It’s Easter Monday and Siblings Day. Birthdays: Omar Sharif, Paul Theroux and Annie Lamott. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm waking very slowly today, in Le Labo Bergamotte 22.
Reminder: on 4/14, for Pan American Day, wear a perfume named for a place in North or South America, with bonus points for places that aren't New York City.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2023, where I'll try (but usually fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I am wearing Poivre Electrique, from Atelier Cologne. This is my first wearing and I like it. Just enough spice for a dreary, but not cold day.
Glad you found something to counter the dreary!
I am wearing Portrait of a Lady body oil. I really love this version of POAL.
It is sunny and not too cold, so will go for a walk .
POAL in any shape or form is fantastic!
Do you have experience with Malle body lotions? I have never tried them and contemplating getting the Cologne Indelible one. I couldn’t find any reviews, so I will appreciate your input on this. Thank you.
Original releases were not to my liking,I found them too sticky, but also thin in consistency. Not sure if the orignal lotions are still around, other than that I’ve loved the POAL body oil and shower product.
Thank you
And the iris hand cream is lovely despite the painful price.
Not CP-compliant but geographical anyway in Vanille Sauvage de Madagascar from La Maison de la Vanille, which I think is the best of the original five scents from the house. It’s a very good, interestingly complicated vanilla, although I have to be in just the right mood to wear it.
Welcome to Afrique du Sud with your SOTD!Haha!
Madagascar is defo still on my bucket list of travels at home.✌🏻
You smell great, that’s one I have too.
Lilac trees are in full bloom in my area and the smell is beautifully intoxicating. So I decided to wear Vilhelm One Lilac a Day. Love it 😍
Beautiful day today. We will have a week with gorgeous sunny days and warm temperatures. Energizing and uplifting! Spring is finally here!
On my second cup of coffee and a Franch brioche toast with rose jam.
Happy Monday! 🌹
Enjoy your sunshine! We’re having unseasonal showers and it’s a somewhat chilly early Fall day.
(By chilly I mean 23° celcius, which of course makes us put on socks and long trousers for once, haha!)
XO’s
Thank you, J B! Your 23 degrees Celsius is like summertime for me right now! Those are the temps we are having here this week. Where is the swimsuit? Lol! Sending you all socks and long trousers we don’t need here anymore!
🤣🤣🤗🌹
House twins!
Yay! We smell great in our Vilhelm!
Today’s photo is gorgeous — wish I’d taken it. Lost my photography mojo during the pandemic and am just now taking baby steps to regain it. Anyway, I’m reveling in OJ Woman this morning. What an amazingly unique scent.
That scene is so perfect it almost looks like the fake backdrop to a video game or something!
Happy Monday!
Oh I enjoy Paul Theroux’s doccies so much.He is incredibly funny in that true Brit way too.
SOTD!
When last did you wear a rapturous perfume that only brings smiles and sighs of happiness?
Dior Homme edp.I forget how epic this iris is.I’ve syphoned almost half of it off for a colleague’s son who adores the perfume as well(not anymore, the rest is MINE!!)
Good stuff!
I went to look at a bigger apartment in the estate today.”Bigger” is a relative term has it has two bedrooms yes,but they are so tiny! And the bath will not fit my stature(6 foot 2) whereas my current bath is like an oasis pool!
Sometimes we should be content with what we have.
XO’s
Dior Homme is indeed gorgeous — lean over here! And enjoying what we have is good advice for many situations. 💕
Yes!And leaning over!🤗
I read a lot of Theroux years ago but am now quite behind. I will never catch up with all the writers I love, that’s all there is to it.
Being content is an art, isn’t it?
My response is below!🤗✌🏻😉
I was actually thinking about Louis Theroux, the British journalist and his documentaries!Whoops!
But I’ve read The Mosquito Coast from Paul.
Definitely agreeing that being content is an art.🌹🤗
Ha, well Paul Theroux wrote a lot of travel books too, so that is what I thought you meant!
Scent: started the day in Goutal’s Le Chevrefeuille, and it has since drifted off. Just tried Nemat’s Vanilla Musk oil at Whole Foods, and gotta say, this is intriguing. I’m not sure if I tried it before – vanilla used to reliably turn cloying for me, so I generally avoided it. So no clue if I tried it before, but this is nice stuff.
Our son is stopping for a few hours between New York and San Francisco, so we’ll get to see him for a few hours. He’ll get to enjoy midwestern sunshine and daffodils and temps in the 60s – a really nice welcome.
