It’s Friday and Rosa Parks Day, and we are finally past the midpoint of winter. Our community project for today: welcome the Year of Tiger by wearing a fragrance that projects or inspires power, bravery, self-confidence and ambition.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I considered all sorts of heavy hitters for today, from Piguet Bandit to Yves Saint Laurent M7 (not that I have any left), but in the end I went with a fragrance that makes me feel like I could do anything: Parfum d'Empire Azemour Les Orangers. I will settle for partial credit, and I smell fantastic.
Reminder: 2/11 will be Duet Friday... wear two perfumes, one on each wrist or arm. You can choose two that seem made for each other, that bring out something special in each other, or that compete for the spotlight? (Suggested by Kanuka, who listed as inspiration Lakme’s flower duet, Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood singing Jackson, Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett crooning softly in your ear, Billy Idol and Miley Cyrus belting out Rebel Yell.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Good morning.
I had a good think about what I’d wear. I thought about going literal and wear a big cat fragrance Cartier’s La Panthere but I went with the bold, and need-confidence-to-wear Amouage Gold. The strong gold bottle colour also seemed fitting with power and bravery.
Oh perfect! I had thought of Amouage Jubilation XXV too, but haven’t got any left.
After shower it will be Le Temps d’une Fête for me. For years this was my signature. That it was niche, and no one else I knew had even heard of it, made me feel special and unique. It’s not a fierce scent, by any means. But it emotionally resonates. (I just wish Nicolai would stop discontinuing this one…)
I love this one so much. Why it’s discontinued is beyond me. You smell wonderful!
Cuir de Russie by Chanel for me. There was a lady with ambition!
Hi Twin! We smell very good:)
Good pick.
Perfume Cousin! I thought about this, and CdR is a great choice for this project. (I chose a different Chanel) It’s a very textured perfume to me, leathery growl and smooth, lush fur. You smell fantastic.
I went with Chanel No. 5 today.
Twinsies of sorts!?????
I went literal with Jungle le Tigre.
Nice, can’t believe I did not even think of it!
I’m wearing Parfum d’Hermès extrait, which is, and makes you feel, rich and imperious; self-confidence in a bottle. As a bonus, the packaging is that classically Chinese cinnabar-and-gold combination. (I was hoping it was launched in 1986, another Year of the Tiger, but no, it was two years early for that.)
At around that time, when I was really getting obsessed with fragrances and starting to amass a collection, my friend Elizabeth was nervous about a job interview. I anointed her with a few drops of Chanel Coco, which at the time I thought was just about the most confident, sophisticated thing I had ever smelled. I promised Liz it would give her the self-assurance to nail the interview, which of course she did. Never underestimate the power of scent.
Oh you smell so good. I had forgotten about that scent! I should dig out my decant (and then buy a bottle).
My interview confidence scent is Mohur. I have gotten 100% of the jobs from interviews to which I wore Mohur! (…both of them)
I love that story!?
Can’t agree more with Coco, almost went for that this morning!
Happy Friyay!
No emergencies so far(17:27) today,so double yay!
SOTD!
Chanel No.5 Elixer Sensuel, credit to Dawn who wore it sometime last week and reminded me how fabulous it is!
The perfumed gel is really potent,so no need to add any actual perfume as well. And I smell rich, classic and gorgeous!
XO’s
Yay! Glad you’re getting some downtime in some of your weekend, at least!
Thanks!I am indeed very happy!Plus it’s been raining the whole day so I caught up on sleep!
✌??
You smell so good today. Another discontinued gem, I only had a little bit but that texture is wonderful.
Hoarding a 75ml,hoping it lasts forever!??
Day 127 of plastic windows. No actually it’s day 5, it just feels like day 127. We have two windows re-installed, two windows and a door to go. Theoretically everything will be re-installed by the end of the day (care to place a bet, anyone?); weather sealing happens Monday.
SOTD is Memo Tiger’s Nest, I bet I will have lots of company.
Good luck on the windows! I’m in Tiger’s Nest too.
How frustrating, I hope it really does get done today.
Hope that your weather continues to hold off until you are sealed back up again!
I chose Une Rose this morning as it’s surely the toughest, meatiest rose around.
IS IT NOW. I’ve never tried it, but I love a tough no-nonsense rose. Obviously I am going to have to get a sample.
