It's Monday and World Turtle Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
My plans for Summer 2022 include lots of biking, preferably alongside water (luckily, we have a number of great places near me), if only the weather will cooperate. The best fragrance for biking in summer is probably none, but I'm in Parfum d'Empire Azemour Les Orangers just for the "summer outdoors" feeling.
Reminder: 5/27 is the start of Memorial Day weekend in the US. On Monday, we'll observe Memorial Day, but for today, we're celebrating the holiday's other meaning, as the unofficial beginning of summer. (In olden times, you could only wear white shoes between Memorial Day and Labor Day.) Wear something that fits your plans for Summer 2022! (If it's winter where you are, adjust accordingly.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I am off to the dentist and very nervous. I couldn’t eat breakfast
I will report back if I pick a SOTD later
Oh no,😰 I feel ya, ltsg! Sending you all my good vibes and wishes this morning!
It will be over soon, hang in there ltsg, sending a fragrant hug your way.
I feel ya — I’ve got to try to make an appointment with my dentist asap, since I’ve had a raging toothache since Friday (it couldn’t happen midweek, naturally).
Hope it all goes well, and quickly!
Fridays are Mondays in disguise.
These days, I consider myself lucky if any doctor’s office even calls me back after I leave a message. But, “Your call is important to us…..” 🙁
I hope it goes better than expected!
Good luck. You got this 👍
Hope it is all over by now! Or very soon…
Good luck! I can sympathize — I have to have a crown installed later this week, by a new dentist (my old dentist sold his practice to her earlier this year), using a new-to-me process, and I’m apprehensive.
Bon courage! Hope it goes well.
You can do it!
Big hugs, LTSG! Hope it went well.
I hope it went well! I just had yet another crown done so I’m feeling your dental angst.
Hope that your dentist visit went well!
I’m in OJ Tiare, the last of a sample.
Today is the first day of my staycation, and it is beautiful out!🌞 A little bit on the cool side but it’s not raining, so I’ll take it. I’m planning to switch up my perfume tray today. Put away some of the heavier perfumes and dig out some summer scents.
I’ve got: the no 5 sisters Eau Premiere and L’eau, Paris Biarritz, Jardins Sur Le Nil and Mediterranee, Dune, Bergamote 22, Carnal Flower, Dear Polly, TF Eau de Soleil Blanc, Eau des Merveilles, Teracotta, Sol de Janeiro and samples of 125th& Bloom and Guerlain Neroli Outrenoir to try. Seems like a fairly well rounded list. I’ve got some citrus, some florals and some beachies. What are your summer must haves?
Oops! Forgot OJ Champaca and Art Meets Art Like a Virgin LE.
What a gorgeous day for a staycation! Un Jardin Sur le Nil and L’Artisan Seville l’Aube are summer staples of mine. I wear Dune all year. You have a great list! I like Bulgari in warm weather too, Omnia Crystalline, and I’ve acquired Aqua Divina from a generous NSTer which I think will be good.
It really is gorgeous today! Supposed to be tomorrow too, then rain just in time for my travel days. Oh well.
Art Meets Art is my orange blossom, I tried Seville l’Aube and got corn tortillas! Isn’t that weird. lol. I would love to smell it on someone else, I bet it’s great!
It’s 58 here with a beautiful blue sky!
For Summer I love Chance eau Vive (my sotd) No.5 L’Eau. Alien eau Sublime. Orange Sanguine.. the list goes on and on..
Nice! 55 here.😎
Oh yes, Chance Eau Vive, I remember you mentioning that one before. I’ll try and get a free sample at Sephora when I stop in next!
Nice list. Mine is No 5 L’eau, Paris-Deauville, Daisy, Pulp, Gabrielle Essence, Kai, Montale Rose Elixir, Fox in the Flowerbed, She Was An Anomaly and Dame Cassis, Rose and Sandalwood. The last one I am wearing today.
That’s a great list too! Love Kai, and I really need to try She Was an Anomaly, sounds right up my alley. Like a my skin but better scent, right?
