I bought very little this year and I tried even fewer new perfumes. I'm wearing Diptyque Philosykos, which I'm sure is my most-worn for the year.

Starting out the day with a big smile because lillyjo found her special pendant! I am wearing Tauer Golestan for the CP my best of 2022. But I think, in another interpretation, my favorite purchase was a one-year FragrancNet PurplLux subscription. No, it does not save you money, because you are certain to want only the perfumes that have a stiff extra charge. But at long last, as I run out of drawer and shelf space for perfumes, the lovely travel samples taught me that a 15ml decant is quite a bit, and the most I’m likely to use of *any* scent I own. Kind of a shocker, that. The best teacher of the lot was Atelier d’Ors Lune Feline. I loved it but it is not my usual flowerly style, and is quite pricey. So now I can enjoy it. And yes, the decant even had the gold flakes. Looking forward to everyone’s choices.

No community points, I think: I just went with what I felt like wearing, which was L’Artisan L’Eau du Navigateur, a favourite since way back when. It smells quietly masculine, but nothing at all like any standard men’s scent. Just a beautifully constructed thing.

A warm, sunny December day here in Malaga. I am enjoying an extended Christmas break – sleeping, cooking, reading. I’ve been making vegan stuff from Marie Laforêt’s book “Noël vegan” and the recipes have turned out so well I’ve ordered some more of her stuff. I think there’s an English language version “the vegan holiday cookbook”. Also doing non-vegan stuff for myself, including an oxtail casserole that was just to die for.
Last week’s highlight was a professional training course, a new qualification “Project, Programme & Portfolio Governance” or P3G. First time I’ve done a course remotely over Zoom and it worked fine, better than I expected. I got the book afterwards from Amazon and TOMK was laughing at me as I happily unwrapped it – it’s not everyone’s idea of fun Christmas reading. 😀

2022 is the year I really got into Thierry Mugler and I think Aura is my favorite purchase but I am not feeling it today. Instead I chose Zoologist Cow, which I love. It smells so gentle and pretty and a green floral is always welcome. Happy Friday everyone!

I chose Profumum Alba for the CP. The notion of a “favorite” is a moving target for me — it changes from day to day — but Alba is the newest new-love fragrance in my collection, even if not the most recent purchase. Alba is perfect for a chilly, rainy, wintry day, which we are most definitely having hereabouts. Happy Friday, and happy New Year’s Eve Eve, everyone!
My SOTD, favourite new release and Best Buy of the year is Hiram Green Arcadia. Love it…green but without astringency, sweet but not sugary, floral and herbal. It smells like a good night’s sleep to me.
I recently sampled Arcadia and loved it, you smell great! My Hiram Green purchase this year (first FB) was Arbolé. One of the rare occasions when I tried the sample and was buying the FB online within an hour. Now I’m almost afraid to try the rest of his discovery set, lol!
SOTD is going to be the ever famous “Commando”. Still can’t smell, though it’s getting a bit better. At least I was able to sleep for 3 hour stretches last night.
If I were going to wear something, I’d probably be twins with MossyBerry, because I think Golestan is the only 2022 release I have. (I was thinking maybe Fox in the Flowerbed, until I realized that came out last year…it felt new when I got it this year, at least!)

I’m wearing my most recent purchase, Eau de Dagg, made from distilled sheep dags so it starts off smelling like the rear end of a sheep but then mellows to become the front end, fuggy and wooly . Not a first date scent unless you want to attract dogs.

However, I’m not sure it would be for me, one of the worst things I’ve ever smelled was a sheep crutching machine in action. That was about 15 years ago, and I’m still scarred by the experience
Oh, that does sound rather unpleasant. Your conversation here reminds me of when my friend Sue and I went to the Isle of Skye and had a fun night out in a local bar being treated to all kinds of Scotch (by oil rig workers and sheep shearers). One of the kinds was Sheep Dip, which I don’t recommend. I did try Talker there, made on Skye, which is still my favorite, though I never drink Scotch any more. It was a memorable night and a perhaps even more memorable morning (one of the reasons I no longer indulge in Scotch!).

I was one week early and wore my favorite purchase for the year last Friday. Oh, well I am wearing it again today and immediately got a compliment when I went to the store. It is FM Iris Poudre. I noticed that I get a lot of compliments on this one. So glad I bought a BUB since it was on sale.

Wow, the year is nearly over. It’s had some wild moments, and I’m hoping for something calmer in 2023.
One of the positives is that my local perfumery has signicantly expanded their range, I can’t keep up! They have a few Nishane, which I’m enjoying, so my perfume plan for today is to try a couple more of those.

That is odd. Mojave Ghost also just seems to disappear on me.

