It's Tuesday and National Pepperoni Pizza Day. Happy 88th to Sophia Loren! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Hermès Eau de Néroli Doré. Tea at the moment is James Taylor Breakfast Blend from Upton.
Reminder: on 9/23, we're doing You Say It's Your Birthday...pick a song related to a musical birthday today (John Lomax, Ray Charles, John Coltrane, Julio Iglesias, Bruce Springsteen, Ani DiFranco, or find another!) and wear a fragrance to match.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Hello. Commando cept for the scent of Lady Speed Stick. Lol. May put somethin on later. Craving citrus. Pep Pizza Day 🍕. Mmmm. Vons/Safeway had a frozen pizza special for 1.50 per pie..I bought some and shall celebrate Pizza Day later.
Wow, 1.50 for a whole pizza? That’s a great deal!
I know, right?
Ugh I visiting a casino hotel named Sam’s Town..it smells so bad here-quite literally like Raid..for those who tour the Vegas area..this place is a real dump. It has a tacky atrium thing that is the highlight..and Sam’s is literally right by the projects. Terrible neighborhood. Avoid if visiting the area lol
In Hermes Vetiver Tonka.
Happy Tuesday! 🍕
I need to find that one and sample it. It’s come up quite a bit lately.
I hope you find your sample. It is a very nice transitional scent.
You smell great 🙂
Thank you!
I’m wearing what I think is a really good transitional fragrance, Moshino pour femme. I bought a bottle as a blind buy, just for the notes alone. Luckily it was cheap as chips and I really like it. It starts just a little sweet, but then the galbanum and marigold kick in for more of an herbal fragrance. Nice.
I never did smell that one — and it really is perfumath free.
Galbanum and marigold sound great, I should look this up.
ooo – that sounds quite nice!
In my favorite vetiver today, Givenchy’s Vetyver, which has been discontinued again. I remember buying it a few years ago after Kevin’s review I enjoy it even more than the (vintage) Guerlain – which I’d gone through many bottles of. Softer, less bright and grounded by a beauty of a sandalwood note.
I do have a single back-up bottle but I’m still annoyed. 😂
Givenchy does have a habit of re-releasing things, so I guess you can still hope?
Perhaps. They just repackaged a bunch of their back catalog – square-ish, uniform bottles – and a few scents from Parfums Mythiques made the cut. Vetyver, for the moment anyway, did not.
Testing Abaton’s Chinotto Dark for me today. Sophia Loren is Italian and this is a niche Italian house and that’s all I’ve got. I really like this. It reminds me of an Italian after-dinner liqueur infused with incense & resins and bittersweet herbs to balance out the fruity citrus notes. Drydown seems to be veering into vanillic territory though.
That sounds like something I might like!
You smell great! The Abatons feel like a well-kept secret.
I think for the rest of the week I’m going with Ani DiFranco, “Not a Pretty Girl” as my theme. I used to listen to this on repeat in the 90s; I still know all the words by heart. SOTD is MCMC Fragrances Kept, as I seem to recall a story on this one that the name is meant to be tongue-in-cheek about “kept women”. (Also I need something that will stay relatively close to my skin without a ton of longevity b/c Ockeghem Tween is at a medical assessment all morning.)
Hope the med appt goes well ockeghem, and I really like your theme!
I thought at first that was leading up to “Ani DiFranco has released a perfume” and I thought now there’s an interesting idea.
I’m in VCA Bois d’ Iris.
Today is supposed to be our last hot day, into the 80’s, before a cold front comes through. I’ll be glad for the cool sleeping nights, but miss the warm days.
I got a Chanel magazine in the mail yesterday! That was first. I think they have mistaken me for someone with a bigger wallet than I actually have, lol. I also thought it was a huge waste of paper. But, that’s just me. I’m sure there are others who got who didn’t.
me too!!