Yes it is. I have to get used to the new name.
Yep. That’s a rose that shoves right past the bouncer.
No scent yet, but I leave for Maui TOMORROW (minimoon? end-of-job celebration? signing bonus spending spree? you pick), so I’m thinking something with plumeria in it. Suggestions welcome. And, what perfumes should I bring with me for the trip?
More importantly, do any of you have recommendations for books that are well written but are cheerful? (Or like, they don’t have to be happy; I just can’t stand another weighty book about the human condition, and all the best writers seem to be hell-bent on writing about nothing else.) I need something to read on the six-hour plane flight, plus all the mornings I’m planning to spend lazing on the balcony with a coffee and Mr Kindle.
Have fun! I always bring Monyette Paris and Kai to Hawaii.
I agree with Kai. I wear that a lot in the summer, and it does remind me of Hawaii.
Thank you! I don’t have either of those, but I do remember Kai smelling perfect for Hawaii 🙂
Ooh, have fun! TF Eau de Soleil Blanc seems like it would be a good choice for Hawaii. (I’ve never been, that long flight would be the death of me)
Have you read In the Midnight Library? It starts out seeming like it will be dark, but it is a really good story, and message about life.
Thank you! And excellent perfume suggestion; I ended up putting it on for today, in preparation for my trip 🙂 I haven’t read it, but I will certainly look into it; thanks!
Have fun!
I think you might enjoy any of the books in the series “The No.1 Ladies’ Detective Agency” by Alexander McCall Smith.Set mostly in Botswana, they’re all fun reads, and I love the main character Mma Precious Ramotswe.✌???
Thank you! You are the second or third person to recommend these, so I think I really have to read them. Thanks for the suggestion!
Oh, enjoy this wonderful trip! I had a memorable time in Hawaii nearly 20 years ago- what a beautiful place-and how wonderful that you are having so many happy experiences lately! My book recommendation would be The Idiot by Elif Batuman-smart, shy college student makes her way in the world via Russian literature and a summer trip to Uzbekistan. It’s set approx.20 years ago, is so full of funny characters I laughed my head off, and I think it’s the only novel I’ve ever seen in which a character wears Serge Lutens!
Thank you! And what a great-sounding book rec (and how delightful to see a niche-ish perfume reference)!
I have no recommendations, just wanted to say have a great trip! You deserve it 🙂
Awww, thank you so much, ringthing!
For cheerful these days I always end up with mysteries, and the last two I read were pretty darned cheerful: The Thursday Murder Club and its followup, The Man Who Died Twice.
Also, winter reading poll is tomorrow!
Also, have a BLAST, I am so jealous!
Thank you, Robin! I’ll think warm thoughts your way while I’m there. Winter reading poll will be lovely to read through afterwards 🙂 And thanks for the recs!
I would recommend any collections of Hawaiian myths and legends but also I have two other books.
Mark Twain’s Letters from Hawaii from his four month journey. It’s pretty interesting reading it now and is recognisably Twain.
I also liked Da Word by Lee Tonouchi. It’s a collection of short stories written in Pidgin and so quite different from a lot of fiction.
https://smithsonianapa.org/bookdragon/da-word-by-lee-a-tonouchi-author-interview/
Have a great trip
Sorry, also remembered Kaui Hart Hemmings . House of Thieves is a short story collection, wealthy Hawaiians (not necessarily funny but set in Hawaii). She also wrote The Descendants which was made into a film.
Thanks for all the great suggestions, Kanuka! I knew I could count on you for some gems 🙂
Ok, so it’s not cheerful, but it’s a murder mystery, so it’s not super deep either: I recommend A Kiss Before Dying by Ira Levin. Such a page-turner! I read it on my last vacation.
I’ll take not super deep! Sounds great; thanks!
Safe travels! This isn’t a new book, but how about “Crazy Rich Asians”?
Thanks, Jalapeno! That would’ve been perfect if I hadn’t already read it 🙂
Did you read the sequel, too?
Have a wonderful vacation! Hawaii is magical.
When I was there I didn’t wear most of the perfumes I took along. Instead I used more scented lotions and creams since they seemed to carry nicely in the air. Bronze Goddess is a nice option if you have it.
Thank you Gail, it really is! I actually loathe scented lotions (I must put my hands near my face a lot, and scented lotions make me want to rip my hands off), but Bronze Goddess does sound perfect for Hawaii!