I’m in Byredo De los Santos, from a sample. I don’t try a ton of new releases, so wasn’t sure if I would have any on hand. When I look at Luckyscent’s list of new releases, I tried just 3 of them. lol. Francesca Bianchi’s Unspoken Musk was the favorite that I tried, but I quickly used up my sample.
I haven’t lost my sense of smell or taste, but they are definitely “muted,” if that makes sense. Continuing to feel more human every day and I’ve slept pretty well for the past 2 nights, which makes a huge difference. Sun and blue skies today.🌞 That helps too!😎

I went to several banks between yesterday and today, especially thinking that one of my accounts is dormant (it wasn’t, which was very perplexing). The “banking experts” see the interest rate level as not lasting too long (at the high) and are not confident enough to make longer bets of higher APRs above 13 months. I am not complaining but it is making me think I should consolidate further. If you have spare cash that you will not need over the next 13 months, you may want to check out what your bank is offering!

My experience with 2022 fragrances is similar to that of Robin’s, so instead of the Best of 2022 I’m doing the Best of Winter and wearing my all-time favorite winter scent: Givenchy’s original Organza Indècence. I can’t believe it’s more than 20+ years old already but it has been my favorite since I first tried it way back then in 1999. I love how it’s just a little bit sweet yet warm and sultry.❤️
Since we skipped presents for each other this year and aren’t having having any big get-togethers, Mr. Laila and I have treated ourselves to several dinners out this week, a movie, and tonight we’re going out for pizza and then a live concert at a folk music venue we’ve not visited yet. Then a quiet weekend ahead to welcome in 2023🎉 and a low-key visit on Sunday with a couple of close friends (and 1 more meal out – 😁 – I could get very used to this, but I know all good things must come to an end . . . 😢 )

A few weeks ago my boss told me he wanted to get me a perfume as a Christmas present. He told me he knew I liked the ” “old one’s you can’t get anymore ” and gave me a price limit and told me to find one I really wanted. First… wow! And 2nd what was I going to pick? I have a unicorn list and just started looking. Of course everything was triple my limit. Then I found what I wanted and under priced!
A half full 1.7 oz bottle of Tiffany Trueste ( my wedding perfume) no box but perfect bottle. He gave it to me yesterday and I am wearing it today. It smells beautiful. Soft and powdery but with an edge to it. I am so happy to have it back in my collection.

I am posting so late today. I had a medical appointment and then I wanted to walk before it started to rain, and now here I am, mid-afternoon. I’m wearing my most-worn of 2022, Box of Eels parfum. Last year I wore Sarrasins a few more times than BdI. They are both my special favorites out of all I have.
It’s great you wear your special favorites often. I plan on wearing mine more often in the new year.
I keep forgetting to post about Other Scented Stuff I have come across lately. Currently in my shower I have 2 shower gels, Blood Orange from LUSH and Golden Passionfruit from Korres. By combining the two, I get the perfect sweet/tart passionfruit note from Byredo’s Pulp! Too bad the Blood Orange was a Limited Edition.
In other news, it felt like spring here today. But all the salt on the sidewalks and streets tells another story. I am hoping for a decent amount of rain to show up soon and wash away some of that nasty stuff.
SOTD = two teeny spritzes of Guerlain Iris Torrefie today. Yes, I am back in perfume, thanks to Hajusuuri. I decided that I would try a sample I haven’t yet sprayed, so my take on the CP was “New to me in 2022”. The Iris Torrefie was a perfect match for the weather.

I like Iris Torrefie, too. But I think Santal Pao Rosa was more my style.

I’ve been mostly offline this week, visiting with family. I brought about 5 samples with me and one does actually fit the CP. I’m wearing Chanel Boy today, it’s one of my most worn this past year. I’ve realized it’s the exclusif that I reach for most easily, the type of anytime anywhere scent for me. I wish I had a large bottle.

Finances: marinating in the savings!, which feels so good!
First paycheck at the new gig: not great but totally mitigated by location and low stress position! I’d do it all over again.
Words of wisdom: avoid alcohol. It will kill you, slowly and painfully.

Heading into my third night and only one more to go! Got an email from the forest service today expressing interest in interviewing me next week! My check engine light went on. Unlike the other warning light I had a few weeks ago, this one isn’t going off. Sticking close to work until I can get that sorted after the new year.

Well, from a professional perspective, it was a very wise choice. Alcohol just wrecks you slowly but steadily. I like a cider once in a while or a root beer flavored beer but more and more, I’m passing on anything alcoholic.
As for the forest, yes, my long term plan (since I’ve started travel nursing) has been to get out of nursing and pursue something else. I did the travel nursing gig for the travel, not the nursing. Plan was to pay off everything, thus allowing me to take a lesser paying job that I am more likely enjoy and find satisfying. I’ve been a nurse for a very long time and am so disenchanted with hospitals and medicine that some days the thought of having to go to work just wrecks my whole day. Just too much BS that’s totally NOT related to good patient care and job satisfaction. I have very low tolerance fo any kind of BS but that’s my cross to bear since life is 99% BS anyway…😏
The van’s running just fine. When I did some research, it’s most likely a sensor gone bad, which is an easy fix, so hoping that’s what it is. This is a very small town and everything, including mechanics, are closed from Christmas through New Years.
