It's Hump Day and the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, and Paul Simon is 80 years old. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Vilhelm Parfumerie Purple Fig. If Wooster had bought Purple Fig (although likely, what he'd have bought today would be something like Paco Rabanne 1 Million or Dior Sauvage) Jeeves would concoct a scheme to make him give it up for something more dignified.
Reminder: 10/15 is Sir Pelham Grenville Wodehouse's birthday. Wear a perfume for Jeeves OR Wooster. If you have never seen or read anything about Jeeves and Wooster, pick a favorite comic character from any medium, and scent that character.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Good morning NST! Wearing By the Fireplace again as I will be tomorrow, too. While it’s fun having a slumber party with my 94 year old mom, I’m ready to go home. Is it wrong that I miss the cat more than my husband? Ha!
why no, it isn’t wrong at all.
?
In Hermes Paprika Brasil, which I love and have been hoarding. Time to start spraying lavishly and enjoy it!
Happy Wednesday! ??
Opps, in the wrong place. Sorry!
You smell great wherever you post ?
Thank you! ?
OOoo that sounds nice, I’ve never smelled that. I imagine you smell wonderful!
Thank you! It is a beautiful spicy iris scent. Hope you have the chance to try it soon!
SmokeyToes approves of missing the cat over the husband….
Definitely approve of missing the cat! My kitty missed me when I was away — she’s not normally an affectionate cat but parked herself squarely on my chest last night and didn’t want to move. 🙂 I missed her, but then, I was having an affair with a younger cat at my sister’s house so I still got my kitty time.
Well, that’s the thing, I can talk to my husband on the phone but there’s no substitute for kitty time ?
So when I was at my workshop this weekend, I talked on the phone with my husband while the cat was (as is often the case) lounging on his chest. Apparently, the cat recognized my voice and started nuzzling the phone.
Aww that’s nice 🙂
I always miss the dog more than my husband. 🙂
+1
I think it would be weird if you didn’t miss your cat more than your husband. So there! 🙂
Not strange at all. I do the same thing!
Following PriscillaE’s footsteps from yesterday and wearing Paris – Édimbourg today. About to dive into work, hope everyone has a good Wednesday!
You too Adrihazel!
Narciso in the white cube. Going through this decant at a steady clip. It really is all occasion appropriate.
My deskmate is about to leave for Rome for two weeks. I am green with envy, but on the bright side, I can wear some of the heavier cold weather things I’ve been craving without bothering anyone ?
You smell great — I got the rollerball travel size of that a couple months ago and have been wearing it a lot!
I’m envious right along with you!
I’m envious for you! i hope your workmate has to smell strong perfume while in Rome as punishment, ha ha
She’s not grinchy about it or anything! We just have no windows in our sad little office so I try to be polite and not stuff it up.
Well it’s still rude to go to Rome for two weeks. ha ha.
Glad you don’t have a grinchy desk mate tho!
VERY rude!!!
I’m wearing vintage Zibeline pdt, from a decant. This stuff was good.
🙂
oye ve the alarm was a shocker I was so asleep. For a 5:30 meeting that got pushed to tomorrow.
Ambra Nepal for another chilly day.
Thank you all so much for the many hugs yesterday for my mothers birthday remembrance.
Oh, to have to get up so early needlessly! The worst.
Oooh, you smell great! I have an ancient bottle of Ambra Nepal, it doesn’t get mentioned much.
Delayed hugs to you…a mother’s love is irreplaceable.♥️
I hope you found out about meeting delay while still in bed so that you could at least snooze for a bit longer?
SOTD = D.S.&Durga Durga, a tuberose bomb, one of my favorites. Weather chilly but more or less sunny so may warm up.
Coffee is some organic in house light roast from my grocery store with vanilla chai flavoring from a place that sell stuff with collagen in it, Native Path (no affiliation!), which is tasty, and the collagen, which I have been taking for awhile, seems to help my creaky old joints more than expected. I usually take that sort of hype with a grain or cup of salt.
My motivation to work is in the negative range, hence me posting here are 10:15 in the morning. 🙂 I am having fall nesting behavior, and want to dry pears in the oven, and make bread and butter style pickled watermelon rind, another recipe from my grandmother, from the last of the watermelons which will not ripen in this chilly weather.