Enjoy your visit!
Enjoy your son’s visit.
What fun, hope you all enjoy catching up!
Finishing up my Vilhelm sample exploration today with Do Not Disturb and 125th & Bloom (aka Harlem Bloom), so I get an expected CP point.
To my nose DND is a take on a fruitchouli with a juicy, fruity-red-wine blackcurrant and dirty patchouli underneath it. I also get a whiff of cigarette smoke. Absolutely hits the mark as a hotel room that has been occupied for a couple of days. With 125th&Bloom I get mainly suede and saffron, but like a SweetTart version of saffron.
Tea this morning is a very delicious Black tea with citrus and spices called Amsterdam Blend from a tea shop in Amsterdam call Het Kleinste Huis. The shop was so narrow that if I stretched out my arms I think I could have touched both side walls at once!
I looked it up…
https://www.mileswithvibes.com/amsterdam/afternoon-tea-at-the-smallest-house-in-amsterdam/
It was delightful and I wish I had made a reservation to have tea in their second floor tea room. Although the The “stairs” to get up there looked more like a bunk bed ladder!
Ugh, *unexpected CP point. I need an edit button
I’m wearing Kyoto today and I might do an incense week. The only
CP perfume I can think of is Nicolai New York, although I’ll take a look at my collection.
It’s just beautiful here 🌱🌷
You smell great!
Beautiful here too.😎
Thank you for all the birthday wishes!! Still no power, so I’m going for a walk as the weather is so good. Wearing MdO Dojima.
Happy belated!🎂
Gosh, I hope you get your power back soon. We are walking twins.
Happy belated birthday!! I hope you managed to do something a little special even without power.
Well, at least there’s good weather to make up for it! Fingers crossed you’ll have your power back soon.
I hope you have a wonderful year and electricity and lots of happy days!
Belated Birthday greetings!
Bonus points for me today, in Lonestar Memories. Otherwise I doubt I’ll get bonus points the rest of the week…need to peruse the collection and samples again.
Oh, good one!
I’m in Eau des Merveilles.
It’s gorgeous here!🌞 70 and sunny. This is the kind of weather I live for. I just got back from a lunchtime walk. More of the same for the rest of the week.😎
Happy Monday!
Oooh, jealous! Nothing but cold rain here for days on end.
Oh, how delightful! You smell gorgeous and the weather is envious!
It’s still raining here, and it’s supposed to continue until Thursday. So I will keep wearing my heavier fragrances until dry, sunny, and warm Spring arrives. Today I’m wearing PdE Musc Tonkin, the edp. I am thinking about getting the extrait, too. Does anyone have experience with both and can compare?
Sorry, no, but wishing you better weather!
Good Monday, NST fam!
I am in Tea Service by Chasing Scents. My search for a Chinese tea perfume has reached conclusion — this is a lovely jasmine and osmanthus oolong tea blend, made fruity and lightly sweet by goji berries. It smells just like the floral herbal teas I grew up with, the ones with chrysamthemum, osmanthus, goji berries and red dates usually sweetened with rock sugar. It’s such a nostalgic feeling. Tea Service does lean subtle but that feels appropriate for a tea scent. Highly recommend sampling, they are carried by Luckyscent.
I had a fabulous weekend meeting friends and attending an incense making workshop. The teacher taught us how to turn powdered dry materials into cones and sticks. I had no idea that it could be so simple: all you need is powdered woods for a base (sandalwood, cedar, oak), a binder (makko powder, resins, gums), aromatics (lavender, frankincense, etc) and essential oils to boost the aroma. Combine them all with a little bit of water and you get a dough that can be shaped however you like. She sells the kits online if you wanna try it out too! https://www.baboshop.space/product-page/incense-making-kit-diy.
Glad you had such a fun and interesting class, thank you for sharing.
thank you, and you’re most welcome!
What a fun workshop! Thank you for sharing the link. I was leaning in the direction of joining others in an incense week and you nudged me in that direction😊
yes!! I love incense on its own and in perfumery. such a rich historical practice. enjoy your incense week!
