Happy Almost-Friday and happy Veterans Day. (Plus, a handful of literary birthdays: Carlos Fuentes, Kurt Vonnegut, Shirley Graham Du Bois, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Mary Gaitskill.) What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm waking up slowly in Eau d’Italie Baume du Doge.
Reminder: on 11/12 we're doing Dealer's Choice, edition 5...propose a theme for a Friday community project, and wear a fragrance that fits your theme.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

SoTD: DSH Balls…Said the Queen
SoTMorning: Cultured Cup Creme de Earl Grey
Lippie oTD: Nivea lip balm in Blackberry. It’s a good dupe for Clinique Black Honey. I guess BH was recently rediscovered and is now hard to find. Did some research, and it originally was a potted lip gloss. Did not know that! ?
I love BH! In the 1990’s, they had a BH gel eye liner and shadow palette which was amazingly good. It made brown eyes pop and green eyes greener – it was fabulous stuff.
https://www.today.com/shop/clinique-almost-lipstick-black-honey-t231778
Lol, I’m pretty sure I have that palette! My green eyes need to go and look for it. Their eyeshadows in general were great. Plenty of pigment but not so saturated as to be hard to use.
Green eyes are beautiful.
They are!
They also had Black Honey nail polish for a while – I loved that shade.
ooo, black honey nail polish!?!
They got a lot of mileage out of that shade.
I remember that. It lasted much better than the Chanel Vamp.
A close dupe that’s still available is Dark Side Of The Moon nail polish by Deborah Lippman.
SD from Olive and June is also a close match.
Black Honey truly does look good on anyone!
In Canada, it’s Remembrance Day. I don’t have a scent that calls that to mind, so I’m wearing, just because, Boucheron Pour Homme EDP (so much better than the EDT), a rich, complicated aromatic floral chypre with oh so much oakmoss. Lots of scents smell good: this one smells *fascinating*.
Sounds like a good community project!
I mean: what perfumes are fascinating vs. pleasant?
Good morning.
Sotd is LV’s Etoile Filante. Light golden osmanthus tea scent.
Currently drinking osmanthus oolong to match!
Matchy matchy 😉
SotD is MM Russian Tea. Love it!!
I have ordered a bunch of Creed samples. One of them is Love in Black. I love and used to own a large bottle of Love in White. Very curious about Love in Black. Also purchased a bottle of Creed 2000 Fleurs. I found an authentic bottle and – click! – ordered. I got this because I LOVE green tea done by Creed (Asian Green Tea) and 2000 Fleurs has all the florals I love: rose, jasmine, violet, iris even lilac… but all this plus a green tea note in the heart!! Cannot wait until all of it arrives at my doorstep.
A Roses Diptyque candle has arrived yesterday and I am so excited to give it to our family friend along with a box of chocolates – a little “Thank You, We love You – Happy Thanksgiving!” gift.
Nice gift! And enjoy all of your new things.
Yay!! Thank You!! A Jo Malone candle arrived today too just now, another gift for another friend.
Happy almost Friday (and Veteran’s day in the U.S.), my SOTD is Bandit. Just because galbanum and leather is on my radar today.
Both the hubby and I are off work today, dentist later (ugh), but hooray for the 22 flights of stairs for the workout…
For now, coffee consumed and I’m off to the gym!
I badly need to get to the dentist. Luckily mine has no stairs 😉
Bandit sounds like a good choice to scare the dentist!
LOL, True! Someone’s gotta keep that guy in line! 😉
You smell great today!
Hmm. I may need to wear Bandit tomorrow. It’s going to be one of those days when one must be dressed for battle. You smell fierce and, yes, fascinating!
Happy Independence Day for Poland ?
I’m wearing Niral from Neela Vermeire on this first day of my 4-days-long-weekend.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CWIdajRI6d1/?utm_medium=copy_link
Great composition as always!
Thanks
Happy Independence Day Lucasai!
Thank you
Happy Independence Day!
Happy Independence Day!
Happy Independence Day!
Happy Independence Day!
Remembrance Day here, so we’re all home. Going for flu shots this afternoon; that’s about the only big thing planned.
SOTD will be Body Shop Smoky Poppy once I get showered. Right now SOTD is bacon from the kitchen. 🙂
Mmmmm, bacon! Happy Remembrance Day.
