Happy Almost-Friday! (And, a bunch of musical birthdays: John Lomax, Ray Charles, John Coltrane, Julio Iglesias, Bruce Springsteen, Ani DiFranco.) What fragrance are you wearing?
I never smelled Miss Piggy's 1998 fragrance, Moi, but if it didn't smell like Robert Piguet Fracas, it should have. So that's my fragrance today.
Reminder: 9/24 is the birth date of Jim Henson and F. Scott Fitzgerald. Wear whatever fits for whatever reason — scent a muppet or a Fitzgerald character, maybe? (Extra reading: We Deserve The Muppet Great Gatsby at The Verge.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image is a screen shot from the promo for the 2014 QVC lifestyle collection Moi by Miss Piggy (I am pretty sure that collection did not include a perfume).
Good morning way too early from west coast.
SOTD is Rose Ta’if again. I could still smell it on my bathrobe, so why not smell great again?
Has anyone tested St. Rose fragrances? There was a brief mention in NY Magazine yesterday. the Desert Nomad and Gypsy Cowboy look interesting.
Why not smell great again — a pretty good reason for a repeat!
Hello fragrant friends
I am in the queen today, Shalimar, I am doing a week of this beauty. Though this one is my favorite, the Madagascar flanker. Very smokey vanilla sexiness.
I got a hair cut yesterday and my hair stylist finally made me cave. She has been wanted to give me a copper brown glaze and told me to come out of the closet (she thinks I am a closeted red head) I was back and forth. Finally the last straw was, ‘Do you know your eyes are actually hazel? If you don’t believe me let me dye your hair this color” And she was right. I love the color. It won’t last so if I change my mind it washes out eventually. I have to say I am in love. So was Mr. L. And my eyes actually do have a lot of green. Never knew.
Your hair color sounds gorgeous! Glad you love it.
You both smell and look great.
Your hair sounds lovely.
Your stylist sounds awesome!
Your hair sounds gorgeous! Yes, the right hair color is so important to brighten and bring life to our features.
Agree! You might need to tweak your makeup colors a little as well, depending on your pre-bronzed-hair makeup palette.
I saw it on the ‘Gram and it looked great! It’s subtle, not shocking, and yes it is definitely a very flattering new look!
Thanks! I think its very pretty for fall. Today I am in a gray t-shirt and the color stands out even more! The photo on the Gram I am all black and you can’t see it as well. Kids love it too
Great story, and how wonderful to still be surprised as an adult!
Sounds great – it’s fun to be a bit adventurous!
Sounds very fun that you took the chance on the new ‘do, and you smell wonderful! Glam On!
It’s fun to have a glaze put in every so often to change things up a bit! Yay you for taking the plunge!
I’m wearing ELdO Hermann A Mes Cotes… again. This may be full bottle worthy.
I’m in Narciso Rodriguez for her L’absolu from a generous NSTer.
It’s another gorgeous fall day here. The nights have been getting quite chilly but the days are sunny with blue skies. Yesterday we ate lunch outside basking in the sun.
My son is home and I am loving it. We spent the whole day together yesterday just talking and catching up. In the afternoon he hung out with his “baby” sister playing video games and I could hear them talking and laughing together. My favorite sounds in the whole wide world.☺️
In skin care related news, I’ve been using a new retinol cream at night from First Aid Beauty and so far, so good. My skin has been tolerating it and I haven’t woken up with red, flaky skin.
You smell fabulous! Yes, retinol can be quite irritating until the skin acclimates. The anti-aging benefits are so worth it though.
Thanks! Yes, I tried one from neutrogena a few years ago and my skin did not like it. I gave up for a few years and am trying to dip my toe back in. This one is .25%, I’d like to work up to the Drmtlgy one that’s .5%- have you tried that one? Agreed, when I met with an esthetician several months ago, she said the anti-aging routine should be vitamin c in the morning and retinol at night.?
I use Retin A on my face and I love the retinol from DRMTLGY for my neck/chest area. It is a great product.
Retin A and retinol use is complicated. It’s well worth the benefits, but I started out very slowly, with an over the counter retinol every two nights (non-consecutive nights), after two weeks, increased to three times per week.
When I graduated to real Retin A, I edited everything else in my routine, no more scrubs, limited use of acids, and switched to a mineral sunscreen, which I found was less irritating.
I use Olay Retinol night cream, and I am not afraid to admit I buy it from Costco. HAHA! Its gentle on my skin for everyday, and I have very sensitive skin. Since I use it everyday I figured why not buy it in bulk..
