It's Nordic Friday! Our community project for today: wear a fragrance inspired by, or made by a brand from, one of the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway or Sweden).
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm in Maya Njie Vanilj. Jessica says Vanilj is a sibling to the brand's Nordic Cedar fragrance, and features a "distinctly traditional Swedish combination of Vanilla and Cardamom". And yes, I smell delicious.
Reminder: 7/23 will be Sitcom Friday...name a favorite sitcom, and wear a fragrance that reminds you of the show in general, or one of the characters.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Woo Hoo!
I’m 100% community project ready.
Wearing Silk by Andrea Maack.
It doesn’t smell like the notes list but like a fully sterilised stainless steel bench in a very cold room would smell if it had a smell.
Oh wow, that scent sounds kinda cool! Almost like Calandre smelled to my nose…
Calandre! Yes, I can definitely see how it could also conjure the same connection.
I’m for bed now after having a lovely bubble bath. Silk was fun but now I’m spritzing
Byredo: Black Saffron.
Super weird. Starts sweet and fruity but ends up smelling like leathery road tar.
One of my faves.
“Leathery road tar” kind of sounds like how Fahrenheit smells to me.
I’m wearing Byredo Pulp for the CP. This is a sweetness bomb after the last two fragrances I wore this week.
I do love Pulp! But I will probably buy Purple Fig instead since it comes in travel size.
I don’t have anything that qualifies, so I’m in Hiris, which smells cool, minimalist, and refined. Close enough!
Happy 716 Day! (This only applies to Western New York… our area code 😉
Zero motivation for work today. It’s so muggy. When will this humidity break?
You smell marvelous! Hiris is so cooling and chic.
Good thinking!
mmmm, Hiris is wonderful.
I wear it then think I should wear it every day.
You smell fabulous. 😀
Oh, I went a different global direction and put on Indochine. As soon as I open a bottle, I order the bub. This time, Luckyscent had it on backorder for over a month. Was getting a tad nervous.
Donatella, forgive me – I ordered a full bottle of OJ Damask yesterday.
Indochine is so good.
so good.
Apsara, I so relate to “open the bottle, order the bub.” I just did that with Fils de Joie; I have also done it with vintage Je Reviens (not hard to do) and vintage EL Cinnabar (a good opportunity was just…there). I have been good otherwise, shifting some time ago to thinking not of BUB’s but of “second bottle ’cause I am using it up.” That would be last quarter’s purchase of 75ml of Mahora!
vintage EL cinnabar…such a stunner.
I think, like so many older scents, Cinnabar was meant to be a signature fragrance: it permeates and lingers on clothing, and the drydown on skin is so cozy and uplifting and can last for a day…maybe more! That said the current version is very good and does stay with you. I passed my new bottle on to my sister since I have all I’ll ever need.
Morning all, I have nothing for the CP, my SOTD is Alessandro Dell’ Acqua by Alessandro Dell’ Acqua – a favorite powdery/spicy/musky floral.
Happy Friday! WOO HOO! 🙂
I love the name of your scent, any opportunity to practice my Italian
Thanks! It does roll off the tongue rather well! 😀
Robin you smell great! I used my sample of Vanilj up and added it to my never ending full bottle list.
If I were cp compliant I would have gone with Vilhelm Dear Polly, Byredo 1996 or Vanilj. Instead I’m in JM Lime Basil and Mandarin because it’s so humid out.
I really need to add some Nordic inspired perfumes to my collection. My beloved granny was the daughter of Swedish immigrants and (I know I’ve told this story before) when I was little one of the greatest compliments she could give me was to say “you look just like Greta Garbo!” She usually said this to me when I would put on a pair of big sunglasses. I had no idea who Greta Garbo was, but my granny loved her.☺️
Off to get madtownteen a PCR test today. She heads to summer camp next Tuesday. We’re in the final countdown now!
Summer camps! Oh, how we miss those. All the overnight camps up here cancelled since we were in the circuit breaker lockdown until late May. When they finally announced then that overnight camps were good to go, it was way too late for them to staff up and train.