All right, Happy Fall, everyone…
Wow, I wish I was subject to that fall nesting behavior! (But I do understand the lack of motivation to work.)
Good to know, I always pass by D.S & Durga for some reason, I’ve been seeking out tuberose perfumes lately
Collagen powder helps my “achiness” too.
I got a really good cup of coffee today at a new coffee place. I don’t know the name because the sign and logo is small, but on the onning, they have a very clear sign that reads “really good coffee” so I’m calling it the really good coffee place 🙂
I have succumbed to fall nesting behavior what with the cool, rainy and overcast weather we’ve been having ? Yesterday I made a cake and whole wheat oatmeal bread dough. Today, 2 pots of soup, including potato-leek to have with a freshly baked loaf if the aforementioned bread. Which we’ll have tomorrow when the temps go back into the 80s ?
Good to know about the collagen powder. Any recommended brands?
I’m wearing a few drops from a decant of vintage-ish Cabochard EDP, which is dirtier and snarlier than the (also vintage-ish) EDT that I have: the EDP reminds me a little of Mitsouko EDT with its vicious oakmoss and teeth-and-claws savagery. Some days you just feel like getting your claws out, y’know?
When it comes to perfume, oh yeah. I know! I was a long time learning to appreciate the fresh and the sweet.
Oh, Cabochard, interesting! I saw it at a discounter’s last week and wondered if it would be any good, but realised I had no idea at all of what it was supposed to or used to smell like. It was new, in a gift box for Christmas, and so cheap that I guessed it couldn’t smell of much… ?
In Hermes Paprika Brasil, which I love and have been hoarding. Time to start spraying lavishly and enjoy it!
Happy Wednesday! ??
Nice choice. Water dragon gave me a travel size of this and I lapped it up.
Also, Wednesday!
Yay!
I always spray enthusiastically when I decide to wear it! It is such a cheerful iris scent and the only Hermessence that lasts almost the whole day on my skin.
Missing WaterDragon here!
I was just thinking of waterdragon the other day…
I was too!
Yes to Hermes and to enjoying your “Most Loved” perfumes!
?
Like Apsara’s post yesterday, today would have been my mom’s 96th birthday. She passed away in the summer of 2020. What a lot of life she saw! She grew up in Seattle and it still feels like her city rather than mine, even though Mr. SP and I moved here back in 2017 from Colorado. As I mentioned the other day, she didn’t like fragrance much, but did wear EA Blue Grass on special occasions. But since I love fragrance, I’m wearing JPG Classique EDT, a big beautiful rollicking good time orange blossom on me!
It’s wonderful to have your mom for so long. I love today get my mother talking about when she was growing up in the 30s. Hugs, springpansy.
Thanks, A!
yes, our mothers lived through an extraordinary century.
Yes! Wish I could have talked more to her about it.
Sending hugs to you on your mother’s birthday, Springpansy! ?
Thanks, PL!
Hugs, springpansy.
Thanks, M!
what a blessing to have your mom for so long! Hugs and more hugs to you SP. 🙂
Thanks, ST!
What a long life. I wonder if she had a favourite decade? Warm wishes to you, hope your memories comfort you.
I wonder, too. I have so many questions for her now. But her last years were not healthy ones for her, so I should have asked much earlier.
Big hugs to you on your mom’s birthday.♥️
Thanks, She-ra!
More hugs!
Thanks, allo. Never too many hugs!
Hope you have lots of happy memories to think about today.
Hugs to you as you remember your Mom.
Big hugs, SpringPansy. No matter how many years, they feel like never enough.
The questions part is hard.
Seems like you had a beautiful bond.
Happy hump day all! SOTD is vintage Opium – thick and syrupy, spicy goodness. An extra spritz, just because.
Good luck to William Shatner on his trip into space! Launch was successful. 🙂
Finished Season of the Dragonflies (enjoyable light read) and will start reading Passing by Nella Larsen. Written in the 1920s, it will include Harlem as the setting in which the story takes place.
