Happy Foody Friday! Our community project for today: wear a gourmand or foody fragrance. (This is a repeat from 2015.)
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I am sure I will not be the only one in Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille today?
Reminder: on 1/21, for Christian Dior's birthday, wear a Dior fragrance (this is a repeat from 2014).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Good morning and TGIF!
Sotd is Cherry Punk. I smell like a cherry candy and I am loving it. I am reminded of a Chupa Chups and it’s been forever since I last had one.
Currently drinking latte, sweetened with stevia.
I ordered a sample of that one, it sounds fun!
Hope you like it!
I love cherry candies. I remember when I was a teenager faking that I had a sore throat so I could suck on those sweet cherry Luden’s lozenges
I loved those lozenges too!
Me three!
I loved those, too. They taste just like (and might as well be) cherry Lifesavers.
How does it compare to Lost Cherry, if you know? Thanks!
The cherry here is similar to Lost Cherry but this has a leather base to give it a different character.
I am late , but I did eat a home made (not by me!) chocolate covered cherry today and it was stupendous. No perfume I know smells that good.
Chocolate covered cherries! Yum…
Chocolove has a chocolate bar with dried cherries and almonds that is seriously tasty. I had one in my Chocolate Stash a while back.
Yep, we eat that bar regularly.
I couldn’t decide between SL Jeux de Peau and Un Bois Vanille, so I thought, well, porque no los dos? I soon found out. Each one by itself is a kind of masterpiece, but together they’re muddy: the features that make each so distinctive get lost when you smush them together. Some fragrances layer well, but complex, heavily orchestrated things like Lutens generally do not.
Anyway, lesson learned. After I shower I’ll put on Jeux de Peau and revel in that luscious baked-goods magic.
I like to read reports on layering – thanks!
Aha. I always try one on each arm and then wave together under my nose to test layering, but even that doesn’t really save you if you’re walking around with them all day.
I’m wearing Missoni, the 2006 version, with notes of chocolate and orange. This is another favorite, long untouched.
I wish I hadn’t sold this one, it was unique.
I saw a bottle at one of my local perfume stores about a year ago. I can see if it’s still there if you like. I left it because I already had a back-up bottle but I think it was around 60 USD. I remember the box being a bit mangled though.
Thank you for your kind offer! Don’t go out of your way, but if you happen to see one you can let me know.
I love this one in all of its indigestible glory!
I broke out the chocolate/orange shower gel I got from Yves Rocher last night, and it was great. You must smell wonderful today!
Joining you in chocolate and orange but a different fragrance – we smell delicious!
Ooh, you smell great! I was able to get a small bottle of this version several years ago online from Perfumania (no longer on their website; I wonder if any of their stores might have some stashed away on a back shelf).
I had a hard time deciding between L Lolita Lempica, which I’m sure I misspelled, and Angel Taste of fragrance. I’ve enjoyed Angel in various forms all week and today is no exception. I put a tiny spritz on and I’m hoping it’s not too much for my physical therapist.
L de Lolita Lempicka…you were close!
Lol thanks!
I forgot I had L de Lolita Lempicka! (What does that say about my collection?!?!) Good stuff! Might have to put it on later.
Good morning and happy Friday!
SOTD: Synthetic Jungle which has quickly become a favorite of my husband — woot! woot! and I enjoy it too!
You smell so green and fabulous! I just tried that one and love it:)
It’s amazing!
Lovely!I won’t wear it myself, but testing it I did think it was really well done!
I really enjoy this one but I’m not totally convinced by the drydown yet. I love that bracing green so much though.
My thoughts exactly.
Mine too. I love how Synthetic Jungle starts, but need to spend a bit more time thinking about the rest of it!
I haven’t tried that yet, but it’s on my list! I love strong green scents.
Sounds like Synthetic Jungle will be great for those dreary winter days in February and March!
Happy Foody Friyay!!
Indeed,so glad it is Friday,what a week!
SOTD!
Kayali Eden Juicy Apple/01.
Notes are juicy red apple(yes),wild berries(yes!),jasmine(yes),lychee(only a hint),vanilla flower(I guess) and sensual musk,as per ad copy of Kayali.
It truly is a juicy red apple fragrance, but fear not!Sweet and fruity yes, cloying or tooth-achingly sugary NO!Also not a generic fruity-floral mess, and I bought it at first sniff!