I like it though I am not usually an iris fan. It is woody and floral.
Hi madtowngirl — happy staycation!
Just wanted to follow up briefly on my email from the splitmeet — did you get it? Want to make sure I typed your email address correctly before I send money there. Thanks!
Glad you checked! Yes, I did but it went to my junk. Just emailed you now!😀👍🏻
Weird, now I’m not getting your reply, and I checked my junk mail folder. Hmm.
Uh oh, ok, I just sent you another reply.
Scent twins! Sounding thrilled since this rarely happens on my side. The sun has disappeared today, and so am simply pretending I am on a tropical isle.
Hey twin!🙌 You smell beautiful! I’ll try and send some sun your way.
Nice collection!
We both share the love for
eau de Soleil Blanc.
Bronze Goddess Eau Fraîche is nice and beachy. I love Coconut Lime Verbena, too. Always had that.
Citrus- I just tried Trefle Pur and that’s a fun citrus I’ll use. Goutal’s Hadrien always does the job. And there’s a VS Bombshell summer one a few years back I stocked up on.
A few off the top of my head. A lot of BBW or VS oldies work great. 😊
Thanks AnniePerfumes! Yes, Eau de Hadrien is great, I’d forgotten about that one. Have you ever tried Acqua Viva from Profumum? That’s a great lemon too.
Never tried that one. Doh! I love that line. Now, I have to! 📌
Have a wonderful staycation! Your list of summer scents is great 🙂 I like some of the softer Dames for summer, and Dyptique l’Eau de Tarocco, the Berdoues Grand Cru series, and the Hermessences.
Thanks Koyel! I’ve never heard of that Diptyque, I’ll have to check it out. I like their Oyedo for summer but sadly it did not last long on me.
Summer must haves: Wrappings, incense perfumes galore, Guerlain Terracotta, and possibly Hermes Eau de Neroli Dore. Gotta think that last one over…
Hmmm…
I think we have similar tastes. What incense-y ones?
(Makes list)
SSS Incense Pure and AG Encens Flamboyant for starters. I have some samples of incense perfumes that I have yet to try, such as Smell Bent’s Incensed. Since SB is on the way out, though, including that is kind of not fair.
Good morning.
Sotd is the new Miss Dior Rose Essence. A pale pink rose with a light woody base.
I am not ready for a new week 😅
I was not ready either!
My husband surprised me with a couple of nights at our favorite B&B on Lake Michigan for our 38th anniversary on Wednesday. So I’m wearing vintage Coco for the next few days.
Lovely! What part of Lake Michigan, if I may ask. My h and I are looking at spending a few nights in Marquette while madtownteen is away at camp.
Happy Anniversary!🥂 and you smell great!
No, this is in St Joseph, clear down the mitten. Marquette is gorgeous! I’ve only been to the Upper Peninsula a couple of times, we want to go back soon. Have you ever been to Tahquamenon Falls? They have a great train/ferry trip called the Toonerville Trolley and the couple that has run it over 50 years are retiring this fall. I would love to go back.
No, I’ve never been there. Googled it and it does look beautiful.
Happy Anniversary!
You smell perfect!
Thanks 😊
Very nice 💕
Thank you!
Yay for husband! Love this post and love your fragrance. All is well if you are celebrating 38 years of marriage in vintage Coco.
Aww thanks 😊
Lovely, a very happy anniversary to you both!
Thank you! 😊
Oh how sweet of him! I hope you have a wonderful time. 💜
Sounds lovely! Enjoy!
Happy Anniversary – that is very romantic and Coco is perfect!
Happy Anniversary and yay for vintage Coco!
How wonderful – have a great time!
What a sweet surprise!
Aww, how sweet 🙂 Have a wonderful time, and happy almost-anniversary!
What a nice surprise! Congrats on the anniversary!
Happy Anniversary!! Enjoy! 🥂
Happy Anniversary! What a nice surprise.
Happy Anniversary! And major Spousal Points for your husband with that surprise. 😉
Had a very unpleasant day yesterday that made me wish I was back in the woods.