Coffee consumed and running shoes on, headed out the door for a three-mile walk! I’ll practice yoga at lunch – today is recovery day, light, restorative activity.
Wow, you are smelling fabulous!
Thank you! This seemed perfect for today. I may wear Theorema tomorrow….
Oh my, have not read that in many many years. Going on memory it was not light reading.
It wasn’t bad! It had romance and perfume, along with the relationships between mom and daughters.
I should have been specific…I have not read the Season of the Dragonflies and was talking about Passing 🙂
You’re smelling great!
Brrr cold this morning and thermostat is not working so no heat. Will be wearing Guerlain Le Plus Beau Jour de Ma Vie again today (wore it yesterday but didn’t have time to post).
Indeed was cold this morning…46 at my house…going to try and hold off on the heat for a long as possible. 😉
Whoah! That is legit cold. Can’t possibly be normal for this time of year?
Hmmmm love that one!
Yuck on the not working thermostat!
I’m in MCMC Noble today, just a good, cozy scent for a chilly day. It seems to have decided to be winter here, all of a sudden. We pulled out of a stargazing weekend we had planned for Friday-Sunday, since it’s supposed to be snowing in the mountains.
I got an email from IKEA today that the closet system drawers I need are in stock, so instead I guess I’ll be gearing up for my next reno project: Putting a closet system into the understairs closet. At one point it was proposed that they would rip out the closet and put in cabinets / pull-outs under the stairs, but then I saw the price tag, and decided I’d just paint and put in an IKEA closet system myself. At least the timeline for finishing that one is entirely on me…well, assuming IKEA has all the parts.
I love my IKEA kitchen–based solely on that, I bet they do a great closet system too. Can you get one of their planners to help you plan out what you’ll need?
They have an online planner that I used — just have to order, cut and install it!
Ellie Saab Essence Ambre No3, it’s better than I remember it. Now out for a walk with the boyfriend, today its sunny!
Enjoy your sunshine!
I wore the Elie Saab Gardenia Essence yesterday and it really grew on me. I reapplied twice (even wore it to bed) and craved more this morning. The Amber is worth checking out, then?
If you like amber, I think it’s worth a testing.
Drained my travel-sized flask of Nuit de Tubereuse this morning. I think I got it in an NST swap or even possibly as a freebie at some point. The DNA for Bertrand Duchaufour’s later work for Neela Vermeire is very clear in this one. I have enjoyed it, but won’t be replacing it. I have others by Duchaufour that I prefer. I am buzzing with tuberose, mango and spice.
What are your favorites of his?
Even several of his perfumes that haven’t worked out for me, I have enjoyed–like Rose Cut and Vaara. But I’ll name a bunch that I own/have owned: Dzongkha, Mure et Musc Extrait, Rose Privee, Timbuktu, Traversee du Bosphore, Bombay Bling, Mohur, Noir Exquis, Pichola, Rahele, Chypre Shot, I Miss Violet, and of course the now empty Nuit de Tubereuse. I think he was behind some of the newish Miller Harris perfumes–Pixel sent me samples that I also enjoyed but am now forgetting their names. Guess you could say I am a fangirl proper!
Thank you so much for this list. I have recently fallen hard for Dzongkha and counting the days until it returns. For whatever reason, it wasn’t on my radar when I started exploring fragrance and L’Artisan in particular. I just got a bottle of Niral for my birthday and am already pining for Mohur. I also have a bottle of I Miss Violet on the way after PL76 shared it with me and I now know what I’ve been missing. I can see what you’re saying about the Dzongkha/Neela Vermeire shared DNA and look forward to continuing to explore the family tree!
Hello NST! You all smell lovely! Whuf, what a time I’ve been having lately. We went on our first proper trip since forever, which was good, but someone else who was on the trip tested positive for covid so we got tested and my husband has it, boo. The vaccine is doing its job and his symptoms are not bad so far, but his sense of smell went a bit wonky yesterday so no perfume for me for a while. I’m still fine. Hoping I stay fine, and his symptoms stay mild.
Thoughts and prayers, pixel! I hope nothing more comes of the exposure, and that Mr. Pixel’s nose gets well quick.