A poppy — perfect for today’s holiday, whether one calls it Remembrance Day, Armistice Day, or Veterans’ Day! Pausing to be grateful to all who serve or served.
My SodD is L’Artisan Mure et Musc Extreme, (thank you CobraRosa).
Having my second cup of coffee with a dash of pumpkin spice and creamer and two Brazilian cheese buns (pão de queijo).
I have the day off today, so I am almost on my way out to run errands. I am planning to stop by at Trader Joe’s to get 2 of their advent beauty calendars to add to my sisters Christmas presents and a bunch of their 99 cents chocolate advent calendars for some of my coworkers kids. Trying to keep things as fun and simple as possible, for the holiday presents this year.
Beautiful sunny, breezy day, before the rain arrives tonight and the temperatures drop down.
Happy almost Friday, everyone! ?
Good luck with your errands!
Thank you, Ha
juusuri
Fun and simple sounds like the perfect holiday this year.
Especially for our family, since we don’t know yet if my mother will be home for the holidays.
Ohhhhh, you smell wonderful! I adore Mure et Musc in all it’s forms. Happy errand-running!
Thank you, SmokeyToes! ?
Clouds showed up here much earlier in the afternoon than I was expecting.
The sky is still clear here, but rain should start very early in the morning.
Thank a lot, for the tea links! I ordered the Organic Double Dark Chocolate and the Chocolate Chai teas from the Republic of Tea. I am sure my friend will love them!
I haven’t yet tried the Chocolate Chai, but am considering getting it in my next order from Republic of Tea. I have tried a sample of their Bold Chai and liked it quite a bit!
Tonka Imperial today as I wait for my coffee to brew and my omelette to cook.
I thought I got off easy with the booster shot I got on Tuesday, but late yesterday afternoon- bam! Hit me like a Mack truck. Feeling much better today. 11 months since I had my first vax in December of 2020. Time flies!
Oy! I hope you get over it soon enough. I was a little apprehensive about today and still, so far so good. I was joking with one of my sisters that maybe I got sugared ? but heh, I did my part for myself and for others, however effective it turns out to be!
Oh, get better fast. But still better than the real thing!
Well, I don’t mind getting the “real thing” as long as I don’t have serious and severe illness. We will ALL have it eventually, right? Just beefs up
the immune system! ??
Ugh. Mine is tonight. Fingers crossed. Glad you are already better though!
Hope you’re smarter than me and take some Tylenol or ibuprofen!
Ha, nope, not smarter 🙂
I’m sorry to hear that! Hope you feel 100% better soon.
Oh, I’m alive and kicking which is 100% better than the alternative! Thanks!?
May I ask what booster you got? I am getting the Pfizer one tomorrow (got Moderna to begin with). I’m nervous it’s going to hit me hard like the first shots did.
I got the Moderna vax from start to finish. I think this one has higher incidence of “side effects” because it’s a higher dosage. I’m not complaining, trust me! I’m happy it gave my immune system a kick in the pants! I just went to bed at 4pm and slept till this morning, now feeling fine!
me too, Deva. The booster left me out of sorts but really it was my arm that hurt. I am nothing short of grateful.
Grateful has become an everyday mantra for me the past couple of years. I mean, I’m really, really grateful to be alive! So many medical professionals and people in general did not make it. It’s terrible tragedy that I hope history will not forget.
Hope you will be 100% tomorrow.
Thanks!
I had Moderna as well for my first and second shot (last one in June). Were your side effects worse this time than with the earlier shots?
I was fine after the first but the second made me feel like I had been hit by several trucks only to be shoved in a refrigerator afterwards.
Yes, from what I understand the first shot is a particular dose and most people tolerated it well. The second dose was double the first, thus the higher incidence of “side effects.” The booster is the same dose as the initial dose. Not sure why I had mild side effects after the booster…? Anyway, glad I got the booster, but I think I actually had covid before it was generally accepted as being here in the US. I had a very ill atypical pneumonia patient who was requiring more and more oxygen support, changes in LOC, etc., and he was coughing in my face the entire shift. Two weeks later I was so sick I thought I was going to die! I’m pretty sure that pt was transferred to ICU, but I don’t know what happened to him long term. 2 months later the US was acknowledging the existence of covid here in the states. ??♀️
And to be clear, my side effects after the booster were not as severe as the ones after the second Moderna dose. I did a 3 mile hike the day after that one and wasn’t sure I was going to make it?
