Tom Ford Ebene Fume ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 20 October 2021 16 Comments

Tom Ford has launched Ébène Fumé, a new unisex fragrance in the Tom Ford Private Blend collection.

Ébène Fumé conjures transcendent spiritual calm through the mystical powers of palo santo smoke, stoked by the warm elegance of cistus absolute, roses and seductive African ebony wood, captured in sleek, sublime notes of leather. "I wanted a scent that captured a meditative feeling. Ébène Fumé has an almost spiritual sensuality that uplifts your mood...which might be the most seductive indulgence of all." - Tom Ford

Additional notes include black pepper, violet leaves, juniper, papyrus, resins and lignum vitae.

Tom Ford Ébène Fumé is available now at Macy's, $263 for 50 ml Eau de Parfum. (The fragrance will also be sold in 10 and 250 ml.)

I’m going to have to smell this if only because I’m compelled to smell all TF fragrances. But I still resent him for charging such outrageous prices. It’s highway robbery! But some of his stuff is brilliant. Velvet Gardenia remains one of my favorite perfumes.

The prices are appalling, but hear me out: after I got that 10-mL spray of Lost Cherry during the Swapmeet, I thought, “This is *totally* worth the $85 CAD that Sephora is charging.” The packaging is luxurious, an elegant, perfectly sized travel spray with tight-fitting magnetic cap. On a per-mL basis it’s highway robbery, but if you’re never going to empty a 50-mL bottle, why would you want anything more anyway? I’ve actually been looking at some of the other travel sprays: $85 now seems reasonable to me. Isn’t that a shock?

I thought the same thing about my Lost Cherry travel spray and agree–way too much on a per ml basis, but I don’t need more and it’s a classy presentation. I’m enjoying it and will check it others as well.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll check them out. I’m really liking the bitter peach… $85 is manageable. And you’re right, I’m never going to empty a 50 mL bottle with all the perfumes I have.

His stuff is highway robbery. But somehow I ended up with a full bottle of Rose Prick.. ugh! Got me again

I am good to go with the 10ml.
    There, that decision is over.

I agree they are expensive and not all of them exceptional.

But for the one I love, I still think the price is reasonable due to their sillage and longevity: just a couple of sprays and I am good for the whole day; when I do 3+ people think I am over spraying.

So, for that price, the bottles last longer and they are (in a way) more convenient that others.