Hope he recovers quickly, and that the other person on the trip recovers quickly too. And that you don’t get it!
Fingers crossed that you stay Covid-free, and that your husband recovers quickly! I’m glad you at least got to enjoy your trip before this aftermath.
Pixel!
So sorry about your husband. Wishing you the best and a safe recovery for all.
Oh no! I hope your husband recovers quickly and you stay Covid-free. Sending healing vibes!
Oh no, hope covid passes quickly for your husband and stays away from you.
Thanks everyone! Hopefully this will all be over by the end of next week.
Oh so sorry pixel! Yes, the vaccine will do its’ thing. My sister was out flat for a week w/breakthrough. then fine.
Will think good thoughts.
Hope your husband get better soon and you continue to feel well!
How was the trip?
Hoping you both get through the aftermath quickly and are back in good stead soon.
My husband was informed my his workplace (which is a freaking covid factory – they’ve had like 100 cases there – my H being one of them) yesterday that he was a close contact to a covid+ coworker. We’ll both be fine, I trust, but won’t be seeing David Sedaris tonight as planned.
Oh shoot.
I’m also hoping that you stay fine and your husband’s symptoms stay mild. Sending out good vibes for you both!
So sorry to hear your health news and sending healing thoughts for your husband.
I also think of you every time I populate my “spice racks” with perfume bottles. Thank you again for the idea!
Yuck! Sending lots of healing vibes and crossed fingers for you.
Oh no! Wishing Mr. Pixel and your trip mate the mildest of symptoms and speedy recoveries.
Oh boy, not what you wanted at all! We have friends who had a breakthrough infection, and he got over it pretty quickly, and she never got it. (They quarantined in different parts of their small house.) Hoping the same for you!
Oh NO! I hope that you don’t get it, and that your husband’s symptoms remain mild. That sucks.
Please keep us updated pixel!
Watched the launch today. After all the build up towards it, it was kind of anticlimactic. Was in Happy earlier and now in Pleasures. Going into work a little later than normal today.
Those short up & down stints don’t have the same excitement as SpaceX or shuttle launches for me either. But 90! Holy cow!
SotD Aura Eau de Parfum Eau Sensuelle. It’s very much like Aura edt. Enjoying a sunny Fall day. Mr. Mossy and I had breakfast at IHOP, which I had not done in over 30 years. One recently opened in our town, and we stopped in after an early errand. I had the “Swedish Crepes,” which were quite good. The lingonberry topping was not ghastly-sweet nor runny, and the crepes themselves were nicely browned and tender.
That’s what I always order, they’re yummy.
Those crepes sound yummy! I haven’t been in an IHOP since sometime in the early 1990’s…
I haven’t been in an IHOP in forever!
Woke up to very chilly temperatures this morning, so I’m in Ummagumma for warmth. Mr. G sniffed my wrist and pronounced it “spicy”, which it is … but I’ve come to expect more discernment from him. Ah well.
Yum! I get a lot of incense from that one.
Ooh! Incense!
It is yum — the incense/amber duo is just perfect. ?
Spicy could mean more than just the smell ?
???
So you’ve met my husband. ?
😀 😀
RAWR! ??
I’ve been thin on posting lately but I do check in and read comments every day. Pretty much going through hell with a knee injury and now am scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning on it. It’s lucky that I got in due to a cancellation. This is arthroscopic surgery and so less bad than my shoulder replacement from late July but I’m still just not really in the mood for another operation. Lately I’ve taken out my two OJ full bottles and been alternating between Taif and OJ Woman. At least I smell nice. Hope to be back posting before too long.
I hope everything goes well tomorrow. I can totally understand your mood. There’s nothing like illness and chronic pain to turn us into a very unpleasant version of ourselves. Hope this is the LAST procedure you have for a long, long while!
Good luck with your surgery!
Best wishes for your surgery, and a quick recovery.
Good luck and speedy recovery Calypso!
I’m sorry, two surgeries so close together isn’t fun at all, but neither is being in pain 🙁
I’ve missed your posts and am wishing you all the very best for your surgery and recovery and an end to pain and discomfort.
Oy! I hope the surgery goes well tomorrow and the healing that comes after!