No magazine here, but I did get an email from Chanel yesterday inviting me to purchase the new Sycomore EDP coffret. Ten thousand clams! No, thank you very much. 🤣
Got that too…sorry, Chanel, your offerings aren’t compatible with yoga attire…
I love those fancy catalogues! The pages feel so nice, and I love looking at the photo shoots and spreads that people spent thousands of dollars on. It’s art!
But yes, I always wonder what about my spending habits makes those catalogues arrive at my door. Must be my Costco membership and Target purchases.
Once in a while I do get those Chanel magazines.
I once received a Hermes magazine. I felt like the fanciest person in town!
I’m terrible at pairing perfume with music/musicians, so my own CP for the week is “stuff I haven’t worn in ages”. Today’s entry is Diptyque Fleur de Peau, which reminds me of a day of packing up my grandmother’s things with my sisters when two of us happened to be wearing it. Scent memory is so interesting.
Always a good CP 🙂
Robin invented Smell Like A Pirate Day yesterday, which seemed like a pretty good thing, so I’m in the closest acceptable thing, L’Artisan L’Eau du Navigateur, which is meant to be the smell of a cargo ship and all its bounty from exotic ports — rum, coffee, spices, woods, tobacco, incense, resins, and more besides.
That’s a real thing. And boy did we make a big deal out of Pirate Day the years I worked at Disney! The coffers were full from Pirates of the Carribean.
SOTD is the always beautiful, always loved Indochine.
Twins! 😊
I honestly think a Pirate would smell better than the place I am LOL.
hahaha 😀
Such a great scent!
I’m still wearing transitional fragrances. Today it’s Chanel Sycomore. We are having those lovely fall days with cool mornings and sunny afternoons.
I am still getting used to retirement. Went for a long walk with a friend yesterday and finished a book. It was lovely but still feels funny– I now have no more excuses: I have time to clean my house and to exercise and to finish those projects!
Your excuse can be ” I’m retired I can do what I want!” 😀
I did that for a full year after retiring — took me that long to get it out of my system!
It’s gonna take me a while to adjust, too.
Ha – thanks, lillyjo!
You smell wonderful and no excuses needed to do whatever you want:) Enjoy!
Thanks, allo. It’s weird, but nice!
You smell wonderful!
Thanks, ringthing!
I missed that you retired–congrats!!! How wonderful!
And you smell great 🙂
Thanks, Koyel!
Saw Ani DeFranco years ago when I lived in Asheville. My boyfriend at the time was a fan, but I had never really heard of her, being a midwestern headbanger from birth. The show was fabulous and I’m so glad he talked me into it. I also still have a walking-hiking stick he found for me. It’s very straight and sturdy, about 1-1/2” to 2” round, fits my hand perfectly, and the pièce de résistance is the thick vine that had embedded itself all along the length to make a beautifully symmetrical swirl.
Twinning with apsara in Indochine today.
Overall, not a bad haul from an ex 😉
In a mélange of this (O, Unknown!) and that (Bois d’Encens) as I’m doing some decanting for the swapmeet.
It’s so fun to connect with the NST community in this way and I always learn so much from others’ tastes and perfume knowledge.
So glad!
Checked the Upton site–not the James Taylor I thought it would be!
Does the tea really have a crisp evergreen nuance? If so, it’s probably not MY cup of tea 😉
Moon Bloom today, since I discovered a dwindling travel spray upon tidying the shelves in the powder room.
Evergreen sounds good to me. Also, the ginger carrot beetroot one.
Same here, not *that* James Taylor.
I mixed with cacao nibs + nutmeg + splash of milk. Any crisp evergreen nuance was lost on me.
In Encens Divin today, another of the incense scents (inscents?) sent to me by a kind NSTer who helped me better understand my tastes around the note.
I’ve worn this one before–I know I have, thanks to my handy dandy SOTD spreadsheet–but I guess I didn’t get it until today. It’s really beautiful! I wish it were a touch drier, but this scent is gorgeous. It reminds me of something I smelled early on in my perfume journey, probably back in 2015 or so–maybe a Lubin? But I can’t quite recall.