1) A driver slumped over her steering wheel, engine running, turn signal on, at a stop sign. Toddler in the passenger seat, no seat belt on. 😭
2) At a local park, parked and I’m in the back of the van surfing the net when I hear a big commotion next to me. Look out and some guy is knocking his girlfriend around, throwing beer bottles out his window, and screeching at her while smacking and punching her with a steady stream of cursing flowing. Ugh! Just ugh!
I’m in SL Bois de Vanille in attempts to get zen. Jeez, can’t wait to get out of here! I’ll take bears and cougars over that kind of stuff any day.
Ugh, that is horrible, Deva!
Dang Deva, I’m sorry.
I hope you can get back to the woods soon.
That is awful. Where are you at?
I’m in Tacoma WA to get some credentialing done. Will only be here a couple days, I hope! I had to get “involved” in the case of car/kid issue. Did I tell you I hate to get “involved”? Lol, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do!
Agree, “involved” is almost never a good thing. You are very brave (even if also annoyed), and to be commended.
More distressed than annoyed, really. And not really brave but very worried about that adorable little girl in the passenger seat. 😢
I wondered when I read that one. “If you see something, say something.” Of course you did the right thing and good for you.👍🏻 I hate to presume but this sounds like classic heroin overdose. So sad.😢 Poor kiddo.
Oh my goodness. Wherever you are, I am glad I am not there too. Hope you find a better location soon.
Sorry you are going through all of that! Hope you can move on soon.
Ah, Tacoma. I lived there (well, commuted there but had a place there that I used all week) for two years. There are some lovely parts of Tacoma but you REALLY have to know where they are.
I hope mother and toddler are okay — know how you feel about getting involved, as I feel the same way, but I feel like I’d have to, too.
There are definitely some gorgeous areas. The park I was at is one of my favorite spots. Everything was in bloom and screaming “SPRING!” I think all the yahoos were out yesterday and I was destined to cross paths with some of them. 🤷🏻♀️
Tacoma is a rough town. Hope you can find a more agreeable location soon!
I don’t know anything about it, but I thought “Deva is not in a good part of town!”
Big hugs, Deva! Very sorry to hear this…glad you helped the poor toddler. 🙁
I’m glad you did what you did. Perhaps you were better off with the Boy Scouts troop!
Sorry to hear that! I hope you and T-Rex are out of there soon!
Oh my goodness, how upsetting! Glad that you were able to help though, Deva.
I get why you didn’t want to get involved, but I am glad that you intervened in the case of that girl in the back seat.
I’m not too into layering perfumes, figuring I’ll leave the alchemy to the experts. But this AM I applied both Boy edp (which wears more like a cologne) and Haute Provence cologne (which wears more like an edp), and feel like I am in a perfect hum of early summer lavender.
Nice!! Sometimes it is worth experimenting a little.
Hello fragrant friends! I am back from two weeks in the South Pacific. Still working on getting my ‘land legs’ back after all that time on a ship, lol. And de-jet-lagging, too; the time change is not all that much (3 hours for me, same as Hawaii) but we flew a red-eye home and that never goes well in my brain.
Glad to be back, though, and the cat is happy! happy! happy! to see us.
Off to the post office to hopefully pick up a package of perfume that arrived while we were away. One of my splitmeet offerings is in that box, I hope…!
I feel like I did the CP for the last 2 weeks, ha. My Mugler colognes were the scents I wore the most, though DK Woman and Kilian Love and Tears worked well too.
This was the Antartica trip? Hope it was everything you expected. Welcome home!
Nope, South Pacific this time. Tahiti / Tuamoto Archipelago / Marquesas. Awesome.
Wow, that sounds awesome.
Best/favorite part of the trip?
Gorgeous islands and atolls, fabulous snorkeling. Super fun.
Another inquiring mind here – what were your favorite sights? Did you get any fabulous souvenirs or learn a new cuisine?