Ha! I’ve been using that one too! My bestie recommended it for sensitive skin. I went through a tub of the regular and now I’ve just about finished a tub of the “MAX” I think my skin is ready to handle something a little stronger. I have no idea the % in Olay and when I emailed the company their response was that they could not divulge that information.?
Odd response, especially if it is a “drug”! What if you’re allergic to a higher concentration?
Probably means the amount is much less than what is considered effective!
How was twins! How wonderful to spend time with your son
Awww, your kids make me smile.
Another chilly rainy morning. Wearing Satellite Padparadscha to have my own personal space heater ?
Oh my, you smell great! I love that one and have a half bottle somewhere.
Another “I wish I had bought a bottle when it was available!” scents. You smell terrific!
I thought it was gone, then found a large decant in my cabinet a couple years ago and I’m thrilled….I wish I had a bottle too.
Fog burning off, looks like another sunny day. Off for a bike ride later this morning. A bit tired and cranky after a rough night’s sleep (too hot, snoring husband). I’m going to wear M/M Ink.
I had a similar night’s sleep ☹ I kept wishing I could point the remote at my husband and press MUTE.
Enjoy the sunny day —
I had a sleep talking husband and a child who woke up with a nightmare. On my fourth cup of coffee today
Me four with the noisy sleeping husband and bad sleep! Sometimes I just lie there for awhile, astonished at how loud it can get, before attempting a nudge.
Oh boy. Does THAT ever sound familiar. I’ve also wished for a husband-muting remote. How can they NOT hear that racket?
Every time we watch the Crown and they go to separate beds I say to Mr. Vee, wistfully: they must sleep SO WELL!
I am a big believer in separate beds!
I actually have my own room in our BC house to sleep by myself, but not in San Diego. It is wonderful to be able to escape the noise as he is a hard sleeper and cranky when woken.
Get them all tested for sleep apnea. My Cpsp machine changed my life, and my husband’s.
Dzing today. Cloudy morning but at least it’s not raining. I’m not even sure I should say this out loud, but we *may* get some of the last loose ends done in the reno today, and then the contractor will take his equipment that’s been sitting here mostly unused all summer, and then I can have my dining area back. It’s been like pulling teeth to get the contractor back here to finish a bit of painting and put back the pot light they took out. Fingers crossed.
Once that’s done, we’re just waiting for the refrigerator panels to come in, and we’re done. It really shouldn’t take 6 months to renovate a small kitchen, but here we are.
Very good luck — crossing my fingers too!
Oooooooof. Hope that the end of your reno is sooner rather than later!
Morning all, my SOTD is Narciso Rodriguez Musc Oil for Her (2007). In need of a soft comforting scent.
Didn’t get a good night’s sleep, my MIL was hospitalized and had emergency surgery for blood clots in her lungs.
I may take a nap later but for now, taking a walk to clear my head.
Oh wow! I am so sorry ST! I hope your MIL has a speedy recovery.
Oh no…joining ltsg in wishing her good health.
Wow, so sorry to hear this! Hope they are able to get this under control ASAP!
Yikes. I hope she recovers well.
I’m so sorry to hear this, I hope your mother-in-law will be OK.
We are house twins today
I hope your MIL will be OK, and that you’ve been able to clear your head and catch up on sleep. Worry-induced insomnia is so frustrating.
Yow! That sounds scary. Best wishes for your MIL. Hugs and a virtual cuppa for you.
I hope her surgery will be a success; and, yes: sometimes a walk is the best thing at such times.
Wishing your MIL a speedy recovery!
I hope she recovers soon!!
Good morning Y’all,
Went with Mon Guerlain EdT this morning and I’m wafting a bit of vanilla cookie in the office….good stuff!
Vanilla cookie makes office more tolerable
Ain’t that the truth!
Hi wore that yesterday! It smells different on me every time
Sotd is Antonia’s Flowers Sogni del Mare – I really like this one and wish her line hadn’t gone away.
It’s really a shame.
That is such a pretty scent, I also wish it hadn’t been discontinued. I have her Tiempe Passate and treasure every drop.
Wearing Georges Rech Vert Galant today, really nice cheapie!
And talking of cheapies, for those in the UK, Aldi are doing some more of their Jo Malone “tributes” online now and in store on Sunday if you’re interested – Myrhh & Tonka, Bergamot Oud and Peony.
Thanks for heads up, will check them out on Saturday when I’ll be near an Aldi!