Bummer. That is so sad for kids.☹️ Camp was canceled last year and so this year she gets to go longer as a sort of consolation.
That’s great! I hope she has fun!
Our consolation this year was a Zoom fundraiser for the camp where they had a number of decently known indie artists come on and sing campfire songs. 🙂 Next year…
Come on up here. Humidity is low today with mild temps. Hope Madtownteen has a great time!
Thanks LizzieB!
I think your good weather made it this way. It is definitely less humid this afternoon and the temp is 79, it’s just perfect!
Saw your comment the other day and glad the package made it safe and sound! What do you think of Lea?
I hope madtownteen has a fabulous time at camp!
Thanks sistine, I hope so too! Her sister is already there working so she is counting the hours til she joins her.
I loved your Greta Garbo reminiscence! Reminded me of the time as a young girl I was getting ready for my first ballet solo and my beloved teacher put some makeup on me and pulled my hair back and up and told me I looked just like Audrey Hepburn.❤️
Aww, that’s a sweet memory. Audrey was one stylish lady!
Hooray for camp and I hope Mtt has a great time! Also a dear Aunt of my once told 9 or so year old me that my eyebrows were going to be like Elizabeth Taylor’s. I did not know too much about her, and was not too girly at that age but I remember feeling it was a good thing!
Thanks MossyBerry! That’s cute, I’m curious, was your aunt right?
Ha – I am not the ET type, but: my Mother and sister were fair while I had medium brown hair, and my Dad and my Aunt did not have marked brows, so I think she was just being a dear lady like she always was. It’s nice to remember all the kind and encouraging things Aunt Winnie said. She was a dedicated wearer of perfumes too, various Avons and Miss Dior (Mother liked Diorissimo) for special occasions.
Your aunt sounds like my Auntie Connie.
Those ladies were such a wonderful treat to know!
Safe travels to madtownteen!
Thanks Jalapeño!?
Happy Friday!
I’m joining what is sure to be a big Byredo Bunch today with Rose of No Man’s Land, courtesy of SheriG. I get fresh, creamy, pink rose. No powder, but not sheer or jammy either. A bit soapy. Some green leaves, but not a “full plant” rose with stems and leaves and earth. I’m not getting the claimed raspberry note. There is a hint of amber; I’m curious to see if that will become more prominent later, as I am only about an hour in right now.
Drinking Darjeeling, but wishing it was vanilla chai after reading about Robin’s Vanilj. 🙂
I’m going for Byredo tomorrow morning.
Rose of No Man’s Land is such a wonderful name for a perfume. That would be so fun to tell people if they asked.
I hope that someone does ask, and that you get a compliment!
No CP point for me this time. In Jul et Mad Aqua Sextius.
Happy Friday Everyone!!
Inspired by my recent gift of Japanese Cherry Blossom I have been on a search to try some more Sakura stuff. I love Japan – as I mentioned before I grew up on everything Japanese. Anyways, I just ordered some non-related Bond no.9 Chinatown.
1. Got a great deal on it. 2. Next to Park Avenue (original) it is my favorite Bond. 3. My most favorite fruits that I HAVE to eat daily consist of anything in the prunus family (cherry, plum, peach).
Also forgot to mention that I am extremely curious about MCD Sakura, Jo Malone Sakura Cherry Blossom and Zoologist Nightingale. I hope to be able to sample them soon. If anyone else has any suggestions for great cherry/plum/peach blossom perfume – that would be greatly appreciated.
I don’t generally care for cherry blossom perfumes, but in case you didn’t know, L’Occitane does a yearly cherry blossom, usually released in the spring, and they do lots of cherry blossom body products too.
Then there’s Guerlain Flora Cherrysia, The Body Shop Cherry Blossom, Yves Rocher Cerisier Eau Fraiche, and earlier this year Elizabeth Arden did one:
https://nstperfume.com/2019/01/18/guerlain-flora-cherrysia-coconut-fizz-ginger-piccante-new-fragrances/

https://nstperfume.com/2019/07/29/yves-rocher-eau-fraiche-collection-new-fragrances/
The Body Shop Cherry Blossom is very wearable – one of my Plato’s Closet bargain score, and the label is in Japanese, so that was fun, too.