Thanks for keeping us posted – I hope your surgery will show quick results!
Big hugs, Calypso…wishing you a successful surgery and speedy recovery.
So sorry to hear about your troubles. Hope the surgery goes well and you’re back to posting with us soon!
You do smell nice. And good luck tomorrow!
So sorry to hear this, wishing you a speedy and complete recovery!
Good luck tomorrow! Wishing you speedy recovery and relief!
ARGH! That’s a d@mn shame about your knee. But I am glad to hear you will be getting surgery on it. Best of luck with that procedure tomorrow, and speedy healing.
Wishing you good luck tomorrow and a quick recovery afterwards.
Very good luck — I’m sure you’re not in the mood but hope this will fix things up lickety split.
Hi everyone!
I’ve been off for a couple of days. Taking a break from work for a week and doing some stuff for myself plus a bit of travelling to recharge batteries.
But I’m back home now and will be spending the rest of this week just being lazy. I didn’t have any serious summer vacation this year so I deserve it.
Today I’m in Memo Winter Palace.
Enjoy your well-earned rest!
You smell nice!
Yes, some chilling out time is definitely well deserved!
In Papillon Anubis by default because its clinging my fleece sweater. I’ll give it a bit of a boost with a fresh spritz.
I’ve had this decant for a while. Tried it when I got it but really couldn’t come up with an opinion one way or the other. At times I thought “Oh, nice!” and at other times I thought “Too masculine.” So, trying now, months (maybe years?) later and still don’t know what I think…I’m usually not this indecisive but there it is.
We had a few days in the No Phone Zone as we did some exploring. Ran into some snow at higher elevations, saw a badger face to face in the wild (?), and wimped out of doing the the Crater Lake Rim Drive after I hit a patch of ice and my rear end went one way and my front end the other. Thankfully, my Midwestern Muscle Memory kicked in and reflexively turned into the skid. ?
The road up there is crumbling and narrow. My van is big and wide. My fear of heights took over. I’m not too proud to admit my phobias, and I’m still hoping one day I’ll make it all the way around. Maybe when there’s NO ICE on the road. I got as far as Phantom Ship, turned back and drove the opposite rim for a while, but I just wasn’t enjoying it. Thankfully there was minimal traffic and I pretty much took my half out of the middle of the road. Oh well! Here’s a photo for those interested:
https://instagram.com/stories/vantasticviews/2683244748506175365?utm_source=ig_story_item_share&utm_medium=copy_link
*Shudders* at your skid story – but good moves! I’m not on Instagram, so I could not see the story, but I am glad I tried because I did get to see the magnificent slug you photographed – even though they eat my hostas, I still find them appealing.
I find them appealing too, but from a distance. Don’t know if you knew ElisaP, who used to comment here, but she responded to that IG post stating she stepped on one barefoot…?
She had to use adhesive remover to completely erase the slime! ?
Oh GROSS!
Indeed!
That is hilarious about the adhesive remover – the things we learn here!!
Phew! T- Rex is gorgeous ?
I like Anubis, but also find it a bit much for me. It may just be me, but I find Angelique to have a similar DNA but more manageable and wearable, more “feminine”. It’s the only Papillon I own.
T-Rex thanks you for the compliment! ?Regarding Anubis, it seems to wear a bit different on me each time- sometimes a bit floral, sometimes more smoky, sometimes I pick up mostly ambery bits. The dry down is quite nice! I really recommend giving Bengale Rouge a try. It’s one of those perfumes that seems to be unanimously liked/loved and is perfect for any occasion- from a day at the office (do we still have those?!) to date night. A very special scent IMO.
A badger, cool! Glad you survived the ice unscathed.
Omg, his face when he looked at me! He basically said “f*** off, human!” without uttering a sound! Then he turned, lumbered away, stopping once to throw another look over his shoulder. What a treat for me to see one in the wild. They’re pretty solitary and wily, so I definitely was not expecting to cross paths with one.
There will be time for the Rim Drive, when there’s no snow and ice! Love the snow, and T-Rex, and the Tolkien. 🙂 I can’t imagine driving up there in anything bigger than the Xterra I did it with some years back.