That one was super potent and syrupy on me, definitely something to be worn in the depths of winter. I will try it again this year, only wore it once last year and it scared me off.
I wore Angel Eau Croisiere yesterday and still smell it today. After a shower, I’ll put on the original Commes des Garcons for that deep clove note I’m craving. Have a great day, everyone.
TM has a way of hanging around 🙂
Masque Lost Alice for me today. I think this is my favourite of the bunch. Milky, with carrot, tea, something nutty. Every time I take a sniff, it smells a bit different. I love when a perfume seems to tell a little story.
Ok, I was just looking up Lost Alice because you make it sound great, and I find myself very confused. I thought Masque Milano made little bottles of extrait de parfum, but I now find that they make up to 100 mL bottles of eau de parfum. Did I miss something? Did they change all their formulations?
(In any case, Lost Alice sounds fun!)
They have some available in 100ml, but I believe all of them are available in 35 ml.
And if I’ve tried some MM scents in stores and enjoyed them, would they have been the EDP?
I think all of them are edp.
Did a BBC1 TV marathon yesterday for HMEII funeral and found the second much more intimate service at St George’s Chapel Windsor very moving, also the singke floral tribute on the coffin was perfect, I thought.
Today, perfumed myself with Roger&Gallet Bois d’Orange at the drugstore, I’m so glad this great orange perfume is still in the line-up of the revamped collection and so is Fleur d’Osmanthus.
I keep hoping that now that R&G has streamlined and repackaged, they’ll find a good US distributor 🙂
Fingers crossed that it happens soon.
Bois d’Orange is beautiful. Isn’t that a Dominique Ropion?
It’s not credited to anyone on Fragrantica so I don’t know.
Thank you to everyone for comforting me yesterday. I read all the comments and responded.
Mr. AP took one look at me after he came home and said he knew why I was a mess.
I held my arms up in a little square shape and lost it.
Yup. 1,000 worse. I got our pup for my father 15 1/2 years ago.
Today is a kinda new day. Mr. AP is out for the night and I am going to make fun things happen.
Song-“I Hold On”
Dierks Bentley’s birthday…whenever.😊
Got me through losing Dad, even though it was an older track.
Thank you all! Hugs back!
O and I uncovered some interesting perfumes! West Side by Bond, a few old Serge’s , old L’Artisans, Shanghai Killian set.
Dad was good to me.
Sending you positive thoughts <3
Thank you. Comfort is really needed.
I just now saw your post – sending more hugs – it is so hard to say goodbye, even if it’s only for a while.
Thank you. Please. More hugs. My neighbor just stopped me to talk about another neighbor who died the same day, 2 years apart. No one remembered my father, but I piped up. Nicely. It was actually a very nice conversation.
Diptyque Vetyverio
I can be a day late, but smell like a sophisticated pirate in Lubin’s Idole EdP. I’ll find out if people at work think I’ve hitting the rum 🙂
Yum! Hope nobody thought you were drunk.
Enjoying Lyric extrait on this breezy sunny day. So looking forward to fall!
Me too! I need to smell that one. It gets regular love here. The only Amouage I have is Fate.
Lyric extrait is gorgeous but too expensive for me.
Ahhh you smell amazing.
IUNX L’Ether…to me it smells like sweet black licorice…must be the maple syrup note…one of my absolute favorites and the bottle is extraordinary…like a black shiny teardrop…the juice comes out of the top of the teardrop..there are photos on fragrantica in the fragram section
You smell fab! 😉
Thank you! You know there’s something about it which reminds me of L’Eau de Kasaneka…which is long thunked..but I kept the bottle because it’s so beautiful
What a cool bottle and great line of fragrances! At first I thought you were talking about IUNX travel size but yours is clearly different.