I adore cherry blossoms (and all things Japanese), but have yet to find a perfume I enjoy with that note. I hope you find the perfect one. 😀
I went sniffing at Neiman-Marcus with Nancyleandros yesterday and we sampled all the Acqua de Parma scents. They have a nice one, not sure if it’s new or not, called Sakura, and also a Yuzu. I found the Sakura one pleasant and very delicate. Certainly worth trying in your research!
Right, thanks, totally forgot about that one!
I am wearing Baikal Leather, which is at least northernly.
And smells fantastic 🙂
Tell us more? This has some of my favorite notes (violet and, surprise surprise, leather) and Lake Baikal is really meaningful to me. I would love to have a perfume named in its honor if it’s one that may suit me!
Yes, say on: violet and leather do sound nice.
I’m in my only CP-compliant scent, Laila by Geir Ness. I bought it back in the days when being advertised as “the scent of Norway” at Sephora was enough for me to buy a perfume, and haven’t worn it (except once or twice) since, oh, 2008, when I went down the perfume rabbit hole. It’s too clean for me…very much a product of its time.
Realizing this morning that either a) Norway smells like celery, or b) my bottle has gone off. Given that this bottle is probably over 20 years old, I’m going with b. The perfume is still underneath there, but wow…celery top notes!
Happy Friday, everyone!
I suppose it’s vaguely possible that Norway smells like celery.
Hi, twin! ? I don’t smell any celery, nor any watermelon, which is supposedly a note.
I don’t remember it smelling like celery either.
Cannot find any of my Byredo samples, so I’m a fail on CP.
But in a nod to our Nordic friends, I’m wearing SSS Winter Woods.
Went to the movies yesterday for the first time in 16 mos, almost exactly. (My last movie was First Cow on March 10, 2020.) We saw F9, which was silly but entertaining. Just one other couple in the theater.
I’m curious whether you find the decibel level in theaters to be a bit higher than necessary. The last film I saw in a theater was Ray (at least a decade ago), and I had to watch most of it with my hands over my ears – wondering if theaters have dialed back the volume.
I have definitely noticed that in the past, especially in the previews. It can be very annoying. (This was not a problem yesterday…in fact, my husband asked them to turn it up a bit because it seemed too soft to hear the dialogue.)
Good to know, thanks! Guess I have one fewer excuses for saying no to theater-viewings now – Mr. G will be so pleased. 🙂
I think the theater we were in was an anomaly. Most big chains are very loud. So you may still have the excuse.
I had to wear earplugs to watch the last movie I saw in a theater!
Commando at the moment and it’s a hot hot ?
Trying out a revlon foundation today called Candid, or something like that. So far it’s drying but the coverage is good. I don’t wear foundation often but want something for on the days I need to.
Have you tried Fenty? I was skeptical because I read a lot of reviews about it being drying, but just a small bit — my first bottle lasted a long time even back when I was wearing a full face of makeup every weekday — over a moisturizing (not silicone-based) primer or my beloved SuperGoop Unseen Sunscreen really evens things out. I am in my 50s with dry and sensitive skin. Of course, I haven’t actually worn foundation in months.
Ok, I will add Fenty to try.
One of my girlfriends swears by Estée Lauder double wear(?) so she told me I should try this too.
I also use a sunscreen under my makeup
I’ve used and liked EL Double Wear, and currently have EL Perfectionist. Both have SPF and neither was drying on my combination skin. I think EL has a GWP going on now, too.
Lovestosmellgood, am I remembering correctly? Do you really like Jo Malone’s Mimosa and Cardamom?
Yes, you should try it! I had a sample and drained it quickly. Let me know what you think
I actually have a partial bottle. I never use it because of sad associations and I would love to send it as a gift to someone who would appreciate it properly. My email is payne underscore cm in the land of yahoo if you’re interested.