I’ve wanted to see the Marquesas for ages, and they did not disappoint. Souvenirs, ha, well… some Tahitian pearls of course (the inexpensive ones bought direct from locals, not the eye-watering expensive ones from jewelers), and some gorgeous wood carvings.
Welcome back! Your trip sounds wonderful! 🤩
I’m in a smorgasbord of Smell Bent today, trying to decide what other full bottles I want to grab (waited too long on Prairie Nymph, unfortunately). I must say, he nailed the contrast of hot and cold scents with Hot and Cold.
I’m at the office today, so my tea this morning is Twining’s English Breakfast. Later I’ll switch to some bags of herbal tea that I have stashed here, including a lovely-sounding linden, elderflower, and apple tea from Paper & Tea. I’m stopping by Chanel store on the way home, so I need to decide what to test while I’m there.
Smell Bent is one brand I better hop on! You make them sound so good!
I haven’t spent a ton of time with them (they’ve been on my “to explore” list for a while, and their closing announcement bumped them to the top of that list). From the ones I have tried, they are all “as advertised” meaning, I can pick out almost all of the notes in the description, and I don’t get other notes creeping in. And they have all been linear on me (which again, seems to be as advertised).
I like linear, too. I’m all over the map.
Thank you, Vee. 📌
I waited too long for Bollywood or Bust. But I really didn’t want to do a blind buy now, so I think it’s for the best.
SOTD: I started the day with Tokyo Bloom from a sample, but it’s gone, and gone rapidly. I don’t love the faint remainder, so might thunk it prematurely. Might go with Un Jardin Sur le Nil next; it sounds just right.
Current read: The Sentence by Louise Erdrich. Enjoying it very much!
Tea: Harney White Vanilla Grapefruit
Inclination: In the mood to throw away all the things – plumbing issues, bath remodeling, chaos reigns. I’m not targeting perfume things, but even that category strikes me as needing curation.
Oh, I LOVE Louise Erdrich! Didn’t know she had a new one out, I’ll have to pick it up.
I get those moods too, when my life feels out of control, I want to assert myself by throwing things out. This panics my husband, who is a pack rat. LOL.
That is so funny! I absolutely do the same thing with trying to control Something – really Anything – but I hadn’t thought about it that way this time. Ha, so much for self-awareness!
And my husband is also a pack rat. It’s an inherited problem, and really, hints abounded. I might have paid attention.
I get these moods too. The difference is, *I’m* the packrat (also inherited) so it is self-created stress. I find it really helps to fully declutter and then deep clean one room (usually the kitchen), and that will start a chain of decluttering other rooms over the next few days.
Robin, you smell gorgeous, of course — Azemour is a top-five favorite for me. I’m in SMN Eva, another shared favorite, and it’s another lovely day here. We will allegedly have nice weather for a couple more days, and then the rains return through the weekend. Not that I mind too awfully much — the yard is very lush and happy with all the moisture this spring.
Ha, and of course Eva is gorgeous! And they are nearly cousins.
Carnationy sort of day — you know how it is sometimes — so I showered with Roger & Gallet Oeillet Mignardise soap and then put on a spritz of CdG Carnation.
That sounds like such a lovely Carnationy combo.
Near twins with Robin — I wore Azemour yesterday, as I was outside all afternoon in a big urban park with a photographer who was trying to help me learn to shoot wildlife with a real camera (the lesson was birthday gift from the spouse prior to going on safari). Azemour seemed the fit. Mostly we just shot very tame, slow wildlife (ducks, geese, raccoons), but I was amazed to discover that there’s a huge heron colony right where the park borders the city. I think most people walking through had no idea, but if you look up, there are 50-75 giant nests in the trees. How have I lived here 20 years and not known that?
Anyway, I’m not sure anyone’s going to call my photos professional any time soon, but if I can get one good sleeping leopard or something when we go, I’ll be happy. 🙂
Victoria Day here, so just hanging around the house. No SOTD yet. Hoping to get to the nursery today; was planning to go Saturday during Ockeghem Tween’s running practice, but then she decided not to go after having run two meets in the last week. So maybe SOTD will be soil. 🙂
What a great gift!