As a side note, I “accidentally” bought 3 travel size refills of IUNX Talc but don’t have a travel container so I’ve had to do a makeshift sprayer. It works but clearly not as intended:)
Yes isn’t that bottle amazing? Makes a great pillow for the cat LOL
Talc is beautiful…even if you don’t have the travel container! If I am not mistaken I think the line is discontinued?
It is discontinued – another great perfume loss.
Sadly it’s been a little while since I’ve commented other than on the swap meet. I did wear ELDO all last week though. 😀 And today I’m in Neroli Outrenoir and happily getting more of it in a swap.
I’ve had more social (albeit work) events this past week than I’ve had in years. Last Wednesday my work had a BBQ during the workday to help encourage remote employees to come in to the office and just because it used to be an annual event. The food was great! I’m not going in to the office regularly since it isn’t required, but I have gone in here and there about 7 or 8 my times since my first day “back” on June 1st. Also last Wednesday, a project team I was on had a happy hour at a nearby pub to celebrate the implementation of our new program. And that was a really fun and funny time. Then this Saturday, we participated in the annual World Cleanup Day, which meant my partner and I want to my office and cleaned up trash from the neighboring streets for a couple hours with fellow employees and their families. Two hours goes by so fast when you’re cleaning up and chatting! Bonus is it was a beautiful day although windy.
Anyway, doing social things has been good for my introverted tendencies. And my partner went to a concert Saturday night after the cleanup, so I had an evening to myself to chill and watch a silly movie.
Your package went out today! 🙂
Thank you! Just sent you an email. 😀
That sounds like a fun group of activities…and being likewise introverted, strongly approve of ending the week with chill + movie 🙂
Wearing Deneuve for my first day back at work.
Hope the first day back wasn’t too painful!
In Jil Sander Sun Delight today, which is a good transitional frag, despite the name making it seem like a summer only scent. Starts with citrus, passionfruit, and frangipani, and dries down into vanilla and milk chocolate.
Tea today is black tea with coconut chips because the coconut works with both sides of Sun Delight.
Oh, that does sound like a fun scent!
Hey all! I’m in a mixture of things I’m probably going to swap away. I like to give them one last test before we part.
I got back from a little vacation a while ago in Kentucky and SW Ohio. Wow the area around Lexington is beautiful!!! Rolling hills, horse farms with long fences, charming old towns. We stayed at a B&B on a horse farm, and it was so fun. Horses are Big Business around there, that’s for sure. I hope they enjoy racing, since that’s what they’re bred to do, but how would we be able to tell? I don’t know how I feel about that. Anyway, we also visited a bourbon distillery and learned a lot about that process too! Hoo boy I do not have a taste for the stuff all on its own yet. Mixed with something else? Absolutely!
And then, we visited the city in OH where my dad grew up, that I hadn’t been to since my grandfather died in the ’90s. It’s much more run down than it used to be, but I hope it will come back someday. I did finally try Skyline Chili when we passed through Cincinnati, and my dad and I loved it! My mom not so much 😅. I think it was the cinnamon.
Hope y’all are having a good week!
What a great trip, Socks! Note to self to explore Lexington a bit sometime – we’ve driven through it many, many times! Thanks for the good report; I love car travel overall, in spite of the tedious aspects.
Yes, you should definitely go sometime! It’s probably only a few hours away from you. Driving on those narrow country roads is a bit nerve-wracking, but worth it!
What city? My dad’s family was all from Dayton.
Yes, Dayton!! How funny! Do you ever go back there? My dad still goes to his high school reunions (Roosevelt).
Hi socks, I’m from Dayton myself! I was there up until 2001 when I graduated high school and left for college, though I did spend a couple more summers there with my parents. And pretty much all my family still lives there, so I get back every couple years or so. I’m definitely familiar with your dad’s alma mater.
And I also find it kinda sad to see now the areas that used to be more vibrant. There’s been some revitalization downtown, however, the neighborhood where I grew up is in a sad state. Things weren’t helped any when a tornado hit back in 2019 (or 2018?).