That sounds like so much fun!
it was!! thanks for reading <3
Thanks for telling us about this workshop, it sounds so interesting!
it was!! thanks for reading <3
Thanks for the 411 on the perfume and incense goodies!
most welcome!! thanks for reading <3
I forgot the CP and sprayed on Agonist The Infidels just now after my shower. It’s a pretty potent scent combining lemon, florals, patchouli, resin, amber, vanilla, cloves, iris, and lots more. I don’t see any fruits in the list but I could swear it has some plum or something more sweetish in it. This one is definitely not for everyone.
I hope those who celebrate had a nice Easter with friends or family or both. Yesterday I visited Mom and took her a bouquet and a little Easter basket. It was not the best day for her but she did seem to like her flowers. A cute online Easter card I received showed little chicks hatching out of colored eggs in matching colors like purple and pink. That reminded me that my dad had a chicken named “Greenie” when he was little. I’ve seen pictures of it, albeit in black and white. I think he was dyed as a little chick, which is kind of gross, but I guess was something they did back then.
My painter is here working away in the kitchen. I’ll be glad to have the use of it back! For now I can still use the oven and microwave, just not the stove top. I’m longing to make a stir-fry or some pasta, but maybe instead I’ll go out for lunch soon! We have mild weather here now, very nice.
That’s a stunning photo of Banff! It’s such a beautiful place, just amazing.
Hope you’ll like the newly painted kitchen.
I hope you do get your kitchen back soon. I love your story of Greenie.
Hope that the end is in sight for you with the kitchen!
Hello all!
1) Grey rainy Easter Monday, with bursts of soft whites, pinks, purple and yellow flowers outside.
2) Am in a combo of Sunshine Mimosa from BBW and a spritz of LBM from Jo Malone. Uplifting and bright.
Hope you’ll get sunny weather soon.
Hopefully!
I have learned to embrace it- raincoat, scarf, waterproof sneakers and a good walk in clean rain washed air cheers the spirit.
It was a sun and white clouds weather and 14C.
In two cheapies today, Mayfair Just Musk which is a comfy musk, not a white, laundry one, more like Kiehl’s and even cheaper, I got that bottle last year and have retrieved it recently from the perfume chest, and tonight it’s l’Occitane Rose Calisson.
Gosh, and just realized I never see Kiehl’s Musk here anymore! It used to be such a cult favorite.

I really enjoyed this short piece by Theroux in last week’s London Review of Books about being a poor writer in suburban London in the 1970s when the only perk was being taken out for a posh lunch by your publisher. It should open from the link but can be googled ( it’s one of those sites with 3 free reads a month).
Wearing Prairie Nymph for the CP
Good call for the CP!
Thank you for the link Kanuka!
Peyto Lake is even more beautiful in person and I suggest everyone try to get there and see it. Drive the Icefields Parkway if you can. Just one stunning view after another. I love every part of Canada that I’ve seen! 🇨🇦 I think I was originally born in Canada and my parents stole me away from my homeland. Canada, please take me back!
Still sitting in the hospital parking lot. The rain continues non-stop. It’s a good thing I like my new digs because I’m spending a LOT of time in the camper. There are no parks in this area if you can believe that! Drove to a location in the Oregon side of the Columbia last week. No sooner parked and got out than some guy drove up and asked for my pass, which of course I didn’t have, then told me I had to pay $40 for an annual pass or leave. Charming! We’ll be head out today for a couple of days, hoping we find somewhere nice to land so we can continue to watch the rain. 🙄
I’m wearing Angel’s Share again today after a small spritz before bedtime last night. I can really understand lemming a full sized bottle of this one! So GOOD!
Any chance you were in fact born in Canada and got stolen? 🤣
Great idea on Angel’s Share!
A moody Monday for me. It’s time to do the taxes here at Casa de Jalapeno. Ugh.
SOTD = back in Dame Rigur de Gardenia.
Yikes. We are terrible tax twins!
Hopefully you aren’t in a bad mood, too.
Hope your mood improves once it’s done!
Mondays are meant for moody, aren’t they? But hope Tuesday is better.
SOTD = Love, by Kilian, don’t be shy Extreme
Love!

Lots to do (d-mn you, taxes) and I have 3 to do. Ohmmmmm.
I’d much rather be perfume twins with you than tax twins! Le sigh.
I still have to file for the city. I put that one off because I always have to pay.
It was a beautiful day here today. I’ve been quite busy so didn’t see much of it. My sotd is JM Sakura Blossom. It’s nice, but not me. It reminds me of Dior Blooming Bouquet.
A big fat BOO for missing nice weather! But you gotta do what you gotta do.