Thanks for letting me know!
I remember you being terribly sick. I was starting to feel nervous for you.
If you don’t mind me asking, how long after the shot did you have that reaction? I’m trying to plan a Moderna booster for next week but I have some work and other obligations that I can’t miss, so I’m trying to channel my inner crystal ball and plan ahead …
I got the booster about 630 pm Tuesday and felt perfectly fine until about Wednesday at 3pm. Then extreme fatigue and some mild muscle and joint aches. Went to bed at 4pm and woke this morning about 830 feeling fine. To be honest, I think my reaction may be because my second dose of the Moderna vax was in January. Almost a year between second dose of vaccine and booster…so my rationale, based on zero scientific evidence, is that my titer was quite low. Just guessing. I’d be interested to know if folks who got the second Moderna less than 7-8 months ago have similar reactions…
I am at 7 months, so we’ll see how I do.
I had almost no reaction to Moderna #1 other than a very sore arm, then 24 hours of fever & aches & general misery after #2.
Thanks, that’s very helpful just to give me some idea!
Yay for having some time off for that booster shot just in case…
While some folks I know are sleeping in and going for a lazy brunch for the Veterans’ Day holiday, I’m on my way to work! But enjoying l’Ombre dans l’eau on this cool, dewy morning in the Bay Area.
Yum, you smell fantastic kleestof!
Wearing Deneuve right now. My sister texted me not too long ago telling me what my 10 year old nephew wants for his birthday. He is still really into Legos. She said he keeps asking for these larger sets but they are expensive. Looked on Amazon and they are. For 500 pieces or more, you are looking at at least $50 and if it’s something like Star Wars, it’s even more. Got 2 weeks to pick it out and get it to him.
Check Target if there’s one near you … or even online. Target started Black Friday sales on November 1st. Good luck!
Yes, when my son was really into Legos, Target was a great option because they often had sets on sale.
And the 5% off with a Target debit card was nice!
We still get Lego catalogs even though my son is now 23…anyway, one came last week and we were admiring the Titanic set… $629.
Also, sometime in November but limited to a specific date range, you can get Target gift cards for a 10% discount.
SOTD = Xerjoff Lira
From a swap with cazaubon and it is as gourmandishly yummy as I remembered it when I first tried it in 2015!

It’s Veterans Day in the U.S., a sad day of remembrance for some, a proud day for others (past, present and future) and a day off for others.
I probably should do some work-work but they will still be there tomorrow so I am likely to just relax and run errands for the rest of the day!
Enabler pin to you (if I remember correctly). Bought an airfryer. Like someone else on here (?sistine, ?missionista) I have decided that I need to make healthy eating a priority. Now is a good time to start as everything kind of tastes very bland and non-descript.
I did make that resolution – let me know how the air fryer works out for you!
LOL. My first air-fryer enabler pin ?. Here’s to healthier meals!
Every time I wear Lira I think it could really be my “signature scent” if I had one. You smell lovely.
Thank you!
Exactly right — all that stuff will be there for you to address tomorrow, and tomorrow is the right time to do that. For today, just relax!
I answered 2 emails and that was it!
Today was a good day to get errands done, if one was so inclined. I ended up sorting laundry and doing dishes. ?
Back to work tomorrow for me!
I’m wearing Barry Lyndon, from a new sample.
I am trying to imagine how it might smell, based on the movie: Irish countrysides, battle fields, lavish living and decay ( green fields, gunpowder, roses, tobacco , whisky and blood…?)
Volutes edp today. TF Ebene Fume and AT Sundowner have arrived, but with our good friend dying last week I have not opened them.
I need to associate them with something else or return them.
Might anyone have strong feelings (either way) about DSH Caravan Spice? am thinking about getting.
It’s so sad. It’s probably too soon but maybe keep them as a memorial in honour of the love and warmth of your close friendship, and a reminder of that, rather than linking them to a brutal end.
I have no suggestions, but offer a hug.
I missed the news about your friend. I am sorry for your loss.
I think I missed your news, as well. My condolences.
Btw, you might get an enabler pin for the Tom Ford.
I missed the news about your friend too. Sending hugs and love. ?
Thank you for the thoughts and hugs. He went so fast.