SOTD is Duista Oudh Infini. Oud is a power note for me; I figured I’d save this one for today so that I could keep on with my Dusita testing this week and still get a CP point. Turns out I get a CP point for another reason — the civet note is dominating this for me, and there is another note that I can’t identify but smells A LOT like the kitty litter I use. 😮 Quite a 180 from the fireworks I got yesterday, but then, that’s the whole point of testing, right? I am curious to see how my kittehs will react to smelling this…
Drinking Vadham masala chai. The flavors are good, but this brewed up weaker than expected. I’ll have to give the pot and extra scoop next time.
Hope all the NSTers in the path of the snow and ice are making out OK.
Meoooow! I remember trying that one for the first time and being compelled and repelled at the same time. It’s so well done and such a power house!
So how did your kittehs react to your SOTD? Mine couldn’t care less what I wear. Never had a reaction from them.
No reaction at all, which surprised me. One of mine two will often try to lick my perfume. I haven’t figured out if that means she likes it or not. She goes especially bananas when I wear Angel, so I have to spray one of her toys with it to keep her away from me. I was hoping for a noteworthy reaction today, but nada. ?♀️
Interesting! Wonder what it is in Angel that drives your kitty nuts?
Today was an inadvertent day off today. My boss called and said that there was no work for me to do in my department and I could either take the day off or work in another department. I chose to take the day off. Just wasn’t game to work in another department and I don’t want to really be out. I had some rollover vacation time from last year so it’s not a big deal. Wore Happy earlier and was thinking Pleasures before I got the call and now I can pick whatever I want. I think either Epic or I could go with vintage Tigress Musk.
Good choice! Enjoy your inadvertent day off!
Enjoy your surprise day off.
Tigress Musk is a great cp tie-in! Any day off is a bonus!
Great perfume picks for today! Which one did you choose?
Congrats on the day off!
I went with Epic today.
I don’t really feel like I have any “power” perfumes, so I chose one that just smells fantastic. Alahine. Looking forward to being able to wear this multiple times this year (tbh during my 365 project last year I allowed myself to wear anything as a second perfume of the day, but mostly I forgot to do so.)
I have still not tried that one yet and I see a lot of people mention it here. Sounds like a goody!
Joining shellyw in Chanel Cuir de Russie. Look out world, here I come!
House twin!?
I would have worn Le Lion today, but I gave my tiny decant away because it wasn’t really me. Instead I’m in another Chanel that is, Coromandel.
I’m off today with nothing much on my agenda. It’s supposed to be clear for a few days so maybe I’ll get a much needed car wash. Or a manicure.
Tomorrow our new furniture is getting delivered and I’m so excited.?
I thought about Le Lion today, too, but it’s the only perfume my husband actively hates, so I didn’t want to risk subjecting 120 students to it!
I bought Le Lion despite very mixed feelings…sometimes I think it is beautiful on me and other times it doesn’t work at all. I have no other perfume that is so polarising!
Did you get the furniture that the decorator recommended?
I did! Couch, rug, leather recliner, chairs, tables and lamps. The whole deal! Our current furniture is almost as old as my 16 year old, so we were well overdue. The old stuff will get carried out to the curb tomorrow morning.?
I love getting new furniture! Enjoy your new things 🙂
I chose Aromatics Elixir for my power perfume and even wore three sprays of it. I remember Portia wearing 15 sprays of it for a bet, wow, this must have been an enormous perfume trail.
I love AE as a sleep scent during summer. Weird…
That’s a great story about Portia and it shows a multitude of confidence!
You smell great!
Aromatics Elixir is a *great* choice for a power perfume!
You smell fantastic! And I love 15 sprays of AE, well done Portia!
I may have been close to 15 sprays yesterday as we had to do a grocery run. It’s what I apply when I want a forcefield around me with no one crowding me out or getting too close in my personal space. Seemed to work!
I chose Atelier Santal Carmin, mostly because I was thinking of that pretty red bottle they did for it a few years ago. It smells strong and forthright, though, so I think it works. It’s a like but not a love for me—otherwise, I would have been very tempted by that bottle.
I’m still sort of plotting a mid-winter “pick-me-up” purchase, but there are always so many contenders that I can’t decide!
That was such a pretty bottle!