I am really enjoying the Kayali fragrances, and I love their options that range from 5ml rollerballs,10ml minis,up to 50 and 100 mls and even some hair mist.Well priced and nicely done.My other favorite favorite so far is the Vanilla, also the Musk is very pretty.
CP compliant for a change,haha!
XO’s
P.s,thank you everyone for the “tea and sympathy ” yesterday regarding my Absalom disaster!!I knew you guys would understand!Haha!Today I am feeling just indifferent about the experience.Moving along swiftly, and I shall continue to still explore other local brands, they can’t be all just smoke and mirrors….
Did they issue a refund?
No,he did not.He wanted to send a replacement bottle,as per their refund policy etc etc…We’ll just write it off as a bad experience(about $150 worth of “bad”) and focus on what’s still good, honest and beautiful in Perfume-land….
I tried the Kayali last week. It is like a Juicy red apple.
Did you enjoy it?
I liked it well enough but only sampled on paper. I will spray on skin next time.
In my most foody scent today — Felanilla. Happy Friday!
You smell wonderful!
Ah, another good one, i have thought of that too.
Another one of my favs. You smell great!
Wearing Shalimar (the Vanille Mexique version) from my ever-dwindling decant. Enjoying it8 while I can!
Been awake since 2:30 am-ish. I was hearing traffic noises and probably what sounded like helicopters. Ugh!
Speaking of foody fragrances, I’m always grateful to you when I put on my carrot infused oil since you mentioned carrot essential oil awhile back.
Glad you love it! I find it simply stunning with any iris scent.
I had a tiny decant of that and it was fabulous while it lasted!
Smelling wonderful.
Happy Friday! Copying someone from yesterday in TRNP Blue Lotus.
Happy Friday cazaubon!
Ugh! Love that one. You smell wonderful!
Happy Friday! I’m also copying someone in Fils de Dieu and wishing I had a big bowl of rice pudding with raisins.
hey twin, we sure smell good. I love rice pudding with cumin seeds, cinnamon and cardamom, sounds a bit strange, but tastes lovely!
Oh yum. I did just eat a mess of chocolate but that still made me hungry.
Warm rice pudding sounds pretty darn good right now… ?
I have a few very sweet gourmands that I am in the mood for only on rare occasions. So am wearing a scent from another key food group, spirits–in Angels’ Share 🙂
I had a sample of that – so good.
Smelling very good over there! One of those scents I admire on others, but does not work for me.✌?
Honestly, I don’t love it either. It isn’t bad on me, so much as meh. I do love the bottle though. When I really need a booze bomb, I turn to bdk’s Wood Jasmin, which is what I was hoping that Angels’ Share would be like (yes, yes I bought it blind, but the bottle!!!)
TF Lost Cherry is todays scent. It’s cold and snowy here in MN and this cheered me up. I extended the vibe by finishing off the last of my marzipan Stollen bites from Aldi ?. One final package from the freezer. 3 bites and a cup of coffee was a perfect morning break.
Oh, those Marzipan stollen bites sound yummy! Sadly we have no Aldi here.
I’ve not seen the stollen bites at my Aldi’s, just regular stollen, but it’s delicious.
I think they are very popular. They only appear at Christmas, both regular and marzipan. They freeze beautifully so I buy about 4-5 little boxes and dole them out. I like them better then regular Stollen because just the two of us have a hard time finishing a full loaf before it gets stale. The bites come about a dozen to a box…3 bites each means we finish a box in 2 mornings. Tomorrow will be the end until next year.
Stollen Bites and Cinnamon Stars are must buy items!
They have the best holiday stuff.
Ahhh….Lost Cherry. So glad I finally caved in last year, one of my favorite purchases of 2021!You smell great!
I love Aldi’s stollen bites, too, finished those already and the rest of the pannetone. Yum!
I have yet to check out the Aldi near me. I should, given all the love their goodies get here.
Prada Candy for today, though it has faded faster than I remembered. It’s been an exhausting week, but perhaps more meaningful than some. I get to escape for an evening away with my husband tomorrow night, so I’m looking forward to the weekend.
Ditto on the Candy and the exhaustion.
Ooh, have a lovely evening away!