I’m so sorry for your friend, apsara. Sending you love.
Maybe wait for a couple of weeks on those new perfumes? Then make a decision?
So sad for your friend. Hugs to you!
Bottega Veneta from a sample. Maybe I need to put on more? It’s underwhelming at the moment. I like Cuir de Russie better. There’s a flood watch in Oregon today and tomorrow, so I am happy to be away and in the sunshine.
Yup. The ground is absolutely saturated here. All rain is now just runoff.
Inspired by your talk of arm knitting, I bought some Bernat #7 blanket yarn and cued up a YouTube tutorial. I got about halfway through it and HATED it! The stitches were not consistent and the whole think looked messy. I tore it all out and will try finger knitting to get smaller stitches and hopefully it will look better! Enjoy your sunny warm weather?
Feeling better. No perfume yet. Back to work for the adults and back to school for the youngest. I forgot to mention, we had the J&J vaccine early March and clearly a booster is needed after about 6 months. Again I have to mention what a scary virus covid is – we were vaccinated and even my husband (small, wiry, extremely fit) was really very ill. Enjoy your perfume, NST. And the smell of coffee!
Glad you are feeling better.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I still have one close relative (brother) who will not get vaccinated. It’s not political for him, so I have gone from sad to perplexed to angry. Sigh.
My husband’s mother won’t get it and he’s so frustrated and worried and perplexed too. Her reason is political though. So I don’t know if that makes it worse or better ugh.
I haven’t gotten it for medical reasons. Now, I’m ? I don’t have it.
I’m so glad you’re all recovering well! Yikes!
You are one of the reasons I went ahead and scheduled my booster. I get it tomorrow. I was always planning on it, but your post made me jump quickly to schedule it. Thanks. Glad you’re all on the mend.
Best wishes for your convalescence.
Wow, glad you’re on the mend. In the U.S., J&J boosters are recommended 2 months after the shot. Of course this decision was made 7 – 8 months after the vaccine was approved. I don’t understand why these decisions are made country by country if they are essentially the same vaccine (by maker)?
Nice to hear you are feeling better. We will wait for your perfume update.?
You are scaring the stuffings out of me.
Good to hear that you are feeling better. How’s your sense of smell doing?
So glad you and your family are feeling better. Scary indeed. My 8 year old got her first shot on Monday. Once it was approved for kids last week, I kept going into the EHR app and refreshing so I could get her an appointment ASAP.
The international film festival is showing here at the moment and yesterday I saw Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s Memoria which stars Tilda Swinton. It’s set in Colombia and Swinton’s character hears a kind of sonic boom that no one else is aware of, and the film is very sound sensory and immersive. Wearing Soto la Luna gardenia as a match to the lush settings.
It sounds interesting and Swinton is a stunning actress!
That movie looks fascinating! I guess they’re planning to never stream it, so I suspect I will never see it, but who knows.
SOTD is 5 o’clock au gingembre, dabbed rather than sprayed, to keep it classroom friendly. Autumn weather is coming back today — grey and decidedly windy.
Mascara question: apparently Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir is discontinued (or at least, no longer available at Sephora). Suggestions for a sub? I prefer ones that are available as minis so I can open a new tube every there months without throwing out a lot of product. (Yes, that means more discarded plastic tubes. No, that does not make me happy.) I put an Ilia and a Lancome mini in my Sephora sale basket, and can add one or two more of there is something worth checking out.
Let me know your thoughts on stuff you’re trying out. I’m always on the hunt for the perfect mascara.
I’ve read good things about Saie mascara. – that’s the next on my to try list.
I am fussy about mascara, but I hated the Ilia that comes in the tan tube. On me, it flaked but was also impossible to remove completely. I’ve had better luck with lancome, and I like benefit bad gal (which I think comes in a mini?).
No help. I just get the freebies whenever they are offered.
I was very impressed by Clinique’s mascara when I got one as part of a set — it went on very smoothly. Of course, then I went back to my drugstore favorites!
Maybe try one of the mini mascara sets that Sephora has?
Wearing Balenciaga Paris today, and it’s one of those days where I both love it and don’t.
I have those days with several scents!