Ah! So kind of you. I will email you soon
I liked the candid glow well enough—not so drying. My favorite affordable light coverage these days is Sephora Best Skin Ever. It’s just basic coverage with skincare ingredients.
Oh, they did have the glow, I wasn’t sure about that one. Hmmm, maybe I should exchange
I’ll also throw in a shoutout for Pat McGrath foundation. It’s amazing and comes in a host of shades and undertones.
I started using the Erborian CC cream last year and quite like it. If you are very fair, even the Clair might be too dark. It works fine on me. Just provides a blurring effect.
Today my SotD is Japanese Cherry Blossom body lotion + Auphorie Lanterne Rouge perfume. Lovely combo!!
Testing out 64° Reykjavik Distillery Landi Edp for the community project. Smells a lot like L’Air des Alpes Suisses. I find this one to be pretty good so far.
Oh I have that on my list to try! Glad to hear it is pleasant!
Distillery X perfume may be my favorite crossover ever. I’ll need to look into this!
I didn’t have anything from a Nordic country so I just wore Une Rose Chypree because at least Switzerland is in Europe. Love this one, I might ask for a bottle for my birthday but I may need to get a bigger perfume cabinet before then…it’s come to that point.
Cool way to swizzle the CP! ?
And Robin is very generous with us! 😀 With a name like Une Rose Chypree, I am guessing you smell wonderful.
mmmm, you smell very pretty! 🙂 now I’m off to look for my Tauer samples.
While I’ve had sample that fit the CP in the past, I’ve used them all up! So no CP points today. Wearing Pomelo Paradis for a hot day.
By the end of this long hot day, I’d switched to Osmanthe Yunnan…
Well, I don’t own anything CP-compliant, it seems, so I’m sampling something just about as far from a Nordic ethos as there is: Angel La Rose, received as part of an impromptu swap Vee and I did recently. I was careful to dab sparingly, and it’s a powerhouse. It’s one of those scents that I almost can’t smell at all with wrist to nose – it’s all in the sillage. It has gone through its Bulgarian-rose-and-patchouli phase (which I would have liked more of) and moved on to a somewhat fruity phase now. It’ll be interesting to see what it does drydown-wise.
I’m glad you didn’t have to throw it out the window like the original Angel 🙂
Hah, me too! Or triple-wrap it and take it straight to the outdoor trash can (Bull’s Blood sample from Imaginary Authors). ?
Update: I’m at Hour Four now, and really love the stage it’s at now. The fruitiness has faded, the rose is back in a muskier form, and there’s something woody, or maybe faintly amber-y, coming through. Quite nice.
That sounds lovely!
Oooooooooooooooooh. Angel La Rose sounds gorgeous! Why doesn’t Mugler bring stuff like that back?
Because the hate us now.
???
Since you chimed in, Jalapeno, I should mention that I switched to Paracelsus once the Angel wore off … and Paracelsus still reigns as my favorite darker-than-dark rose. ?
I don’t think I have anything Nordic, unless Uncle Serge is secretly Danish or something, so I’m wearing something appropriate for this hot muggy day: Demeter Grass, which doesn’t smell exactly like fresh-cut grass but which is brightly green and made for such weather.
“unless Uncle Serge is secretly Danish or something”
Or something! Thanks for the laugh!
Good one!!!
yah, I LOL’d!! 😀
Hah! ??
Happy Friday!! I’m about to leave for a camping trip so no weekend scent updates but I’m gonna kick it off in Blsck Saffron.
Have fun on that trip and best wishes for good weather and lots of fireflies. Ours are doing great here!
SNAP Dorsey! Isn’t it fabulously weird?
I love it 🙂
SOTD = Maya Njie Nordic Cedar
✅ Swedish line / perfumer
✅ Nordic in the name

Musky, spicy, woody, patchouli!

Went into the office today and stopped by Saks at lunch. Woo hoo – try and try again and the store just happened to receive a shipment of the Factory 5 Body Oil in a can. ? but of course, was there ever a doubt? ?
