas gift, a new combo embroidery and sewing machine! It will take me at least from now until Christmas to figure out how to use it. I’ve wanted one for years, and there was a great deal on a good one on Prime Days, so that’s my gift from my lovely spouse.
I have a terrific Husqvarna Viking sewing machine, one of the last models made in Sweden instead of Asia, so that will get me through a couple of projects while I learn how to use the new one. I plan to keep using the Viking for sewing and mostly use the new one for embroidery.

Now, if I remember well, there are no more free samples for 100 Club members. The new scents are available for purchase before they are released for regular sales. Strawberry Fool and Sonoran Desert Musk have not been released yet, but you can buy them now.
It says on the website that Sonoran Desert Musk in samples and bottles are already sold out. You can order both Strawberry Fool in the sample size and the full bottle. Interesting. Curious if anyone had tried them.

It was such a busy week, I don’t think I chimed in once for the India CP. But I really enjoyed reading everyone’s fabulous picks, especially for the cooler weather.
I took my son to the mall yesterday and had a chance to stop by the Le Labo counter. The SA was so nice and I had fun chatting with her. I tried the new Lavande on a blotter. I can barely detect the lavender here, I get a lot of neroli and fresh musk. It smells quite wearable, but it’s not doing much for me. I also finally sniffed Ylang 49, which I had always avoided. I know that ylang-ylang is in so many fragrances I love, but I’ve always had this bad association with it smelling like cloying floral banana. Bottom line, I think I love it! Can’t wait to try it on skin.

I have a friend, whom we will refer to as G in these here parts, whom, I am convinced, is on the verge of frenzied autism. Hi folks! I wore Bombay Bling on Friday for the CP and Trayee yesterday, but today I’m in Cap Neroli for some herbal cheerfulness.
I thought I was supposed to work today, but when I showed up I found out I should have double-checked the schedule because it turns out I’m off! What a wonderful feeling–a bonus day to get things done! Of course I haven’t done much yet, but it sure is nice.
It was rainy and cloudy all day yesterday so I doubt I could have seen the eclipse if I’d tried. Will hope for better luck in April.

Yes,I actually tried all 4 the other day!They are nicely done,none of that ghastly chemical undertones some of their perfumes have.But nothing groundbreaking or novel,so I won’t be purchasing any of them(I might backtrack for the Vanilla one).