Taking it easy these days. Still feeling really fatigued
I just finished watching The Lost Daughter on Netflix. It may shock you, but I haven’t read the book yet. I found the movie to mirror Elena Ferrante’s writing.
I don’t think I with the CP today, Accento by Xerjoff. One spray of this and I am good for days. The only foodie note is pineapple. The bottle is gorgeous. https://images.app.goo.gl/3KjbSf8eRCy4VAn28
I thought The Lost Daughter movie was well done. Oliva Coleman is excellent as always. And I love that Maggie Gyllenhaal at some point said to her husband “I need to cast someone as a cringy, pompous professor – you’re perfect for it” 🙂 I haven’t ready the book yet either, but it is interesting to see how this one had several themes that EF explores again in the My Brilliant Friend series.
HA! I agree! I loved that she cast her husband too..
I think Ferrante, and also Sally Rooney, have a way of making their characters feel present but very detached at the same time.
That bottle is really gorgeous!
Hang in there,I hope you feel yourself again asap!
I have been struggling with extreme fatigue ever since I got the booster, but it does seem to be getting better since this past Monday.
XO
The bottle is gorgeous but mostly the feel of it, its like velvet. Very soft and silky
I am sorry about your fatigue. I can relate to your exhaustion !
I forgot that it was Friday! I’ll shift into something foody later on today, but this morning I’m smelling like a bed of narcissus in which a large, sweaty animal has been rolling, in Tabac Tabou. Felt like I needed to give a hat tip to the narcissus that are blooming all over my neighborhood.
Alright, Tabac Tabou was making me feel a bit sneezy, so I’ve washed it off and replaced it with Rahat Loukoum, my first and favorite gourmand love.
❤️ Rahat! You smell wonderful!
I have 3 blooming in my house, but a LONG wait to see them outside 🙂
I’m in Kyse Oui Plus! for the CP. From the Kyse website, notes of: graham cracker, marshmallow, cocoa absolute, Peru balsam, patchouli, styrax and a bit of burnt coffee.
Really glad that it’s Friday, but sadly have a series of Zoom meetings that I have to attend today. Give me strength.
Smell delicious, everybody!
Good luck with your many Zooms. I am wishing you the benefits of secret pajamas to get you through them all.
Secret pajamas unite! I recently sailed through an evening Zoom meeting with our agency’s Advisory Committee in a nice professional top paired with pajama bottoms and fuzzy socks.
Did the same for several meetings today. I mean, if one must do Zoom meetings on a Friday, I think pajama bottoms and fuzzy socks are de rigueur!
It will be over soon Lisa D! You can do it!
Wow, your perfume sounds great!
I’m not much for foody scents, but I can get behind my Shalimar MVP!
Yep, you smell great.
I was planning on a day in Lolita Lempicka Sweet but it just did not speak to me. While looking for Sira des Indes, I saw a neglected bottle of Ralph Lauren Glamourous. No CP points, but the lily and other sweeter florals are hitting the spot. Happy FriYAY to all.
Awww…disappointed you did not wear Sira!Such a fun fragrance!I’ll maybe wear it tomorrow!
LOL, johanob: I still haven’t found in among the hoard, but we might be twins tomorrow if I do! Hmmm, I think it’s unboxed…roots…
So many choices in my Traveling Perfume Box! I do have a manufacturers spray of SDV, but not feeling it today.
I decided on BF Ummagumma for all its delicious “lick the bowl clean” goodness!
In book news, I’m thoroughly enjoying the Corrina Chapman series by Kerry Greenwood. Don’t know if I stumbled across it or read about it here. If so, thank you! I absolutely love the colorful cast of characters and unexpected plot twists. One of the best series I’ve read in a while.
Another stunner of a day here! Yesterday it was 65F with Mr Sunshine going at full throttle. I can feel my mood lifting, despite the fact I have to return to work next week.
Wishing you all sunshine and a warm breeze today. ✌?
And just like that a hold placed on the first book in the series.
Enjoy the fun weather Deva!
Thanks!
I’m enjoying your pictures, and all the blue sky! Clearly Doggo is having a great time too. You deserve some sunny weather and scenery after doing the difficult work you do!
Yes, we are both LOVING being outdoors in the sunshine again. Hope your hand heals quickly! Did you re-break it? Or was it mostly a soft tissue injury?
Will have to get the Corrina Chapman books after I (eventually) read the Phryne Fisher ones.