I could use a pick-me-up purchase myself…this month is too boring.
Commando since I’m still in the hospital, but things have gone well and I’ll be leaving at around 1 pm to go stay with friends. Thanks for all of you well wishes!
That’s such good news! Very best wishes for a full recovery
Sending more hugs!!(Sorry about the liquid diet,it did NOT look appetizing!)
????❣️❣️
Wishing you a speedy recovery!
Hoping for a fast recovery and friends that will spoil you.
Glad to hear everything went well! Wishing you a speedy recovery! ?
Good news!
Even red jello is tasty when you’re very hungry! This morning I got a banana, plain Greek yoghurt, and a toasted cinnamon raisin bagel, plus coffee. Much better!
Yes to solid food!!
Haha!
You go girl!?????❣️?
Yay for the good news. Have a most recuperative weekend!
So glad it went smoothly. Rest up!
That’s great news! ?
Glad to hear the good news! Rest well and heal quickly.
Oh yay!!!
Big hugs, Calypso, and a speedy recovery!
Glad to hear that things have gone well for you so far! Sending you wishes for an uneventful and speedy convalescence.
Yay! Glad it went well.
Hello everyone! Started the day in Cristalle edp for my little Chanel project, but have just added Miss Dior for the CP, as a tribute to Catherine Dior’s courage and bravery. Have just logged off work and am so ready for the weekend!
Chanel is great for releasing the inner fierceness.
Agreed! It can be fierce, tough, or refined-such a variety of moods, and yet so many of the the perfumes seem to “belong” together in some way.
Great choice and definitely in my top 5 fragrances. Stunning.
Thank you allo! I really enjoyed today ?
Two great perfumes. Enjoy your weekend.
Thank you Kanuka! I hope your weekend is going really well.
Jubilation 25 for me today, with the largest spray I’ve ever done. (Usually one small drop is enough on me.) I think you have to have a fair amount of bravery and confidence to wear a lot of this one, much as I adore it. This is one of those days that’s it’s probably a good thing I work from home!
Oh yay, so glad to see Jubilation on the slist today 🙂
I went with H.O.T. Always (Bond no. 9). 🙂
Perfect — that one smells red, right?
Like cinnamon? If so, I would say yes!
I went with Tiger By Her Side by Sana Jardin. I just picked up a travel size because I keep revisiting my sample. It must be a sign. I really enjoy this scent. It is pretty with a lovely dry down and it’s easy to wear. Happy Friday all!
Love the name of this one. My all-time favourite perfume name is Tipsy Social Blah Blah, and it was so sad it didn’t suit me…
Tipsy Social is a fun name! I bought the Sana Jardin coffret for Sandalwood Temple, which I think more people have heard of, but I prefer TBHS.
Hi there, perfume twin! ?
Hey Twin!
Duet = a perfume on each arm = terrific! Am doing that today, so in one corner is “Nothing Can Go Wrong” Ivoire and in the other is “Spine Straightener” No.19.
Early points 🙂
In Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady, which fits the CP and my rose project. What a delight to wear this perfume! It always makes me feel strong and ready to face anything!
I am working from home today due to weather conditions, even though we have only gotten light rain since last night. No complaints! ?. I am not so busy either, which leads to disaster! That made me search online early this morning for the Iris Liqueur that Robin posted in 2020 and that it was out of stock at that time. Well…. it is back in stock, so order placed and shipped already with a tracking number. I am so excited! I have decided that the Iris Liqueur and a big bouquet of blue irises will be my gift to myself to celebrate my new salary raise and Valentine’s day. I hesitated for a while, but my mother convinced me that I really deserved it and she could, at the same time, enjoy the bouquet! ?
Happy Friday, everyone! ?
POAL was definitely a contender for me as well today! You smell fabulous!!
Love the V’day plans too!
XO’s??❣️?
Thank you, Johanob! ???
Oh what a fabulous idea! You are right to listen to you mother ❤️ I’m really enjoying reading about all your choices for rose month, thank you, and hope your day goes well and the weekend is thoroughly relaxing ?
Thank you, DolceVita! ?❤
Congratulations on your raise!
Thank you, Lillyjo!
Aww, you do deserve it, mother knows best! Congratulations!
Thank you, Tulipani!
Congrats! Enjoy!
Thank you, Allo!