My workplace is in a leased building we are subject the leased building rules outside of the space we lease. Today, there was a sign that said unvaccinated people need to wear a mask! Now I don’t have to worry about having to wear a mask once I take it off (and so far, I have not on the walk into the office).
Aww, you have the best lunch hours! *Cue oil can sounds*
LOL and it is actually plastic. It’s very nicely packaged although it may be too big for me to take a proper picture on my picture taking table.
How big is that can??
That’s a beautiful owl.
Thank you. It’s very dreamy!
Got a smile reading about your persistence paying off!
I don’t have anything to match the CP, but decided on Cardin Choc today. I love my Chypres!
Sausage salad with kimchi for dinner plus a freshly baked loaf from the boyfriend. A great dinner! Plus a nice bottle of Riesling.
That does sound like a great dinner…wish I could get my husband to take up bread making.
I’m in 19-69 Rainbow Bar, and am happy to report that although I am wearing a sweater and nursing a hot mug of coffee, I have not turned on my space-heater this morning!
Oakland Fresca, your weather reports make me smile every day! *So* glad your poor space heater is getting a rest. Sending you a Southern Indiana steam bath to purify your skin! 85 and rainy: there’s nothing like it.
I will raise you a muggy 90s NJ so humid it would not rain for days.
Oakland Fresca, it is so hot here (heat index over 100, again) I feel vaguely ill even though I have not been outside all day. I do hate winter, but this is arguably just as bad.
Happy Friday!
Zara Rose Marshmallow Candy???
Does it smell like rose marshmallow?
It smells like sweet, citrus marshmallow to me…don’t get rose in the floral sense but more like if it were a rose or violet flavored candy…reminds me of Sweetarts or Smarties too.
Sounds very yum!
I have the rose lip mask from ColourPop/ Fourth Ray and it tastes exactly like rose marshmallows. It’s a cheap thrill, especially if you get it during one of their frequent sales!
That sounds really fun!
Good morning! Well, it’s barely morning here, but I’m going with that salutation anyway. As many others are, I’m in Byredo. Bal d’Afrique from a sample which will be thunked by the end of the day.
We’re having bits and bobs personal pizzas today, which is code for ‘clean out the freaking freezer.’ Really, it is out of control in there. Just digging around caused a food avalanche. Pizza, pasta and stir fries seem to be great ways to use stuff up. I hate wasting food!
I had a wonderful time at lunch yesterday with Calypso. We ate, we saw, we sniffed. I was glad to try some new releases like Orpheon. We spent some time testing several Aqua di Parma and Memos also. ?
I do this with pizzas, too! It’s fun to see what you can come up with.
I began being more careful about food waste a few years ago, too. It is surprising and rewarding what can go together if you give those little containers a few minutes of thought. Crusts, rice, noodles, and ‘taters often make the needed bridge. *FOOD AVALANCE* NST is filled with laughs today!
2 weeks ago I left the freezer door open downstairs. Almost all of it thawed. I threw a lot out because I wasn’t sure about refreezing. Can it be refroze?
Nope. It is not good and in fact probably dangerous to re-freeze.
Then I am glad I got rid of it. I didn’t want to take any chances.
Agree with hajusuuri, tossing it was the right thing. I understand your pain, though!
Yay for stir-fries! So easy, and tasty to boot!
Tested Very Good Girl today in the red high heel and immediately liked it as one does something quite familiar 🙂 It seems to me quite close to Narciso Rouge though having sprayed that now it is deeper and more musky. Very Good Girl may be a bit fruitier and higher-pitched. Strange because there is not that much of an overlap in notes other than rose. I suspect there may be more of an overlap in aromachemicals than imaginary notes! Anyone smelled these?
When it first came out, I picked up and spritzed that High Heel in Ulta. I do remember that I thought it had perfumy-ness in a good way. Now I must check it out again.
Let us know if you do!
My only Scandinavian scent is Byredo Pulp, in a shower gel. So I used it this morning, a nice citrus on a hot day.
