Taking a few CP points for my sotd, Gris Clair. The way it shifts from cool to warm and back again is fun to smell and enjoy.

I like this one a lot. Its starts out fresh w/ just a burst of citrus. within the first hour, it turns musky and a bit powdery, but there is a soft spiciness that starts to come through and the powdery… maybe the orris drops off and I am left 6 hours later with sage and soft spices.
Byredo is one that has always been a very mixed bag for me. I think this one will be a big hit for them.
I like spice and incense in my fumes, and I hope they sell in smaller size. this is year-round wearable in Los Angeles.

I’m at work in Boucheron Trouble, which is not troublesome at all: it’s a cheerful, root-beery amber.
Trouble is a fun one. And another that got away – it’s not around anymore is it?
Yeah, it’s gone. (You can still get it online for a lot of money.) When L’Oreal bought the Boucheron line in 2011 they killed everything except the first two Boucheron scents and Jaipur Homme, apparently. And then they started churning out new scents and flankers of the old discontinued ones like nobody’s business.
I once had, and I don’t even remember how it got into my hands, a pound of Trouble-scented crystals, chunks maybe an inch on a side — some salt or other, dyed ruby red and perfumed — meant to be poured into a little bowl for perfuming the air. I wish more scents were available in formats like that.
I bought that when it first came out, but became upset and turned off to it when my best friend confided that she felt it smelled just like root beer. That really didn’t appeal to me (then) and I gave it away. It might be nice to have it and try it again, but I’m afraid that memory would linger.
Today’s teapot is certainly a lemming! SotD SJP Stash, which I was reminded of while wearing Diorella. I think it would be a good choice for Friday, but I’m thinking it’s not THE Fun One for me. Sharing quite cold weather with several of you, but my yard thinks it’s Spring, so I will venture out later to poke around.

Aiming for fun in ELdO Putain de Palaces. On me, it’s mostly powdery and pretty; the “skank” just keeps it from being too sweet.
I think I’m lacking in “fun” perfumes. I will have to comb through the samples for some ideas.

Sotd is Rose D’Amalfi. It’s lovely but the sillage is a little weak. Would be perfect if it was amped up a little. Will definitely reapply later ?.

I don’t think of Allure EdP as a “fun” scent, so I’m not doing CP today. It’s too classic for fun.
We’ve warmed up a bit…currently 34 so above freezing. We’re going to get icky, cold rain the next day or so. Maybe a bit of snow. Oh well. We will be bouncing around in 40s soon.
Big doings tonight. Going with my husband to his bowling league banquet. I may try bowling a bit soon to see if I want to do the league next winter. I’ve always been pretty bad, though. And, I supposedly have an order of some new skin care waiting at the post office for me. Hope springs eternal….

I am still traumatised by the memory of the stern upright, Miss Bell, my piano teacher . It would have been around 1967. She was ancient then but is the type of person who would live to 220 without need of food or water. I never made it past the first few terms, my mother took pity on me for which I will always be grateful.

Same. Maybe it was standard procedure back then. How you can possibly learn piano while flinching in anticipation of another rap is beyond me. At least she didn’t put sellotape over my mouth which is what my first schoolteacher frequently did, to keep me quiet.
My oldest just started piano. Hmm..hope she is not traumatized.

Reporting back to Jalepeno. I am wearing Eau de Merveilles again today. I am in hour three and I can still smell it, but seems to wear close to the skin. I question the silage and longevity, but maybe it’s just me. I don’t think I have nose fatigue as I do smell it, but I have to get fairly close to my wrist. Thoughts?

A very dull and foggy morning. It was foggy as it got dark last night, and it hasn’t changed as it gets light this morning. I need the comfort of a summery perfume, so I’ll be optimistically wearing Le Temps d’Une Fête.

Today I wore Liz Earle Essence No 9 and realized I have used a half bottle, given the competition of many other perfumes it means I really enjoy this fruity chypre, I think it qualifies as fun too.
Tonight it’s Rochas Absolu, resinous but not too sweet.
I would love to have a set of all the Liz Earle fragrances in travel sizes! I never did get to smell #9.