Oh what fun! I had forgotten all about it. Do let us know how it is!!
https://nstperfume.com/2020/05/07/the-daily-lemming-876/
I will report back! Potomac Wine & Spirits has it in stock again. It should arrive tomorrow, weather permitting.
Aha, turns out Total Wine in Wilmington DE has it back in stock too, and my husband happens to be going into Wilmington tomorrow….hmmmm!
Yay! I tried to order from Total Wine, but they do not deliver to my area. Please, you too report back!
Yay for your raise!
Thank you, She-ra!
This would have been a choice, sadly i dont have a sample
Hope you can eventually get one.
Congratulations on your raise! At first I thought Iris Liquer was a perfume. Glad you have a bottle on the way, it sounds like a holy grail item.
Thank you, Gail! ?
Congratulations on your raise! And how sweet of your Mom to encourage you on your “Treat Yerself” purchases!
Thank you, Jalapeno! ?
Yay for your raise! Get those flowers!
And keep us posted on the Iris Liquor.
Thank you, Vee!
I will keep you all posted! ?
My favorite spine-stiffening, head up perfume is Chanel No 19 but it’s way too cold and snowy today. Instead I chose Nicolai Patchouli Intense which is more of a deep comfort scent. When I wear it, I feel like I’m wearing a vintage Dior Le Smoking jacket and holding a scotch on the rocks instead of a flannel shirt and coffee.
I love this image ? I now need to change my plans for this evening to live up to it, thank you for the inspiration!
Bengal Rouge.
Points!
Today I wore Dior Addict Eau Délice which I favor because of its cranberry note, zingy but tonight for the CP I am in vintage Paloma Picasso, Paloma looked feline in the ad but I must admit it’s just too opulent for me so I’m glad to only have a little 30ml.
I know that ad from my old fashion magazines, so glamorous! I tried the current Dior Addict recently and it seemed okay-my expectations were low, but it wasn’t bad and I’d like to try it again. Cranberry, how interesting!
The DA Eau Delice wasn’t on the shelf but I think the DAEau Fraîche was- I only tried the regular DA edp, I think, the pleasant vanilla one.
That ad was great wasn’t it, yes as you say, glamorous. You know I realize I’ve never tried Addict proper. Eau Délice is a fruity floral, quite girly but that cranberry makes it special, I think it’s discontinued, I usually wear it in summer.
While I was looking for my decant of Tiger’s Nest this morning, I came across my bottle of Ambre Fetiche parfum, and decided to go with that instead — I don’t wear this often enough. It’s a lovely crystal bottle from the Les Orientalistes coffret that I got in a swap ages ago (I think it was from Dinazad in Switzerland — if you’re still on these boards, thank you!).
I smell glorious.
Yes, you do smell glorious. (I accidentally typed you so smell glorious at first, which does actually kinda make sense, now that I think about it.)
For me it would have to be Opium because I associate it with my teen and twenty years when I was strangely brave and adventurous ( mountaineering, white water kayaking), confident ( thank you feminism and my mother ) and kind of ambitious. I was definitely feeding the meter back then whereas now I am drawing on it. Don’t have any Opium, sadly.
Wearing Mitsouko which is grounded strength for me.
Both are powerful scents. I miss Opium. My mother wore the parfum, and I would sneak some when I could. How I thought I could sneak in Opium can only be explained with teenage brain.
Mitsouko is another powerful scent. I agree, it is a like a mountain, quiet, beautiful, shifting superficially with the seasons, but deeply grounded. Excellent choice for CD project!
I had similar thoughts to wear something from my younger years. I wore Opium in my early twenties too. I just put some on for the both of us and am wafting your way?
I’m in another version of strength, confidence and ambition in a bottle: Chanel No. 19. Happy Friday, all you scented people!
Perfect description of No.19.My own fortification-fume!❣️❣️❣️
Excellent choice!
Went with Bengale Rouge this morning. More kitten than tiger, but close enough!
That one is absolutely a kitten fur scent! One of my cat smelled just like it.
Should be ” cats” up there! Still have more than one. ??
I’m in Chanel 31 Rue Cambon. It reads as power and old money to me. It is a bit weird, but boldly so. Not loud, because it doesn’t need to be. Aldehydes and florals up top, and claws underneath. I was hooked the moment I first tried it. I’d think twice about messin’ with someone wearing this ;D
31 Rue Cambon always says C suite to me!
It’s the perfume I wore for my last job interview a couple of years ago, and I got the job!