I’m wearing Zelda today for the CP and because the cool, foggy morning calls for it. The funny thing about this perfume is I’ve been saying for years that I’ll buy a bottle once I use up two generous spray samples. Well, I finally finished one sample in the late spring and still have more than half of the other. This perfume is so strong that I only need 1 tiny spray to each arm and my neck, so at the rate I’m going, it’ll be 5 years or longer before I finish this remaining sample.
And maybe by then you’ll come across another sample
Sitting next to my mother’s bed in the hospital after spending the whole night in the emergency room. I am waiting for the surgeon to arrive at any time now to see how her serious case of diverticulitis is going to be addressed. She has been unconscious the last couple of hours. God will provide.
I am still in the remnants of Diptyque Venise from the Sniffapalooza masterclass last night. I like it, but I don’t feel I need a full bottle. In some way it reminds me of Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay. Maybe my nose is playing tricks!
I am in urgent need of my second cup of coffee. I hope to get it soon!
Happy almost Friday, everyone!
Sending you lots of hugs and another cup of coffee!! I hope your mother gets well soon.
Oh no pl67! I am so sorry! I hope you hear something soon. Sending good thoughts and positive vibes to you and your mother.
Thinking of you and your mother perfumelover, sending positive thoughts to you.
Oh no, that sounds scary! ER’s are always so stressful and even moreso in these trying times. I hope they can find a solution. I’ve been there, with my mom, and know how exhausting it can be. She is lucky to have you.
Handing you a cup of coffee..
So sorry! Your Mom is lucky to have you
So sorry to hear this pl67. Sending good thought to both of you.
I hope you get answers soon. Sending you hugs and some ☕
So sorry to hear about your mom! I hope they can help her get back to her baseline and control and pain or discomfort she’s having. ❤️?
O, PL67. I am so, so sorry. From the late night ER to watching your mother, you are most certainly exhausted. Not to sound like a know it all, but I always left my phone number for the drs and attending nurses and P.A.s to contact me when I needed to get food or water.
You are a wonderful daughter and God has provided your mother with you.?
Prayers for your mom.
I’ll revisit Venise, but really liked the final one. Very expensive, though.
Prayers for your Mother and for you.
What lillyjo said!
Oh no! I hope the medical professionals give you and your mom a good solution. Hang in there!
I’m so sorry, I hope your mom will be OK ?
Sending you hugs (if you want them) and healing vibes to your mom.
I am sorry to hear that your mother is so unwell, I hope she makes a good recovery.
Oh no! So sorry to hear that your Mom is in hospital. Big hugs, and thoughts of strength and healing for both of you.
Sending you and your mum lots of fragrant virtual hugs, and comforting thoughts!
Sending more hugs and energy to carry you through the day.
Hoping your mom can have some swift help and healing!
Biggest hugs to you and healing vibes to your mom.
Hope you got that coffee, and do update us later if you can!
I’m so sorry to hear this. My thoughts are with you and your mom.
I’m a day late to the Kermit greenery…. wearing PDN l’eau mixte.
We are Kermit twins!
SotD is Iris Fauve by Atelier des Ors.
I’m wearing La Fille de Berlin this morning.
That is a sexy rose
You smell wonderful – I just love LFdB, and rose scents don’t normally work for me.
Same here! The roses I like and can wear are few.
I was wearing Hermes Jardin sur le Nil, but it’s all but disapeared 3 hours later..this is so fleeting I forget I’m wearing it, I’m glad I got a cheapish travel bottle on eBay.
That sounds like an excellent summer scent.
I’m not really up on either the Muppets or Fitzgerald novels, and so not really CP-compliant. I’m wearing St Clair Scents First Cut after re-trying Pharaoh’s Passion yesterday. Among the ones of hers I’ve tried, Eve is still far and away my favorite. I should be buying a BOB or I’ll be sorry.
I considered wearing First Cut yesterday but the Zoologist Bee flapped its wings.
Don’t be Sor-reeeee….
Very limited connectivity where I’m at, but Holy Krakatoa, Batman! The CROWDS of people and cars! So glad I was able to explore this area in ‘18 and ‘19 before the incredible surge of people.
Not CP compliant, but very Place Compliant in SB Smoked Ambergris.
My scent today is Oscar de la Renta Esprit d’Oscar.
My husband and I are taking the day off today and tomorrow as an early anniversary celebration, and the weather here is gorgeous. I am wearing a bright yellow/orange blouse with turquoise jewelry. The turquoise earrings and necklace were my anniversary gift. When I thought of these bright colors, I thought Esprit d’Oscar fit them. We are going to an outdoor restaurant today and I am very excited.