I did get some sunshine today after all, so thanks for sending it! ?
I chose Indochine for the CP. It isn’t precisely foody, but it does always remind me of the banana and macadamia nut pancakes that we used to get in Hawaii — so yummy! My parents gave up their Maui winter digs several years ago, and I really miss those cheap vacations where I didn’t have to spring for anything but the airfare. Ah well, time goes on. ?
Oh yum! You smell great. Wishing I would have worn Indochine, too!
I need to pull my bottle out. Such a great scent!
I don’t think of LPRN Black Perfecto EdP as gourmand, but I guess it is with its black cherry, almond and licorice. Exactly what I wanted today, so I’d have worn it no matter what.
Long day yesterday. Hour drive down to Green Bay. Got our Costco membership cards, and I inquired about the tires I had ordered back in December (again). Lo and behold, they cancelled the order after I had contacted them on Monday (without following up to tell me.) I ordered a different set, which are a bit more expensive. I get it was an inventory issue. What I don’t get is the bad service and no communication. Not a good introduction, Costco.
Then the car dealership needed to give us a loaner…again. Issue with passenger air bag. Another part needed. Beginning to think Subaru needs to up their electronics reliability game.
But…we did end the day by seeing the new Spider-Man in a nice, big theater with recliners. Thoroughly enjoyable. I also picked up a few items at Ulta and had my eyebrows cleaned up. Overall, a productive day. Today? Less so. About to tackle taking more decor down.
I think she’s better known for her Phyrne Fisher series, which is also on TV. I’ve never read or seen that series, but I know a lot of people like it. I will probably give it a whirl after I finish this series.
I love the female lead, who is not perfect, but is strong, self-accepting, kind, and determined. I listen on Audible, and if you do like audio books, the narrator here is quite good. The tone, pitch, and inflections she gives each character all work very well. I enjoy listening to her. Hope you enjoy them!
Sorry, I meant to post this response to your response above! ?
How nice to see a real movie in a real theater! Makes up for the tires, I would think.
ARGH on the car troubles and the tire mis-communication! Frustrating!
Still in Havana Vanille. Didn’t feel like digging out my decant of SDV today.
And you do smell great!
Brussels Sprouted ( Smell Bent ) is my earthy green attempt at the CP. One of my very first cooking responsibilities as a kid was cutting a small “x” into the base of the brussel sprouts before they were boiled ( endlessly ). A typical meal was fried liver, mashed potato and boiled until soft and sulphurous brussel sprouts. I think I was almost a teenager before soy sauce and stir-fried brussel sprouts were discovered in our family. A game changer. Happy weekend everyone!
Isn’t it amazing how brussles can be so good or so bad? I made a slaw with them for xmas and that was another really good brussel dish.
Delicious if roasted with a bit of chopped bacon and balsamic vinaigrette! ?
They are delicious roasted even just with olive oil. It’s my favorite way to make brussels. Can’t believe the bother we used to go through to steam them.
They’re perplexingly good roasted, aren’t they? I always thought that putting a slight char on cruciferous vegetables sounded nauseating, but a friend made them once and I couldn’t get over how the outer leaves turned into little crisp, melt-in-the-mouth, effectively potato chips.
Yes! I love when they’re like that.
Another fan of roasting those little “skunk cabbages,” as my Father called them. Even DH, who agreed with Father on that one, will eat them roasted. Me? I like ’em any how: even with the thunder boiled out of them-mushy!
I confess, I will eat them that way too–I love them any which way. If they’re mushy, I like to top them with some freshly grated nutmeg (and butter of course). It’s so good!
How funny! I had roasted Brussels sprouts for dinner last night. I make them via Robin’s preferred method: just good olive oil (sometimes sesame seed oil) and salt needed.
Broccoli is also delicious roasted that way.
I had that job too! And my English mother did in fact boil all vegetables during my childhood. Later on, she steamed them, which was an improvement, but I’m a vegetable roaster myself, except for something like green peas (and I still like to steam asparagus). I’ve always loved vegetables, but now I love them more, and my kids love at least some of them too.
How funny. I generally roast or BBQ sprouts now but if I do boil them I still cut a x. My parents were both English too.
However, much as I like them, I can’t imagine wanting to smell like them!
Hello all!