Yeah, hoping to do it in a smaller vehicle someday. But, I was gobsmacked when I saw a huge Class A driving on it! I mean, wow! Death wish much?! Kudos to you for managing the whole thing! Personally, I think that is equivalent to winning a Nobel Prize! ?
Yikes, yikes, yikes on that skid! No thanks!
My brother has seen a badger on one of his worksites. He said they basically looked each other over, decided that they weren’t going to bother the other, and went on their respective ways.
Ha! Yeah, this one sized me up and judged me not worthy. ?
Is your brother in construction? They are pretty reclusive, so I’m sure that badger felt he was doing your brother a HUGE honor by letting himself be seen! ?
For now, he works in the oil fields, at sites to maintain the wells that are already drilled and producing. He’s out in the sticks and the elements, and is getting tired of that.
Wearing Bottega Veneta today. But when I went to grab a mask this morning, it smelled really funky for some reason (I have no idea why), so I quickly spritzed some Pleasures on it. Thank you for the idea to spray the inside of the mask, NST. Of course, now I can only smell Pleasures. That’s not bad but I had been wanting to smell the BV…
I’ll add another thanks for the scented mask tip! I perfumed mine with Box of Eels EdP for a recent plane ride, and vintage Le Dix extrait for a night at the symphony! Such a fantastic idea.
You smelled great to the rest of the world, even if you didn’t get to enjoy the BV.
I’ve had this happen — for some reason sometimes the masks just come out of the wash smelling funky. I’ve started using odor reducers in the wash…won’t hurt the towels or workout clothes, either. I haven’t quite gotten to spraying my masks, because I worry about it being too strong.
I’ve discovered that not using fabric softener seems to keep my cloth masks smelling OK when I wash them.
Hello everybody!
Sotd is EL’s Beautiful Absolu. A gentle-r tuberose and creamy white florals. Feels like a comfy thin wooly sweater and I like that.
Currently on my second mug of coffee. Black and I like that too.
I’m testing Dior Bois d’Argent today, and it’s basically VC&A Bois d’Iris! Maybe a tiny bit less dense on the opening, and the woods aren’t as long lasting (at least on me). Still, they’re similar enough that I wondered for awhile if I received the wrong scent.
They are very very similar! The VC&A might be just a touch warmer, if I remember correctly.
So, irisjasmine, I immediately had to do a sniff-off of the two! Yes, they both have a lot of similarities, although Bois d’Argent is a more soapy, perhaps. While I’m glad I bought a decant of it, this means I can stick to my bottle of Bois d’Iris.
I still have a little left of the VCA in a decant somewhere, so I will have to do a side-by-side next!
Atelier Pomelo Paradis
Wearing a dab of Encens Mythique, it’s chilly in the office today.
A favourite Rich Lady scent! It will wrap a nice, fluffy robe around you and make you a hot drink while it’s there – or at least it will make you feel that way.
Great description!
You smell great, love that one.
Bombshell in Paradise. I thought it was going to be warm.
Thanks for everyone’s input on the concert. I had no idea how truly crappy my tickets were, and there were tons of empty seats and even rows around. I spent a good deal of time watching the show from the ? section, which was occupied by me, only.? I did sneak up to take a bunch of pictures, but even that wasn’t far. Lots of children, babies even. I’ve never been to a show like that.
It was a great time, a little strange not seeing my usual favorite there, but it was a good time.
Thank you guys for your kindness!
Need to reapply a warm scent. I might hit up the big guns and go all Angel.
Angel is a perfume I never regret putting on. Especially the edt (enabler points to Jalapeno on that one.)
Glad you were able to attend the concert! And I have to ask where you were that had a smoking section? I haven’t run across one of those in like 20 years!
I was at Indian Ranch, in MA, its a trailer park community and closes the season this weekend.
And I enjoyed the ? area! ?
Angel is always there for me.?
Wow, a smoking section, this definitely wasn’t in California! LOL.
Country music and CA like the ? sections.?
Glad that you went to the concert and were able to enjoy yourself!
Thank you, fellow music lover! I thought of you when there was some Skynard and head banging.?