One of my favorites. I don’t wear it often because I don’t want to run out of it.
Happy Rosa Parks Day!
1) SOTD: I am in Eau Premiere- it’s a truly lovely scent, one I like more than #5, and perfect for sweeping into a fintech office to get things done. ( I actually only go into the office once a week- but hey!)
2) This week has been super busy- between the day job and the shift at the hardware store I have worked 70 hours. Oof. Yes, La Haj, that does mean I will reward myself with a bottle of scent!
3) Looking at my year end statements from Fidelity. I thought I would be cute and invest in a couple of meme stocks- but for the long haul. It’s a YIKES in terms of rollercoaster value!
4) Am doing virtual Pilates lessons on the reformer I bought (an entry level model) . Oof, listening to snap! crackle! pop! as I do the stretches, lunges and hundreds is cringe inducing- I had no idea I let it get so bad with my stiffness and posture.
Almost scent twins. I did wear the #5 today.
You smell glorious!
70 hours!!! That is 40 hours too many, but I do salute your industriousness.
How much longer will you be doing the hardware?
I chose L’air de Rien for the CP since it does give me self-confidence and makes me feel a bit brave to wear my favorite raunchy perfume out in public. I’ve worn it to the movies many times for whatever reason. It also has a strong presence and has great lasting power.
So glad it’s Friday and a normal weekend where my boyfriend doesn’t have to travel for work!
SUCH a good one! Also, such a bummer that it seems to be d/c’ed.
Yeah, I’m glad I was able to stock up. I have two full bottles and half a bottle, so I should be set!
You smell fabulous and it’s great that you and your bf get to spend the weekend together. Enjoy!
Thanks for the well wishes and for helping me “stock up” on one of my favorite perfumes!
Today is the start of a long weekend – yay! It starts with the usual routine of supermarket shopping, so that’s not exactly exciting. I’ll spice that up with a dab from my sample of Bengale Rouge, an FB is creeping its way up the list of future purchases.
Fun, enjoy your long weekend Gaynor!
Inspired by Kanuka I am wearing Opium ( newer formula)
I also colored my hair. It’s supposed to be mahogany red. It’s more black orangey red. Lol.
Your new hair color matches your SOTD!
Lol!
Hello all! Been so busy I haven’t been checking in as often as I’d like! I’m in Tam Dao which doesn’t remind me of tigers at all but it is my “get things done” perfume so I’ll take a half point I guess, lol. I do have a tiger themed book recommendation though. When the Tiger Came Down the Mountain is by Nghi Vo and it’s a good one. There are not many pages but I would not call it a light read…
Tam Dao is perfect for any occasion. You smell great!
I have no scent that’s tiger-related and I had difficulty deciding which fragrance embodies for me the qualities described in today’s cp. But I knew that woody, spicy, earthy, yet warm and comforting, are qualities in a scent that most make me feel like ‘me’ and strengthen my self-esteem, and when I stumbled upon Dame Perfumery Earth Mother in my collection, I said Yes! This is the one!
The lemon and galbanum at the top lift my spirits and brighten my day; the patchouli and sandalwood are its heart and soul and touch mine, and the lingering warm caramel note is as comforting as a hug. I am reminded of a beautiful favorite Native American quotation that embodies Her strength:
“The Great Spirit is our father, but the earth is our mother. She nourishes us, that which we put into the ground she returns to us, and healing plants she gives us likewise. If we are wounded, we go to our mother and seek to lay the wounded part against her to be healed.” – Bedagi (Big Thunder), Wanamaker Algonquin, 1900’s.
Now that’s power and strength!
Last weekend we went to see my favorite cellist perform – it was an awesome concert – and this weekend we get to see him one more time before he goes off on tour again. A rare and much-needed treat during this long period of cautious pandemic living – there’s just nothing like live music to reawaken one’s spirit and soul!
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend ahead!
Extra points for thinking it through, and for the quote!
And enjoy your concert. I can’t even remember live music, honestly.
Work has been SO busy today that I have had no time for funk or fragrance. I just unearthed my Tiger’s Nest sample which is an impressive feat in and of itself and doused myself! ? 🙂 Happy Friday to all!