I wore Goldfield & Banks White Sandalwood yesterday. It was….nice I think? Nacho had surgery yesterday. He ruptured a disc and a fragment was floating and it was all pressing on his spinal cord, cause the pain, lack of use and weakness in hid back legs etc. They had to go in and clean it all up. I was a nervous wreck all day, so probably not the best day to sample something new haha. Anyway, Nacho came out of anesthesia smoothly and had a good night considering. They have him up walking today but he’s pretty loopy from the drugs. I thought we’d get to see him tomorrow but now I don’t think it will be until the end of the weekend maybe (I think I misheard them in the chaos of it all happening fast). My poor little buddy….
In something familiar, Le Lion, today.
Oh man, that’s so hard to have a dog recovering at the vet. Big hugs to you, and air scritches to Nacho.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery for Nacho. You must be in agony to not be able to see him yet, many hugs to you!!
Glad the surgery went well. You will be reunited with Nacho soon!
Healing vibes for Nacho.
O, little Nacho! I hope the weekend zips by soon or you didn’t hear them correctly. My hospital let me call at any hour, and I really did. ? for you and Nacho. Loopy is good, not in pain, then. Probably, a little loopy at home, but your love will be his strength.
Poor little Nacho Man! I hope he recovers quickly ?
Sending healing vibes to Nacho and wishing him a speedy recovery!
Poor Nacho <3 glad he's on the mend!
Poor little guy! I hope he feels better soon!
Good news that Nacho made it out of surgery OK. Now it’s recovery time. Fingers crossed that it goes well!
Get well fast, Nacho!! ♥
SOTD is a sample of Boclet’s Vanille because Aurora mentioned wearing it recently. It’s really lovely! A slightly smokey vanilla with citrus. My CP this Friday might end up being wearing something someone on NST has worn recently, since I did this too yesterday!
Robin, I love the Venice photo today. It made me reminisce about my trips there. I love just about everything Venice, even the decay and impending doom about the whole place. It just makes it ever more special. Ok, I don’t love the gargantuan cruise ships come so close, a true abomination!
Your Doge scent sounds interesting. I wish Beautyhabit had a wider selection of Eau d’Italie perfumes.
So glad you like it too, Dulcis in fondo for less $$.
I love it too, although I was there before the big cruise ships starting coming in. Hopefully I will get back someday and the cruise ships will be gone !
I think Baume du Doge might be discontinued? Can’t remember.
I have a 4 day weekend, and today I got the huge treat of being able to go to a live yoga class. I hadn’t been to yoga in person since the summer, and really miss it.
My SOTD is Dzongkha – it seemed like an appropriate match for Remembrance Day. My thoughts are with everyone who is feeling heavy in spirit today.
I’ve been missing my in person classes, too. How lovely that you got to participate. A good thing to do for Remembrance Day.
Parle Moi Milky Musk today. It’s wonderful. Note to my very patient split partners: I finally received the bottle yesterday evening and will get these mailed out to you by tomorrow!
On another kind of crabby note – I realize that LuckyScent’s complimentary samples with orders are just that – complimentary. BUT I spent $200 (also bought a candle I’ve wanted) and of the samples they included, only ONE was what I had requested. Really?? The rest were available, so why? They could be missing out on a sale. Okay, that’s my rant for the day. (I remember one of you posting something like that before, but I hadn’t experienced it.)
I gave up on LS when I purchased a bottle that went missing and they refused to give me a refund for two weeks. When I asked them to send me a replacement bottle instead of the me refund, they told me they “were out of stock and that perfume is no longer being manufactured” which was a bunch of hooey because it was my beloved Papillon Bengale Rouge. Finally got a refund, bought a bottle from Twisted Lilly, who got it to me in 3 days. The original bottle showed up 3 weeks later in a mangle package from Utah, bottle and box open, everything shoved back in the shipping box. Lucky Scent and I are no bueno ??♀️
I think some other folks here have had the same thing happen with LS samples. Frustrating!
Bulgari Black, because I have not worn it thus year. Time for some skin time. It’s nice, but the rubber note clings to my skin, I would like a bit more sweet notes. And it reminds me of the Lapsang Souchong, that a former boss used to drink alllll the time.
Tried a new lentil soup recipe with roasted tomato paste and Parmesan rinds, that turned out great. Found it on the blog of TheKitchn. Com. I pureed the rinds, when they were soft to amp up the umami. The boyfriend was very pleased.
Sounds delicious and perfect for a fall or winter day. ?