Hello everyone, I am tired of work and confused by life so reading a Marilynne Robinson novel (Housekeeping – somber but oddly helpful to read something like this at a time like this) and wearing Shalimar MVP and drinking milky black tea. All of this helps but being on here helps the most. Good wishes to you all today.
Isn’t it a great novel? I think it’s my favourite of hers. Imagine that being your first novel, incredible.
Incredible is exactly what it is! I had previously read some of her later novels (I like how she keeps returning to the same place and yet it is never the same each time), as well as some essays, but to encounter this novel now, knowing it’s her first- I am in awe.
I haven’t tried any Shalimar flankers (I don’t think?), but I can see why any iteration would help with confusion. Hope you feel better.

World Piano Day! I have good memories of lessons in elementary and junior high school. We had recitals once or twice a year, which I dreaded, though. I was sort of okay with the solo piece, but the duets were traumatic. I liked my duet partner a lot, but she invariably played her part too quickly, so I was hyperventilating by the end of the piece from trying to keep pace! ?
Tea of the morning was F&M Albion with some English breakfast from Cultured Cup. I’m needing a perk up, so it’s Cream Oolong, also from CC.
SOTD is Eau d’Italie EdT. So I thunked some tea samples today and a perfume sample. ?

If you get tired of tea from there I found August uncommon to really spice things up a bit on not having traditional flavors. Their “passage” has been my go to for dessert in a cup. I order from both of these places. I am tea obsessed.

Hi everyone, I’m almost ready to head out to go see my doctor (surgeon) for another checkup today. He’ll do x-rays and look at my incisions (two are very nicely healed, the third is still somewhat messy). If things look good he said he’ll put me in a new, smaller and lighter brace, and allow some more bending. That would be good because it might help me manage stairs, which I must be able to do in order to return home–and be with my kitties. I miss them so much.
I’m not posting much because I barely have any perfumes here with me at my friend’s house. I had a few I’d picked to put into a bag to bring here but somehow it got left behind. Today I have something good to post though–I bought a mini bottle of vintage Patou Sublime on eBay and it arrived yesterday! I owned a bottle back in 1995–I bought it in a duty free shop when I was visiting in Australia for a semester. I have such good memories of it and loved the shape of that yellow bottle. Somehow it was lost, and I’ve often wondered if I’d still like it now. I thought I’d get a mini before investing in a vintage big bottle. I do still like it–it’s a citrusy amber floral with a lot of ylang ylang. It mellows out as the citrus disappears–which is kind of too bad. Not sure yet whether I want to invest or not. It strangely reminds me of Estee Lauder’s Intuition from a little later than that–2005–later reformulated completely. I wore Intuition a lot after it first came out and still have two bottles of it from that time. It’s quite similar, a combination of citrus, florals, and amber. Unfortunately that one reminds me of a very bad time in my life so I no longer want to wear it. Oh well. There’s plenty more out there to explore. I’ll have to see if I have anything at all here to wear on Friday.

I ordered a vintage bottle of Sublime last year for old time’s sake. I don’t care for it any more, but I’m keeping the bottle because it’s so pretty.
Wishing you all the best with this recovery. I agree about Intuition – was given it as a gift when it was new, enjoyed it and wore it a lot, but now both my old bottle and any available version of it that I have tried since are completely unwearable!

Testing out Chris Collins Harlem Nights today. I say I get CP points because trying something new is fun? I guess Harlem Nights is fun, too – it’s a smooth rum and orris scent. Like cashmere-lined gloves.
Not really suited to the weather here, though. Violets started blooming earlier in the week and today I saw peony buds.

SOTD = I Am Trash/Les Fleurs du Dechet EdP, from the sample stash and an impromptu NST swap. It starts off as a fun fruity floral that quickly calms down to a sedate floral.

Love today’s teapot. While not my most fun ever perfume, it is a fun, kind of nostalgic one I chose today. It’s Sweet Anthem’s Petra, which I have in a solid perfume and regret not buying in liquid format. It’s got notes of candle smoke, cherry, heliotrope, immortelle, myrrh, and vanilla absolute. It definitely gives off the vibe of Lip Smackers cherry chapstick with incense burning in the same room. I love it!