I’m in Tauer’s Une Rose Vermeille, a raspberry rose macaron tower, the foot high. Somehow not too sweet on me though.
I took a shelter dog home last night for a sleepover and so far is been a dream. I haven’t had a dog in so long but I saw this little boy and fell in love. He’s been very chill so far, despite hating his (much-needed) bath. He’s a 4-year-old poodle and just sweet as anything. I’m already thinking of names.
Stay safe everyone.
Oh, how wonderful! You’ll give that good Boi a great home. Please be patient! There is a curve that dogs go through when they are introduced to a new environment. Please consider crate training. Many sources online for info, but this can help prevent issues that may make you consider returning him, and also, if done properly, it’s a safe place for doggo to relax and have some alone time. Congratulations to you both!!
Our furbaby was a rescue, and she loves her crate. As you say, it’s her safe place, and we’ve made it VERY comfy for her. We also reward her with a little treat when we must put her in the crate, so she loves that part too.
Exactly! ?
Yay! Hoping for you both that last night’s successful sleepover turns into the first of many.
Hooray for finding a new friend!
Hey Twin–joining you today in Tauer fruity rosy goodness. Congrants on your new four legged friend.
What fun!
Good luck with your new furbaby! So wonderful to give one a much-needed home and someone to love!
What good news. I hope you have lots of good adventures.
Yay on the beginning of what looks like a beautiful, four-legged friendship.
I’m very excited about your great rescue dog!
Wearing 777 Une Nuit a Doha today and this is about as foody as I can take. I do love it, though I only wear it once in a while and judiciously applied.
We’re expecting snow and ice on Sunday and I’m looking forward to it knowing it will likely be the only opportunity to see snow falling this winter and, more importantly, I don’t have to drive anywhere. Atlanta becomes a mess when winter precipitation descends upon us.
Wishing you all a pleasant weekend !
One of my very favorites and guess who introduced me to it… 🙂 You smell good!
Ha! I actually thought about you when I chose it…thank you E!
Stay warm and safe! Have you chosen a snow-appropriate scent?
I’m thinking about Taklamakan ?
Hopefully you are stocked up on groceries now and don’t have to go anywhere for a while!
I am, thank you Jalapeno. I suspect by tomorrow afternoon some grocery store shelves will be empty. People here tend to panic when they hear the words snow and ice.
I went with CdG Nomad Tea. I get mint and black tea with brown sugar, and little piece of licorice on the side.
Drinking chocolate puer and looking forward to watching the new Macbeth tonight.
Oh you smell wonderful!
You smell really nice, and please report back on how you liked Macbeth!
Oh, is this the one with Frances McDormand? I adore her…
That CdG sounds like it could be a 4-season perfume.
Friday!
SOTD: Fresh Cream. It’s really rather perfect- creamy, lightly sweet and settles into a very cuddly scent.
Beautiful sunshine today- perfect for a walk!
I love Fresh Cream on a cold, wintry day – so comforting!
It really is!
Love Fresh Cream. Did you ever buy an E-Bike? I’m thinking of getting one.
I am still in the running to buy an e-Bike. I did not do it over the holidays because I was so busy!
There is so much choice for e bikes out there- but I do know I want one for under $2k and up to a class 3. I want to buy from a bike shop because then I would have access to service.
I have been thrilled with mine, and have not had a problem getting it serviced despite not buying at a bike shop. Might be worth asking your local stores?
But of course if you need warranty type work, you’re better off buying at a store, and I do know some of my local bike stores won’t work on e-bikes at all.
We have the bubble bath version here; my son calls it “marshmallow bath” and frequently requests it.
In a lot of Olympic Orchids Cafe V. I accidentally drained half the sample. I’m getting orange, but maybe also a teeny bit of incense and worn wood? It’s a warm scent, at any rate, and also a bit juicy.
I also compared Ummagumma and Seattle chocolate yesterday. Seattle is a clear chocolate/incense combo, Ummagumma felt more blended and scrumptious to my nose. I’ll add that I am not a great churchy incense fan though.
OK, after reading your description of Ummagumma, I don’t feel so bad about not being able to pick out any notes when I sniffed my sample.
Wearing Angel, my biggest foodie scent, for the CP today.
In an amazing instance of “huh, small world”, I know the photographer for today’s image IRL. I don’t know him well, but we’ve met a few times. How funny!