Racing by to say that I’m wearing Tom Ford’s Noir de Noir today – I’m hoping to catch up on a week’s worth of NST over the weekend 🙂
House twins ?
You smell great. Noir de Noir is not really “me” (meaning that it kind wears me rather than the other way around), yet I love it!
Smelling quite good today!
Got the booster today, so far so good.
In the UK we celebrate Remembrance Day on the Sunday following 11/11, the Queen is better and will attend.
I was in EA Green Tea honeysuckle so as not to offend at the medical center but tonight I am in TF Noir Extreme.
Happy Booster Day and Remembrance Day…
Thank you Deva, I will listen to the ceremony on the radio, there is lovely music.
Hoping that your side effects are minimal!
Thank you Jalapeno, still feeling fine, but not sleepy.
Booster twins 🙂
I’m about to shower. So I stink.
Covid test is at 4. Thank you for your well wishes. You guys are the best.
Not vaxxed due to medical I really just walk my dog outside and follow protocol. I have asthma and my stigma disorder.
On Veteran’s Day, it is a mixed bag. For lots of us.
???!
?
My Dealer’s Choice perfume for today falls under the theme: “Ooh la la, pass me the riding horse crop . . . ”
Well in name, if not in scent. I’m in SL’s Nuit de Cellophane.
While the name may be errrr ahem suggestive, the fragrance is a fluffy bunny hopping through jasmine and peach trees.
The bunny could be hopping after the errrr…
I’m wearing Shaal Nuur but it isn’t hitting the spot. Should have been something warmer, this is too “fresh” somehow.
I tend to reach for it most in spring, I think.
Wearing Chypre Palatin, a rather solemnly beautiful scent. It is part of my MCDI sample set and I doubt I will ever need a full bottle, but it does hit the spot every once in a while.
That bottle is gorgeous.
I’ve got full bottles of Promesse, Enlèvement ans Un Cœur en mai, not the fancy bottles though. But they do have tassels.
Nice collection! Tassels are pretty sweet, too.
Sotd is Niral, such a warm and comforting iris on a chilly gray day.
Ahah! You are becoming a Bertrand Duchaufour faithful!
I definitely drank the BD Kool Aid!
It felt like a cozy caramel kind of day, so I’m wearing samples of Candy and SOL Cheirosa ’62 (I wish they had just called it Bum Bum). this is my first time in a looooong time trying Candy and it is much nicer than I remembered. I think I originally tried it in Sephora and formed my opinion based on the first five minutes. Turns out I rather like how it mellows after a few hours. SC’62 is just fun. My nose brain keeps telling me there is coconut in-between the caramel and roasted nuts, but I know there isn’t. I’m not big on beach vacations, but the next time I take one, I’m going to wear this the whole time.
Drinking Clipper Ship Earl Grey and trying to come up with small gifts for Mr. Vee to fill our advent calendar.
Prada Candy surprised me when I first tried it… much less sweet than I was expecting. I’ve come to the conclusion that it would be travel spray worthy since I am not a fan of rollerballs.
I don’t think I’m going to need more than my sample sprayer, but if I do, I won’t be able to resist going for at least 1 oz because that bottle design is the intersection of chic and playful! ??
There used to be or maybe there still is a Sephora perfume sample set for which Prada Candy is one of the perfumes you can get with coupon. I think the size is the super cute 30mL.
This is how you earn so many enabler pins!
You are right — this Candy sample came from a Sephora sample set. I knew I wanted a 50ml of the SOL Cheirose ‘62, and it was less expensive to buy the sample set and use the Sephora coupon to get a FB than it was to just buy a FB of SC ‘62. So I think perfume math makes the whole thing free, no?
LOL. It is indeed perfumath free!
Finished my sample of Rosarium. It’s a fairly quiet scent; I mostly got the woody mid-notes. I got this to try as an incense scent with a few other notes I usually like. Didn’t get the carrot seed or violet notes listed. It could just be my nose! It’s nice but I can cross it off the list.
Previewing one of the Dealer’s Choice themes I’m considering for tomorrow: Long Lost Loves, which can be a fragrance you love that is discontinued, or a fragrance that reminds you of any lost love: person, pet, place, possession, etc. For today: the late, great Ostara, from Penhaligon’s. Why, oh why, was it here so briefly??