2nd that! Fantastic idea.
What a great way to spend the day! And yeah, awesome gift.
A few rays of sun before the rain moves in again. Wearing Spell 125 and trying to remain zen.
Ugh. More rain.
Also, meant to share this lovely story on professional baseball players’ penchant for perfume:
“For games and practice — yes, Valdez also sprays himself for those — he said he uses a refreshing, tropical scent. But he uses a softer one when he isn’t pitching. When he goes out with his teammates, he has a third option that he described as “very intense.”
Asked if they helped him pitch better, Valdez, a key piece of an Astros team that reached the World Series last season, responded without hesitation, “Of course.”
Pérez, now 32, felt the same way about his old Victoria’s Secret perfume. Escobar, now 35 and with the Nationals, and Pérez said they first came across the floral scent at a nearby mall in Kansas City and the company subsequently sent them the perfume for years after the players’ usage became public.”

Didn’t look to see the cp, but I’m compliant!
I opened the bottle of Trefle Pur that I put up for split, since it was a blind buy. Why not find out what it smells like?
Turns out, I love it! It reminds me of Goutal’s Hadrien and Hermes Eau d’Orange Verte, both staples for my summer.
And, any recs for a palo santo perfume?
Robin, can we edit our split meets? Just comment below?
Thanks!
Top palo santo fragrance is DSH Be the Shaman.
Thank you, cazaubon. Talk about needing Zen.
Smell Bent 1997 is a palo santo scent. It has a rough edge but a nice amber glow.
Thank you! Amber glow sounds lovely, too.
Sorry I am back here so late, but you can’t edit. You can, however, send me an email and I can edit it for you?
I just got back from jury duty. My choice of scent was courtroom friendly, Trefle Pur.
Twin!
Hope jury duty was painless.
I had some medical tests today but I sprayed a bit of Chance eau Vive before I left. Now I am back and sprayed more.
When I saw it is World Turtle day, I immediately thought of this Norm Macdonald joke told on Conan.
https://youtu.be/DIsgBAXQxR4
Norm!
Hope all went well, lillyjo!
😄at the joke and hope your tests went well.
Thank you!!
Hey Robin.. Netflix is releasing a new Norm special next Monday. It will be called Nothing Special. Apparently he recorded it in his apartment during the lock down. He asked his production partner to release it after he was gone. It will also feature a tribute by fellow comedians and friends.
I just know I will cry and laugh too.
Thank you!! Will add to my watch list and then maybe wait for a good time, because I will probably cry too!
LOL.
Hope your tests went well!
I hope your tests are all good. Love the Norm…Talk about laugh! That’s great.
I thought you would like this one👍🤣
Fingers and toes crossed that all your tests come out fine!
Hope they went well!
Thanks everyone! Hopefully will know next week.
Joining with late finger crossing for “unremarkable” test results.
All Zoologist scents except Bee are still available in my split!
Like ltsg, I had a dental appointment this morning, and I have a cavity. Ugh. I’m wearing TF Fleur de Chine from a decant someone sent me. It’s one of those no-brainer, pretty scents.
So sorry about the cavity foxbins!
Boo on the cavity!
Had to share this: I just got an ad on Instagram asking “Losing Control of You Wine Collection?” — LOL, they are way off in trying to target me and my handful of rando wine bottles. But my next thought was: hmm, I wonder if this could be retro fitted to track perfume samples, because yeah, I’ve definitely lost control there. 🙂
That is funny! At least they didn’t say “losing control of your wine drinking?” 🙂
I was wondering why I was seeing so many purple ads and realized my 1500th post was this, which you already saw (but too cute not to share):
https://www.instagram.com/p/Cd1HlLVuoFr/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
Oh, that *is* adorable!
That’s too cute!
*waves*
Happy Monday!
1) SOTD: Wonderland Peony from Floral Street, from the sample pack. Just easy and delightful.