That sounds like the perfect shower gel scent!
Seriously does.
Joining the crew in Pulp. I can’t believe we’re halfway through July.
I can’t believe it either! If I subtract the days it’s been too hot to leave the house, the month has hardly begun 😉
Tgif!
My Nordic choice today is Byredo’s Bibliothèque. Thought I didn’t have anything for the CP but found this sample in my box. Yay!
Hiya scent twin!
Count me in with the Pulp wearers today. Happy Friday!
go go go, Team Pulp! We smell goooood 😀
I’m in Vilhem Parfumerie’s Basilico and Fellini thanks to a sample from She-Ra. I smell super herby – the fig is definitely there but it’s a backup singer at the moment.
Happy Friday everyone!
That’s an excellent summer pick! Too bad even the travel sprays are $$$$$$!
Inspired by the the founder’s house in Italy…so many of these are multi-cultural 🙂
Sotd is Byredo Accord Oud from generous Oakland Fresca.
It was one of the samples I brought with me on vacation so I was glad to be able to be CP compliant. The Blackberry top note helps make it a light enough Oud for a summer day that happens to be a little cool and overcast.
Hi there, house twin!
Hi!
I’ve never traveled to any of the countries in today’s cp, have no Nordic roots, and really don’t know very much about any of them. But I envision, especially in the northernmost ones, crisp mountain air, sparkling fjord waters, perhaps a bit of green and a bit of floral – ‘clean’ air and ‘cool’ temps and overall ‘fresh’ are the words that really come to mind. I’m happy to report that I’m wearing my namesake fragrance! Geir Ness Laila, and, yes, Laila really does seem to capture this essence. Not my usual kind of scent, but quite pleasant and especially effective in cutting through the continued mugginess and humidity we’ve had all week.
Looking forward to sunshine ? and pleasant summer weather beginning tomorrow and wishing everyone an equally pleasant weekend ahead! ☀️
For Iceland you can add in elements like glaciers with rocks in them, lava fields–things that smell like minerals and stones; sod houses with grass over the roofs, so lots of grass; belching geysers and waterfalls–wet smells + some sulfurous odors; lots of the sea and waves and salt; numerous lupines along the roadsides–they are everywhere there, with a slightly sweet scent, but apparently controversial because they were introduced at some point and are not native; plus add in the scent of farm animals, particularly those amazing sheep and horses that are unique there. I don’t know if you are from the north anywhere but snow and ice definitely have smells!
I’ve been to Finland a few times and mainly just in Helsinki, but I can attest that the market there down by the harbor is amazing. Of all the marvelous items on display there to eat (not to mention fascinating work in silver and wood), what most amazed me were all the fresh mushrooms! Mmmm! Morels and chanterelles and others. So add the smell of mushrooms to the list! And lingonberries and honey!
Awesome, Calypso, you took me right there! Thank you! ?
I don’t have anything from the Nordic countries, but I’m so excited about the new Sex and the City series coming up that I could explode!
I’m excited too!
wait, what? SatC is back? fantastic! 😀
It’s in production right now. I might have to break down and get HBO max.
Other than Pulp, which I wasn’t feeling this morning, I don’t know if I have anything Nordic! I’m in Chanel No 5 L’eau because it always fits.
always No 5 😀
perfect!
Always. And smells great!
You smell absolutely terrific!
You smell amazing. And yes, it always fits!
One of these days I will sniff that one. The original No. 5 doesn’t work on me at all.
It was my gateway No 5! I have the edp now, too, and would like to have the parfum. I definitely recommend a spritz.
Jalapeno, I will send you some. Email me with you address again. ( whenever you are up to it)
Awwwww. That’s so kind of you lillyjo. I’ll probably ping you tomorrow.
Just a quick note (& eager for another enabler pin this week) that Penhaligan’s has up to 50% off on a bunch of stuff. You’re welcome 🙂
SOTD: Paris-Venise
50% off? thank you!
I mean, drat!
must resist 😉
Naughty!