You smell wonderful, and that *is* a notable coincidence regarding today’s yummy-looking picture! 😀
You smell wonderful.
I almost wore Angel but then took a sniff and decided I was not quite in the mood for it…
You do smell nice.
How cool!
Scent sibling today!
I can still yesterday’s Omnia on my clothes this morning. I find that it fades qiite quickly on my skin, but lasts ages on fabric.
It’s a lovely sunny Saturday morning here (I enjoyed writing those words), it’s a great day for Annick Goutal’s Chèvrefeuille.
Chevrefeuille is beautiful ? you smell great!
Oh, I miss Le Chevrefeuille like I miss the sight of my legs, and peaches, and wearing skirts! I could put some on right now, but I’d have the uncomfortable feeling that winter was sneering at me…
You smell great!
Fils de Dieu today, one of my few foodie scents. I really love it and always think of Deva if I wear it.
It was a toss up for me today, with that one as a top contender. You smell wonderful!
You smell amazing, of course.
I’m having a Bois des Iles kind of day.
Best kind of days!
You smell great!
Nice!
I’m wearing Amouage Honour Woman, for the rhubarb note–so Robin, this picture is perfect (and oh how yummy that looks)!
I watched The Lost Daughter yesterday and thought Olivia Colman was terrific but the Dakota Johnson character didn’t work for me. I think her character was (too much) a device to propel Leda’s story than a complex person. Have you ever watched Colman in the series The Flowers ( painful British comedy) …worth watching. I also had an interesting conversation with an old friend over Power of the Dog. She hated it because she thought it was deeply homophobic, especially the ending.
I’m very excited about your great rescue dog!
Oops!
I have a broken finger in my right hand, so my typing and scrolling are off!
I liked The Lost Daughter. I think Nina was meant to be a blank— someone Olivia’s character projected onto.
I’ll look for that other series.
Yes I’ve heard a lot of those criticisms of Power of the Dog as homophobic. That seems rather knee-jerk to me. If you see it as a story of a specific and intense, contained, family drama, like a Chekhov play, it is better. It doesn’t have to be some stand-in for a general sociological account of an era.
Arielle Shoshana Sunday today. Not traditional gourmand but certainly toasty, sweet rice to me.
TGIF, friends! Gosh, it’s been so long since I worked on a Friday. I’ve been on 4/10 schedule for two years. I’m back on 9/80 now so I am off every other Friday. So between working on Friday, having to go into an OFFICE to work on said Friday, and it snowing, I am not feeling it ha! I am going to chill and enjoy my weekend for sure. 🙂
Ha! I hear you, I’ve gotten used to working monday through thursday really quickly and I just started the end of October. Enjoy your weekend!
I need to locate my decant of Sunday.
I’m excited about Arielle Shoshana coming out with their Friday perfume later on this year!
Happy Friday Everyone!!
This morning was MH Lumerie Doree. About to shower and change the tune. Oh that is right!! Today’s Foodie Friyay!! Ok now decisions… decisions…
Happy Friday!
Recently during Yves Rocher’s post-holiday sale, there was some discussion here of their Orange Fondante b&b products and a comparison to their previous orange and chocolate fragrance, and that’s what inspired my SOTD choice for today’s Foody Friday. Fortunately, unlike the Orange Fondante, their 2010 Fruits de Noel Orange & Chocolat fragrance was also available in an edt, and that’s what I’m wearing today (and, fortunately, I have a back-up bottle because I ❤️ it!). Warm cocoa + orange zest, it’s light yet deliciously lasting. I also have and ❤️the Orange & Amande edt, the other Fleurs de Noel scent that came out that year, which is a bit more citrusy and sparkly.
The highlight of my week was an overnight visit from my granddaughter, who is a HS freshman along with her twin brother. Chicago Public School classes were cancelled for awhile after Christmas break and she was getting bored at home. Pandemic isolation + kids being teenagers have curtailed many of the fun times we used to have together and lessened their visits, so this was a real treat for me, and I think for her, too. I found my HS yearbook from decades ago when I was a sophomore and we had a great time sharing that – I went to a small all-girls’ Catholic HS, very different from her experience in a very diverse large public school. We watched a movie – and cried together – ‘The Art of Racing in the Rain;’ (don’t miss if you’re a dog lover, but have a box of tissues nearby, it’s sad but heart-warming and uplifting!)