2) This weekend was just beautiful – low to mid 70s (20-23c) here in Portland. I did ride my e bike for a 10 mile loop- and it was FANTASTIC! Quick review:
Numbers: I bought a DTC brand called Gen3 (honestly with many e bikes, there are just a number of super sturdy, good builds, then distributors slap a brand on them and sell them throughout the world) for $999 with free shipping , then assembled and had it looked over by a bike mechanic (the service was $145). Not cheap but way more affordable than $1700-2500 for other ‘budget’ e bikes.
Build: Very solid aluminum frame, and heavy with the battery, motor and rack. This is a not carbon fiber racing build at all!
Use: After a few minutes, easy and inuitive. You pedal as normal, with the motor on at 0, then once you want a bit of assistance, yu increase. There is a initial ‘kick’ as the motor sets in, but then it is very smooth.
I have only used PAS 1&2 (pedal assist) and it is more than enough to get up hills while pedalling. There is also a throttle- to ride without pedalling- but frankly if you want to do that, buy a Vespa or Buddy moped.
So far, so great! I highly recommend getting a well built affordable e bike if this is within your wishlist and budget.
3) Because of the sunshine, I got to the overgrown garden (my poor seedling basically drowned in the previous month’s rain) and cleaned out and tidied up the garage, staging the remaining trim for installation starting next week!
Someone’s in love with her e-bike!
How heavy is it and where do you park it?
Are you able to bike to work?
Oh I just love it!
I keep it in the garage, which has power outlets and which is locked.
The bike is HEAVY- 55 pounds but once you are on it, it feels comfortable and sturdy.
I am in the office 2x a week for onsite network duties, so I am going to give it a try with commuting!
My bike is even heavier…almost 70 pounds with the battery installed. So I do frequently use the throttle very briefly just to get moving, especially if I’m stopped on a hill. Have also at times found it handy for quickly crossing intersections.
My one regret about the weight is that I didn’t realize what a pain it would be to try to ride with no assistance. The bike is just too heavy and I am too small. So it’s rare I don’t have the assistance on, unless I’m going downhill.
Oof- I have tried those heavier, more powerful bikes and they are really hard to bike with the motor off or on PAS 0!
This nice thing about this particular bike is that the power kicks in once peddling, so when I come to an intersection and then need to go, the power kicks in on the downstroke, so I can zip across more easily.
Mine kicks in quickly too, but it’s still too hard for me without the throttle sometimes. I needed a folding bike, didn’t want to spend a ton of money, so I’ll live with the weight.
Hope you have a great time with yours, and hope it works out for commuting!
Winter plans are to avoid being outsude in the cold! However, that’s not possible, so I’m strengthening my resolve for the walk to work in Sortilège from Le Galion.
Your winter plans sound a lot like my usual winter plans, Gaynor!
But we did do better this past winter about walking after dinner, even if only for a couple blocks.
Just wearing a tiny spray of Bvlgari Au the Bleu.
I am sitting at the emergency room were my doggie Yei was admitted a couple of hours ago. I will go home after I get the results of ultrasound and blood work. I don’t know for how long he will be in the hospital. I am always hoping for the best.
At least the overwhelming heat wave over the weekend is gone and the day is sunny, warm and beautiful. A positive sign that things may be better and brighter!
Have a healthy Monday, everyone!
Big hugs to you and Yei.
Hope you will get some answers about Yei.
Good luck with Yei, stay strong.
Wishing Yei the best and hugs to you pl67.
🙏 for you and Yei. Big hugs.
Best if luck to Yei!
Crossing my fingers for you and Yei <3
Hugs to you and Yei
Hoping for the best for Yei, too!
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! So sorry to hear this. Hugs to you, and best wishes for Yei.
Wishing you and Yei good luck. Sending you hugs!
I hope things went alright with Yei. Sending you a comforting hug!
Aw, poor Yei and poor you! I hope things get better soon! 🐶
In Dusita Moonlight in Chiangmai
You smell amazing!