Happy Anniversary! And great choice with Oscar.
It sounds like a wonderful day ahead.
You smell wonderful – I need to take E d’O out for a spin again.
Happy Anniversary in advance! ??
It’s cool again here, so I’m in Memoirs of a Trespasser … more for Fitzgerald, but now I have a mental image of Kermit sitting in a dark library, whisky in one hand and a cigar in the other.
I can see that, but then I can also see the cigar causing Kermit to cough uncontrollably, which he tries to stop by taking a gulp of whisky and that only making it worse — cue audience laughter. The Muppets have such great physical comedy, especially considering their range of motion is so restricted.
ZOMG! What a great mental picture you painted there, Vee!
Hello, everyone!! Lately I have been super busy… Working hard and raising my daughter. Commando still today, will see post shower. I have just been wearing either Cypress Shade or Chinatown lately these days.
So, what did you choose?
Soivohle Vine Street for me today. I really like this one. I spent a few days in Maryland and DC and I got bitten. All summer in Denver and nothing bit me. Don’t miss bugs and don’t miss east coast humidity
I kinda miss the humidity (I’m in the desert now, and have become partially mummified as a result), but the bugs I can definitely do without.
The only time I got nailed by a mosquito this summer was in Colorado, at my brother’s house. Ironic.
What? I can barely go out my back door.
In a spritz or two of Stash, plus Kiehl’s musk on my wrists. I am having Love’s Baby Soft flashbacks.
In other news, I have made a new spice discovery, or spice mix discovery. New to me only! Ras el hanout. If I had a perfume that smelled like it, I’d be a very happy woman.
I like Stash — you smell good!
I’ve got a jar of Ras El Hanout in the cupboard and it is indeed yummy. Maybe Arabie, for a perfume equivalent?
Maybe! I need to try that one again.
Sauteed carrots & chickpeas with ras el hanout in a pita. My perfect cool weather lunch sandwich.
We have both in the house (no pita though) and I am tempted to try this for dinner!
Rice would be a good base too. I’d recommend adding some cumin for this dish, it goes so well with the carrots.
I’ve never smelled your “new to you” spice mix. Something for me to discover later on!
So, FYI. I looked up various iterations of the mix, and some have cumin. My version does not. I am a bit of a cumin-a-phobe in perfume (although not in cooking!!), so depending on your feelings about cumin and whether the mix you sniff has cumin in it, ymmv about its gorgeousness as a potential perfume scent.
I have no problems with cumin in either cooking or perfume. But I am definitely intrigued by the idea of a new spice blend for my spice cabinet! Especially with the weather turning cooler. Ras El Hanout sounds warming.
SOTD = Chanel No.19 EDP
It’s not easy being green, said Kermit the Frog. Points for CP-compliance.
So I ordered a sample of Eau de Jane having heard so much about it. My order was acknowledged on August 1st. A month went by and I haven’t heard anything. I was just about to send a follow-up when I got an email with a mea culpa and to watch out for the package. It is now September 23rd and still nothing. Should I let it go and just wait for it to come or send a follow-up? I don’t want to come off as uncaring but almost 8 weeks for a sample is a long time to wait. The last time this happened was when I ordered from Australia and the perfumer lied through her teeth for 3 months until she found someone reliable in the U.S. who sent me the samples (they were NOT good).
I think any kind of moderate to high expectations for ANYTHING these days is a lesson in futility and aggravation. I have stopped ordering from Amazon, ordering from Luckyscent, ordering almost EVERYWHERE, stopped all splits/samples because people/companies just straight up lie. I don’t blame you for being angry, but either you need reset your expectations or stop completely because otherwise you will be in a continuous state of aggravation. Sorry.
I was just talking about this with some co-workers as I tend to be very direct and I pretty said that I probably come off as being too aggressive but what Au really want to convey is confidence.
You are absolutely right about setting expectations. As in, hey fellow employee, why do you think the company has to reimburse you for losing food in your refrigerator because of a power outage? Or why am I not eligible for a disaster grant (small) — ? maybe because you uh, make $400k annually?
So CRAZY! I’m much like you and believe in being direct. But, I have been watching people (well, I’ve always been an “observer,) and have seen how people lie with a smile and often get away with it. There is no truth, objectivity, or impartially anywhere any more. ?
I would ping them again, that wait is unacceptable.