Tonight Mr. Laila and I will be tucked in with a warm ? , ???, and a movie, and I’ll be adding some Dame Perfumery Chocolate Man to my SOTD – another one I ❤️ – because you can never have too much ?!
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend ahead!
I love the highlight of your week, how fun for you both!
And warm memories to carry me thru til the next visit.
Oh, you are lucky to have the EdT! I did get the Orange Fondante shower gel and hand wash.
And so glad to hear you had a good visit with your granddaughter, that’s lovely.
I also bought the OF shower gel, scrub and hand wash, and it’s definitely reminiscent of the original Orange & Chocolat. It’s too bad they didn’t make an edt this time.
SotD = Insolence EDT
I smell like berries and deliciousness. ? Insolence never disappoints me.
I’ll be twinning with the SDV fans later today.
It’s all Guerlain all day for me.
Happy Friday, everyone!
Happy Friday, Guerlie Girl!
Hey hey tiffanie. I may have an Insolence sample somewhere but your to be SDV is a winner in my book!
I’m in MFK BR540 extrait, and I’m just taking it for granted that you all know what I’m talking about since I’m too lazy to spell it out, lol.
Turns out I don’t have a lot of gourmands in my collection….I went to Luckyscent and searched, and this was the only one on the entire list that I have a sample of. I’ve come to the conclusion gourmands are not my thing.
Gray, gray, gray here. Some light flurries currently going on. My college daughter went for a hike this morning with a friend and they walked out onto nearby lake mendota. Because we haven’t had much snow this year, the ice has frozen clear and she could see through to the ripple sand bottom. I might have to check that out this weekend.
Happy Friday, hope the sun is shining where you are.??
Wishing you belated birthday wishes for a wonderful year ahead!? I love reading your stories about your girls – enjoy! They grow up too fast.
Wow, a lake frozen clear! That would be something to see. But please be careful doing so. There was a rescue of someone falling thru an icy pond in my area this week.
TGIF!
The past couple of days, I have been thinking that there are certain things that really should NOT ever be perfumed! The Perfume Posse has/had the perfect term for the object of my recent ire: the dreaded “Tampax Fresh Accord”. Just NO!!!
End rant.
SOTD = Angel Garden of Stars – La Rose Angel EdP. I have been happily sniffing this one today. I’d be hard pressed to decide which of the Garden of Stars perfumes I like more, Violette or Rose. Both are magical, but in different ways.
ha! ? honestly, I cringe whenever I hear “fresh”!
Same. “Fresh” will scare me off of trying a perfume!
Adding the “fresh accord” (or any scent) to actual Tampax was never a good idea.
THIS! Yes, yes yes!
No “fresh” for me too for feminine hygiene products. For perfumes, “Sport” turns me off.
I remember in the 90’s everything was sport. I hated them all. Although I did buy Liz Sport because I was collecting Liz Claiborne perfume at the time.
“Fresh” and “Sport” are just about the kiss of death in my book. No thanks!
But each to their own.
You smell great jalapeno! Where did you find the sample set? Is it the one with 3 in it?
I found the sample set on Beauty Encounter, and it has all 4 Garden of Stars perfumes in it. I’ve tried 2 out of 4 so far.
I’m unscented today due to sinus issues, but I plan to put on an easygoing gourmand tonight. Maybe I’ll go with Lost Cherry again.
Yesterday I wore B&BW Sugar Wafer EDT from their original Tutti Dolci line that I think was out from 2004-2006 or thereabouts. I’ve had this in my “get rid of” box for a long time, but now I think I’ll hold onto it. It’s quite sweet as expected but still very wearable and has a slightly chewy, doughy aspect to it that makes it more interesting. It reminds me of my beloved, discontinued candle Cakewalk by D.L. & Co. (Kevin reviewed that here).
So happy for a three day weekend and especially one in which we should have good weather!
3-day weekend for me too but not so lucky with the weather!
That was a great line for BBW. I wish they had kept it going.
Yes, I also liked the Amaretti in that line. Some really solid, interesting gourmands
More vanilla here! I’m wafting the late, great Eau des Missions from Couvent des Minimes. It’s a very soothing, snuggly scent.
Oh I love that one!