Keeping Veteran’s Day in mind. It’s a somber remembrance for me, along with Memorial Day. A lot of my uncles and cousins served in the military, as did my Dad.
SOTD = ELdO Rossy de Palma Eau de Protection, from the sample stash. Still in roses today, but decided to switch it up a bit. ???
I like the name of that scent for Veterans Day also – on a few levels. Very nice.
I didn’t even think of that! Just decided to dive into the Sample Stash today.
Thank you to your family for their service!
Appreciate the sentiment, lillyjo.
Thanks to your dad and family for their service.
Back in the day, they didn’t think it was a big deal. Seems to be a common attitude among that generation.
Hoping some happy memories can comfort you.
Thanks Aurora.
Nice that you really appreciate your families’ sacrifices. Did your town do a service for the Veterans?
The town/city I live in doesn’t have a parade or ceremony on Veteran’s Day that I am aware of. There are places nearby that do, though. And I suspect that maybe some of them did something on Sunday.
My town does a beautiful ceremony. 11/11 at 11am 11minutes moment of silence. Names are read of town veterans and even mentioned my father. He lived in town, but was from NY originally. Music from the local school, kids read poetry. Not as many people attend as they would if they went just one time. Bummed I missed it this year.
Love that you chose Eau de Protection! My husband is a veteran (Navy), as are his older brother and father (Air Force). My dad was an Army veteran, like his father and brother. My English grandfather was a career officer in the Royal Navy. I’m grateful for your family’s service, and humbled by the many who have served to keep us safe and free.
I am wearing Acqua di Parma Lily of the Valley. My husband and I took a short to trip to Florida, then flew back home EARLY this morning. We left hotel at 5am this morning.
We will be home for less than 24 hours, because tomorrow we will leave early to drive to Tennessee for a family wedding. My goddaughter is getting married 🙂
Oooooooooooof! That’s quite the schedule! Enjoy the wedding, and continued safe travels.
Congratulations to your Goddaughter! Have a great time!
Safe travels! Enjoy!
Congratulations! And how did I miss that Acqua di Parma has a LOTV scent?? What is it like?
Posting and running from work. Sotd is Le Lion. On my way to work tonight my brother called to tell me his whole family has covid. His wife is very sick. Apparently they tried to give her the antibody treatment but she had some type of allergic reaction ( I really don’t know much about this) anyway he is mostly suffering sinus issues, he says the worst ever, and one child has already recovered. He is vaccinated as of 2 months ago.
Oh no, so sorry to hear this. I hope everyone recovers quickly.
I am so sorry to hear this, Lillyjo. They will be in my prayers. Hope they recover soon.
Oh no! I hope the allergy resolves quickly. I hope they are all back to healthy soon.
Oh I hope everybody will recover quickly, you must be worried.
So sorry to hear about your brother and his family. Hoping that everyone recovers quickly and completely! Hugs!
Hope everyone is healthy again, soon. Hugs to you, lillyjo, what a scare.
Oh, I’m so sorry — I hope everyone feels better soon and has a good recovery! I can’t wait to get my booster, should happen next week.
I’m so sorry to hear this news! I’m keeping your family in my prayers tonight.
Not to be a board hog, but…
I got my test and I ?did it wrong. The woman guiding me was letting me fumble around, when it should have been so much easier. Even opening the swab, she watched me struggle, when it was a snap. I had a line up of cars behind me and she just glared at me, like I was wasting her time. The ultimate kicker was thinking the swab didn’t hurt at all and it was just up and in 1/2 inch. Didn’t flinch. Took about 5 seconds each nostril. I wondered why people thought it hurt.
Luckily enough, Fresh Cream Suede made me smile.
Re: COVID tests. Mr. Jalapeno has had to take a couple of them prior to surgical procedures. He said the older ones went “almost up to my brain stem” and hurt like Hades. The newer tests he has had apparently aren’t as invasive.
Thank you.? You made me feel a lot better.
Still felt like such an idiot.
Yes, my son had some of the early tests and they were awful. WAY up his nose! Later tests were much easier and more comfortable. I think it had to do with where and how much the early tests had to swab to get reliable results. The university where I work has been using saliva tests for several months now, which is a further improvement. Glad yours wasn’t as awful as it might have been!
Those early tests are what I expected. Thank you for sharing your university experience. Sounds a lot smarter!
You guys are so kind.