Oh cool, another Daytonian! Yeah it was so interesting to go back there after so long; I really only remembered the building where my grandparents used to live, and a few other places. We drove around to see my dad’s old neighborhoods and had quite the shock to discover that the duplex they moved to when he was in high school is gone–it’s now an empty lot! And it’s so sad that the beautiful old Roosevelt HS building was demolished. I wish they could have saved it. But, yes I’m hoping things will get better there eventually. I wonder if young people might start moving back now that so many jobs can be done remotely; I think less expensive cities will benefit from that.
No, I was only there once in my life, in junior high…so can’t say I know it! But I do still have some family there, and keep thinking some day I’ll go.
Hey, I’m from Dayton! You learn something new every day!
I’m wearing Angel Muse today. It seemed like a good idea before I sprayed it on but it is much too sweet on me today. Maybe it needs cooler weather? It’s 86F here and quite humid.
I think it shines in with cooler temperatures.
I had pizza with pepperoni (and other things) yesterday, so I missed National Pepperoni Pizza Day by a day. Trying to get all my tasks done today…
SOTD = back in SB Bohemian Rhapsody. Getting less cola and a bit more incense today.
You’re just advanced! 🤣 Me? I don’t even think I’ve ever had pepperoni pizza in this house.
Good luck with the tasks!
Interesting notes, cola and incense!
SOTD = Dior Vanilla Diorama
I have the cute 40mL (?) bottle with a classy magnetic cap!

I was going to write about disgusting habits women have in the restroom but I will save that and likely never bring it to light. The only thing I’ll say is, even though this is not disgusting, I heard someone who sounded like an adult ask “May I use any of these stalls?” Seriously?
I see every day the gross habits of people in public restrooms.
One I can’t understand is why put 9000 pieces of paper towels in a toilet? Why?!!?
See, this is so strange to me! When I’m helping LOL (little old ladies) at work, I give them plenty of tissue to do the job. However, they will tear off ONE TINY SQUARE and hand the rest back. And then, when I hand them a wet washcloth for their hands, they look at me like “What’s that for?” On the other hand, LOM (little old men) will go in a urinal while in bed, never wash or wipe their hands, plop the urinal down on their over bed table, splashing urine all over the table, their false teeth, and everything else they’ve stored there. I won’t even go into the spitters…🤮
I hereby declare you the winner of the most descriptive of all things that haunt disgusting nightmares. 😱😱😱
Well, geez, I have so much more I could to share! Lol! 🤣
Well, if the toilet is not flushing well, that’s the only way to hide evidence…
People are so gross! I work in a public building, and we have stories. I’m so glad we have two employees-only bathrooms!
It’s been quite the stormy day here. My sotd is Lancome Oud Bouquet. 2 half sprays and I am good for 24 hours with this one.
My sotd Dune makes us “wearing a scent that lasts all day” twins, so that’s a thing, right?! 🙂
Hoping you get some good rain! So dry everywhere…
Sure did! Basement even flooded! At least it’s not snow.
Oh no! Not THAT much….😕
SotD vintage Dune edt. I did a few dabs in the mid-morning, and Dune followed me almost the whole day.
A few drops of Dune lasts forever on me too. It also projects pretty good. I once oversprayed Dune and it made me dizzy.
Isn’t it amazing how potent some perfumes are? With just a little dab!
Wearing Dior Addict today. I booked my appointment for my booster shot! Very excited to get it! We are tentatively booked for our Florida trip; we are driving down, after my hubby’s brother’s BIG birthday. Should arrive mid-October-ish!
That seems like a really really long drive! Are you staying through the winter?
Its going to be a long drive, but will take our time. At least we will have our own car. Renting is tricky and expensive for that long. Plan on staying thru the end of March!
Woo-hoo! 🌞
Adding.. my hubby just googled it would take us 41 days to walk it..