Oh good!!
Yup.
And I brought a decant with me, too.
Thanks for all the advice.
?
🙂
In Hartnell Bright Stars which clearly shows some common DNA with White Shoulders.
I do not know my vintage perfumes well enough…have never even heard of that one.
Amouage Epic – it’s reminding me of Neela Vermiere Trayee
Tiny trace of snow on the hills following a cold snap. We don’t usually have snow in mid October, but it will be gone by morning tea. Wearing Plum because I read that is what PG Wodehouse called himself and it’s perfect for this weather.
I saw some snow here, on the other side, driving over the mountains in Washington state on Monday. Seems early, but then I remember that the last time we’d done the drive, pre-COVID, there was also some snow on the ground due to a freak snow storm.
And we are not usually 80 in late October, but I think that’s where we’re headed.
Good CP connection, and I love plum notes: Natori and Poison are two favorites.
SOTD = L’Artisan Parfumeur Natura Fabularis 25 Obscuratio
Oh my! It was love at first sniff: spicy, earthy patchouli, incense, and vanilla!
https://www.instagram.com/p/CU-r_MBLWEL/?utm_medium=copy_link
The bottle is beautiful as well.
Speaking of which, has anyone noticed that newer bottles seem to be rounded rather than rectangular-ish? I wonder why?
That sounds perfect! New release?
Yes!
Your sotd sounds really good!
Not sure if you saw the other day but the egg dish turned out great!
Yes I did – you added tomatoes as a topping. I had it for breakfast again this morning, this time with leftover mushrooms and pepper from last night! ?
Sounds lovely, I haven’t tried this one yet but the notes sound right up my alley.
Wow! Your SOTD sounds fabulous.
Trying Iris Malikhan today from a sample. It’s from a house I didn’t know- Maison Crivelli. Seems like a mixed media house with good use of raw materials. This perfume is definitely good quality with a hefty dose of iris! It’s a soft leathery iris with floral, evergreen and amber nuances. Really stunning. I’m comparing it side by side with Angelique papillon of which I am very much reminded and own a bottle. Similar, but I think I prefer Iris Malikhan as it has this ambery bright thing going on that makes it a bit sweeter and lifts it.
*Eyebrow lifts* I may have to look into this. Sounds lovely.
yummmmmm!
Quick spritz of LV Dans la Peau since I was going to be in a small group this morning. It wears close, but I caught whiffs as I was walking around the local TJ Maxx afterwards. (It’s a good TJM, which is nice.)
Another night where I realized at 10:30 pm that I wasn’t in the least bit tired. Which means a struggle to fall asleep. So, I read in bed, got up, took more Melatonin, drank milk…. Fell into a good sleep at around 2 am. Which meant not as much sleep as I’d like. I’ll catch up tonight.
Good luck, hope you get a good 8 hours tonight!
More than 8 hours!
Yay.
Wearing Trimerous from a sample today. It’s just beautiful, possibly fbw.
Yesterday I sampled a few 4160 Tuesdays scents; most notable so far is Over the Chocolate Shop. I also tried Both Sides of Clouds and The Sexiest Scent on the Planet, Ever. Both Sides was more interesting of those 2 to me but neither lasted too long on my skin.
You smell fabulous! Trimerous is such a great fragrance.
Robin, you’ve got Bertie pegged! Excellent choices for him.
Today I’m wearing L’Orientaliste Santal, which is just about my favorite sandalwood, and I wish I had bought another bottle, because I think that company existed for a nanosecond. Jeeves may have worn this; it’s not too masculine, but not too powdery. Perfectly discreet.
They made a nice jasmine too, and the prices were decent.
We *all* should have bought our favorite sandalwoods in the early 2000s before it all went the way of the dodo.
Ah, so you remember them! I never sniffed the jasmine. Just as well, I guess.
Bulgari The Vert to go with temps in the mid 70s and the emerald green blouse I am wearing.
I’d been curious about it in the oppressive heat this summer and got a bit from a swap (thank you!) I had a sample ages ago and remember using up an entire 2 or 3 ml decant in one wearing and still not really being able to smell it.