Had to take the cats to the vet this morning so withheld fragrance due to close corners but just doused myself Reminiscence Dragée…sweet, fruity/floral almondy goodness and I smell great. 🙂
Hopefully the vet visit was uneventful!
Your fragrance sounds so good! I hope the cats are OK.
Spent the day in the easygoing Yardley Jade which smells as always remarkably like Cristalle but this evening it’s Vintage Bal à Versailles, I used to not like it but it is no longer the case.
I had to look up Jade. I have never seen Yardley perfume here. Only a few soaps.
It’s a little sleeper of a perfume, I think they call it Jade something or other now, hopefully it isn’t changed, very sorry to hear that Yardley is not more widely distributed in the US as they are good perfumes for very little money.
BaV is something that requires a very particular state of mind for me. Definitely not a casual, throw-it-on perfume.
Totally agree with you, it’s not casual and it took me a while to discover that I can love it, evenings only I think.
Enjoying my decant of Mxxx today on a cool but otherwise Spring-like day. Too wet to work in the garden, but by tomorrow I hope to get the rest of my plants in the ground. For world turtle day, does anyone else remember seeing PBS’s POV feature called “The Chances of the World Changing?” I just looked it up and saw it was from 2007 – it has stayed with me all this time. It is TV worth watching, IMHO. 😀
I’m reading my way up. All I remember of turtles are the milk chocolate caramel pecans!
🤣
Oh, I love biking too. There are great places here is Europe to cycle!
I´m in Tam Dao, as there are lots of jasmine now in the streets.
You smell great!
SOTD = Parfums Satori Satori
Katsura reminded me of it yesterday! It is fitting for a meditative, contemplative day.
In other news, question for pet owners: Do you walk your dog (or other similar pets) at 1AM? I ask because someone got kidnapped by a stranger who strongly encourages the woman to go with him. All this was caught on a ring camera. Her husband was away and she had 2 kids (don’t have ages) in the house. Both husband and wife work for the same company. This is all I know based on snippets.
When I had a dog in NYC, my scheduled walks were not for 1 a.m., but when intestinal distress strikes them, they have to go out and there you are, walking around with a dog in the middle of the night.
This was what a co-worker said too!
How terrible! I was going to say what foxbins said. We didn’t walk our dog at 1 am, but maybe her dog was having some GI issues and needed to go out.
I haven’t heard the ending . I hope for everyone’s sake that it ended well!
I don’t have to walk my cats outside, but I have had midnight hairball clean ups in the past. Better to deal with it when it happens rather than step in it first thing next morning. Yuck!
This is true … messes, like problems, do not age well!
This is terrible. I pray she is ok.
I hope so … I have not heard an ending yet to the saga.
O my gosh!
Yes. When my girl was doing better, I’d walk her anytime. I’m a night owl and we both loved that time. The only thing I had to be wary of was the coyotes, foxes and whatever else could pop up.
And, I’m a bit naive at times, I didn’t even lock the doors when we’d go. Probably would have done the same thing as that woman. Since a few incidents with the neighborhood creep, doors are always locked and shades drawn.
Do you think the husband…
You know, the thought crossed my mind but that would be a terrible thing if it was the husband. I keep thinking of the woman who faked her own kidnapping …
Ooh. That fake kidnapping was a hot mess here at the time.
Still. It just doesn’t add up. The dog 😢, kids.
So a woman was walking her dog at 1am and was kidnapped? What happened to the dog? And the woman, of course..? Are they missing?
I’ve had to take doggo out at inconvenient times because she was sick. Other than that, no. One last potty break at 9pm (for me and her!😂) and we’re good! I don’t trust anyone. You’d have to kill me to kidnap me, and then you’d have to deal with hauling this fluffy carcass around…I hope both the woman and the dog are okay. Was this in NYC?
Out in the middle of the country somewhere. Don’t know what happened to the dog though. I am having a hard time processing what I heard … maybe I’ll hear more tomorrow.
Today I am wearing Ma Griffe from a bottle I have had for twenty years; I am trying to use it up.