I just missed Juniper Sling!
Same 🙁
Started out In Andrea Maack Dual, but just changed to Byredo Oliver Peoples because it makes me happy. Wish I had a BUB of this.
Two points!
Oh, Oliver Peoples is just the best scent!!! I have a bottle and it is either a special occasion or a “I need the most comfortable perfume that smells like me” scent.”
You sent me a decant a long time ago and made my year – let me know if you ever need some in return!
Thanks Sistine. I still have a good half bottle . I’m glad you liked it as much as I do.
I eagerly mined the sample trove, because I thought one of you guys had gifted me a Byredo. But did not find anything. Since in general I can’t work with piney, watery, or “cool” scents which might have evoked Nordic life, I did have anything else in the main hoard. While rooting around, I spied my awesomely packaged bottle of Brooks Brothers Black Fleece and went with that. It does have a cologne-fresh aspect, but is deeper and richer. I got a good five hours and will re-spritz. Happy Friday to all.
I looked up Black Fleece, that’s a gorgeous bottle! 😀
Yes; I should toss some samples at the next FreebieMeet! (Makes note…)
Most of the Byredo scents I have tried are far from watery or piney. They do florals rather well, IMO.
SotD = Pulp
Hej! to all you Pulp Pals, we smell great today. Though truth be told, Pulp is a scent I enjoy on other people. On me it gets a bit grating after an hour.
Thank you to the wonderful NSTer who sent a sample to me, Pulp is the only Nordic scent I could find as I waded through my personal sample sea. I’m so grateful for all the sharing that goes on among perfumistas. 🙂
And I absolutely had to wear something for today’s CP. My Danish grandmother always smelled wonderful. She alternated between White Shoulders dusting powder, Youth Dew bath oil, and Estee perfume by Estee Lauder.
Grandma wafted the heart notes, her immaculately clean house had top notes of cinnamon buns with basenotes of beeswax furniture polish. Happy memories.
Have a wonderful Friday, fragrance friends!
Wonderful scented memories! I need to get some better furniture polish. And also, use it.
ha! same for me, and I’m not sure when I last saw the furniture polish at my house . . . 🙂
My grandmother’s house was immaculate too. Even with us kid’s there. I have no idea how she did it.
It’s GrandmaMagic(TM) 😀
You’ve described Pulp how I would because I cannot wear it myself.
Both grandparents’ homes were immaculate. I know they weren’t the ones who cleaned ?.
yay! glad I’m not the only one. I think Pulp smells wonderful from about three feet away. 😉
I have no memories of my Grandma’s house, because she had already moved into senior housing when I was still little. However, she always had Starlight Mints around, to give to me and my brother.
My Danish Grandma always had M&Ms in a candy dish. My English Grandma loved those Starlight Mints and Brachs Butterscotch candies. 😀
Another stinking hot and humid day here. House twins with several people here, and I think I have a scent twin today! ?
Purchased airline tickets to head back to see my brother and mom earlier this afternoon. Fingers crossed the weather behaves this trip. ?
SOTD = Byredo Bibliotheque EdP, from the sample stash. Getting a fair amount of vanilla from it today.
Safe travels: Indiana is having some thunder storms tonight, but hopefully they will not be in your path!
Thank you MossyBerry. I’ve got a bit of time before my travels, so maybe things will settle down a bit?
Fingers crossed ?!
Thanks lillyjo.
You smell great. Safe travels, friend.
Thank you hajusuuri. Your advice and support has been golden.
Safe travels!!! And hugs to your family.
Thanks sistine. It’s late next week, so I have time to whittle down the mountain of laundry into a foothill’s worth.
Oh good, glad you have some time to get ready.
I am wearing Estee Lauder Private Collection today. I do not own anything Nordic, but my daughter’s absolute favorite perfume is Geir Ness Laila. If she were on this site, she would be on point with the CP 🙂
Her Wedding perfume, wasn’t it?
Yes it was ?!