I emailed her and she responded and will make it right. Her shipper has been incommunicado for at least 2 weeks or more and apparently only sent half the packages.
Where on Earth is that sample coming from? It’s been almost 2 months. It’s time for another ping, methinks.
Agreed. That is too long! I emailed her and she will send me one from Canada, which could be problematic but let’s see how this works out!
That is a long wait if they said it was on the way. That said, I’ve been trying to give a long grace period for orders to arrive because the supply chain is a mess right now, and on top of that the post office is dealing with unusually high demand while particularly understaffed. I appreciate the companies (like Scents of Wood) that are doing a good job of communicating those issues to customers so we can calibrate our expectations.
I agree with you and indeed, Scents of Wood makes people aware of issues. Eau de Jane is having issues with the shipper and will send me a sample from Canada. Time will tell!
Narciso Rodriguez fleur musk
It’s raining and howling here, I had lunch out with a friend and the restaurant lost power temporary Lee
Raining cats and dogs here too… and thundering and I’m sure there’s lightning.
Same crazy weather as hajusuuri, but I definitely saw lightning! ⚡ Very happy that I did not get the promised (threatened?) 60 mph wind gusts today.
I’m wearing Jubilation 25 today. I meant to get a sample of XXV, but ordered 25 by mistake. I’ve made worse mistakes. Lots of resin, incense, brown spices (the labdanum), ylang ylang, rose and patchouli. It is brown and viscous; translucent but so dark that you aren’t really getting much light passing through.
I have mixed feelings about this one. It is undoubtedly a beautiful perfume; but I’m not sure it is a scent that I would actually wear, especially since I like my incense to lean woody, whereas this leans fruity. The projection is also nil. I have to have my nose just barely away from my skin to smell it, and I put on a good amount.
Drinking black tea w/ chocolate & coconut.
Interesting thoughts on Jub 25. I find that it is a floral incense on me rather than fruity. Maybe my sample is older than yours, or from a different batch?
My sample arrived a few weeks ago, and I assume ZGO makes decants them to order, so probably a fresh decant but no idea on how old their supply is. I do get the floral notes as well, so perhaps the incense is better described as leaning fruity-floral, but “fruity-floral” feels like a pejorative descriptor these days
That is a pity about fruity floral being a put down. Some of them are well done. But it’s the cost of a genre having become ubiquitous.
I have seen in person how different people can smell completely different wearing the same perfume, so I could also chalk it up to skin/personal chemistry.
Chamade for me on a beautiful spring morning. It definitely leans green, and so more Kermit than Miss Piggy, but it has a beauty that I’m sure Miss Piggy would have aspired to.
Yes she would!
I’m in Penhaligon’s Elixir, a nicely spicy incense with cardamom, a little rose, and lots of woods. I like it a lot. It’s probably my favorite from this house (although the bar isn’t set too high, since they haven’t produced a lot of scents that I love).
Readers, for those of you who read my Rite Aid rant from earlier in the week, it just got worse. I went back to the drive through, because after thinking about it, I felt that I really shouldn’t have to go set up a new account at a different pharmacy. Everything went sideways very quickly. It was probably one of the worst customer service interactions I’ve ever experienced. The pharmacist refused to fill the prescription, and when I objected, started telling me to pick up my prescription from the tray and leave. I kept saying, “Wait, why on earth would you refuse to fill my prescription? That’s ridiculous.” Ultimately, he turned his back on me and walked away from the window, leaving me sitting there in my car, kind of stunned.
Needless to say, yesterday I set up an account at a different pharmacy in my little town, and got the prescription filled in about twenty minutes.
I FEEEEEL you so much! People, even people in the service industry, are angry and rude, seemingly getting away with it because everyone is short staffed. Yesterday I went to a campground and spoke with the “Host” and asked him if there were any available spots for one night (because none of the sites had updated dates). He told me “Make a reservation” as he turned his back and walked away. I said, “I’m not able to make a reservation for tonight because of the way the reservation system is set up!” Which he KNOWS! His response- “That’s you tough luck.” I was so shocked I didn’t have a response, which would have been pointless anyway since he was already back in his camper. ?
I get that everybody’s a little on edge. I’m there, too. But sheesh. How hard would it have been to say, “I’m sorry, there aren’t any spots left,” or “There’s a spot left, but I can’t let you have it unless you make a reservation,” or “No, I can’t give you a spot.” I know nothing about hosting campgrounds, but even I can come up with 17 different responses that would have been better than that.