A few years ago I went from having scent-eating skin to having the very same perfumes being massively amplified, and generally wearing just 1 spray shared between wrists as that’s more than enough.
Has anyone else experienced this? It occurs to me that I also moved to drastically different climates in that time (from the never hot, dry summers and moderate winters of the PNW, to the humid and hot summers and dry as a bone icy winters of the midwest, to the oppressively hot humid summers and short and still humid winters of the south.)
But I’ve also had all these other weird things happen with my olfactory system – and also perimenopause (?) so I dunno.
Since I left the PNW, I have also had a hard time wearing big bold ambers and other wintry fare that I still love, but can easily be too much anymore. I find myself having to parse and only wear them when I’m up for having my perfume wear me.
I’ve had certain notes become difficult to wear in the past few years. I’m chalking it up to menopause.
Hmmm… Thanks for the input. I wonder if there’s any data on this. But, LOL, who am I kidding. Of course there isn’t.
I went through a few years of that with menopause as well – everything smelled super strong. Now I’m more often having the opposite issue, where I have days I can hardly smell anything. It seems to vary day by day.
I guess I might be on to something, then. My olfactory issues vary day by day as well.
Hello everyone, it’s late here in Europe and I am just about ready to fall asleep but I spent the day in L’Oeillet Bengale so that was wonderful.
Yep, you smelled great today 🙂
Yet another grey and gloomy day here. One of the local weather forecasters had a truly depressing stat about that last night, saying that the last sunny day in the area had been October 1. I’m over the lack of sun already. ?
SOTD = back in Silver Iris again today. It’s a cooler weather scent for me, so with the temps rising, I will have to find something else from the Sample Stash to play around with for the next few days.
Oh that is depressing. 🙁 I need my sun. Aren’t you in Texas? I would have thought it would be sunnier.
Nope, I am in NJ. It usually doesn’t get this socked in until winter, though.
We (here in Oregon) went from summer straight to winter this year. Granted, that’s kind of normal — if things run true to history, we’ll have one more week of “summer” (really, warm autumn) before things truly settle into the Cold Grey Drizz until … oh, next July. Except for that one week we always have in February, when it’s sunny and gets up into the 70s at the coast. I don’t understand it, but it’s pretty consistent. One of the many reasons I love Oregon. ?
I really, really do not miss this. :/
Today was all gray and gloomy. That said, I got a delivery of something I was not expecting until Friday (lots of handwringing because I will be in the office on Friday). To be revealed soon!
Yay for you getting a serendipitous delivery! I’m looking forward to hearing what it is…
SoCal is sunny and perfect today! Not looking forward to returning to NJ. I’m wearing a sample of Isabey Prends-Moi. Nice but not a FB nice.
NJ is supposed to be almost summer like in temps until this Sunday.
Does anyone have any new favorite perfume houses for me to explore? I discovered Rogue Perfumery and they actually have quite a few fragrances that I really like….
Try Dame Perfumery. There’s alot to choose from and the prices are good too.
I agree re: Dame (and Rogue).
Soivohle isn’t new, but Liz Zorn doesn’t keep what she offers static. Things get introduced and discontinued.
Checking in late and largely scentless today, just to report that I had a little bergamot candy from Bergamote de Nancy today, and it was heavenly. Tasted a bit like edible Jicky…
mmmmm. That sounds like a wonderful stocking stuffer.
Intriguing idea on that candy!
Oh, very tempting!
Mmmm, sounds delish!
Tried PdN Cuir Cuba today now that there is *bit* of a chill in the air. Fantastic! Another one where I have trouble identifying any particular notes. Overall it comes off to me as warm, rich, and full; without being spicy or sweet. I get licorice, sweet tobacco, hay, and coriander. I’m not surprised to see the civet note listed, because I think that is where I’m getting the sensation of fullness. I also get some of the ylang ylang.
Drinking London Fogs today as a treat while I deal with a very annoying work thing.
Sorry you had annoying work stuff! I can sympathize.
Working late but chiming in with my sotd… Tendre Poison.
I really need to stop hoarding it.
Yes, wear The Precious! It would be such a bummer if it turned before you thunked it.
Spray away and enjoy!