Me too! And it lasts on me — I spritzed it lightly last night, and I can still smell it on my wrists, very lightly.
Is yours from right before it got discontinued? Mine was from around that time but of course I need to locate the bottle to take a sniff.
Yes, it is. I’m not really into gourmand scents but I almost don’t count vanilla as one. Vanilla is its own category!
I went with Kate Walsh Boyfriend today. It reminds me of an orange frosted cinnamon bun.
Now to read comments..
I keep my eyes peeled for that one whenever I go into a TJMaxx because it seems to be a crowd pleaser. Haven’t run across it yet, though…
BBW Marshmallow Pumpkin Latte for me today. Got it on clearance during their semi-annual sale. Really a winner. Just enough coffee to make it not overly sweet. Doesn’t last too well, but I did get the full size so I can spray as much as I want. I had to get BBW Bonfire Bash from eBay. I wasn’t prepared for how sandalwood-heavy it would be. Still trying to decide if it’s a keeper.
You smell nice. Bonfire Bash is a keeper for me. I got the smaller version.
Shalimar Mexican Vanilla- about as foodie as I get. Nightmare week as we crank up for a new major system at the hospital. Wednesday morning some electrician diced to test some circuits and somehow turned odd the network connection to the entire hospital and the back generators, so we had no computers, no connections to computers from anything else, no internet phones. Quite a disaster, which showed us many holes in our downtime systems, and fixing those are now on our list of things to do once the new systems are up and running and the old systems are shut down, a process that will take quite a bit longer than I expected. I just keep telling myself how much better it will be when it is all taken care of.
You smell great! Job security but do you really want to continue working?
That does sound like a nightmare week…hope you get to relax this weekend!
Nightmare for sure, but you smell great!
Hi Deva! You’d probably have more luck at an online discounter. My bottle is several years old. I heard they brought it back so it could be out there somewhere.
I hope you and the cutie T-Rex are well. I lost my girl about 3 weeks before Christmas. We miss her terribly. Life isn’t the same without a best friend.
Oops, this was for Deva.
So sorry to hear this, Petunia.
Aw! Sorry to hear that you’re missing your furry friend Petunia. ?
Aww dang Petunia. I am really sorry.
Thanks so much for your commiseration. She really was the best dog in the world. We didn’t have her long enough but we had a lot of fun with her while we did.
What a lucky pup to be in the company of so much love.
Aww thanks. We were the lucky ones.
She was special. Sweet, gentle, smart, obedient and playful like a puppy almost to the end. She was one in a million.
Oh geez. That makes having to say goodbye even harder.
Just catching up late on comments. I’m so sorry about your puppy, Petunia.
It’s nice to “see” you here!
Not sure if you’ll see my reply but Thank you Gail. I appreciate it and have enjoyed connecting with all the wonderful people here.
Joining Robin in SDV today.
I’m so glad it’s Friday and the long weekend. It truly feels like we’ve lived through a few months of 2022, and it’s only been two weeks!
I know, right? You smell great in SDV – it was one of the contenders for today!
SOTD = 4160Tuesdays Over the Chocolate Shop EDP and The Extra Sexiest Scent on the Planet. Ever. (IMHO)
So while OTCS was somewhat disappointingly bland, Sexy (easier than typing the whole thing) was just the right level of musky, wordiness and deep vanilla!

We’re supposed to get bone-chilling cold and the snowstorm coming from the Midwest will just barely skirt the edges of my part of NJ! Cold I can take but I want the snow to stay away!
I’m going to get the same cold, but it looks like if I get any snow at all, it will get washed away when all that precip turns to rain on Sunday. You might be in for the same Squish Fest.
I am wishing the snow away from you! It looks like quite the storm. Miraculously it is going to detour around my whole state. Wind chills below zero though. I just turned my heat up 1 degree.
They are saying rain in my area on Monday so hopefully the forecast will not be too bad for us all.
I’ve tried SSOTP and liked it. I’m curious if you ever tested Centerpiece? I thought it was really well done.
Hajusuuri, clicking on Your photographs is just such a pleasure – every time. So nice to see “what You got” and the pictures are as always – beautiful.
Super late! I tried posting a little bit ago but it didn’t go through. So here is the short version, lol.
Sotd is Prada Candy Night.
I was having a hard time responding as well.
Oh well, we can eat our way through today’s comments. ?????