I just got back from ten days in Europe and wanted to share the samples I took with me. Lancôme Mielle et Un Roses (thunked en route), crown stephanotis, smellbent walk of shame oil, Attar Bazaar Egyptian Musk Oil, Dame Perfumery soliflore osmanthus, small rollerball of Mark Jacobs Daisy. They all worked well. It was a group tour with lots of bus travel, so I mostly dabbed, although the Lancôme was a spray.
I was sad to see that Smell Bent is closing.
How exciting. I can’t imagine traveling outside of the U.S. just yet. Hope you had a good time!
Thank you. It was a group church trip, and in ten days we went to Prague, Budapest, Vienna, the Passion Play at Oberammergau, and Munich. Just highlights of each city, but it gave me ideas for what to do when I (I hope!) go back.
My sisters and I were booked on an Oberammergau trip with Tauck July 2020 and you know what happened. My sister rebooked for July this year and cancelled again. I think the next one os on 8 years but who knows if they are sticking to an “every 10 years” schedule.
Never been to Prague but I just saw chimney cones on Reddit and now I want one!
Glad you were able to go.

Happy Birthday to Robert Moog, inventor of the Moog synthesizer!
Sweet weather relief rolled in here last night. Today’s temps are much nicer, and there was even some sun! Not bad for a Monday.
SOTD = Chanel No. 5 L’Eau EdT. Back in this again after a weekend spent in Hermes Eau de Neroli Dore EdC. That one will be very welcome when the summer muggies return!
Disco! I’ve got that one on vinyl in her Greatest Hits.
You smell great today! I saw that heatwave on the news over the weekend, and snow in Colorado! Crazy. Glad your temps are better today.
LOL! My brother sent me a picture of the snow in his front yard last week. It’s long gone, but snow on Memorial Day is not unknown out there in CO.
Woot! You smell good!
Thank you!
I got a little more painting in this afternoon. My attempts at model assembly this weekend were a Fail, though. Back to the drawing board on that.
Glad you got a nice day today!
Thanks! Temps are going to be rather nice here for the next week. It might be a little squishy, though. 🤷♀️
I expected Metallica!
Good luck with the painting. It feels good to get back in the groove of something you love.
No Metallica today! I almost posted New Order’s “Blue Monday”, but I’ve done that one recently.
Painting is going well! So far, I have completed touch-up and/or finish work on 3 miniatures. Most of what I am messing with is between 25mm and 28mm.
Fou d’Opium today. I am sure that my summer will involve reaching for perfumes I already own
Love some of those Opium flankers!
It’s actually a DSH scent to recreate vintage Opium
I just took a banana bread out if the oven. We are back to cool temps today after a sunny, warm almost summer-ish day yesterday.
Wearing some Initio Side Effect from my sample.
Yum! Banana bread!
I’m thinking of a bottle of Side Effect. It reminds me so much of the classic Opium.
So you smell fabulous.
Are we twins? I have a bottle of Side Effect!
I don’t have a bottle, just started with a sample. Someone super generous gave me a decant…long gone. But, I have it in about 5 different carts, as I type.🤣
I haven’t been good at making time or remembering to comment here the last week, but I did wear perfumes with honey notes all last week. Honey is probably one of my favorite perfume notes.
Today I’m in Iris Ukiyoe, having now thunked my 4ml travel spray.
Hope all is well therabbitsflower!
We’re supposed to reach the low 90s tomorrow, so warm weather scents are definitely on my mind. This summer, I plan on reaching for things I haven’t worn in awhile and hopefully thunk a few samples. Ginger Picante and Luten’s l’Eau come to mind, I’m sure I’ll find lots more. My SOTD is the not-particularly-summery Immortelle Corse.
I’m making panzanella for dinner, off to chop!
Low 90’s? Ack! Where are you?
In Northern California. Not enjoying this early heat!
I thought that was Immortal Corpse at first glimpse.
Enjoy your dinner!
😂 I would pass on anything corpse!