Happy Friday She-ra, and extra points for finding that sample!
Just clomped home from the beach (Lake Michigan) in my Sorrels and applied Champs Lunaires, so I can fantasize about sugar-sand shores instead of impressive snow & ice formations.
Tomato leaf fans, saw this today: https://cactus.store/products/solanum-lycopersicum-perfume
Oh, doesn’t that look fun! Pricey for their first try, but still.
I went with Chanel Cuir de Russie. It never ceases to make me feel strong in my bones and wise in my soul.
This description really makes me want to try it!
Oh, it’s so beautiful, and I love it especially in the wintertime. Wearing perfume is playing dress up for me. Every day (sometimes multiple times in a day! ?) I get to decide who I want to be. This is that Sliding Doors version of me that comes out on top: strong and fierce and knowing. All of that from perfume? Absolutely!
More twins!
Yayyyyy! Glad to see there are kindred spirits!
Song of the Day: https://youtu.be/-Ti1b-RRBjI
45 years ago on this date, Fleetwood Mac released “Rumours”. It doesn’t feel like it’s been that long!
Still watching the rain come down. The only snow left in my neighborhood now are the huge piles that the plows pushed up when they cleared the streets.
SOTD = Sana Jardin Tiger By Her Side, from the Sample Stash and lillyjo. This one is more purring kitty cat snuggling with you in bed on a cold winter’s morning than tiger. So cuddly! ??
I love Rumours. We used to go next door to our neighbor’s and sing along with her album. It had an insert (or something) with all the lyrics. I still pretty much know them all, even if a little off key.
Never owned “Rumours” on vinyl, but I do have it on CD.
Great description of Tiger BHS You smell great today Twin!
Thank you! As do you!
I’m glad it works well for you!
It’s very evocative of kitteh snuggles!
Thank you for the intel. Putting the vinyl on right now!
Rumours is a flawless album, start to finish. If you haven’t seen Classic Albums: The Making of Rumours, I highly recommend it. When you hear what the band were going through at the time, you’ll love the album even more.
I forgot about the community project, but I think I wound up on target because I am wearing Coco EDP on one hand and comparing to extrait on the other. Just a dab, or I would go from fierce to way overbearing, even if I am working at home.
Yep, accidental points!
Hello everyone!!
Yesterday I read the comments but was too tired to post:) but also yesterday two packages arrived: Histoires des Parfums Blanc Violette (discontinued) and I have ordered a travel spray of Maison Crivelli Hibiscus Mahajad.
Yesterday and today I have been happily wearing Blanc Violette. My bottle is 100% authentic and I got it for… $40.00. I thought this seller “decluttering” never specified the size of the bottle so I thought it would be a 15ml spray. Maybe 60ml if I was lucky. But a whole 120ml arrived!! 4 full ounces and it is lovely!!
Hibiscus Mahajad is a LOVELY hibiscus tea scent the kind I remember from my childhood growing up in Poland. Well I went back on the website and ordered some more Hibiscus Mahajad as well as a 5ml cute spray of Patchouli Magnetique. I realized I love patchouli when I fell in love with Nouez Moi by the House of Sillage. I am super excited:))
Great story – I love those surprises of size and quality that occur from time to time.
Late again but I’m here I’m here!
I decided to wear …
SOTD = Memo Paris Tiger’s Nest
Incense and amber! ???. I am taking credit by association as my brother and sister-in-law hiked down to the real Tiger’s Nest Monastery Complex in Bhutan in 2019. How cool is that?!? I went on a hiking trip too the same year (Italy) but I was a ?? hiker and dropped out of 2 trails although, to give myself credit, I hiked the other 4 trails!

I mentioned getting a Chanel package. It was unusual because I have not ordered anything and when I did, the outer package does not have Chanel on it. It turned out to be a set of gold tags / ornament. I’ll post it at some point if I can take good pictures.
That is very cool about your brother & wife! I find that I am the kind of traveler that is always happier getting home than being on some adventure – but I try to push myself a little. Italian trails would be wonderful, too. Do you think those Chanel ornaments were a follow-up gift for the Advent Calendar (or another recent purchase 😉 ?
Late, very late, to the party. SotD for the CP Fendi Asja, for the gold and black stripes on the bottle and for the sandalwood growing in Indian tigers’ forests.
❤️! You are so lucky to have a bottle!