I am representing the Nordic today with full CP points by wearing Agonist Nordic Noir! I saved the best for last! Apparently I’m the only person here with an Agonist collection large enough to wear one every day for a week. Yay!
Spent long hours this afternoon at the hospital waiting around for various tests and a ton of paperwork for my pre-op appointment for upcoming surgery (shoulder replacement). Although I feel confident in the doctor and so on, I still had an overwhelming amount of anxiety walking around those long hallways today. When you sign the form that lists all the risks that might happen to you it’s rather grim. (Don’t worry I’ll be fine. And it’s not right away–it’s the 27th.) My surgeon also operates on the Houston Astros (who need it), and I figure he must be pretty good!
That is a good sign! They only let the best operate on pro athletes.
I really like Agonist perfumes, and would have more if the budget allowed. You have smelled amazing all week!
Good luck with your upcoming shoulder surgery!
Thank you so much!
Sending good thoughts for you, Calypso! When I had my shoulder surgery (for multiple dislocations) I ended up getting a surgeon who was the Olympic Ski team doctor; somehow I just fluked into him! He was phenomenal.
Wow! That’s pretty incredible!
I’m pretty sure you win the CP!
And that really is anxiety-producing, but I am sure you are right that you will be just fine and your surgeon is a pro 🙂
Thanks!
No points for me. I don’t think I have anything on theme.
People are getting their child tax money so business is still booming! My boss said we are already a million and a half over projection for the year!
Angel Muse called my name today. My bottle is now less than half full. It’s making me nervous. I think I’ve had it 5 years now, so I should have 4 more years before it’s thunked, lol.
Will you get a BUB of Angel Muse?
I thought about it, but I might go for the edt instead.
Best to get what you want before it’s d/c’ed or reformulated, huh?
Nordic inspiration by way of Canada and California, wearing Ineke Idyllwild, one of my favorite summer woods inspired fragrances.
You smell great stinker_kit!
No cp points as I wore AG Heure Exquise again. It’s back to hot but at least the thick smoke from the wildfires has cleared out. Nice to see a blue sky today. It’s been a week; glad it’s over!
Happy for you the smoke has cleared.
Thanks lillyjo. A fire sparked up fairly close to 2 of my coworker friends. And their power grid was also in jeopardy – not good. There is no alternative power source; thankfully the winds changed (power is ok for now) but the fire is still out of control.
That is so scary! My nerves wouldn’t be able to take it. I’m glad everyone is safe.
Glad that you survived a hectic, smoke-filled week!
Thanks Jalapeno. I was more of a bystander in the trauma this week thankfully; others weren’t so lucky.
In MFK Grand Soir most of the day, but now post-shower have gone full Nordic with Byredo Gypsy Water oil perfume for my CP points.
This week: Survived digitally managing 24hrs of circus-focused webinar and digital conference content in 5 days’ time, which required pulling 12-14h days since late last week. Whew!
Today: Ordered a truffle and mushroom NY-style pizza for dinner to celebrate surviving, and had a “salted lime gose” beer with it, hoping it might conjure memories of my go-to drink at my favorite bar in my hometown, a Thai version of a Mexican bulldog.
10/10 on both counts, the pizza was delicious and the beer very much had that flavor.
Ready to sleep for days! Happy Friyay!
Bet you are glad that is over, and hope you do get to sleep for days!!
Not a perfume, per se, but I have a hand soap – “Lóa hand soap with wild Icelandic herbs” from company called Sóley Organics that I am so in love with, I was asking friends who got to travel to Iceland on regular basis – lucky lucky people – to bring me bottles of it. It can be ordered from https://nammi.is/loa-hand-soap-with-wild-icelandic-herbs.html website, but with a very hefty shipping tag. Now that travel has been curtailed, I would probably pay for shipping anyway. The scent is perfect, unique and beautifully integrated into the soap base, and yes, it is a very good, expensive but so well worth it, hand soap. I first smelled in a hotel in Reykjavik and it does bring back the memories, too. For anyone who is really into fancy hand soaps, strongly recommended!
Teazzurra today!! Beautiful tea fragrance.