Oh my God! This is worse than ridiculous. And to top it off, at least at Target, the pharmacy is not even Target-owned so speaking to a manager is probably speaking to the pharmacist. I’m thinking revenge-shaming thoughts so I should just stop here.
hajusuuri, I so wished YOU HAD BEEN THERE WITH ME. I’m not a wallflower by any means, but it left me speechless and weirdly uncertain about how to react. I sat in my car, looking at the pharmacy window, wondering what to do. After about a minute, it was clear that nobody was going to come to the window and address me, so I drove off.
I went home, got on the computer, and filed a complaint with their corporate office.
If I were with you, I would have said to turn off your car engine until someone came out. You were there to have an order filled and the pharmacist had no right to refuse you service.
FFS! That is HORRIBLE! And people wonder why some prescriptions go unfilled…
Wow, that’s dreadful!
Running late all day today. It was SO hard getting going this morning. There’s not enough caffeine in the world for days like this one. Still a little out of it. Lots and lots of rain, thunder and lightning this afternoon. But! There is the promise of absolutely beautiful early fall weather for tomorrow, w00t w00t!
Spooky has been getting a probiotic treat before her lunch for the past couple of days. She did eat some of her wet food today, so that’s definitely an improvement over how she was doing yesterday. I have a different probiotic supplement to try after the treats are gone. I figure double-dosing is a Very Bad Idea.
SOTD = Clinique Wrappings, to cut thru the thick humidity!
Glad to hear Spooky ate some wet food today. If it gets to the point where you think you might need a specialist for her, email me offline. I take one of mine to a specialist to treat her lymphoma and as far as I’m concerned he is the best in NJ.
Thanks Vee. In addition to Spooky’s potential food allergies, the vet thinks she might have IBS. Her condition is much improved over a year or two ago. She used to throw up multiple times a day in addition to the, um, other issue.
Glad Spooky kitty is doing better. Do you ever give her Churi (not sure of the spelling)?
Yesterday was just Spooky being picky. She ate plenty of her kibble, which is a prescription food. Based on observation, I think that she might have a food sensitivity or allergy to chicken and turkey. Duck seems to be fine. So I am trying my best to feed her “novel proteins”.
I tried feeding her some plain yogurt when she had severe intestinal issues, and she rain away from it. So in addition to being picky, she is also skittish.
Glad she ate her food today; that’s a relief!
Thank you for your incense rec’s yesterday; I’ve started a couple sample orders early this morning.
In the meantime, I mixed some frankincense and sandalwood essential oils with my moisturizer as my sotd; for some reason I completely forgot about my oil stash. I guess I don’t see them every day as they are in the spare fridge. Out of sight, out of mind!
I hope that you find something you like in those samples. OTOH, it’s a good thing to use those essential oils while you can. Rancid oil is a nasty, nasty smell! ?
Good for Spooky!
Cold and dreary here, but have also been promised a beautiful day tomorrow ?
Here’s hoping that we both get that promised good weather! ???
Brooklyn by Gallivant today. A happy scent for a day when I am feeling anything but. I just feel like I want to hide in a cabin alone for a few days and recalibrate. Alas, that ain’t gonna happen. Smelling good though!
I’m sorry you are feeling down sistine. Hopefully you can get a good night’s sleep and feel better tomorrow.
Can you take mental health days? So sorry you are feeling down.
Sotd was Tobacco Vanille.
It was a crazy work day. My boss said we are supposed to have 84 people hired for the Christmas season. Lol! Not gonna happen! I really wish I knew how my customers are getting so much money. I work all week just to struggle the next week. I swear to you, our customers are spending so much money it’s mind boggling.
My store just got an award for being best in the district. Job security.
Childcare assistance $300 per month per child; there are nuances but they pale in comparison to having the money on hand to those who qualify. Also, if they are paying via credit card, credit seems to have been easier to obtain.
I figured the 300, but geeze, it’s just been a madhouse all year.
From my unscientific observation, I am seeing mostly cash and debit. Maybe 30% credit.
I noticed a lot more people in the grocery stores the last 2 times I went. Maybe everyone is stir crazy and buying on credit?
On the plus side, there were a lot of very polite people the last time I went to Wegman’s. Notably so.
In honor of F. Scott Fitzgerald, SOTD is 4160 Tuesdays’ An Excess of Carelessness, a major love for me. I could also turn to Tocca’s scent Liliana, which makes me think of a young Daisy, as I wrote about here: https://scentsandsensibilities.co/tag/the-great-gatsby/.
